Felimax: A woman of 25 years is already receiving pressure of marriage both internally and externally. A guy of 25, even if he is so successful to be thinking of marriage will advice to take his time, some will even tell him he is still too young. A woman of 40 getting married to a guy of 25 is madness. A guy of 40 getting married to a lady of 20-25 is normal. Men and women are not equal, they will never be. Anyway, I don't think I am making much sense. What do you think?
I get what you are saying but how it relate to a woman being older than a man of the same age is not clear
Felimax: My reason may not actually or perfectly fit into your lifestyle. We are not wired the same. For me, it is more of a biological reason. When I married her everyone who cares rained insult on me, we did not waste time before the house gets filled up with babies. No single prenatal or postnatal stories, her body was still so young and I believe with little or no abortion stories. Again, I knew she will grow into me. Presently, if I tell people I am older than her with more than ten years some people just wonder and for me she is evergreen. If I had not gotten married to her that young perhaps I would have been so tired but there is always a price to pay. Secondly, regardless of the age difference women are always older than men, a truth too difficult to accept. You are very free to dispute this I won't get offended.
KillamanJoe: I feel for you my brother. That’s why I advise my friends not to rush into marriage if you cannot comfortably take care of two ppl. May I ask, is she a graduate? Why can she not apply for jobs. Before I got married to my wife l, we made sure we worked her nysc to Lagos and I drove her to almost all the interviews she had and she finally got a job. By the time we got married, I collected her cv and started sending to better companies and she’s now earning well and doesn’t disturb me for 1 naira. I’m even sure her salary pass my own sef. What I’m saying is, if the business is too hard for her, dust her cv and look for job. Except she’s not a graduate. One more thing , forget about kids for now. Trust me they are more expensive than adult.
.. omooh all this work and sacrifice for a woman.. nothing for a man in marriage
nastyesco: Yes I believe everyone can, its a journey so you will need to start with some fundamentals, likely not in programming (software development) but you can build competence in UI/UX, Data Analytics, Network Administration/Security without an IT background
tensazangetsu20: Honestly you need to learn a skill. I don't know how feasible it will be for you to get a laptop and consistent data for the next 8 to 12 months. But if you can, get a laptop and start learning web development.
Start with HTML after that move to CSS and after that move to JavaScript. Once comfortable with JavaScript start learning data structures and algorithms and start doing coding challenges and move on to learning a JavaScript framework. Create things that showcase what you have known and start looking for a job. The good thing with tech is that you can find work anywhere as the knowledge is the same globally so getting a job won't be difficult. From there you can continue upskilling but even at that a junior Dev in Nigeria gets at least 100k. I have seen companies paying junior Devs 700 to 800k. A remote job can give you 7 figures in naira when you convert what you earn to naira.
Which one is more rewarding in the long run web development or UI/ux
RenaissanceGuy: Quite hilarious that people think Nwa...ikpe is an old man whereas he's a very young man. I checked out his Facebook posts and they align very well with his posts on NL, confirming that he's the one, though with his real name.
remi1444: His father is probably somewhere in a hole without accessible road and no power for years gnashing his teeth and complaining about how the government hasn't paid his gratuity. So the toxicity and frustration is a chain reaction. It trickles from the top to the bottom.
nastyesco: Looked outside of the box and dared to push myself further - Got fully certified as Oracle DBA/Solaris Administrator (top notch certifications at the time) - Got into the Telecoms domain and leveraged building multiple skills to ensure my portfolio was robust&diverse - Kept applying for International offers till 1 finally came through (must have applied for more than 300 different opportunities) -Once I japa I kept exploring more opportunities
If I was starting all over, I would learn Software Development (not Web development), UI/UX, Salesforce DevOps
Thanks Is this possible for someone who graduated from a course not tech related
nastyesco: Been there OP, I recall cussing at myself after graduating with 2.2 how I had set myself up for failure. But alas, grades don’t equate success smartness does. I cleared my head for the challenges ahead and not only did I excel, 2.5yrs after graduation I was already an expatriate, enjoying all expenses paid living, earning $$$. I don’t even know where that certificate is at. To think I almost got depressed for graduating with a 2.2 you will be fine.
can you please give a brief insight about how you are able to achieve this?8
chikason22: Someone should should help me compile names of Liverpool fans not on my register. I want to update it before our next match. Mention me along so I will know. Thanks
blasiangurl85: I don't know why people think getting a foreign cat is better than a Nigerian cat. All my cats are all local Nigerian cats but they are all well taken care of and look good. To me cats are the easiest animals to have because they only need feeding and that's it. They take care of other things. I have cat litter that I put in certain places around the house so they can do their business and change it weekly.
