Suleiman Ibrahim Musa, Bilyaminu Usman and Lawal Suleiman, former members of staff of Fin Bank Plc have been sentenced to 91 years in prison by a high court in Kebbi state for conspiracy, forgery, theft and criminal breach of trust, Premium Times reports The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) brought a 16-count charge on the trio for defrauding the bank which was acquired by First City Monument Bank. It was reported that between 2008 and 2010, Mr. Musa, who was then the head of operations, defrauded the bank of N101, 707,000 while Usman and Suleiman, both tellers, collaborated to defraud the bank of N6, 627,500 and N6, 267,500 respectively. The banks had received different complaints from customers alleging unauthorized deduction from their accounts prompting a petition to the EFCC. The trio were arrested after it was uncovered that they had performed illegal withdrawals on customers account for up to three years. After five years of trial, the bankers were found guilty by Justice Ibrahim Mairiga, based on the evidence provided by the prosecuting counsel, Aisha Habib. “By considering the amount involved and weight of evidence presented before the court by the prosecution, which was never challenged by the defence, it shows that their wrongful act caused a great injury to the bank. “I therefore find the accused persons guilty as charged, and so convict and sentence them to 55 years, seven years and 29 years imprisonment respectively without an option of fine, with the jail term to serve concurrently” the judge ruled. The convicts were also ordered to return the stolen money to the bank. See more on http://www.exlinklodge.com/2015/08/3-bankers-sentenced-to-91-years-in.html cc lalasticlala |
The senators, in an advertorial said although it support the moves by the president to eradicate corruption on Nigeria, “the caucus is not happy with the current trend that seems to suggest that the war against corruption is selective and targeted at PDP stalwarts and states. The current war lacks transparency, fairness to all and appears to be aimed at political adversaries. It is on this ground that we condemn in particular what is happening in Akwa Ibom, Rivers and Abia state where election umpires are daily arrested, their families and associates hounded , and judicial officers involved in election tribunals intimidated and questioned using trumped up petitions bordering on corruption. Yet these officials were part of the 2015 elections that produced President Buhari an election adjudged to be generally free and fair by the international community.” The members of the upper legislative chamber also spoke on the current crisis rocking the national headquarters of the party. “May we use this medium to urge the staff of the PDP Secretariat to sheath their sword and to stop externalize internal matters in their working environment. As major stakeholders, we commend the efforts of the NWC of our great party the PDP and hereby pass a vote of confidence in the NWC under the leadership of the of the Ag National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus. We also salute the leadership PDP board of trustee (BOT) Dr Bello Haliru Mohammed and the dedication of our teaming supporters across Nigeria. We call for a speedy resolution of the disagreement between the secretarial workers and the management.” Meanwhile, Workers of Nigeria’s opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has offered an appology to the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) following a crisis that hit the party after the party leadership directed workers of the party to get a party membership clearance from their respective state chairmen. A woman who ran a brothel for 14 years has claimed that she was responsible for saving thousands of marriages during her time as a madam.Vivien Walden, 66, from Wilmslow, Cheshire, started in the sex industry as a 17-year-old, when she quit her secretarial job to become a stripper in London. Three years later in 1969, she started to offer sex to customers in the strip club and quickly became a full-time prostitute. But unlike many women who have spent years in the business, Vivien only has good memories of her career and says she is proud of her work. The pensioner is now campaigning to have prostitution legalised in England. Vivien, who claims she used to deal with hundreds of clients every day at her brothel, including A-List names, never planned to be a sex worker. Growing up in a Jewish family, her mother had high hopes for her daughter to become an actress. But after visiting a strip club with colleagues at her 9-5 office job during one lunch break in 1966, she became convinced that lap dancing would be a more glamorous option and spoke to the manager, who hired her on the spot. A few years later she decided to start selling her body to customers for some extra money on the side. Vivien was initially a stripper but soon became a prostitute and then a brothel owner. She told MailOnline: ‘You couldn’t get a bigger stage than the ones I was on in Soho. ‘The form of prostitution that follows stripping is being a hostess in clubs -you had to stay in the club for a certain time, make sure they were plied with champagne and then you could make your arrangements with the guy and do your own private thing.’ It was at one of these strip clubs that Vivien met her first husband Billy Walden, who she stayed with until he passed away from cancer in 1987. She said: ‘From there I met my first husband, Billy Walden, who was a professional footballer and played for West Ham. ‘Then from there, because I’d worked my body anyway, my husband opened clubs [in Manchester] and expected me to work there to earn the maximum amount of money I could, which I did. It made no difference to me. ‘He encouraged me – he always used to say to me that if I was a prostitute I’d be the best in the world.’ While many would see this as a strange relationship, Vivien maintains that she loved working as a prostitute and says it made her feel empowered. She said: ‘It’s empowering, without a doubt. It gives you the pleasure without feeling the sting. ‘You’re getting fun because nothing was ever done and not enjoyed and you’re getting money. ‘Once they leave, they don’t need to come back and you’ve been well rewarded for the sex you’ve had, which is hopefully pleasurable. ‘Often the girl is worshiped while also being paid for it.’ Over the years that she worked as a prostitute, Vivien claims that numerous famous men used to come and visit brothels she managed, supposedly safe in the knowledge that the women wouldn’t sell the story to the newspapers. She also claims that a large percentage of men who paid for sex were either married or virgins. When she finally opened her own brothel called The Toucan in Manchester in 1995, Vivien made a point of catering for all desires and claims she was one of the first businesses in the UK to start offering mature prostitutes. She said: ‘In my main brothel there were 28 girls. I had Russian girls, Brazilian girls, continental girls, Italian girls and Polish girls. ‘But it wasn’t how it is now. The girls were always vetted. I had to see their passports, had to see that they were clean, all my clubs were run professionally. I was a very good madam. ‘The girls would range in age from 18 years old to women in their 40s. A lot of men prefer mature women, which I was probably the first to bring in. ‘A good-looking, attractive mature woman, who knew her stuff. Nobody else was providing that service but men want that. ‘Younger men and older men want to relate to somebody their age. It isn’t just for sex, it’s everything that goes with it as well.’ In her largest brothel, Vivian would see more than 100 clients coming through the door every day. In the lobby, they would be offered a menu which showed what services were on offer, along with a list of prices. The prostitutes paid their rent for the month and then everything they made on top they could take home. Vivian said: ‘If you’re in a brothel, the price works by sexual acts and there are prices for it, but if you’re a hostess or an escort there’s a set price for your time, no matter what you do. ‘There were prices on a menu that the guys could chose to have but that’s the girl’s personal business when she went into the room. The Ogun State Chapter of the National Association of Nigerian Prostitutes (NANP), took to the streets of Abeokuta, the state capital, to protest the death of one of their colleague identified as Sitira or Titi, who was reportedly killed by suspected ritualists and dumped at a refuse site at Oloomore junction, in the town, few days ago. The deceased said to be 23-years-old, was reportedly murdered and vital parts of her body removed before her corpse was dumped by her killers, and her colleagues in the flesh business are not happy with the development and are now asking the police to get to the root of the matter and bring her killers to book or they will make the town ungovernable. The commercial sex workers, numbering over 50 and dressed in black, stormed the state secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Oke-Ilewo, urging the newsmen to carry the reports of their plight, harassment and dehumanising situation in their various media for all to see. Carrying lit candles, they chanted solidarity songs and rained curses on the unnamed killers of their colleague. “You have done something grievous, you have done something grievous by killing Titi prematurely. The killers of Titi (Sitira) have done something grievous. Their children will die, their children will die, those that killed Titi, will lose their children.” See more on http://www.exlinklodge.com/2015/08/prostitutes-on-rampage-in-ogun-over.html cc lalasticlala

The General Overseer of Mountain Of Liberation And Miracle Ministries (The Liberation City), Pastor Chris Okafor, fondly called ‘oracle of God’, has challenged Nigerians to pray against the plan of the Devil on the country, saying prayer was the only thing that could avert the impending doom. Prayer, according to him was necessary following a revelation he received from God. The popular Lagos-based pastor gave this warning during an interdenominational service held at the headquarters of his church. DAILY POST recalls that earlier this year, the servant of God predicted that a popular traditional ruler would join his ancestors. He said, “God revealed to me that if prayers are not offered, the air disaster may occur and would claim many lives.” According to him,in the vision, he saw an aircraft full of human blood and to this effect, he has called on all Nigerians to be vigilant and pray against an approaching air disaster that might shake the country. He went further to appeal to the management of the Nigeria Aviation sector to diligently carry out their duties - See more at: http://www.exlinklodge.com/2015/08/i-saw-aircraft-filled-with-blood-pastor.html#sthash.ogtMJY9I.dpuf cc lalasticlala

