Mogidi:
Anyone who wants to ignite our polity should try it.

The polity is already on fire..yes...Osokomole started it when he used 7 Lawmakers to impeach the speaker;
He started it when he vandalised the chief Judge Office and beat up other judges
He started it when he was busy hiring 100 thugs who will be resuming daily in the Assembly house to deal with Lawmakers
He started it when he was destroying the PDP by handpicking neophytes to contest elections instead of allowing those who laboured in the party to go...
He started it when he was busy lying that Buhari wears Pampers like his mother
He started it when he wished GMB death on the front page of national newspapers

Surely he should burn in the fire that he kindled...Law Of Karma

Politics / Gov. Ayo Fayose-going...going...(see PHOTOS) by expressglory: 5:06pm On Apr 10, 2015
All is not well with the self acclaimed Senior Advocate Of the Masses-Mr Ayodele Fayose the governor of Ekiti state.Apart from the fact that he failed to stop the house from pursuing the impeachment process, the 19 Lawmakers finally sat in Ado-Ekiti yesterday and directed the Chief Judge to set up a panel to probe the governor. This is the second to the last step in the impeachment proceedings.

During the crisis that rocked the city of Ado Ekiti earlier in the week, there are solid indications that 'power has changed hands'.For example, the security details of the speaker,Dr Wale Omirin, was restored while a close associate of Fayose-his commissioner for works(Mr Kayode Osho) was thoroughly beaten by the police and arrested...(though he was released the second day)

Ekiti State Commissioner for Works Mr Kayode Oso, Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters Ademola Bello and four others were yesterday arrested by the police at the vicinity of the House of Assembly.

Reports suggest that Kayode Oso, Ademola Bello and the others were among the loyalists of Governor Ayo Fayose who laid ambush at the precincts of the Assembly complex, waiting for the 19 All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmakers. Also arrested are Adeyanju Oluwole, Raphael Adebayo, Babajide Adebayo and Wasiu Ogunsakin.

Police sources said they were arrested with one black colour Ford pick-up van with registration number EK 05-B27 and one blue Toyota Hilux van with registration number AA 363 YEK. The two vehicles which belongs to the state government, were carrying weapons, including nine live cartridges, 10 cutlasses, charms, fake US dollars, a carton of Regal dry gin, a parcel of Indian hemp and six 2liter kegs of kerosene/acid.

Some of the thugs in the entourage reportedly escaped during their encounter with the policemen. Police Commissioner Taiwo Lakanu could not be reached for comments on phone proved abortive as he did not pick his calls. Neither did he reply text messages sent to his cell phone as at press time.

Police spokesman Alberto Adeyemi, in a text message, said he was not aware of the arrest.

Just yesterday, reports from Ekiti state made it known that the 19 All Progressive Congress (APC) lawmakers pushing for the impeachment of the state governor, Ayo Fayose were dealt with by the officials of the Nigerian army.

Politics / Fayose's Impeachment:Police Divided,Police Commissioner Redeployed by expressglory: 12:22am On Apr 08, 2015
The impeachment crisis rocking Ekiti took a new twist earlier today. The police having restored the security details of the APC speaker is perceived to be leaning to the side of the embattled speaker...Mr Omirin. But insiders revealed that during the protest (engineered by the Governor's radio talk yesterday who literally called all his supporters to the street) some Policemen were dismantling the total roadblocks while some were actually seen erecting the roadblocks.
With the obvious division in the Police force and the rumored re-deployment of the State Commissioner of Police ekiti citizens may be in for a long seasonal film!

Politics / Fayose's Impeachment-police, DSS Restore Ekiti APC Speaker's Security by expressglory: 10:34pm On Apr 05, 2015
In a sudden twist of fate, the Police authorities have directed that the full security details of the factional Speaker of the Ekiti state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Adewale Omirin, be restored with immediate effect

