Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed while addressing journalists over the situation of missing schoolgirls in Dapchi, Yobe State. The Federal Government on Thursday said more time would be needed to assess the situation concerning the whereabouts of some schoolgirls who reportedly went missing after Boko Haram terrorists invaded a Government Girls’ College in Yobe State. The school, Government Girls Science Technical College (GGSTC) located in Dapchi, Bursari Local Government area of Yobe state was on Monday, February 19 thrown into dismay after the terrorist struck, carting away food items. The local residents of Dapchi community said the girls and their teachers fled the attack but some of the girls according to the Yobe State Government are still unaccounted for. The Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed on Thursday during a delegation visit to Yobe State said the Federal Government cannot disclose the number of girls missing as more time will be needed to assess the situation in Dapchi critically. “On the issue of the number of missing girls, we cannot give what we are not sure of, until we hear from their parents, we cannot say this is the number. Give us a few more time please,” the Minister of Information told journalists shortly after he arrived Dapchi. Mohammed is in Dapchi on the orders of the President Muhammadu Buhari. Buhari had on Wednesday directed the military and other security agencies to take control in Dapchi, Yobe State after receiving reports of the missing girls. He also ordered a delegation led by the Minister of Defence, Monsur Dan-Ali, to visit the school for an on-the-spot assessment of the situation. The Yobe State Government has retracted a statement it issued on Wednesday announcing the rescue of some of the missing schoolgirls. The government had earlier claimed that some of the girls had been rescued from terrorists by the Nigerian Army. In a fresh statement issued on Thursday, February 23 and signed by Mr Abdullahi Bego, the Director-General, Press Affairs, to the Yobe State Governor, the claim was retracted and an apology was tendered by the governor. Governor Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe State, therefore, expressed concern over the incident promising to do everything necessary in partnership with security agencies and the Federal Government to address the situation. https://www.channelstv.com/2018/02/23/missing-yobe-schoolgirls-need-time-assess-situation-fg/amp/ |

About 10 members of the Senate have staged a walk-out in protest against the adoption of the report by the Senate and House of Representatives Joint Committee on the Amendment to the Electoral Act. The protesters say despite the adoption of the report by the Senate, they would insist on its reversal. They alleged that the amendment was targeted at President Muhammadu Buhari. Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Independent National Electoral Commission, Senator Suleiman Nazif, had presented the report at the plenary on Wednesday. After the presentation, President of the Senate put the adoption of the report to voice vote, saying there was no need for debate on it as it was from a conference committee which had harmonised the versions of the two chambers. After the vote, the ‘ayes’ had it and Saraki ruled on it — a development that generated an uproar in the chamber. Saraki also ruled against three senators who raised points of order to protest against the adoption. https://punchng.com/breaking-pro-buhari-senators-walk-out-over-election-sequence-reordering-report/amp/ |

The Anglican Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Archbishop Emmanuel Chukwuma, has faulted claims by Labour and Productivity Minister, Dr. Chris Ngige, that the Federal Government has spent about N1bn on the burial of ex-Vice President Alex Ekwueme, who died November 19, 2017. The archbishop made the observation during a commendation service for the late elder statesman in Enugu on Monday. Ngige had claimed that the President Muhammadu Buhari administration has spent N1bn since taking over the former vice president’s medical bills while he was sick, and even after his death. The archbishop described the Federal Government’s claims as “unacceptable.” He said the Federal Government should explain “what, where and how” the N1bn was spent. Chukwuma noted, “Ekwueme, being a man of accountability, the Federal Government must give account on how the N1bn was spent. “We are happy that the government is giving him a befitting burial, but one thing is that people should emulate the legacies he left behind. “It is not good to say all sorts of things without emulating the legacies he left behind.” The cleric further described Ekwueme as a ‘great politician’ who will never be forgotten in Nigeria’s history. Before his death, Ekwueme worshiped in Chukwuma’s parish — the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd, Independent Layout, Enugu. http://punchng.com/archbishop-faults-fgs-claim-it-spent-n1bn-on-ekwueme-urges-accountability/amp/ |

Don't worry the government is pighting kwarruption . Bubu took six months to assemble angels and saints in his cabinet but one of the Holy ones his AG went to court to get an injunction restraining the Senate from investigating maniagate One of his saints named Dauara provided dss protection to mania and helped him escape after the kitchen heated up Somehow mania was not only reinstated but also promoted in the civil service of a country pighting kwarruption Somehow mania entered and disappeared from the country without any customs officer or airport official sighting him in a country headed by bubu body odor abi name body language And you expect me to believe buhari did not have a hand in his reinstatement promotion and eventual disappearance Ndi ara |
