Politics / How Jonathan & Justice Adoke Stole $3b CrudeOil,Few Days Before Leaving Office by expressglory: 11:49pm On Sep 04, 2015
A few days before the end of his tenure, former President Goodluck Jonathan and the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Mohammed Bello Adoke, connived to award more than $3 billion in crude oil to a Chinese oil company linked to a controversial businessman, Emeka Offor.

The highly questionable deal was consummated through a judgment handed down by a High Court judge who was also in on the deal, according to a source close to the deal.

In December 2014, Addax Petroleum Development (Nigeria) Limited and Addax Petroleum Exploration (Nigeria) Limited, sued the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) seeking a huge financial award in what the company described as miscalculation of oil royalty and taxes, and breach of their 1998 “production sharing” contract with the NNPC in respect of certain oil fields.

The contract covered oil-prospecting licenses (OPL) 98/118 (now Oil Mining Leases 123, 124, 136 and 137).

In an extensive interview with our correspondent, the source claimed that Addax’s lawsuit was at the urging of Mr. Adoke, who should have been protecting the Nigerian public’s interest.

In a letter dated April 2, 2015, Mr. Adoke proposed that President Jonathan approve an out-of-court settlement of the lawsuit, tagged FJC/ABJ/CS/1099/2014 and filed on December 23, 2014. In the letter to President Jonathan, the then Attorney General and Minister of Justice also indicated that he was attaching a letter dated the same day from the legal department of the NNPC.

Mr. Adoke’s letter was fast-tracked in a manner that two legal authorities separately described as “highly unusual” and “unseemly.” On May 25, a mere four days before the end of President Jonathan’s tenure, a Federal High Court judge in Abuja had concluded the terms of the out-of-court settlement. The judge’s “judgment order” excluded the office of the AGF because Mr. Adoke did not send any lawyers to represent the government at the final judgment.

“It’s highly curious that the ‘judgment order” did not list the AGF’s office as a defendant in the lawsuit. Yet, the AGF [Adoke] was the person generating a legal memo to the president [Jonathan] for an out-of-court settlement,” said an Abuja-based lawyer after reviewing the case.

Nonetheless, the judge read out the terms of the agreement and gave an order sealing it, but his judgment order did not include the hidden cost of the judgment.

This act of judicial concealment has baffled the lawyers who looked at the document. SaharaReporters obtained a copy of the hidden terms of agreement that puts the total value of NNPC’s indebtedness to Addax at more than $3 billion—specifically, a whopping $3,491,588,729.64. The judgment debt would be paid to Addax via crude oil lifting that could last for numerous years, an NNPC source disclosed.

Addax Petroleum has claimed that a letter signed by Funsho Kupolokun, who was adviser to former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Petroleum, gave the company the right to a production-sharing contract relating to the oil fields named in their original lawsuit.

Addax also claimed that, because of that letter from the presidential adviser, his company spent about $3 billion on the development of the oil fields.

One of the lawyers who reviewed the case for SaharaReporters wondered why it took Addax no earlier than 2014 before they sued the Federal Government for the alleged breach of contract.

Contacted by SaharaReporters to disclose Mr. Offor’s full involvement in the judgement scam, his representatives expressed preference for communication by email.

Hours after we complied, Edwin Ndukwe of the Communications Department of Offor’s Chrome Group sent a response in which he denied that Mr. Offor was the 'outlet' through which Addax facilitated the settlement.

“Sir Emeka had absolutely no hand or control in the proceedings of the court, which led to the outcome you inferred,” he said. “He is not a shareholder and he did not enter into any agreement to influence or sponsor the outcome of the court's decision. Addax Petroleum is gigantic enough to weigh in by itself on any judicial matters bothering on their business conduct in Nigeria.”

He asserted that the Addax/Kaztec business to business relationship began in 2010 when Kaztec was awarded the TB 1921 contract for the installation of subsea pipeline and topsides in OML 123.