The development follows in the heels of the restoration of the State Security (DSS) personnel attached to Omirin earlier today (Sunday) by a directive from Abuja, a source close to the Speaker told our correspondent.
It is expected that the Omirin-led lawmakers would hold a plenary session at the Ekiti state House of Assembly on Tuesday, having adjourned after their sitting last Thursday at the same venue.
The 19 All Progressives Congress lawmakers in the Ekiti State House of Assembly had last week initiated moves that may lead to impeachment proceedings against the embattled Governor Ayodele Fayose.
The Speaker forwarded a notice of gross misconduct to the governor, a copy of the notice was also sent to his deputy, Dr. Olusola Eleka.
But Fayose in his characteristic manner said the APC lawmakers should stop acting like “jesters”, describing the purported impeachment notice as the “joke of the century.”
According to him, the script being acted by the APC is a failed one because no one, no matter how highly placed, will be allowed to test the will of the Ekiti people.
In the letter by the 19 lawmakers titled, “Re: Notice of Allegations of Gross Misconduct,” sent to Fayose, the APC lawmakers listed eight impeachable offences against the governor. These offences bordered on impunity, brigandage, stalking and other constitutional breaches.
These included alleged invasion of the House of Assembly with thugs and miscreants, instigating an unconstitutional takeover of the House by seven legislators to sit in contravention of Section 96(2) of the 1999 Constitution, and prevention of the 19 APC legislators from performing their duties with the use of security agents and armed thugs.
Other allegations listed in the notice are: sponsoring an unlawful impeachment process in the house, spending Ekiti State funds without the requisite constitutional approval in contravention of the constitution and running the government without legally constituted Executive Council in contravention of Section 192(2) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
They also accused the governor of operating an illegal 2014 budget as well as sponsoring and instigating illegal sitting of the House in contravention of Section 96(1) of the Constitution.

Politics / Re: Ekiti Again:fayose's Men Disrupt APC Victory Celeberations by expressglory: 1:33am On Apr 02, 2015
Crisis returned to Ekiti State on Wednesday as gunmen attacked the All Progressives Congress Secretariat and jubilant members of the party.

The APC members had just returned from the streets of Ado Ekiti where they had gone to celebrate the victory of the APC candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), in the Saturday’s Presidential election.

The state Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatubosun, who addressed journalists in Ado Ekiti after the attack, said the gunmen came in three Hilux vans with Government House number plates with three men in Police uniform sitting in the front.

Accusing Governor Ayodele Fayose and the Police of complicity in the attack, he said the party had earlier got information that plan was being hatched by some top officials in the government house to prevent any celebration in the state.

He alleged that the gunmen were members of a killer gang sent to disrupt the APC victory party by the governor.

But Fayose said the attack was a self-sponsored attack by the APC to make it look like an attack from outside, urging the people to disregard the allegations.

Olatubosun wondered why the hoodlums attacked the Secretariat unchallenged in the presence of a detachment of police led by the Divisional Police Officer of the Ologede Police Station, Ado Ekiti, that had provided security for the victory party.

According to him, the gunmen brandishing guns, cutlasses and axes, rained bullets on the secretariat and destroyed no fewer than five cars parked at the secretariat.

Olatunbosun mentioned Femi Ogunleye (aka Akilapa), Basiru Ajagbe, Ayo Terrorist and Opeyemi Atiaro as the leaders of the attack.

The intensity of the attack, he said, forced party members and passers-by to scamper for safety.

“We had few members left when they came because some of our teeming members who held a peaceful victory procession were already leaving before they came. They shot at our secretariat.

“We were aware that they were coming but we never knew Governor Fayose could do anything funny because of the mood of the nation, though, we heard him boasting that he won’t allow anyone to mark the victory of Buhari in Ekiti State,” he said.

But the Commissioner of Police, Taiwo Lakanu, while denying that Police supervised the attack said the timely response of his men led by the Area Commander saved the situation.

“We received information that there was an attack on APC secretariat and I deployed a team there led by Area Commander. They succeded in flushing out the miscreants.

“We are still making effort to arrest the miscreants. We have information on those who perpetrated the act. Our timely arrival scared away the miscreants. I am telling you categorically that my men will never be involved. That is a mere exaggeration. Ologede DPO was not there.”

The victory celebrations of APC supporters ended abruptly this afternoon as men believed to be thugs of the ruling party(PDP) attacked the crowd with guns and cutlasses.Eye witness account said that some of the celebrating APC supporters were seen attempting to tear Jonathan/Sambo wall posters during their victory match through Ajilosun/ejigbo area of the town. Some were seen bleeding while at least one fatally injured person was carted away by a State owned Toyota Hilux Pick Up.
It will be recalled that Fayose imposed a dusk till dawn(7.30pm-6.00am) curfew on the town yesterday to stop "unnecessary celebrations".