■Says strange man in dreams convinced him to do so In Nigeria, particularly among the Yoruba tribe where religious tolerance is most noticed, it is a regular occurrence to see muslims convert to Christianity. Hardly do we see a Christian turn to Islam. However, a man, former Pastor Adekunle Afolabi, founder and leader of Apata Adura Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Ekute, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, broke that jinx recently. He converted fully to Islam after practising Christianity for over 25 years and even risen to become the General Overseer of his church, which have branches across Ekiti State. Now known and addressed as Alfa Abubakar Afolabi, the 45-year-old man attributed his conversion to a divine encounter he had with a strange man in white in his dreams who showed him certain flaws in Christianity and convinced him that indeed Islam is the only religion that leads to heaven. In this interview with WOLE BALOGUN at his Ekute, Ado Ekiti residence, Alfa Abubakar spoke extensively on his experience. Excerpts: How did your journey to Islam begin? I am former Pastor Adekunle Afolabi, General Overseer and founder of Apata Adura Cherubim and Seraphim in Ekute, Ado-Ekiti, I have been a believer in Christianity for 25 years. I have been tutored at the Deeper Life Bible Church school in Ayobo, Lagos and my parents were attending the Assemblies of God Church. I later left the church to set up a C &S church where I became a Shepherd because God always reveals things to me either by vision or by dreams and to be candid, God reveals things to me and when God wants to make a confirmation of them, they always come to pass. The spiritual gift has enhanced my career as a cleric in Christianity such that my church grew so fast that by the time we were celebrating fifth anniversary, the church has had branches across the state and over 150 members attended my headquarters in Ekute alone. I have also become the state chairman of the association of our church unification in Ado. I was preparing for the anniversary when I started having dreams that eventually led to my conversion. At first in the dreams, I noticed my members were sitting on the floor in the church and some of them were covering their heads. I also saw that people were washing their hands and feet before entering the church just like it is done in Islam. In my canal thinking, I thought God wanted us to be washing our hands and feet before entering the church and I instructed my members to be doing so, some did, while others didn’t. I remembered when I was living in Ikere, around 1986, I used to attend a church then called the Church of Iya Olomi (Woman of holy water) in Ikere. There was an earthen pot in the church where we washed our legs before attending the church so I was thinking that may be that is what God wanted me to do. I went to buy an earthen pot in Ijebu and put it at the back of the church but something strange happened the day I did that, a heavy rain fell and erosion poured sand into the earthen pot that was filled with water and all the perfume and spiritual arrangement I put inside the water was spoilt. Then, I went to clean the pot and put another clean water again. To my surprise, when I was coming home I met little children at the earthen pot fetching water from it like a well. So, to avoid trouble in the neighbourhood, I dug out the earthen pot and made up my mind that it seems God is against what am doing. In another of my dream, I saw women in Hijab in the church, so on one Sunday I informed my congregation that at the forthcoming anniversary, all women should come with hijab. Only 10 people adhered to the instruction during that period but I was yet to be converted. After that, certain strange things began to happen in my dreams, I would notice that someone comes to me, wakes me up and then take me on a journey to somewhere, there the man will ask a question: he said do I know if the way I was taking in life is the right one?,I told him, yes since I do pray to God and he answers me. But he asked me again that what makes me believe I was right and I told him that since I can pray to God and he answers me. He asked me again that do I believe that God could write Quran in Arabic to people for them to know his teachings, I said to him I don’t know but knew that some people use Arabic as language. He then called my attention to my left hand, there he told me to open my palm which I did and he asked if I knew that the first line in my left hand stands for eight and the second stands for one which go for 81. He added that on my right hand, the first line stands for one in Arabic and the other stands for eight and that if these are added together, they are equal to 99 which stands for the ninety nine names of Allah. He said this means that Allah wrote his name on the palms of all human beings in Arabic. I was baffled because I never had any knowledge in the Quran, so I decided