PoliticsPDP - Led Govt. Of Squandered N7tn In Five Years Says Femi Falana by exlinkleads(op): 6:42am On Jul 14, 2015
Ademola Babalola in Ibadanâ

The administration of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan was monday alleged to have squandered N7trillion in five years ‘to boost the egos of its ruling class members.’

A Lagos-based human rights lawyer and activist, Chief Femi Falana (SAN), made this accusation at the University of Ibadan yesterday while moderating the process for the selection of a new Vice-Chancellor for the institution.
The tenure of the incumbent, Prof Isaac Adewole, terminates in four months time.

Apparently miffed by the ongoing criticisms trailing the recent intervention of the President Muhammed Buhari administration to bail out states which could not afford arrears of salaries of their workforce through a special intervention given to states, Falana said those opposing such moves are going against the dictates of the Bible where it is said the labourer deserves his wage, adding that: “Those opposing a good life for poor masses must have their heads examined.”

Falana said: “The labourer deserves his wages and anybody who is challenging the decision of the president as to the bail-out must have his head examined. Rather, we should be challenging the bail-out that has been given to the comprador-burgiosie in the last five years which is over N7 trillion. AMCON was set to take care of the debt of the rich who took billions from our banks and could not pay back.

In one fell swoop N5.6trillion debt was taken over by that institution. In the last five years, N780billion was given to the Bank of Industry to revitalise our ailing industries. Where are the industries? N200billion for Aviation Intervention Fund. N200billion agriculture intervention fund, N100 billion textile intervention fund, N213billion to those who bought PHCN, and are currently giving us darkness. Over N7trillion has been given to our parasitic ruling class in the last seven years and that is why the university must join issues with the ruling class to tell them that the country is not being governed well.

“The federal government promised an intervention fund of N1.3trillion for the revatilisation of the universities but only released N200billion in 2013 just to call off the strike and since then, nothing has been released. The University of Ibadan must ask government relevant questions. If you do not allow our children to practice democracy in tertiary institution they will end up going to the National Assembly to fight themselves as the current assembly members are doing.”

To this end, Falana specifically tasked Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to ask questions over the N1.3trillion promised intervention by the past government out of which only N200billion was released since 2013.

While urging the university to allow students’ unionism to allow for leadership training for students, the human rights lawyer said denying students to practice leadership at students’ union level might not augur well for Nigeria as such might go to National Assembly to start fighting as the present National Assembly members are doing.

He also challenged the university to continue to engage government on issues and educate the public on key public issues in order to make the Institution maintain its relevance.

The programme, which was organised by the staff unions on the campus (ASUU, NASU, SSANU and NAAT) under the chairmanship of Professor Nelson Fashina, said the forum was to allow for a dialogue with the university community and be able to hold any of the candidates accountable for the promises they made while campaigning.

Those who presented their agenda among the aspirants were Professors O.O. Layiwola (Institute of African Studies), O.O. Akinyinka (Pediatrics), F.O. Egbokhare (Linguistics and African Languages), B.O. Fagbemi (Veterinary Microbiology and Parasitology). Others were Professors L. Popoola (Forest Resources Management), A.I. Olayinka (Geology), A.I. Oluleye (Industrial and Production Engineering), O.D. Olaleye (Virology), A.E. Falaye (Aquaculture and Fisheries Management) and A.A. Agbaje (Political Science).

PoliticsSpeaker Gives Condition For Removal Of Fuel Subsidy - See Details by exlinkleads(op): 6:21am On Jul 14, 2015
Damilola Oyedele in Abuja

As the debate on the removal or retention of fuel subsidy continues, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, has explained that an amendment to the Price Control Act (PCA) either by its board or by the National Assembly, is the only lawful way to remove fuel subsidy.

Speaking when he received the national executive of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) on a courtesy visit in Abuja yesterday, Dogara explained that Section Four of the PCA outlines regulating or controlling the prices of products that are listed in the first schedule of the Act, among them petroleum products.

“But the law as passed by parliament gives a window of prescribing, vesting the responsibility of adding up items on the schedule of the given items to the Price Regulating Board and I am not sure we have that board in place,” he said.

Dogara added that for any discourse on the matter to be meaningful, pressure has to be put on the executive to constitute the Board, whose members are prescribed by the Act, the Board can then decide to remove petroleum products from the list.