Politics / Why Jonathan Should Go Home By Azubuike Ishiekwene by expressglory: 11:16am On Mar 27, 2015
It gets to this moment, the moment when lies run their full course and ugly twisted tales are laid bare. It’s the moment of truth. Four years and 10 months after Goodluck Jonathan assumed office as president, it’s time for reckoning.

In Jonathan’s early days in office, I remember a conversation I had with someone very close to him, someone who had known him since his days as deputy governor in Bayelsa and who became very close to him when, as vice president, he had oversight of the Bureau for Public Enterprises which oversaw the privatisation process, including the independent power projects.

After one of his numerous meetings with Jonathan in those early days in 2010 following the death of President Umaru Yar’Adua, I teased my acquaintance that he had become part of an inner circle preparing Jonathan to stand election in 2011. He said he was sure Jonathan would run, but added that “the man vowed that even if he did – and he’ll do so very reluctantly – he will not stand again for election if the power situation in the country did not improve.” On that, he said, the man was categorical.

On September 28, 2010, when Jonathan formally declared his intention to stand election, his second promise from a long list was: “We will fight for all Nigerians to have access to power.”

It’s been five years since. You must ask yourself today if Jonathan has kept his word. I’m not talking about a privatisation framework that completely ignored the gas master plan and shared public assets largely among cronies, with little regard for due diligence.

I’m not talking about the fraudulent commissioning and re-commissioning of power plants that had been commissioned by former President Olusegun Obasanjo years ago. I’m not talking about lies in newspaper adverts that power generation has reached 5,500MW when, in fact, it is less than 3,700MW as you read this piece. I’m not talking about TAN adverts, which some estimate to have cost over N5billion in dodgy funds.

Nor am I talking about a recent memo by Vice President Namadi Sambo to Jonathan asking for at least N42billion to buy meters for consumers, only for the money to be diverted and shared for PDP campaign.

I’m just saying you should ask yourself a straightforward question: after five years and billions of naira, do you have more electricity in your home today than you had in 2010?

In that same speech by Jonathan, which is available online at http://www.vanguardngr.com/2010/09/100003/), he said, “We will fight corruption.”

In words and in deed, no government has embraced and fed on corruption as generously as has Jonathan’s government. Sometimes, I think he does it without meaning harm. He just does not know how to run a government differently.

That’s why even though the Nuhu Ribadu committee found that N2trillion had been stolen in the subsidy scam, Jonathan ended up using the report to prop his armchair. That’s why, twice in public interviews, he has made a distinction between stealing and corruption. That’s why even though serving ministers in his government collected N120billion in backdoor payments for Malabu Oil, he has not lifted a finger. And that’s why his government cannot account for N150billion stolen by thieving pension officials who still enjoy presidential protection.

The theft list is formidable and pervasive, but I promise you that not a single one in this column is false or mentioned maliciously. I have, in fact, left out the famous $20billion flagged by Sanusi Lamido Sanusi. That figure will get worse if you tear yourself off Diezani Alison-Madueke’s skirt for a moment and ask what the government has done with $81.3billion received from the sale of 445,000bpd of crude oil allocated to NNPC for almost five years when the price was not less than $100 per barrel.

Part of the waste trail has been out there for everyone to see in the last six weeks – in the vile political campaigns and bribes in place of honest effort that should have been invested to govern in the past five years.

In 2011, under this same Jonathan who promised to “fight corruption,” 450MHz, a premium spectrum valued at $50million, was sold to an incompetent licensee for $6million and a waiver of N1billion granted by ministers Omobola Johnson and Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala in a transaction in which the NCC boss had a vested interest. The first leg of the 800MHz was sold for 13million euros in Nigeria – an asset which Germany sold for 1.53billion euros around the same time.

If Jonathan was really interested in fighting corruption, he would have had the back of Bashir Gwandu, who not only opposed the NCC bazaar, but blew the whistle on the fraud. But Gwandu was shafted and removed, only for a competent court to overturn his illegal and unjustified removal.

