BusinessGoogle Fined $2.7b For Deliberately Demoting Competitors On Their Search Engine by exlink10(op): 11:17pm On Jun 27, 2017
The world’s most famous internet search engine, Google has been slammed a record $2.7 billion fine by Europe’s anti-trust agency over foul play in in dominating searches and smartphones.

The fine signalled a tough stance by the agency in the first of three investigations into the company’s dominance in searches and smartphones. It is the biggest fine the EU has ever imposed on a single company in an anti-trust case, exceeding a 1.06-billion-euro sanction handed down to U.S. chipmaker Intel in 2009, Reuters reported.

The European Commission said the world’s leading technology company has 90 days to stop favouring its own shopping service or face a further penalty per day of up to 5 percent of Alphabet’s average daily global turnover.

The fine, equivalent to 3 percent of Alphabet’s turnover, is the biggest regulatory setback for Google, which settled with U.S. enforcers in 2013 without a penalty after agreeing to change some of its search practices.bThe EU competition enforcer has also charged Google with using its Android mobile operating system to crush rivals, a case that could potentially be the most damaging for the company, with the system used in most smartphones.

The company has also been accused of blocking rivals in online search advertising.

The Commission found that Google, with a market share in searches of over 90 percent in most European countries, had systematically given prominent placement in searches to its own comparison shopping service and demoted those of rivals in search results.

“What Google has done is illegal under EU antitrust rules. It denied other companies the chance to compete on the merits and to innovate. And most importantly, it denied European consumers a genuine choice of services and the full benefits of innovation,” European Competition Commissioner Margrethe Vestager said in a statement.

Google said its data showed people preferred links taking them directly to products they want and not to websites where they have to repeat their search.

“We respectfully disagree with the conclusions announced today. We will review the Commission’s decision in detail as we consider an appeal, and we look forward to continuing to make our case,” Kent Walker, Google’s general counsel, said in a statement.

PoliticsProf. Pat Utomi Warns - Nigeria Is Walking Towards Failure by exlink10(op): 9:55am On Jun 27, 2017
Popular and renowned economist and founder of Centre for Values in Leadership (CVL), Pat Utomi, has described Nigeria as a “classic example of a country walking towards failure”.

He made this observation in Awka, capital of Anambra, at a meeting of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) alumni association. The erudite professor, an alumnus of the university, said groups and organisations like the alumni could use their wealth of experience and strength to work towards building stronger institutions in the country.

In his words:

“Any society that is not investing in the education and wellbeing of its future generation is seriously heading towards anarchy,” he said. “Nigeria is a classic example of a country that is walking towards failure; the society fails largely because people like you have not done the needful to sustain the country.

“And so, when alumni of an institution that means something to the making of the nation does not realise its duty, the possibility is that history will hold them to account.” Utomi also told members of the association that groups like the alumni were important to stop the “looming anarchy”.

“If you fail to show leadership, instead of reaping demographic dividend, we will reap secession or anarchy, especially when youths lose confidence in the leadership,” he said.

Utomi commended Willie Obiano, governor of Anambra for his “developmental strides and leadership qualities”, urging him to sustain the tempo so as not to fail the Igbo.

Earlier, Peter Umeadi, chief judge of the state who was chairman of the occasion, said UNN had produced men of great pedigree, who had and were still making waves in their chosen fields.

RomanceMarried Woman Die In A Hotel Were She Went To Meet Lover by exlink10(op): 8:11pm On Jun 09, 2017
A woman, Mrs. Ifeyinwa Udeh, from the Abakpa-Nike area of Enugu, has died in a hotel room where she reportedly lodged with an alleged lover. The incident occurred on June 2, 2017 at a hotel in the Trans Ekulu area of Enugu.

Spokesman, Enugu State Police Command, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, who confirmed the incident, said the woman checked into the unnamed hotel with a man suspected to be her lover, one Joel Ugwu. Amaraizu explained that, while in the hotel room, the woman reportedly took ill, and lost consciousness.

Ifeyinwa was subsequently rushed to a hospital, where she was confirmed dead. Amaraizu said the alleged lover, Ugwu, is being remanded in police custody. He said the man was helping the police with necessary information as part of ongoing investigations into the incident.

Ugwu reportedly told police detectives that the woman became sick after taking a malt drink and bottled water, which were reportedly supplied by the hotel. But Amaraizu said some ‘dangerous’ tablets/capsules were recovered from the hotel room.

“Operatives of the homicide section of the state police command have launched full-scale investigations, with a view to unraveling the circumstances surrounding the incident. “Recovered from the scene at the hotel room were leftovers of some dangerous tablets/capsules and other materials which will aid operatives in their investigations,” Amaraizu said.

The police spokesman added that the woman’s corpse has been deposited at Parklane Hospital, in Enugu State.