How do you prepare the cat litter? Do they also urinate on it
I've been looking for house. To get a good house is not easy at all, plus houses have doubled in price. Whether I get house or not, local boy must chop beta food
Happy birthday Akposy.. wishing you long life and prosperity
movado19: I shared this VERSE OF CONCERN by Ikupakuti with someone very close to me almost 2 years ago after he complained about everything being strenuous and stagnant in his life. This I had been aware of but for him to open his mouth and express himself the way he did, I knew that things had really choked him up! I didn't hear back from him except for the one or two texts to say hello. Then we spoke at length yesterday and he explained what happened after the dua was given to him. He said despite his situation especially with finances, he still tried to save up as much as he could to carry out this dua as his mind was made up immediately he got it. He decided to leave the township to look for those mallams who haven't been corrupt by township life and they set to work. He decided to do 7,000x verse of concern as he felt that 3,000x was too small and 70,000x was beyond his budget and capacity. Not long after the exercise, he said he began to receive small contracts here and there, people would all of a sudden begin to look for him to come execute some work, etc. He said favours from Allah were just coming in unannounced. His health even got better!
He said it's as if he never saw the verse his entire life but that's not the case - he now recites it 313x on Fridays with lots of Salawatul Rasul, S.A.W. Now, he said his goal is to arrange to carry out the 70,000x because he did 7,000x and it's like this for him, so how would it be like after 70k?
I am so happy for him because I know how much he toiled in life. I am sharing this to encourage us all to keep seeking Allah because people sometimes may feel that these duas don't really do anything, or they lose hope and begin to despair, etc. Let's all be patient as Allah has continuously instructed because He promises to always be with the patient ones. Q 2:45 Q 3:139 Q 3:200 Q 8:46 Q 31:17 Q 32:24 Q 39:10 etc, etc...
May Allah bless Ikupakuti and safeguard everything concerning his Duniya and Akirah, Amin. May Allah continue to bless EmekaRaj for creating this thread, Amin. May Allah bless and keep us all under His Aamanah, Amin.
Amin , I am so happy for the brother. I have experienced something similar
Jazakhumullahi khayran to the sheikh. I have always wonder on the story of Dhul qurnain in the Quran, Many Scholars just treat it on the surface. I am grateful the sheikh shed more light to it.
Macsjebs: So I am writing this 'caveat' (moderate use) after a Nairalander nicknamed me 'macsjebs JARUMA'. According to him - 'of late, when I hang out with my gees, ladies I haven't met do approach me & we flow easily which wasn't so before I started using those your enchanting perfumes you recommended'
Bro, it is RESEARCH-BASED, fragrances as ours, contains a small % of pheromones & aphrodisiac properties known to build bond, increase attractiveness & confidence levels. This corroborates several Nairalanders experiences posted here: www.nairaland.com/5376666
tensazangetsu20: If your parents are struggling financially then learn web development HTML CSS JavaScript react, php WordPress and Shopify. You can start freelancing in school or get a part time remote job.
Adeniyisam02: Good day Nairalanders. Pardon my poor grammar.
I work with one of the fairly big school in Ogun state. The proprietor died some few years ago and his son took over the leadership of the school. He started well and brought new ideas to run the school. However, one of the teachers in the school, a woman got too close to the man and took control of his life. She is called his PA and is now the one controlling anything he does. If she wants any staff to be punished, na so he go be. People like me are thinking this cannot be just ordinary has even my boss wife can't complain. You will say I should leave the school and look for another place if am not comfortable with the system, but I am just pitying my boss and the future of the school. I learnt the dead proprietor was a very good man who has done many wonderful things in the life of many people.
It has even gotten to the extend that this woman(a married woman o) has been given a flat on the school compound, near the school hostel. Even all the students know that this woman is the oga for the school.