“Since then, the relationship grew between the two as evident in the project being duly completed. Kaztec is a wholly 100% owned indigenous EPIC service provider in the oil & gas industry. It has performed very well over the years and have received numerous commendations for their technical competence and their ability to deliver on projects timeously and at significantly reduced cost from not just Addax but other firms.”

We also reached out to NNPC spokesperson, Ohi Alegebe to ask how the NNPC intends to pay the debt as stipulated in the final judgement. He said he needed to reach the Legal Department of the NNPC to find out the details, but did not get back to us at the time of publishing this story.

For their part, Addax offices in Abuja told our reporters that all of the company communication personnel were tied up in a training which involved the Managing Director, Mr. Cor Zegelaar, and cannot respond to our inquiries until next week.

In a recent interview with Premium Times, former President Obasanjo openly accused Mr. Offor of scamming Nigeria out of billions of dollars in the so-called turn-around maintenance of refineries, calling him an ‘amateur’ who knew nothing about maintaining a refinery. He stated that Mr. Offor had infiltrated the police and anti-corruption agencies and NNPC officials to facilitate his scams.

“[We met] refineries that were not working, refineries that were given to an amateur for repairs, for maintenance, what they call turn-around maintenance, to the company of Emeka Offor – Chrome Group,” he said of his government. “Where has Emeka Offor maintained refineries before? Where has he? That’s what we met. So the refineries were not working.”

Reminded by his interviewers that despite that discovery he did not recover any money from Mr. Offor, the former President replied: “What can you recover? A man ‎who was paid upfront? He had people. He got some police…people were there. And like they have said to you now, look, if it works for a week, that’s all you get. And Emeka Offor, after I left he became friends with every government that has come. Now he’s not only into refinery and oil and all that, he’s now also in energy!”

Health / Many Reasons Why You Should Run Away From Sugar If You Want To Live Long by expressglory: 4:25pm On Aug 06, 2015
Sugar is a dangerous poison. Yet it is consumed by almost everyone, on a daily basis, and it does horrible things within the body. It is also something God never intended our physical bodies to have to contend with. The only sugars God designed our physical bodies to ever have to deal with were the natural sugars found in the LIVING, raw fruits and vegetables that He created and placed in the Garden!

Are you aware that a hundred years ago, the average annual intake of refined sugar was approximately 5 pounds per person per year? Today, the average annual intake of refined sugar is around 170 pounds per person per year. That means that if a person is consuming that:, he or she is placing over 50 teaspoons of refined sugar into their physical bodies each and every day of their life.

Thus, a person who lives to the age of 70 will have placed into their body, during their lifetime, some 12,000 pounds of refined sugar.
Let's take a look at what all that sugar is doing within our beautiful, God designed, physical bodies

(1) Refined Sugar Is A Dead Food
Sugar originated in a living plant, which contained its complete complement of enzymes, but, by the time it reaches the refined sugar stage, all LIFE has been destroyed, and it has become a DEAD food. Let's look for a moment at what processors do with the original sugar cane or beet as they turn the living sugars found in the plant, into a refined, DEAD, product.

The following information was taken from a newsletter written by Charlotte Gerson:
"Sugar is a basic element in starchy food; however, processed sugar is a completely different matter. The sugar we purchase in the supermarket for personal consumption is processed sugar. This kind of sugar is heated up in chalk-milk, so that calcium and protein are extracted.

After the process, it becomes alkaloid, destroying all vitamin content.
In the second phase, the sugar is mixed with acid chalk, carbonic gas, sulfur dioxide, and finally with Natrium® sodium bicarbonate. The mixture is cooked and cooled off several times and thereafter crystallized and centrifuged. The dead mass is then treated with strontium hydroxide. Subsequently it arrives at the refinery where it is passed over chalk carbon acid to clean it. Dark coloring is removed by adding sulfuric acid and then it is filtered with bone charcoal. Finally, it is colored with Indathrenblue or the highly toxic Ultramarine. This product's chemical composition is C12H22O11, which you can buy in shops as 'pure cane' sugar."