And Jonathan wants to come back? This is the moment of truth. In his own words, he promised to “fight to create jobs for all Nigerians.” In his recent campaign promises, he has even promised to create two million jobs every year!

Since we can only judge him by his record, figures from the NBS show that his best has been 2.2million jobs in three years. If you believe that a man who could not create more than roughly 730,000 jobs a year will create two million yearly at a time when civil servants are going without salaries because the government is broke, that’s fine. But you cannot claim tomorrow that his promise was counterfeit.

I’ve read about the dubious promises of thousands of kilometres of roads and the claims of better education, healthcare and fast trains. These promises were made five years ago and they are being repeated for our enjoyment in colourful newspaper adverts.

How can you forget that the longest teachers’ strike in years – five months and three weeks by university teachers – has been under Jonathan? As for healthcare, his own man and secretary of the Centenary committee charity ball, Kingsley Esegbue, said in October 2013 that Nigerians spend N250billion on medical tourism. So where did they spend the money on healthcare? And the fast trains? It’s a lie that has no second part.

Security has been a nightmare, with extraordinary incompetence that led to the kidnap of the 279 Chibok girls and the killing of over 12,000 persons including the brutal murder of young school children, before this government outsourced security, its basic function, to mercenaries and neighbouring countries.

If Nigeria were a company, the shareholders would have fired Jonathan long ago. But if after nearly five years of incredible incompetence and failed promises you sincerely believe that you must vote him as reward for his poor performance, that’s fine.

The die is cast. They are out there as you read this piece, sharing bribes amassed from NNPC and deploying force where their bribes cannot reach. I know we have an incredible capacity to quibble and move on, but let this be clear: we cannot escape the consequences of the choice we make tomorrow for another four years.

One thousand one hundred words are enough….

PapaBrowne:

Are you serious Your speech just gave you off as someone who lacks complete understanding of Economics>

Illiteracy no be moi moi oh!! Ha! So if someone tells you he will equate the value to the dollar you would just swallow it hook line and sinker??
What were you doing when others were attending Economics class??

For the Naira to be equal to the dollar, you would need to see our dollar reserve rate go to something like a trillion dollars!! Even with 20 years of 20% economic growth rate, we would probably not be there!!

Now the bigger lesson for you is that a very strong Naira is not good for our country especially if you want to produce goods and export competitively..
Now let me explain that to you:
A bag of Dangote cement sells for 1500 Naira.
When the dollar was 160 Naira, that bag of cement was equal to $9.
At the new rate of 215 Naira, that same bag of cement is now equal to $7.
That means if Dangote wants to sell his cement in Albania, he has a better price point than he would have had 5 months ago.

Now imagine the Naira is exchanging at 5 Naira to a dollar.
That same bag of cement would now be equal to $300. Where on planet earth would he be able to sell his bag of cement at that price??

Any country that desires to produce and export to the rest of the globe, prays for a weaker currency to allow its goods better pricing amongst competitors. If Buhari understands economics, he will never pray for a very strong Naira except of course he wants us to keep importing everything!!

@Poster...are you saying Naira must necessarily be weak? Even if you are a small boy,I'm sure you read that at a time naira and dollar has equal strenght! Go to Ghana and see what has happened to their currency. Look, where there is a will, there is a way.Its just that our corrupt leaders are afraid. They are afraid that their 1million dollar may soon become 1million Naira!!!

Politics / Terrible Plan To Render Card Readers Ineffective On Election Day? by expressglory: 6:45pm On Mar 16, 2015
The All Progressives Congress has said it has uncovered a plot by the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan and the Peoples Democratic Party to render card readers ineffective on election day.

It says this move is to justifying their (Jonathan and PDP) fears about the use of the card readers and ultimately to scuttle the polls.

This allegation was contained in a statement in Lagos on Monday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.

APC said, ”We can authoritatively inform Nigerians that the morbid fear of card readers by the Jonathan Administration and the PDP has now been translated into concrete action. They have hired an Israeli, Gyora Berger, to do the dirty job of jamming the card readers.