to go and research on it. It got to a point that my wife and I started attending the mosque together and one day, an alhaji around my neighbourhood saw me coming out of the mosque, he was so surprised and challenged me and I told him everything that occurred to me which led me to the mosque. He told me that I must not keep this to myself so he advised me to keep walking in God’s way in Islam and stop preaching in the church but call on Imam or alfa to come and preach. Eventually, I ended up inviting an Imam, a muslim cleric to preach in my church during our fifth anniversary last year. The church members were surprised as the Imam preached. After the anniversary, the same man came to me in my dreams and tasked me on payment of tithe in my church, saying I should stop collecting it. So, the next Sunday I stopped collecting tithes from the congregation. Of course, the church members were not all happy, some went to another church because they can’t continue with this type of doctrine and that was how the number of the congregation continued to reduce day after day. I nearly got fed up, but I made up my mind that I won’t go back on my decision and religion and when it got to January ending, I made up my mind fully to convert to Islam. As a prophet in C and S, you would be doing some spiritual work for people, now that you are now in Islam, do you still do the works? Rendering spiritual help is given to all men by God for their own use, so the wisdom of it is given to me by God, he didn’t take it away from me because that is different from religion. It is a way of livelihood so, if any one falls sick, wants to give birth, is having stillbirth, stagnation at work, that is all what we use that for. He showed me places in the Bible where many prayed to God in Islamic way. By this praying, I mean to kneel down and bow down your head and face down. How have your wife, relatives, friends and in-laws reacted to your newfound faith? They have always known me to be truthful with whatever I’m doing and they respect me for that and also respect my decision, so there hasn’t been any cause for alarm. The only person who at a time opposed it was my wife because she was a Christian when I married her. She said she would quit the marriage and I said it is okay and that I don’t want to die a Christian but would rather die a Muslim. But after a while, she discovered that we haven’t been worshipping any idol, that we have always been worshipping God. She came back and accepted me this way. Also, my children are supporting me and have joined me. What about those who were your colleagues when you were in Christianity as a church leader? They all left me the day I invited an Imam to come and preach in my church. That day of our anniversary. I have also been relieved of my position as president of our association. The only thing the pastors do once in a while is to call to ask me if indeed I still want to continue in the new faith and I usually confirm it. As for friends, some have stayed while others have left. Have you now become a leader in Islamic faith? No, I am still learning to be deeper in Islam. I had over 150 members in the church before but they have all left now. My church before has now been converted to a mosque and it is being attended by many muslims now that I cannot even count them. An Imam is currently running the mosque while I am also there as an Alfa, learning more about the religion. How many wives have you now? The Bible does not oppose marrying more than one wife. It says if you want to marry another wife, you must ensure that you treat her the same way you are treating the ones or one you have already married. The Bible only says that for those who want to become Bishops, they should marry only one. Now you have only one wife, is it likely that you will marry another wife? No. I have married some women before. Now, I cannot marry another woman. That is not in my plans. My first born is about 22 years old. You know that there is this common opinion that religion does not really matter, whether you are a Christian, Muslim or traditionalist, your relationship with God matters most in getting to heaven, what is your view on this saying? All I can say is that anyone who wants to go to heaven should just accept Islam peacefully. Islam to me now, is the only way to God. No other way. You have spoken against collecting tithes, and said you have stopped collecting tithes from your members, are you concerned that you may not get money to run the mosque since that is a major way to get money? All I can say about that is that God’s words advise that when we have, we should be grateful and also when we do not. Before I stopped collecting tithes, I have members who usually give me about N20 000 or N10 000 but I still have to stop collecting it in obedience to God. Now, I don’t collect tithe from anyone but Islam permits people to do saka, which is just a voluntary attitude to contribute to someone’s or an alfa’ or just extend mercy or what we call Sadaka.http://sunnewsonline.com/new/incredible-church-general-overseer-converts-to-islam-in-ekiti/