PoliticsHow President Buhari's Sickness Is Helping Nigeria Economy - Reno Omokri by exlink10(op): 9:25am On May 29, 2017
Vocal former media aide of ex-President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, Reno Omokri, has claimed that Nigeria’s economy has been better, since President Muhammadu Buhari left for the UK for follow-up medical treatments.

Omokri said this at The Conservative International Summit in Miami, Florida, on Saturday 27th May, 2017. He stated that the value of the Nigeria Naira picked up during the period that Buhari left the country.

“The Nigerian Stock Exchange contracts when President Buhari surfaces and expands when he goes on his many foreign trips especially to his London doctors,” Omokri said.

He also hailed Osinbajo as a better leader than Buhari.

“These are historical facts that show that the acting President is a better manager of men and resources than his boss,” he said.

Omokri also called for the world’s conservatives “to rally round Nigerian acting president who was recently undermined by being named ‘coordinator’ rather than acting president in his boss’s letter to Nigeria’s parliament”.

RomanceCheckout The Photos Of The Ghanaian Lady Said To Be Davido’s Latest Catch by exlink10(op): 7:01pm On May 28, 2017
Should I say I envy this musicians or should I say that our girls this days are crazy? I always believed that ladies that fall victims of being babymamas to all these musicians are those who do not know them well and hence have sex with them and becomes pregnant. But now, I beg to differ.

I have met two ladies now that the only goals they aspire in their lives is to be babymama for Wizkid or Davido. I was like "really" ? So mean a babymama to this boys are really a thing that women aspire for. The girl even told me that 300k to 400k for their upkeep in a month is not a joke. I just rested my case. Anybody that thinks love exists this days needs to have his head checked.

Now HKN Boss Davido has already shifted attention from his latest babymama Amanda in USA, who just gave birth to his second baby and he is now been seen with another Ghana girl, whom I believe will soon be a babymama.

The singer was in Accra, Ghana to perform at an event – he was spotted with a mystery girl who is now being reported to be his latest beau. The quite endowed lady can be seen with the singer as they hold hands while walking together, her head on his arms as they chill and all, his around her shoulders… typical acts of couples you see..

In the caption of a photo shared by one his crew, this is the “one” for the singer. The caption reads “My bestie finally found the one”

BusinessUber Ceo's Mother, Bonnie Kalanick Dies On Boat Accident by exlink10(op): 1:31pm On May 28, 2017
The mother of the CEO of the ride-hailing company Uber died in a boat accident Friday evening in Fresno County, the company said. Bonnie Kalanick, 71, died after the boat she and her husband, Donald, 78, were riding hit a rock in Pine Flat Lake in the eastern part of the county, authorities said.

They are the parents of Travis Kalanick, 40, who founded Uber in 2009. The company has since grown to become an international operation with a market value of nearly $70 billion.

The couple have been longtime boaters. In a memo to Uber staff, Liane Hornsey, the chief human resources officer, called the incident an “unthinkable tragedy.” She wrote that “everyone in the Uber family knows how incredibly close Travis is to his parents.”

About 5 p.m. Friday, officers were called to the scene of the accident and found a man and woman on a shore of the lake, the Fresno County Sheriff's office said in a statement. The woman died at the scene, and the man suffered moderate injuries, the sheriff's office said. He told officers the boat had sunk.

An autopsy of the woman is planned, the office said.

Uber identified the couple as the Kalanicks. Donald Kalanick is being treated at a hospital and is in stable condition, the company said. Crews will try to remove the boat from the lake Saturday, the sheriff's office said.

CrimeUnable To N600k Won In His Bout, Nairabet Agent Commits Suicide by exlink10(op): 8:30am On May 25, 2017
Unnamed agent of NairaBet, a sports betting platform, has committed suicide after he could not pay a customer who allegedly won a N600k bet. The Punch News reports that residents of Obadeyi Ajala woke up on Wednesday, May 24, to find the remains of the young man dangling from a rope in an uncompleted shop at Ajala bus stop, on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.

A resident, Monday Gabriel, told our correspondent on the telephone that the girlfriend of the deceased, who fainted the moment she saw his remains, gave an account of what could have prompted him to kill himself.

He said:

“I was going to my workplace around 8am when I saw people around three uncompleted shops in Ajala bus stop. On getting there, I saw the corpse of a young man in one of the shops dangling from a rope. “As we wondered what could have made him to kill himself, a lady, who later identified herself as his girlfriend, arrived at the scene and fainted on sighting the corpse. We poured water on her.

“When she regained consciousness, she told us that the man sent her a text message yesterday (Tuesday), saying he wanted to commit su*cide. She said she called his line, but he didn’t pick his calls. “According to the girlfriend, the late man had a NairaBet shop. One of the customers won N600,000, but he has not paid him.”

Gabriel also added that two persons later came and took the lady away from the scene on a motorcycle. Another eyewitness, Olanrewaju Adebiyi, said the deceased's remains was removed by policemen from the Ijaiye division.

He said:

“I learnt he ran a NairaBet shop. If it is true that he was owing a customer N600,000, he must have received the money from the NairaBet management and used it for something else. I also play NairaBet and whenever I win, the agent I patronize pays me the moment the company credits his account. “The company doesn’t owe the agents, but some of them play smart at times when customers win big money.”

However, an official of NairaBet Contact Centre, who gave her name only as Chidika, said the firm always paid for any won ticket, adding that it was not aware of the incident.

According to her, “We always pay for any won ticket. An agent has his own personal business. He/she is just a partner with NairaBet in which we share commission on a monthly or weekly basis. So, it depends on the understanding he had with the customer or the issue on the ground before he committed suicide.”

If NairaBet pays all their customers, what is the real reason why their agent committed suicide?

PoliticsMore Than 20,000 Labour Party Members Defects To PDP In Delta State by exlink10(op): 8:07am On May 25, 2017
PDP Mandate Group chides opposition for criticizing Okowa .No fewer than 20,000 Labour Party (LP) members in Ughelli and its environs in Delta State have dumped the party for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

According to Premium Times, A chieftain of the party, Chief Felix Ogbodu who led others to decamp, told Journalists that their decision to dump the Labour Party (LP) to embrace the good work of the state governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was informed by the over whelming infrastructural development in the state in the last two years adding “it is a really difficult decision considering the fact my numerous followers might not heed, but for the work of Governor Okowa.”

Noting that PDP is the only party in Delta State, Chief Ogbodu called on those who see Okowa as non performance to retrace their steps and join the winning party, PDP. Welcoming the decampees, the Political Adviser to the Governor, Mr. Omimi Esquire thanked the State Chairman of the Newforce movement for Okowa, Mr. Kinsley Odiaka Iweka, and urged the decampees to continue to show loyalty to their party PDP.

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party group known as ‘PDP Mandate’ has chided opposition parties for allegedly criticizing Governor Ifeanyi Okowa. The group’s National President, Chief Isaac Anwuzia who spoke to Journalists in Asaba said group had been on “ground” since 2013 with the sole aim of making Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa the governor of the state.

Warning opposition party members to shut up their mouths, Chief Anwuzia said Okowa’s records speak volumes in the last two years of his administration.

In his words:

“with 2019 around the corner, we have seen Okowa working and nobody will criticize a good worker” saying that there was nothing wrong with the statement recently credited to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Tukur Buratai for warning military personnel to desist from meddling in politics.

It would be recalled that in the last three weeks, opposition, parties in the state have described Okowa led administration as a “disaster”, saying his election as Governor of the state had brought pains and hunger to Deltans.

PoliticsPresident Buhari And His Marabouts By Reuben Abati by exlink10(op): 9:26am On May 23, 2017
Reuben Abati has penned down yet another interesting piece bordering around the political turmoil going on in Nigeria. He is one of Nigeria’s leading public affairs commentators and a media professional with a multi-disciplinary background in drama, management, journalism and law.

Read his writ below...

Have you read Lauretta Onochie’s latest post?”

“Lauretta. Lauretta. Who is she?”
“She is a social media assistant at the Presidency. She shoots straight and direct. She defends President Muhammadu Buhari with the passion of someone the President treats like a daughter.”

“Not a son, this time, a daughter! Interesting. Of power, fathers, wives, sons and daughters….”
“She spits fire, particularly if the person involved is in any way related to either the People’s Democratic Party or former President Goodluck Jonathan.”
“I see…”
“I try to pay attention to the many battles of the spin community in Nigerian politics.”

“Well, I have tried to tune off for a while. Now that the social media is dominated by all kinds of ghosts and malcontents, I just don’t always take everything that I read there seriously. I should pay attention to this your Lauretta though. She is likely to provide a lot of comic relief.”

“You call it comic relief?”
“You never know. What is she saying?”
“I have just read a piece she wrote saying some politicians are now hiring marabouts, pastors and Bishops to pray for President Buhari’s death.” “Pastors? Praying for someone to die? Contrary to the miracle of Lazarus and the fact of Resurrection?”

“Yes, some pastors are shamanists. Fact.”
“Some journalists are pastors”
“So?”
“Wrong syllogism. Not all pastors are shamanists.”
“I said some…”
“You sounded as if…”

“We are not talking logic. It is not everything that happens in society or in the corridors of power that is logical. If Lauretta says politicians are hiring marabouts and pastors to pray for the President’s death, she must know what she is talking about. Have you not seen how the Buhari Media Centre has been very busy raining curses on anybody who wishes the President dead? They have even chosen a song: Baba oh Baba oh, Baba o, oluwa da Baba si fun wa.”

“I see there is a singing competition in Abuja now between the Senate and the Villa. It is good to sing.”