(2) Refined Sugar Contains No Fiber
Another important thing to understand about refined sugar is that, just like we saw with foods of animal origin, sugar is devoid of all fiber. Let's remember here that God designed our bodies to move food through a very extensive digestive tract through means of fiber, and foods containing no fiber create problems.

(3) Refined Sugar Is Fragmented

Through heating and mechanical and chemical processing, all vitamins, proteins, fats, enzymes – indeed, every single nutrient is removed until nothing but pure white sugar, pure 'naked calories,' pure refined carbohydrate remains. Sixty-four food elements are destroyed in the processing. Fragmented foods set up nutritional imbalances that precipitate health problems galore.

(4) Refined Sugar Is Highly Acidic
Like animal source foods, refined sugar is also 'acid forming.' This means that the body must take vital alkaline minerals, calcium being the most plentiful, from the body's cells to metabolize refined sugar. This high sugar use, along with the consumption of animal products, causes the body to take so much calcium from our bones and teeth that the bones become osteoporotic and the teeth decay.

(5) Refined Sugar Creates Blood Sugar Disorders
One pound of apples contains 263 calories, whereas, one pound of candy has 1800 calories. Refined sugar in junk foods is concentrated far beyond what the human body was designed by God to ever have to process at one time. Thus, somehow the body has to deal with this incredibly large amount of sugar if it is going to survive. The body does deal with it, but in doing so, it often results in physical problems called DIABETES and HYPOGLYCEMIA.

DIABETES -The primary cause of diabetes is the fat contained in animal products, but also, when a diabetic consumes refined sugar, the pancreas has difficulty producing adequate insulin when the blood sugar rises. Concentrated amounts of sugar cause a rapid rise in blood sugar. Chronic intake of sugar eventually exhausts the pancreas as it tries to compensate. Thus, the diabetic is condemned to having to take ever-increasing amounts of insulin to compensate. Diabetes is the 'Number Three Killer Disease," in America, preceded only by cardiovascular related diseases and cancer.

HYPOGLYCEMIA - is the flip side of diabetes. Hypoglycemia occurs when the body still has a fairly strong pancreas. The body overreacts to a concentrated sugar intake and releases too much insulin from the pancreas. Blood sugar levels then plummet far below the normal, stable level. The suffering Hypoglycemic often experiences fatigue, headaches, mental depression, and irritability. Hypoglycemics often deal with symptoms by taking in more refined sugar, catching them in an endless cycle that causes the pancreas to wear out from the constant over stimulation. This often results in Diabetes because now the sufferer cannot produce sufficient insulin for normal metabolic activities.

(6) Refined Sugar Promotes Emotional Instability
After a "sugarholic" has consumed a box of candy or bag of cookies or any large amount of refined sugar, they know how self-abused and depressed they feel. Sadly, studies reveal a strong link between juvenile and adult criminal offenses and sugar addiction. Similar research reveals a link between mental illness and sugar abuse. And hypoglycemic reactions, for the very sensitive consumer, promote extreme irrationality, emotional instability, and oftentimes aggressiveness. Recent studies are revealing that sugar may be as involved in mental illness, divorce, and crime as alcohol has been found to be. Depression is also one of the most rapidly growing problems in our society today, and refined sugar is one of the major contributing factors! ADD and ADHD are running rampant among our children and even some adults! It is a problem doctors are trying to treat with drugs such as Ritalin. Isn't it a sad commentary, that these emotional problems, that were caused by the very toxic and poisonous addictive drug, refined sugar, are then treated with another poison, a doctor prescribed drug! How sad! You mothers who are having a problem with your child's behavior might consider removing all sugar from his or her diet.