“But in the absence of that, the only other alternative is for the NASS, amenf the act, removing petroleum products as one of the products in the schedule to the act or repeal the act all together. These are the only two avenues by which subsidy can lawfully be removed. Any other way will be ultra vires in abolishing subsidy,” he added.

The Speaker lamented that Nigeria is the only oil producing country that still exports its crude for refining outside its shores, a development which along with attendant factors results in fuel scarcity.
“This has turned us into a laughing stock, our citizens spend several man hours queuing for a product that should just be there,” he said.

The National President of IPMAN, Mr. Chinedu Okoronkwo, speaking earlier disclosed that the association is partnering with a Peruvian firm; Water Carbon Field Energy, for the construction of two refineries in Bayelsa and Kogi States with capacity to refine 400,000 barrels per day.

Okoronkwo noted that the investors are willing to commit about $4billion into the project for which land has already been secured in both states, adding that the project would create jobs, prevent capital flight and reduce fuel scarcity. - See more at: http://www.exlinklodge.com/2015/07/speaker-gives-condition-for-removal-of.html#sthash.nFs89YvF.dpuf

I don't know how he came up with the idea but I doubt he will try it again after his experience. James McElvar, 19 (pictured above) an upcoming singer with a Scottish group called Rewind, collapsed from heat exhaustion on a plane because he was wearing all his clothes - all 12 layers of them comprising of 6 t-shirts, 4 jumpers, 3 pairs of jeans, 2 pairs of jogging bottoms, a pair of jackets and two hats to avoid paying excess luggage fee. The airline told him he was carrying too many luggages and he would have to pay £50 for excess baggage. To avoid paying the money, he wore his clothes.

He was on his way from London to Glasgow when his body temperature sky-rocketed, causing him to have a fit and pass out at 37,000 feet. He was attended to by an off-duty paramedic, before being rushed to hospital on arrival at the airport. - See more at: http://www.exlinklodge.com/2015/07/lmao-boy-collapses-in-plane-after.html#sthash.8ZpVpUiG.dpuf

I thought I was doing my clothier a favour when I decided to take her as my second wife; I never knew or perceived the mess I was getting myself into until we started living as a couple.” – These were the words of a 44-year-old butcher, Adam Yusuf, who yesterday urged the Lagos Island Customary Court to dissolve his eight-year-old marriage to Aminat.

He accused her of disrespecting him and his first wife.

“She sold cloths to me at abattoir and when I got to know she was chased out of previous husband’s house because she had no child, I told her I was going to assist her by impregnating her,” he said. The petitioner, who lives at 12, Enuowa Street in Lagos, said he rented a two-bedroom flat for her but she insisted she wanted to live with him and his family.

He said: “ She was always at loggerheads with tenants. Almost everyone in fear avoided her trouble in the neighborhood.”The petitioner said she moved in to his house without notice, adding that he was forced to give her a room to avoid her trouble.

“I was sad because my first wife wasn’t expecting such incident to happen. We built where we live with our hard earned money,” he said. Yusuf said the respondent once beat him and his wife up.
“I left my house seven months ago due to lack of peace. I sneak to the house I built whenever I want to see my family. It is that bad, “ he said.

About 272 Teachers have been killed by Boko Haram group since the insurgents began its onslaught in the north east region, while over 19,000 teachers have been displaced, president of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Micheal Olukoya has said.

According to a report by The Nation, Olukoya further revealed that 37 teachers have been confirmed dead following the Tuesday’s bomb blast in Sabon-Gari, Zaria in Kaduna State, while several other teachers who were victims of the latest bomb blast are currently in critical condition in different hospitals in the states.

Olukoya stated this in Abuja at a programme commemorating the NUT founders day adding that the renewed daily attacks by the sect was indicative that the war against insurgency in the country was far from over.

He argued that retirement age of University lecturers and judges was recently shored up from 65 to 70 years because of the assumption that they tend to perform better having garnered enough experience in the course of service.

Romance10 Things Almost EVERY Man Has Done With His Penis… UNBELIEVABLE!!! by exlinkleads(op): 4:35pm On Jul 02, 2015
Do you know how much men love their joysticks?