“She says certain politicians are attacking President Buhari because he is still alive, despite their prayers. She insists they just don’t want him in power. They robbed him of victory in three past elections, and now that he has won, and is in charge, they are recruiting marabouts and soothsayers to pray for his death.”

“Hmm, these demons and principalities…”

“She even pointed out that those who wish the President dead travel to Niger and as far as India to recruit evil spiritualists.”

“She should name the persons involved so they can be charged immediately for high treason, or at worst attempted murder, or spiritual assault with intent to kill.”

“How do you prove spiritual assault?”

“The security agencies can start with the investigation of anybody who has travelled to Niger and India in the last six months to determine if such persons had any contact with a marabout, a pastor or a bishop in those countries.”

“You think this is a joke? I know these things. The only thing I don’t understand is why Niger and India. There are more marabouts, pastors and bishops in Nigeria.”

“I think the President’s enemies travel abroad because walls have ears. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs should summon the ambassadors of Niger and India and any other country that may be identified to shed light on the relationship between the Nigerian political elite and the marabouts in their countries. This is a matter for the Foreign Affairs Ministry.”

“But under what law will the Federal Government try the marabouts and their clients? Or prove that they are praying for the President’s death?”

“They’d create one. That is easy. And they can start with social media. There is a website for example that announced what did not happen. Then there is a British politician who is already sending condolence messages, and writing opinions about what does not concern him.”
“Are there marabouts on social media?”
“Ha. Plenty”
“And that Oyinbo man, is he a marabout too, hired by Nigerian politicians? You see, then, Lauretta knows what she is talking about. Too many things in this country are remote-controlled by remote forces and marabouts. The most dangerous ones are the marabouts who call themselves clerics, with big titles.”

“But I really don’t know why anyone would wish the President dead. That is wicked. It is a much better business to pray for the President to get well soon. We can organize prayer rallies and receive sponsorship from the private sector, government at all levels and their contractors. I am even surprised that holidays have not yet been declared for prayers yet.”

“You are right. Government can neutralize the wickedness of the marabouts by recruiting prayer warriors. Pastors and Bishops who can preserve, protect and promote with the sacred power of the Word. Imams who can talk directly to God and make things happen.”

“And the people who pray will smile and receive praise.”

“Candidly, I would love to recommend some Pastors and Bishops who will counter the marabouts and the other pastors with prayers that will destroy demons and principalities, fire-for-fire, back to sender!”
“We can even do a book, you know?. Powers, Demons and Principalities: A History of Nigerian Politics.”

“Where will you find the empirical evidence for that?” Sounds somehow.
“Don’t worry. Someone once got a Ph.D with a dissertation titled “A History of the Penis.”
“What? Strange things happen in this world.”

“Like what happened in Ibadan yesterday. That’s what I wanted to discuss with you before you brought up this matter about marabouts.”

“What happened?”
“First, let me ask you, how is that your Made-in-Oyo-state cousin? Where is she? She stands the chance of making a fortune before next week”

“How? She is fine. She is in Lagos.”
“Very good. I think she should just start going to Ibadan right now and get ready for a beauty pageant. I know her. She is beautiful and I am sure she will win the top prize.”
“I am lost. Free me.”

“The Oyo State Government is organizing a beauty pageant for ladies with tribal marks to celebrate the 2017 World Culture Day and to promote cultural tourism. The lady with the most beautiful tribal marks will go home with good prizes. In fact the state government declared that on Monday, May 22, civil servants and other persons in the state should wear traditional attires to work, play traditional games and eat traditional food.”

“Amala and gbegiri day.”
“You should ask why the pageant is only for beautiful ladies with tribal marks. Where are the men?”

“My cousin is over 40. She can’t go for a beauty pageant.”
“There is no age barrier. And your cousin is hot. She has the best tribal marks I have seen although I don’t understand why your Uncle, who is educated, should subject her to such violence.”

“Identity. Tribal marks indicate your place of origin. It was used in the age of slave trade and inter-tribal wars to properly identify persons who were sold into captivity or captured as prisoners of war. With their tribal marks, they could easily trace their way back home.”

“And that is what Oyo state is promoting in the name of cultural tourism in 2017? Nonsense. Who needs tribal marks in the age of the millennials? There are modern means of identification: your passport, driver’s license, national identity card, even your fingerprint and iris. So, what is Oyo state planning to celebrate – that tribal marks are good?”

“I just hope they will not insist on female genital mutilation or leviration as part of culture.”
“Certain aspects of our culture have been overtaken by modernity, science and technology. You can promote local fashion, but tribal marks? Made-in-Oyo state? Oh no. I hope they don’t end up at that beauty pageant with fake tribal marks, straight from Nollywood. Make-up artists are so good these days, they can inflict fake tribal marks on a face, the person wins and she walks away.”