Nigeria’s opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has disagreed with the country’s apex bank, Central Bank of Nigeria decision to bar foreign currency deposits into domiciliary accounts. In a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, the party said the absence of an economic team at the moment, especially in the third month of the administration, was leading the country into economic quagmire and doldrums. It said the CBN decision is illegal, unlawful, void, archaic and communist in nature. The party also the regulations of the foreign exchange transactions in Nigeria where the administration was making it impossible for honest Nigerians to engage in free trade and regulate their personal activities as guaranteed by the constitution, was clearly an agenda to illegally impose a communist economic regime on Nigerians. “The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) wishes to bring to the notice of President Muhammadu Buhari that the apparent absence of an economic team in the third month of his administration is leading the country into economic quagmire and doldrums. “In the past, we had given examples of the devastating effect of lack of an economic team and a clear-cut fiscal policy by this administration as evidenced in the lull and painful decline in the stock market, spiral rate of inflation, the disastrous outing of the government team in bilateral talks during the recent visit to the United States of America and the shambolic state of our economy at present. “This confusion has been extended to operations and regulations of the foreign exchange transactions in Nigeria wherein the government is making it impossible for honest Nigerians to engage in free trade and regulate their personal activities as guaranteed by the constitution, and this is clearly an agenda to illegally impose a communist economic regime on Nigerians. “The most disturbing aspect of this communist economic agenda is the illegal and unlawful attempt to repeal the provisions of the Foreign Exchange Monitoring And Miscellaneous Provisions Act, otherwise known as Decree No 17 of 1995 and replace it with unilateral imposition of new regulations. “This Act remains the subsisting law regulating the operations of domiciliary accounts in Nigeria and by its provisions therefore, Nigerians are empowered to freely open and operate domiciliary accounts - See more at: http://www.exlinklodge.com/2015/08/pdp-kicks-against-cbns-ban-of-foreign.html#sthash.dUrpac9p.dpuf cc lalasticlala seun

The deceased, whose father was the owner the hotel was said to have locked himself up in the room, only for his dead body to be found later, Nigerian Tribune reports. According to report, the hotel workers had alerted the police when Egwuenu had locked himself up in the room for longer hours. A source from around the hotel at Plot 59 Ire Akari Road, Isolo, said the body was already swollen when it was discovered. Another source close to the hotel, who spoke to NAN in Lagos said: “The deceased was last seen in the early hours of Friday before locking himself up in one of the rooms. Nobody heard from him throughout Friday. “The assistant manager and other staff of the hotel reported the matter at the Isolo Divisional Police Headquarters, which prompted the DPO’s visit to the hotel for assessment. The DPO and others forced the room open and Uche was found dead and swollen on the bed, an indication that he died more than 24 hours before discovery. “White liquid substance suspected to be hard drugs, diary and a bottle of Orijin drink with mixed liquid, were recovered from the room.” The corpse was removed by policemen from Ire Akari police station and deposited at the morgue. Confirming the incident, the acting image maker in charge of the state police command, Patricia Amadin, said that a liquid substance was still trickling out of the deceased’s mouth when the police forced the door open. - See more at: http://www.exlinklodge.com/2015/08/hotel-manager-found-dead-in-his-room-in.html#sthash.fC0kVV9D.dpuf seun ishilove |

Kissing has overtaken smoking and drinking as the leading risk factor for developing head and neck cancers. The humble French kiss can pass on human papilloma virus (HPV), and Head of Maxillofacial and Head and neck Surgery at the Royal Darwin Hospital, Dr Mahiban Thomas, said the virus was responsible for a ‘tsunami’ of cancer cases. Dr Thomas told NT News if you became infected by HPV in the oropharynx, your risk of developing head and neck cancer was 250 times higher than that of someone without the virus. While most commonly associated with cervical cancers in women, HPV can affect both men and women. There are more than 100 types of the virus, but it is ‘Oral HPV’ that can cause cancers in the oropharynx. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said studies suggested Oral HPV could be passed on during MouthAction or open-mouthed or ‘French’ kissing, and about 7% of people have oral HPV, but only 1% of people have the type of oral HPV that is found in oropharyngeal cancers. ‘’High-risk behaviours are MouthAction, multiple kissing partners, and more recently there are reports even ‘petting’ can lead to infection,’ Dr Thomas told NT News. “If someone has kissed in excess of six people their risk of contracting HPV is higher, or if someone has kissed in excess of nine people the risk is significantly higher again,” Dr Thomas said. - : http://www.exlinklodge.com/2015/07/papilloma-deadly-virus-is-real-and-more.html#sthash.cjYbw4it.dpuf
