Odikwa serious grin grin. But, looking as far back as those days, how did all these practices come into play, how was it started, who pronounced such on generations upon generations? Just wondering. Did you know wherever the couple might be on the face of the earth, they need to go back to Village to appease their Gods.

grin grin my brother, very serious oh. It has always been in existence oh and I remember that an old man told me something 5yrs ago about how the king's wife died as a result of his cheating wife and I guess it's also part of how this thing was originated. Once the victim dies, there's no point appeasing any gods because it ends there.

What baffles me in such traditional practise is,husbands are free to cheat while wives are not allowed tko. I think the equation should be balanced, nobody should cheat, who ever cheats should face the consequence alone.

Yes sir. I asked a lot of Elders about this and their excuse is that men are polygamous in nature and it shouldn't affect them. I have never heard it anywhere that if the men should cheat on their wives, that this traditional repercussion would come into play but it has always been the women but will only affect the man if he knows about this but still continue to live with her like husband and wife. It's only God that can deal with a cheating husband naturally but not through this medium.
Family / Re: Oath Taking And Thunderbolt, Is It Justified? by Eyop: 10:43am On Jul 29, 2015
softysparky:

That's wickedness man!

I understand sha but that's the tradition and there's nothing anyone can do to change that. Me i won't cheat when married and if the woman in question does not cheat, then we won't have a problem. So many men have died like chickens because of this because the painful part is in the case of the man knowing and she continues to eat her food,he will be the one to die and the woman might escape it.

Some even affect the children too i.e they will start falling sick until the issue is resolved traditionally.

Honestly to me I don't see it as a big deal as long as it's not selective and affects directly the person that cheated. I think we need stuffs like this to cage our wandering prick married men, they are too much these days.

well like i said, if the man should cheat,it DOES NOT affect him but if it's the wife and the husband is aware & continues to eat her food/sleep with her, that's how it affects the husband. The problem here is the woman and not the man ooh smiley

Yes you are right. It's practise in Kogi State till date and it happened to a family I know. They didn't go back to village ontime to appease to their GODs. Unfortunately both the husband and wife died on their way to village.
There are exceptions though, especially when no dowry was paid on the bride. I couldn't believe such still happens sha

It is even practiced in some areas of my state, some part of south east and I believe many other states in Nigeria. Any wayward lady won't be comfortable marrying from those region because they are not sure of themselves. It's their tradition and if they aren't comfortable with it,they shouldn't go in. It's more dangerous than magun because from the 1st day of marrying into that family, this tradition is activated.
Family / Re: Oath Taking And Thunderbolt, Is It Justified? by Eyop: 8:39am On Jul 29, 2015
softysparky:

Why shall I feargrin

Well, there are some areas that have this stuff. If the woman should cheat, she will die except she confesses. Another is if she cheats and the husband knows about this and continues to eat her food/sleep with her,the husband will also die.

Respectable Mercedes gurus, Please i have an issue with my c200 kompressor (2002) model. The car engine doesnt rev anymore, when i start the engine, the pedal goes soft, down & flat as i trottle down. It all started when i drove past a pool of water, i do remember that it plashed water as i went past it even though i drove with caution at that point. The next day i tried starting the engine but the battery power has gone down, I engaged an auto electrician close to my house & he advised we support the 100 amps battery with another to power the engine up, which we did & the engine started, still the car wouldnt roll an inch.....Please Auhanson, Eyop et all, i solicit your expert advise.

Have you scanned the car? If you haven't,please have it done and if you have, what was the result of the scan?

People would always have one thing or the other to say..I love it for the very fact that the amg version is the fastest 4 cylinder 4 door coupe with best economy ever produced, not even BMW m235 can stand it. For me, any thing short of amg is not acceptable for a car of her class(entry level Benz) You do not expect it to behave like the senior brothers , cls 4matic, nor s4matic neither gl4matic or GLE 4matic .."white hair get level" while your money speaks

Besides , the senior brother, CLS, na guzzler, "wey soup sweet, na money die on top" But this junior brother for the younger minds and leaner pocket, produces more horse power than most 8 cylinder car that guzzles 3 times its fuel consumption. Itsn't it amazing what magic Benz research and got out there with such star asthetic? That is , you eat your cake and have it again at the same time... Its worth celebrating

So you prefer the 2014 CLA45 AMG compared to the 2014 C350 Sports?

Nop! its 4matic , the amg 45

@babaTony

please no efik name is silly the all have meanings and efik do not name their children after rats like ibibio in ibibio ekpu is rat and udoebok is second male child of a monkey

just a very surreal culture that is why you all are running from it

and we have a very popular ibibio journalist named ekpu rat, how about udoeyop and eyop is palm fruit and udo is a second male child so in ibibio udoeyop is the second male child of a palm tree?

in efik asari and asandia are named reserved for 2 female twins just like taiwo and kehinde in yoruba if am not mistaken..

please what names do you give twins in ibibio is it ekpu and ebok?

we do not want this Efik/Ibibio nonsense, the difference is clear

cheers,
efikproper

And what point are you making? Common sense should tell you that EYOP or UDOEYOP are ancient names with very strong traditional root and not common in AKS and if am not mistaken,it should be only 3 families in the entire AKS with those names. In Akwa-Ibom,how many families these days do you hear with such names? So why the unnecessary argument or comparison between Efik and Ibibio?