(7) Refined Sugar Contributes To Heart Disease

Fat is not the only contributing factor in heart disease. Large amounts of refined sugar cause the insulin in the body to convert blood glucose (sugar) into fatty acids and triglycerides. Those on a high-sugar diet show significantly higher levels of fat in their blood than those who eat no refined sugar. This high fat content in the blood is directly related to the development of plaque build-up within the arteries and ultimately to hardening of the arteries.

Apart from this Magnesium is a necessary ingredient that helps our cardiac functioning.Meanwhile sugar deplete your body of magnesium. In fact for ever molecule if Sugar it takes Fifty Four Molecules of Magnesium to process it!

(cool Refined Sugar Leads To Addiction And Weight Gain
......

The Following is just a partial list of other health problems related to the intake of refined sugar: acne, addiction to drugs and caffeine, alcoholism, allergies, anxiety, behavior problems, binge eating, bloating, bone loss, Candidiasis, depression, difficulty concentrating, eczema, edema, emotional problems, fatigue, food cravings, hormonal problems, hyperactivity, insomnia, menstrual difficulties, mental illness, mood swings, premature aging, psoriasis, ..

To summarize, refined sugar, and products made with refined sugar, are the second most prevalent cause, or contributing cause, of the physical problems being experienced today. Refined sugar products are all DEAD and FIBERLESS and, are the second most popular of the KILLER foods of our day after animal source foods.
Do you want to stay healthy and live long then quit refined sugar! Good luck!

Politics / Hilarious:busty Woman JAILED For Assaulting Cop With BREAST!(PHOTOS) by expressglory: 6:15am On Aug 05, 2015
Ng Lai-ying was convicted for using her breast to push against the officer at a chaotic protest in March.
The 30-year-old had earlier accused the cop of groping her – yelling the phrase "indecent assault" when she felt his arm on her chest.
But magistrate Michael Chan claimed she tried to use her "female identity" to harm the cop's reputation.
He said: "If I do not hand down a deterring sentence, the public might mistakenly think it is a trivial matter to assault police officers during protests."
A video from the protest – in Hong Kong on March 1 – shows Lai-ying being dragged away from the crows with a bleeding nose.

Maple:

@ Cirmuell your wise comment does prove that not all here live a life of self denial. How some see this as North vs South or SW issue amazes me. Fayose, the Governor and Commander-In-Agbero of Ekiti State has metamorphose to "Fayose is the man" , Fayose the "saviour" etc. Imagine, a Governor who commanded thugs to blockade the states house of Assembly, and harass and chase away his state legislators from performing their legislative duties. grin

My question is how come this is happening in Ekiti, Ekiti oo of all places, where such tribal clashes is not known to exist.

Is it a mere coincidence, that this is happening at a time when Fayose's popularity/power is at its lowest? Could this be a diversionary/distraction tactics or a part of a political game in the impeachment saga that's about to engulf him? Talk about perfect timing. grin

How can many forget so soon of Ekitigate, and how far Fayose is willing to go to stay in power? This guy fought and mudslinged GMB to the extent even FFK say Tufiakwa! , all because of his desperation to avoid the inevitable impeachment that he knows will follow should GMB's APC come to power. Well, he lost that battle already. Time would tell what more cards he is willing to play in order to escape the Inevitable. One of Fayose's associates once said, Fayose is someone that can sacrifice his own mother for his political ambition.

Hmmmmn

The clash between the Hausas and the Yorubas in Ado-Ekiti is getting tougher.Over the night(Thurs/Fri),despite the 6pm to 6am curfew, the hausas invaded the Oja Oba market,in what looks like a reprisal attack, to set some shops on fire.Fayose in a brisk reaction has announced that the Hausa community be relocated to Shasha on the outskirt of the town within 24hrs.As at this afternoon, some Government bus were seen parked in Atikankan area to park the Hausas and enforce the govt. directives.Meanwhile some Hausas were sighted in Ifaki -ekiti travelling out of town probably out of fear.