“I hope that happens. As for my cousin, no, I am not even sure she is proud of the bold scars on her face. Not even the United Nations which declared a World Culture Day will be happy.”

“Tell them in Ibadan. If they want to promote culture, they owe the people good governance. That’s all. Culture is about the way we live, and the way we see the world as a people, community, group, society and government. It is a broad, dynamic, living organism. The Constituted Authority in charge of Oyo State should know that.”

“Yes. Yes. Yes oh. I was surprised though to see that they also have culture in Saudi Arabia.”
“There is culture everywhere.”

“Apart from Islam, I mean. I was surprised to see dancing, drumming and sword-waving at the reception for US President Donald Trump. The Americans seemed happy with Arabian culture.”

“You really believe that? I don’t think President Trump and his team give a damn about Saudi Arabian culture. The Secretary of Commerce danced, the President swayed awkwardly, and bowed to the king because the Americans were able to secure good business deals. Natural resources, construction contracts and sale of military equipment to Saudi Arabia worth $110 billion which Trump described as tremendous investments. The State Department celebrated how this could create tens of thousands of new jobs in the US.”

“I get your point. I saw Trump’s son-in-law high-fiving the National Security Adviser, H.R. McMaster.”
“And did you hear Trump talk about radical Islamic terrorism, human rights, or openly disparage Muslims the way he did during the campaigns? He didn’t. ”

“He mentioned something about radicalization and fanatical violence but he was obviously careful with words, and he played the politics of the region in a pragmatic manner.”
“You get it. Business is far more important than ideology or campaign rhetoric. In fact, Trump was practically sucking up to the Saudi Sunnis. That is a man who came to power condemning Muslims. That was sheer hypocrisy and opportunism at work. He played the same politics in Israel.”

“It is a fake world we live in. Fake Trump. Fake speech. It is sad though. While other countries are going round the world, looking for investments, Nigerian leaders are travelling here and there looking for marabouts and beautiful ladies with tribal marks!”

“And to think the social media is used to promote the fakery?”
“Social media?”
“Yes. It is a positive vehicle for democracy.”

“It is also a veritable vehicle for fake news. I am uncomfortable for example with the rise of twitter ghosts and masquerades.”
“I know what you mean. But there are remedies when people overdo things and violate other people’s rights. Twitter just sacked one twitter account called @SubDeliveryMan. The account has been used we are told, to invade people’s privacy, malign them and expose them to ridicule and yet the person behind the handle is totally anonymous.”

“Social media anonymity does not enhance democracy or free speech, it promotes mischief and the politics of hate. I am glad Twitter is doing something about it.”

“You know sometimes when I read what some people post on twitter. I wonder about their upbringing. I cringe. They just set out to hurt other people’s feelings.”
“Twitter has a responsibility to ensure that its platform is not abused by persons who have indecent motives.”

“The next account they should delete is @PObahiagbon. It is a fake account and Hon. Patrick Obahiagbon himself has said so. Identity theft is a crime.”
“You are sure it is not a parody account?”

“No. I also don’t like the idea of a parody account. It is easily abused. Free speech must be backed by a sense of decency and responsibility”

“The whole thing sounds like this marabout matter.”
“I think the real marabout matter in Nigeria is the on-going fake, auto-suggestive coup talk.”
“It shall be well with Nigeria.”

“A-a-a-a-men”.

PoliticsChief Bola Tinubu Warns Military - We Will Resist Any Coup Attempt by exlink10(op): 4:11pm On May 22, 2017
The All Progressive Congress , APC kingpin Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu has warned the military arm nursing any mutiny by conceiving the idea of planning a coup to desist from it, saying "we will resist any coup attempt by the military.

Tinubu vowed that Nigerians will resist any coup attempt by any section of the military. He reiterated this against the backdrop of rumors of some politicians having clandestine meetings with some military officers in a bid to take over power since President Buhari is away for medical checkup.

Recall that last week, Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Ge. Tukur Buratai, released a statement in which he warned Army officers to steer clear politics.

Reacting to the rumor, the APC chieftain said Lagos in particular will resist any coup attempt. Tinubu said this when he spoke at the Parliamentary Session at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Alausa, Ikeja, being orgainzed as part of activities in commemoration of Lagos@50 and second anniversary of the 8th Assembly of the Assembly.

In his words:

“I want to add my voice to that warning of coup attempt. They should not try it, those who want to break the democracy that many died for. You will have no fertile ground to plant the seed in Lagos. It is a bad product and I can assure you that we will reject it. Lagos will resist any form of action that plans to end the democracy we clamor for”he said

Christianity EtcDele Momodu Writes T.B Joshua An Open Letter by exlink10(op): 7:51am On May 20, 2017
Ovation Magazine CEO and singer Davido's in-law, Dele Momodu has written a touching and overwhelming letter to the general overseer of The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations, SCOAN, Prophet T.B Joshua who has threatened to leave Nigeria for Israel.