This thing is beyond me. I want to assist my boss, but I don't know how. Please what can I do?
I believe he is not ikupakiti. From information Ikupakiti gave, he is from Ibadan and tijaniyyah. This sheikh is from Abeokuta and likely not a tijaniyyah. He also seems to be younger than Ikupakiti.
larion: Go and learn AWS DevOps, if you don't buy a house in 3 years, come after me for refund for the wasted time.
You have e to be diligent and genuinely out effort into studying the concepts and knowing it. 6 months should be fine.
Below is a breakdown of what you need to learn:
AWS Linux basic operations Git and GitHub Jenkins for CI/CD pipeline Docker Terraform Prometheus/Grafana
If you can add Kubernetes to the stack, then reduce the time it will take you to buy your house from 3 years to 2.
All these things should NOT take you more than 6 months to learn, it has to do with IT and computer, but I tell you....if you can graduate with chemistry in Nigeria, (I don't care the class) learning all those butane, propane, tetrahydrocannabinol equation, then you can learn this stuffs.
The market is VERY hot for DevOps at the moment, after learning it, you should easily get a job of 5k USD per month, as a fresher....either you move to South Africa, UK,or US .....or you work remotely from Nigeria....the market is HOT!
Once you have 1 year hands on experience, expect to start earning 300 to 400usd every day....that's 150k naira, daily!
Yes! I mean this....if you earn 4million naira every month and you cannot buy a house in 2 years, then na you Sabi.
But hey....you have to study these things diligently for the first 6 months.
Anyone who doesn't understand what I am saying should search "AWS Devops jobs in UK or US". Put the job type to contract and see how much you can earn per day....
The question is, are you ready to study hard just for 6 month??
Yes ,I am ready to study hard.. where can I get materials for this courses
15thAccount: Hey, I don't know if you'll ever see this, as there are many posts before mine, but i was a similar boat as yours, I graduated with a third class about 3-4 years ago and this was after 3 extra years. I graduated with no skills and no experiences, inferiority complex and social anxiety. I was learning animation for a while before I decided to go into tech. Even though tech is stressful, the growth is exponential, even compared to what you see in other industries, you'll probably earn in your first year what others in industries like banking or insurance earn after 2 to 3 years.
You'll say your salary as a developer on nairaland and it'll cause fight, because many Nigerians cannot fathom how someone will earn that kind of money in this economy. Nobody will believe you. so basically tech gives you the potential to earn unbelievable salary lmao.
People outside of tech don't understand and think about guys telling you "let me build a website for you 10k". That's not the tech industry i'm talking about. on average junior devs earn about 150k to 350k here in Nigeria every month, If its a foreign Job, its about 1000 - 2000 dollars every month.
My Advice. Pick up a laptop and do your research of how to go into tech, learn necessary skills like HTML and CSS and Javascript and a backend language, It would probably take you a year to be comfortable (I learnt for about a year or two, before getting my first role). Developers are in high demand in Nigeria, because many experienced developers go on to work for foreign companies remotely, so many Nigerian firms need to constantly hire devs to replace them.
This is the only advice I can give now, because it worked for me and I don't regret, I still feel some inferiority complex and social anxiety gathered over the years while i was in school due to the consistent F9's and my broke state (seriously broke all those years). But I generally feel a lot better than I did, I've made some worthwhile friends, I'm very comfortable and I feel I have a direction which I never felt all my days in school. Of course I also pray, so God is very involved too. If you are an atheist, know that I have a lot of agnostic friends who are doing quite well (them boku for tech), but I know that personally, I couldn't manage without God.
If you're serious about this and want to give this a shot, quote me and I'll give you a roadmap or possible roadmaps you can follow to get your first tech job. Its not easy at all(you'll have to learn algorithms and data structures and read a lot of theory) but its very worth it.
Please bros.. I am facing the same delimma.. I really need the roadmap. Looking forward to your reply
Bigredmachine: yes... my life has been filled with depression of some kind over the years, i am currently learning how to become a ui/ux designer to see if i could start a career from there
i have also tried forex, but its not working
betting nko, that one has showed me more pepper than anything else...
i just tire
and i dont want to go the wrong side of life to make it
study the UI/UX very well. People are living their dreams with it.