Well, if you are not a man, then you may not actually know much love men have for their pleasure tools and how much they love to play with them.
To a man, the penis is an emblem of manhood, his pleasure grove, and his unique selling point– the things that sets him apart. In fact, the average man will not exchange his penis for anything in the world.

Well, here are 10 things almost every man has tried at least once:
1. Tuck it behind our legs to form a vagina.Yes, we do this and this turns us into
2. Women until we release the penis again.
3. Try to make it dangle without using the hands. A man can move his penis by mental command only, especially when the penis is erect.
4. Push it back into the foreskin. Sometimes we like to make the penis disappear into its skin, like a snail going into its shell. Only a flaccid penis can do this.
5. Flick it when it is erect. This is painful, but we still do it for the fun of it. An erect penis will spring forward and bounce back if flicked.
6. Peep into it… heehehehe. Some of us look into the tip, prying with one finger to expose the red flesh inside.

Looking at how Nigeria has depleted to what I cannot describe in just one month of President Buhari's regime, one may be considering/preferring the regime of our former amiable president in the person of Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

Are you that person?

You however cannot hide the fact that Buhari have failed to deliver on a single promises he made during election. Some people will ague that it is too early to start judging, but the still remains that he hasn't delivered yet and things keep going from bad to worst.

I can go on and on but lets leave it here for now. oh I forgot to mention that a dollar is 230 now and could be 240 this week according to economist. So much for 1 dollar equal to 1 naira.

PoliticsNaira Falls To 230, Dollar Supply Dries Up - Change Indeed by exlinkleads(op): 1:42am On Jul 02, 2015
These are definitely not interesting times for the nation’s economy, particularly the national currency, the naira, no thanks to the depleting reserves and the subsequent banning of importers of 41 items from the foreign exchange market by the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Barely 10 days after the CBN stopped forex sale to importers of rice, textile and 39 other items, the naira on Wednesday crashed to 230 against the United States dollar at the parallel market, down from 218 recorded on June 23 when the new forex rule was introduced.

The policy, which has pushed huge forex demand from the interbank (official) market to the parallel (black) market and the Bureau de Change retail segment, has led to artificial scarcity of dollar and other major foreign currencies as operators now hoard them in anticipation of higher prices.

The naira had fallen to 220, 223, 226.5 and 228 against the dollar in the past one week. Black market and BDC operators, however, told our correspondent that serious dollar liquidity squeeze was already hitting the market and operators were no longer in possession of huge stock of forex to meet rising demands, especially from the importers of the banned items.

Read More News On www.exlinklodge.com

Using the CBN figures, analysts had estimated that about $5.7bn quarterly forex demand was being transferred from the official interbank market to the black market. “The situation is getting critical now. There is serious dollar liquidity squeeze in the market now. The demand is overwhelming and both the black market and the BDC segment can no longer meet the demand,” a black market operator told our correspondent on Wednesday.

“The market is very volatile now as a result of the restrictions placed on about 41 items by the central bank. Most importers are now patronising the parallel market to source their dollars,” the head of a BDC, Mr. Harrison Owoh, told Reuters on Wednesday,.Meanwhile, the Association of Bureau De Change Operators has written to the CBN asking it to intervene in the dollar scarcity in the parallel market and the BDC segment to save the naira from crashing further.

In the letter, a copy of which was obtained by our correspondent, the association expressed its readiness to work with the CBN to stabilise the market. The letter, signed by association’s President, Alhaji Aminu Gwadabe, and Executive Secretary, Uduma Cletus, advised the CBN to increase its weekly forex sale to the BDCs from $30,000 to $50,000.

The body also asked the central bank to reintroduce the autonomous market where it could sell about $100,000 to the operators. Gwadabe told our correspondent that it was expedient for the CBN to increase its forex sale to the BDCs in order to stabilise the naira.

Some analysts believe the naira may hit 240 against the dollar in the coming days. However, the naira traded at 198.95 to the dollar at the interbank market on Wednesday, according to Reuters. The central bank had lowered its exchange rate peg to N196.95 to the dollar on Tuesday from N196.90 last week

Also, a trade of $735.74m went through on Nigeria’s interbank currency market at N198.45 on Wednesday, Thomson Reuters data showed. - See more at: http://www.exlinklodge.com/2015/07/naira-falls-to-230-dollar-supply-dries.html#sthash.Zejp54vn.dpuf