Read full later below...

My dear Prophet, I’m very certain this letter must come to you as a big surprise. But that is the nature of this column. It is in the character of Pendulum to swing in the direction least anticipated. Today, it has chosen to navigate itself towards you, my dear man of God.

For avoidance of doubt, please, permit me to quickly explain a point so that mischief-makers may not attribute spurious motives to this epistle. I’m not a member of your congregation. I have never been. You and I have never discussed religion or worship. I have never approached you for special prayers or miracles. But I have been a great fan of yours nonetheless, for very exceptional reasons. I shall explain in a jiffy why I admire you warts and all.

No human being is perfect, and I’m sure that includes you, despite being a man of God. I’ve read and heard torrents of good and bad tales about you. But didn’t I read and hear a deluge of fairy-tales about our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, your overall Master? It is normal for human beings to concoct true and imaginary tales about newsmakers. You have been a subject and victim of such incredible rumour-mongering over the decades that I have known you. Some have alleged that you are not a genuine disciple of God. They’ve alleged that you are fetish and use native jazz to heal miracle-seekers. Some have even called your miracles mere optical illusions. That you are nothing short of a magician but these myriad of detractors have never diminished your popularity globally.

I have continued to marvel at your awesome powers as demonstrated to the naked eyes on television, and two or more conclusions have emerged. If you use juju or whatever power to heal people, then it is positive healing. We all turn to doctors, pharmacists, surgeons and others in the days of medical challenges. The drugs we take emanate from herbs, local or foreign. The Indians and the Chinese in particular have been much wiser than us by developing their medicine to international standards. I have tried acupuncture in my adventurous days in Dubai and London. There is nothing wrong if God has given you special access to the secrets of herbs and roots. What makes it even more remarkable and extraordinary is that you escalate and amplify every miracle of yours with loud shouts of the name of Jesus. You’ve never called the names of other Gods or even witches and wizards on the pulpit. There are always local and international visitors to your synagogue of God. None has ever reported that he or she stumbled on an esoteric shrine perchance.

In fact, you have been a major source of foreign exchange earnings for Nigeria. It is difficult to imagine how many religious tourists pour into your church daily from different parts of the world. I’ve travelled extensively in Africa and beyond. There is hardly a flight I’ve flown on, especially in Africa, that I’ve not encountered your sworn and ardent followers. They love you endlessly and swear by your name. Many of them are distinguished personalities, well-educated and intelligent and not ignoramuses as many may wish to suggest. Presidents have attested to your miracles. I will mention one very good example that I am familiar with.

Long before the 2008 presidential election that ushered in President John Evans Atta-Mills in Ghana, you had called me one early morning to ask my opinion and projection ahead of the election. I remember telling you that Nana Akufo-Addo was tipped and favoured to win. Your response was that I was wrong and that God was going to perform a miracle for Professor Atta-Mills. True, the ways of God are not the ways of man. You went all out in your support for Atta-Mills, like you always do for people and causes you champion, and he actually won the election.

I was pleasantly surprised when you called me one early Sunday morning to invite me to the Synagogue. You said you remember how you had called me to support the aspiration of Atta-Mills and the useful tips I gave. Now that the man had won, he was coming for a thanksgiving service in your church and you felt it was only proper for me to be invited to attend. The service had ended by the time I meandered my way to Ikotun-Egbe, but I was fortunate and happy to meet Professor Atta-Mills in one of the private apartments you keep for your august visitors. I sat with Prof and probed him a bit about why he had travelled all the way to Nigeria in search of spiritual fortification. He told me in clear terms that he was not a buffoon and that as a Professor he was expected to act on empirical facts and not on raw sentiment or emotion.

Professor Atta-Mills said you had told him certain things that could never have been guess-work. For, example, he said you predicted with mathematical accuracy the unusual pattern and direction the election was going to take, the controversy that was going to come with it and the precise date the final verdict was going to be delivered, and they all came to pass. He said man being a natural doubter of things unseen should nevertheless not discountenance reality in the face of obvious facts. He said he was convinced that God was truly using you and he had no choice than to return to the Synagogue and publicly proclaim the power of God that had made the impossible possible through your intervention and intercession.

Let me now go to the relationship between us spanning nearly two decades. How did our paths cross? If my memory serves me right, I was approached by one of your media aides at the time, Jide Oshokoya, formerly of Today’s Choice magazine, who said you would like to meet with me. To cut a long story short, I accepted the invitation with mixed feelings. You had been much maligned by your traducers that I did not even know what to believe anymore. But as a good student of philosophy, I chose not to be as paranoid and sceptical as the French philosopher, Rene Descartes, who went to the extreme of doubting his own existence. I was prepared to meet you with an open mind but with every caution in case your intention was to turn me into a church member.

