A terrible gas explosion today in Adigbe area in Abeokuta, Ogun State left everybody speechless. The mayhem was so disastrous that many wonder how the amount of damage was done. Two persons were confirmed dead on the spot while several others were injured.

The sad incident occurred in the morning today being Thursday 26th January 2017 and seven people were also injured. The explosion occurred at about 11:00 a.m. when a welder was carrying out a repair work at RAB Engineering Petrol Station in the area which is believed to have triggered the chain of events.

Apart from the casualties, the explosion also triggered a powerful raging fire which razed over seven makeshift shops, a motorcycle parked near the scene before the operatives of the state Fire Service could halt the spread and the attendant destruction.

The Ogun State Director of State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Shakiru Adebakin, told journalists that the fire was caused by a man- made error that could have been averted if the owner of the filling station had adopted simple safety precaution. Adebakin said it was wrong to undertake welding activities in a petrol station without certain precautionary measures in place.

Senator representing Ondo State, Sen. Omoyele Omogunwa caused a drama in senate plenary hearing today. He made a radical contribution on the budget of 2017 by saying corruption should be legalized so that people that stole money will not be stashing it away and rather they will use it and build company to cub unemployment.

How can the people we elect to see to the interest of the people in the hollowed chambers be this callous? This is the more reason why i hate to deal with anybody that calls himself a pastor or a born again. They are merely hiding their true colours and to think that this man is a pastor is absurd. If you doubt is, checkout the pastor he used in running his election below.

Has was actually a PDP member and decamped to APC during the elections leaving PDP with no candidate on that position and i believe that is what gave him the gut to make this kind of statement today. So now once you become and APC member, you can't be corrupted or even prosecuted as we have seen in the case of SGF.

Sanusi Warns Wealthy Northerners - Stop Early Marriage & Send Your Girls To School

Former CBN Governor and current Emir of Kano, Mallam Muhammad Sanusi II on Thursday called on wealthy individuals in the North to use their wealth to educate the girl child instead of building mosques. He said this in his speech at the 3rd international conference on Islamic Banking and Finance, organised by the International Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance, Bayero University, Kano.

He also appealed to them to discourage early marriage of young girls.

In his words:

“I’m just tired of people coming to me to say I want to build a new mosque. You know, we keep building mosques and our daughters are illiterates.

“So, my appeal is that if you really want to help Kano, don’t come to me with a request to build a N300m mosque because I have enough mosques everywhere. And if I don’t have a mosque, I’ll build it myself. If you really want to help, go and educate a girl child in the village.”

Sanusi said over 50 per cent of girls between the age bracket of 18 and 20 were given out in marriage in the North. He said 75 per cent could neither read or write.

Speaking on the prevention of early marriage, he said “It is not a mere coincidence that this is where you have the highest levels of illiteracy, early marriage, divorce and the highest levels of domestic violence…

“People need to understand that the law has to change. If you look at the medical data on maternal health, girls who get pregnant below the age of 15 are five times as likely to die as girls who get pregnant at the age of 20. Those who get pregnant under 18 are twice as likely to die as those who get pregnant at the age of 20. So, it is important that we look at this issue of early marriage.”

first thing i said when i heard about the alleged 'mistake bombing' - we will know the truth some day.


thank God that day is here so fast already.

It is indeed shameful that two agency of the government will be involved in this kind of foolish and useless and "uncalled for" incident and to think that the Federal Government is planning to give the FRSC guns really really calls for great concern.

I will respectfully submit that this people charged with the safeguard of Nigeria, be it FRSC, VIO, NPF DSS etc needs to be retrained because they are out of control. Today i heard a news about a drunkard policeman who his gun when off again and thank God it didn't kill anybody this time. How long will we allow this to be happening?
