Christianity Etc › Re: 7 Causes Of Depression And How To Overcome by extol1(m): 10:40am On Mar 21, 2021
jesusjnr2020:
5. Lack of true peace

There's a peace which is not that of this world but of the kingdom of God. This was the peace that Jesus gave to His disciples.

John 14:27 (KJV)

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

This is the reason why regardless of the gravity of persecutions, tribulations and trials His disciples went through, they were never depressed. Because that peace was not subject to the things of this world which were temporal, but the things of the Kingdom of God which are eternal. So the peace which they had was permanent regardless of whatever situation they faced. It's the lack of this peace that makes people to be depressed because this is the true peace that they need in their lives.

6. Unforgiveness

When people who do not forgive and let go of wrong that others did to them, they have the tendency to be depressed, because the resentment they feel towards those ones is a depressing feeling. So unless they're able to forgive and let go of their grudges against the person which caused the resentment they feel, the resulting depression would not leave them.

Mark 11:25-26 (KJV)

And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

7. Disobedience

When one keeps God's Word, there's a peace and rest of mind that the person has. But when the person doesn't but sins and falls into temptation, it makes the person to lose that peace which often leads to depression. So for the lost peace to be restored and resulting depression to leave, the obedience of God's Word which brought about the peace has to be restore back in the person's life.

"Blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it." {Luke 11:28 (KJV)}

How To Overcome Depression

These are in addition to those I've already shared.

1. Pray

Prayer helped me when I first suffered depression. It wasn't easy at first but when I got deep into it, at some point I began to realize that the depression was no longer there. I couldn't feel it anymore, so those who feel depressed should also try and pray their way out of it. And the prayer should be sincere and in obedience to God's Word, otherwise it may not yield any significant result. Matthew 26:41.

2. Fast

It could also be helpful when added to your prayers, especially when the depression was deeper and needed more drastic measures, like that which involves a demon. Matthew 9:29.

3. Humble yourself and become like a little child

Little children hardly get depressed because they don't have most if not all of the issues that cause depression, like worries, discontentment, too much respect for men's opinions, sin, unforgiveness or resentment etc. And this is because most of those issues are hinged on pride and little children don't have that problem because they are humble. Hence Jesus used little children as examples for His disciples to follow, and the reason the disciples didn't have issues of depression could be because they had humbled themselves and become as little children as Jesus had instructed them to do. So little children are good examples for anyone who wants to overcome depression to follow. Matthew 18:3-4.

God bless.

I think that is ignorance. in as much I believe in tithing, it will be total display of lack of knowledge and understanding to pay tithe despite in serious debts. it is just like borrowing money to start up a business, it is when u finished paying back the borrowed money that u can confidently say u owe the business

It is said that in the beginning when everything was created, it was good. How did something so good turn out bad?

Question is does God share the earth with us? Does he have a street name or a building here on earth? The earth was made for all living creatures. The specific instruction was fill the earth and multiply.

We were brought here to conquer the earth but what we did was up to us. It was our responsibility to conquer not to be conquered. The blame remains on us.
I have been enjoying yourself responses in this section, but is that the reason why we have the poor and the rich

Christianity Etc › Re: Can Someone Explain Why We Are Suffering Because Of Adam And Eve's Misconduct by extol1(m): 10:09am On Mar 21, 2021
Ihedinobi3:
Hi there.

Since your question appears to be quoting Genesis 3, I assume that you are interrogating the Christian worldview. That is what I'll be answering from.

To answer you then, God punished Adam and Eve specifically. Of course, that punishment was to apply to everyone else who sinned just like them, but it was primarily them that He punished. That is to say that God does not punish you just because Adam and Eve sinned. That would be unfair and contrary to the Bible.

20 The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself.
Ezekiel 18:20 (NKJV)

God does not punish people for other people's sins. It is true that there is such a thing as cursing by association. That is, God can curse something or someone because of its association or connection to someone who has sinned against Him, but that never violates this principle. To demonstrate, God cursed the earth because Adam who sinned against him derived his nourishment and enjoyment from it. But we also see that even though God cursed Sodom and Gomorrah with destruction by fire falling from the sky, Lot was saved from the same fate that the rest of Sodom and Gomorrah succumbed to.

We suffer like Adam and Eve did because all of us sin. We always sin from beginning from birth. Therefore, we come in for the same punishment that they did and more besides as our own sins increase.
I was trying to get you until I hit the word cursed by association. can u please shed more light on that words

I mean just like you agree that the old testament is now outdated and we can't possibly live by that standard in this our modern world, don't u think the new testament is now outdated too and can't accommodate the realities of today's world. I'm just asking tho I'm not saying with authority
to the best of my knowledge, both the old testament and new testament are never outdated, reason been that it is common and still used in our contemporary societies. it can only be outdated if there is an updated edition. most of these things happening in our world today's is a repetition of what happened in the Bible.

festacman:
Globally, every Head of State and Commander-in-Chief reserves the right to appoint service chiefs that are loyal to him for the preservation of the government of the day and defence of national sovereignty.

Pres. Buhari may have disregarded federal character principle in his own appointment but having an independent body appoint service chiefs is fraught with danger of political instability.

Yes, Buhari has displayed irresponsible nepotism but by this bill, Senator Abaribe displayed dangerously pregnant mischief that looks like a well-orchestrated agenda.
in as much I don't agree with this bill, it was as a result of his obvious nepotism that brought this bill