We met at the appointed time, after waiting for a while in a small restaurant on the ground floor before I was taken upstairs by your female staff. I felt a kind of tremor around you as everyone around was awestruck by you. The first thing I noticed was your simplicity and humility. You wore a round-neck t-shirt on top of jeans. We exchanged pleasantries and you told me how much you loved the creativity and originality that you saw in Ovation International magazine. I was flattered. You asked how much it would cost to be featured in such a high quality magazine and once we agreed on the figure you instantly booked 5,000 copies to be sent from our printers in London to the church. I was deeply touched because you did not beg for freebies. Many of our friends do not see media as business. They treat us as lambs of God who carry away the burden of the world, the main reason many media empires collapse ever before they are built.

Let me reiterate at this juncture that you’re a good man for being such a sympathetic benefactor. I never imagined the extent of your generosity until the magazines arrived from England and I asked when we could deliver to you. You shocked me to the marrow as you told me to send only ten copies and go ahead to distribute the remaining thousands of copies through our extensive network and make more money from it. What occurred to me immediately was your native intelligence. Only a sagacious and visionary person would have understood that it was better to spread the publication to every part of Nigeria than restricting it to only church members. Let me say thank you again for that huge support at a time we needed it. I do not forget favours, ever!

You have probably forgotten the next thing you did for us. Soon afterwards, I got another invitation from you, which I gladly honoured. As soon as we sat down, you told me you were in trouble with your beautiful and humble wife, and I asked why? You said your wife queried why she was not featured in the Ovation International magazine edition that had you on the cover. You told me you were surprised because she’s too introverted and had never asked for any form of publicity. I noticed that most of the time she was mingling freely with church workers and the congregation. She never acted like a Queen or First Lady of the church and this endeared her to me. You informed me the only remedy was for me to do another cover in our next edition for both of you. That was how you became probably the only family to feature back to back on our cover. I returned to London and produced an even better cover.

Our friendship grew in leaps and bounds. Though we did not see frequently, sometimes for years, we regularly phoned each other and bonded like brothers. Anytime you saw some wonderful news about me, you called to congratulate and appreciate me despite your breath-taking schedules. The most superlative of our encounters was in 2010 when you heard of my Presidential dream. You did not fold your arms to watch me from afar. I had just boarded a flight from J F Kennedy Airport in New York when my phone rang and you were on the line. “Alagba, where are you?”, you asked in your usual caring voice. I told you I was on a flight from America to London, and you told me to see you as soon as I arrived in Lagos. I was greatly humbled when you said you wished to discuss my presidential bid.

I visited you late one night and spent less than ten minutes, or so, with you. You told me I had no chance of winning the 2011 presidential election but encouraged me to go all the way. You assured me the experience would be very useful and that I would remain very relevant in the affairs of Nigeria, thereafter. Such a man of wisdom you are, Sir. You came in with two carrier bags and you told me they contained your financial contribution. Months later, you invited me again to your home and gave me further assistance despite knowing I could not win that election. You propelled me towards my goal and did not use the excuse of failure to discourage me. You earned my respect.

Let me give one more example of your uncommon love for fellow beings. About two years ago, I had to undergo cataract operations in London. The surgery went well and I was recuperating when suddenly, I received a call from you in the dead of the night. “Alagba, I have just heard about your eye problems.”, you said in that calm voice. I replied the operations were very successful and was grateful for your concern. You offered to offset the bills and I replied that few friends who heard about my ordeal, like Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, Tony Elumelu, Femi Otedola and Tokunbo Afikuyomi had all offered to assist. You still insisted on adding your widow’s mite. You texted repeatedly to ask for an account despite my reluctance. God will never desert you.

I have written all these examples as my personal testimonial to you. In a country where many try to hide behind one finger, I wish to stand tall and tell the world that you are a good man, even if others think or say otherwise. I have read that you wish to abandon Nigeria and migrate to Israel. It will never happen. You cannot and should not allow your enemies run you out of town. God has been very kind to you. Just look back and see your journey from way back in Ondo State. What more can God do for any man who has served him loyally and fervently like you have done.

My dear man of God, I align my voice with those who plead that you remain in Nigeria. I have chosen to do so publicly because I believe it is necessary.

You will see me very soon at your door.
All the best, in Jesus’ mighty name…

13yrs Old Escapes Death; Was Administered A Wrong Medication By A Nurse In Military Hospital

Why is it that Nigeria armed forces hardly admit a mistake when one is made? Part of being a grownup for God sake is admitting a mistake when you made one. A 13-year-old student of the Command Secondary School in Suleja, near Abuja, narrowly escaped death after being treated with the wrong medication by a nurse at the school clinic in Command Sec. Sch. Abuja, according to Sahara Reporters.

It was learned that the incident occurred on April 30 when the student sought medical treatment for having a high body temperature. After the drugs were administered to the student, he began to develop rashes all over his body. He also noticed that his lips were swollen and his eyes were red. Do you need a world class website for your business or oganization? Do you need help with online marketing? Click here

The situation worsened when the nurse abandoned him for three days. It was gathered that school authorities later called the student’s parents to inform them of the development, but by the time they arrived at the school, his condition had worsened to the point that he needed to be rushed to Kubwa General Hospital in Abuja to recuperate from the near-fatal experience..

The parents were told that their son had been given Augmentin and Paracetamol tablets, but tests conducted at the hospital revealed his reaction was caused by sulfur. A team of medical experts from NAFDAC reportedly corroborated the hospital’s findings, saying the negative reaction could have been avoided if the school had acted expediently.

Meanwhile, the commandant and management of the Command Secondary School have remained indifferent to the plight of the ailing student, who is still lying ill at the pediatric department of the hospital. The parents have accused the school authorities of dishonesty over the drugs administered. The matron of the school, Lt. Colonel B.S. Omoge, however, admitted that the boy had been administered Fansidar and Paracetamol.

Medical experts revealed that the teenager had suffered a medical condition called Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (SJS), which is a rare but serious condition arising from a severe reaction to taking certain drugs. .

The parents continue to seek redress over the authorities’ neglect of their ward for three days and failing to contact them for his medical history before administering the drugs.

FoodDishonesty & Corruption - See What A Lady Found Inside The Fish Pie She Bought by exlink10(op): 9:54am On May 19, 2017
Honestly, this is funny and at the same time so so disheartening. It seems nobody is honest in this country anymore and recession has made it worst. I re-posted a blog content where a US citizen lamented her frustration about the dishonesty of Nigeria and said 98% of Nigerians are scammers.

I wonder what she would say if she finds out that even pie makers are this dishonest? A lady resident in Port Harcourt, Rivers state, bought meat pie only to open it and find beans as the filling. What will we not see in this country?

BBNaija: Tboss Render Curses On People Cursing Her Mother "You Will Not Be A Parent"

Apparently, former Big Brother Nigeria controversial housemate cannot go a week without being on the media on the wrong reasons. This time, TBoss has lashed out at a follower who slammed her mum on Mother’s Day which was last Sunday.

Tboss shared this footage on her Instagram where she declared that those cursing her mum “will never be a parent”. According to her,

“Hi Boss Nation, once again, I want to say a massive thank you for your love and support while i was in the house and now that i’m out. I really prefer to show not tell, but maybe it’s time I address certain things.

“Since I’ve been back from the house, the pressure to show some activity has been immense. “Everyday I get comments that say, why don’tyou post more, why don’t you appear at places more? The question i’d like to ask in return is to what end?

“There is a saying that goes empty barrels make the loudest noise. I have a plan and goals for myself professionally and personally. I’m not posting or screaming about the meetings I’m having or giving progress reports because a lot of these things are confidential.

“I know that most of you wish me the very best, and to those I promise you, that making you proud and repaying your faith in me is my number one priority. I say most because there are still a handful of people who follow me for ulterior motives.

“I’m in competition with NOBODY. The BossNation doesn’t compete, we lead. The goal is not to have only one claim to fame – I was a Big Brother Naija Housemate. That game ended the minute I got out. This is real life and the stakes are huge.

Anyone, either female or male, cursing my mother, will never be a parent, Tboss curses on Instagram live

“In a short time, you’ll be able to see and hear about all I’ve been working on. Please bear with me, but remember this, the game is over and we’re playing in the big leagues now. Thank youBoss Nation! I love you.”

SportsFA Approves Sanctions On Players Who Dives To Mislead Referees by exlink10(op): 9:07am On May 19, 2017
Any player who dive in English football will face bans from next season under new FA rules. Under the new rules, passed by the governing body at its annual general meeting on Thursday 18th May, 2017, a panel will review footage each Monday looking for cases of simulation.

Any player unanimously found guilty of diving would be given a suspension. The FA also announced it has passed reforms it proposed in March, following criticism over the way it is run.

How the new ban will be implemented

According to BBC Sports, the FA defines the new offence for which players will be punished as "successful deception of a match official". Only incidents that result in a player winning a penalty or lead to an opponent being sent off - through either a direct red card or two yellow cards - will be punished.

The FA says it will act "where there is clear and overwhelming evidence to suggest a match official has been deceived by an act of simulation, and as a direct result, the offending player's team has been awarded a penalty and/or an opposing player has been dismissed".

Its panel will consist of one former match official, one ex-manager and one ex-player. The announcement follows what the FA said was "a period of consultation with stakeholders over the past few months". The rule change also required approval from the Premier League, the EFL and the Professional Footballers' Association.

Speaking in December, Burnley manager Sean Dyche said he thought diving would be eradicated from football "in six months" if retrospective bans were introduced.

Such bans have been utilised in Scottish football since 2011.