Business / Unbelievable:apple Buys Nigerian Born Chinedu Echeruo's Website For $1 Billion by expressglory: 7:54pm On May 21, 2015
Apple has acquired Chinedu Echeruo’s HopStop.com, The Wall Street Journal’s publication, AllThingsDigital reports. Founded in 2005, HopStop.com makes mobile applications for both iOS and Android that covers over 300 cities and that helps people get directions or find nearby subway stations and bus stops. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed as at the time of this publication.

Chinedu Echeruo, formerly an analyst at investment banks and hedge funds founded HopStop in 2005. Echeruo is now Chairman of the Board for HopStop.

HopStop has oft been compared to Israel’s Waze which was recently acquired by Google for $1 billion. The move is seen as Apple’s plan to bolster its map offering especially given Google’s recent acquisition of Waze.

A serial entrepreneur, Chinedu Echeruo grew up in Eastern Nigeria and attended Kings College, Lagos. He attended Syracuse University and the Harvard Business School in the United States and founded HopStop.com after working for several years in the Mergers & Acquisitions and Leveraged Finance groups of J.P Morgan Chase where he was involved in a broad range of M&A, Financing and Private Equity transactions.
He also worked at AM Investment Partners, a $500 million volatility-driven convertible bond arbitrage hedge fund.

He founded and raised nearly $8 million for his two U.S based internet companies; Hopstop.com andTripology.com. Tripology.com was acquired in 2010 by American travel and navigation information company, Rand McNally. He was named Black Enterprise Magazine’s Small Business Innovator of the year and listed in the magazine’s Top 40 under 40 and is currently a partner and head of the Principal Investing group at Constant Capital, a West Africa based investment bank.

True to form, Echeruo is working on yet another venture but this time, focused on small businesses in Africa. Check out a video of Chinedu Echeruo below at last year’s TedxIkoyi where he talks about his latest project for small businesses in Africa; “crowd sourced business in a box.”

According to him:
“There is no reason why every entrepreneur should have to reinvent the wheel every single time in all the countries in Africa. My idea is to essentially to have one place where a budding entrepreneur can access a template for starting a business, and then customize it to suit their own situation. Essentially a business-in-a-box.”

Politics / EKITI AGAIN: Following Hausa/yoruba Fracas,fayose Impose 6pm-6am Curfew by expressglory: 6:51pm On May 21, 2015
Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has declared a dusk-to-dawn curfew in Ado Ekiti to prevent the raging fight between transport workers and Hausa traders from spreading to other parts of the state.
The governor, while addressing the Hausa Community in the Atikankan area of Ado Ekiti, said the curfew, starting from 6pm and ending at 6am, would begin today, Thursday, directing security agencies to arrest whoever failed to comply with the order.
The governor, who appealed to the Hausa community to be patient, promised that they would get justice.
He said, “You said you love me, this is the time you have to show this love. I want to plead with you to submit whatever lethal weapon you have in your possession to the police. And if you refuse to do this, whether you are Yoruba or Hausa, the police will arrest you.
“Nigeria belongs to all of us and for the sake of our country, I plead with you to allow peace to reign.”
The state Secretary of National Union of Road Transport Workers, Mr. Akinsola Osundiya, at a briefing with journalists in Ado Ekiti, distanced members of the union from the crisis.
“Our members do not load vehicles in that area, so we were not in anyway involved in the clash with the Hausa traders,” he said.
The Chairman of Hausa Community in Ekiti State, Alhaji Adamu Imam, appealed to the state government for monetary assistance for those whose property were damaged by hoodlums during the crisis.
Imam said the names of the perpetrators of the violent attack had been compiled and would be made available to the governor and security agencies for necessary actions.
However, the Ekiti State Police Command said the number of injured had risen to 24 in the violent clash between Hausa traders and some drivers in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Alberto Adeyemi, on behalf of the Police Commissioner, Mr Etop James, said two of those injured sustained gunshot wounds and were receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
“Nobody died in the incident contrary to reports. Only two persons sustained pellet wounds while 22 others sustained varying degrees of injuries,” he added.