”To those who might accuse us of crying wolf, they should realise that every alarm we have raised in the past has been true, including that the Jonathan administration was pushing for the postponement of the elections and that they are mortally afraid of the use of PVCs and card readers”

The party added that the Israeli was hired specifically to develop three prototype card reader jammers, which he had accomplished, developing three of such jammers (25 metres, 50 metres and 100 metres range) to be carried in the
pockets of trusted PDP stalwarts on election day with a view to disabling the card readers within the state radius.

The party said apart from disabling the card readers, the jammers would also disable all telephones, iPads, etc within the states radius of those carrying them on their persons.

It equally alleged that an order had been placed for 75,000 pieces of the jammers at a cost of $200 per piece, bringing the total cost to $15m.

APC claimed the jammers would be air freighted to Nigeria next week.

It added, ”The plan is to deploy the card jammers to the areas deemed to be the strongholds of the APC, such as the North-west, North-East, North-Central and the South-West.

”It is the planned procurement of the jammers that has given the confidence to the administration and party officials to continuously boast that Buhari will never rule Nigeria, and also the reason why a chief of the PDP boasted last week that the card readers won’t work, thus advising INEC to make alternative arrangements.”

The party said the Israeli, who had agreed to do the dirty job for “a desperate Jonathan administration and the PDP, is an enemy of Nigeria and Nigerians, who does not mind if the nation burns, as long as he has collected his pay for the dirty job for which he has been hired.”

Politics / Muslim Group Attacks Gov. Fayose Over Malicious Newspaper Adverts by expressglory: 5:56am On Feb 17, 2015
Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State is swimming in fresh troubled political waters barely one month after receiving mass condemnation from Nigerians for his death-wish advertorial against retired Major General Muhammadu Buhari, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This time around, Fayose has been indicted by the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (SCIAN) for allegedly sponsoring malicious media advertisement, using Islamic pseudo names ‘The Southern Nigeria Al-Hikmah Generation’, targeted at painting General Buhari as wanting to operate Sharia in the country, if elected President at the forthcoming polls.

SCIAN, speaking through a member of its General Purpose Committee, Alhaji Kunle Sanni, told journalists in Ibadan yesterday that the Council had uncovered plots by Fayose “to create tension within the Muslim Ummah or divide us politically” with the purported advertisement which appeared in some national dailies recently under the pseudo name ‘The Southern Nigeria Al-Hikmah Generation’.

While condemning the advertisement in its totality, SCIAN disclosed that its “investigation has revealed that Governor Fayose is the one using some people to perpetrate this ignoble act with the aim of creating tension among the muslim community.”

“We condemn it in all its totality,” Kunle Sanni stated.

He declared: “Our Council noted with concern the contents of a media advertisement carried by an organization which called itself ‘The Southern Nigeria Al-Hikmah Generation’ commending Buhari for wanting to operate Sharia. From all our records, there is no organization with that name and we have done our research, we looked at the address inscribed on that advert, but our investigation revealed that that address does not exist.

“We see it as an avenue to create tension within the Muslim Ummah or divide us politically. We are no politicians. We don’t belong to any political group. But our members belong to several political groups. And we don’t want them to create confusion within the Muslim Ummah. So, we see this advert as the handiwork of some very desperate politicians who want to blackmail the presidential candidate of the APC, using the Islamic card. And we don’t see think this election has to do with religion. It has to do with the issues of integrity, discipline and those who are prepared to reshape the economy of Nigeria so that the country can be a better place for all of us.

Politics / Ekiti Election Rigging Tape:Fayose Finally Confessed by expressglory: 5:45am On Feb 17, 2015
Ekiti state governor, Ayodele Fayose has finally confessed to partaking in the secret meeting where politicians led by former minister of state for defense, Musiliu Obanikoro met with army officer led by a Brigadier General plotted how to rig last August's gubernatorial election for Mr. Fayose.

Mr. Fayose was speaking at an event in Ekiti where he inadvertently referred to the tape and then he quickly tried to change his story by claiming that he was only chastising the army general for being compromised in the presense of his collegaues. Mr. Fayose's confession contrasts his earlier stance that the tape was manufactured with the aid of a voice software.

The minister of Police Affairs, Jelili Adesiyan had earlier confessed to being at the meeting, however, President Goodluck Jonathan told reporters from the Wallstreet Journal during a recent interview that the tape was not "real" stating that the incident will not be probed.
Here is the confession:
