PoliticsOmoyele Sowore Tear-Gassed At Ooni Of Ife's Palace For Refusing To Prostrate by Ezenwammadu(op): 10:07am On Sep 11, 2018
For Refusing To Prostrate, Sowore And TakeItBack Movement Tear-Gassed At Ooni Of Ife’s Palace

In what seemed like a coordinated attack, presidential aspirant and founder of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, and members of his #TakeItBack movement were tear-gassed while prostrating before the Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, on Monday.

As the situation deteriorated, Sowore rushed to check up on students of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), who accompanied him to the palace. He was in the process physically assaulted by thugs within the palace premises.

Palace sources, who asked not to be named, revealed that the reason for the assault was that Sowore initially refused to prostrate to the Ooni to protest the three-hour delay in attending to members of the movement who had waited for the Ooni.

As the incident unravelled, one student and another member of the royal household collapsed due to respiratory challenges arising from the toxic fumes.

Sowore, who confronted the Ooni on the assault on his person and members of his movement, wondered why a guest would be attacked within palace premises.

Responding, the Ooni swiftly condemned the attack, saying such had never happened before in a palace in Nigeria and called for calm and restraint on both sides. He regretted the ugly incident, describing it as embarrassing. He assured Sowore of his continued support and collaboration.

Expressing shock while commenting on the incident as it was being streamed live on Facebook, Adedayo Gabriel Fatoki said: “Attack?? In the Palace? By who?”

“Thank God you guys are okay. This is highly condemnable,” Precious Umoera, another member of the public, said.

The attacks were streamed live on Facebook @Omoyele Sowore.

PoliticsPresidency Should Ashamed That Security Agencies Is Working For Saraki – Misau by Ezenwammadu(op): 5:47pm On Aug 13, 2018
Chairman, Senate Committee on Navy, Senator Isa Hamma Misau, has stated that the Presidency should be ashamed that it is pushing the conspiracy script that top officials of the nation’s security apparatus are working for the Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki.

Senator Isah Hamma Misau
Reacting to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) statement that debunked the allegations credited to the Senior Special Assistant to the President (Political Affairs), Babafemi Ojudu, that the EFCC was working in tandem with Saraki, Misau said that both the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole and Ojudu, were spinning the same conspiracy theory to hide the lack of coordination and discipline amongst the security agencies.

“The EFCC’s statement confirms our immediate reaction that both Ojudu and Oshiomhole have been reading from the same conspiracy script.

“Nigerians find it unthinkable that Magu, that the Senate refused to confirm — whose EFCC has also prosecuted Saraki for over 3 years at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) would now turn around and start working for this same Saraki. How is this possible?

“These people think that they can just wake up, think up conspiracy theories and try to sell it to Nigerians, but the public is smarter and more discerning than their shallow fictitious narratives”, the Senator stated.

Misau also stated that the APC and Ojudu should be ashamed of indicting the Presidency in such an explicit fashion.

“In any case, shouldn’t they be ashamed to even claim that the entire internal security institutions in the country are working for someone else other than the person that appointed them?

“Additionally, at what point did they decipher this? Was it before the siege on the National Assembly or after?

“What this goes to show is that in their desperate bid to blame someone else for their crime and incompetence, these people no longer have a sense of shame,” the Senator said.

Misau further amplified the call for an independent judicial panel of inquiry into the National Assembly siege, stating that any other investigation would be seen as biased and flawed in the eyes of Nigerians and the international community.

“In this regard, we hereby reiterate the call for independent judicial panel of inquiry into the invasion. Any other such investigation into the matter would constitute another attempt by these same people to present a biased perspective to the assault on our nation’s democracy and its highest lawmaking body,” Misau stated.

PoliticsAkwa Ibom Governor Sacks Commissioners For Welcoming Akpabio by Ezenwammadu(op): 10:32am On Aug 08, 2018
Two commissioners in Akwa Ibom who received the former Senate minority leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio, at the airport in Uyo have been sacked by Governor Udom Emmanuel.
The sacked persons were the commissioner of Culture and Tourism, Victor Antai and Ibanga Akpabio of Labour, Productivity and Manpower Planning.

After his visit to APC leaders, including travelling to London to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari who is on a 10-day vacation, the senator landed in the Akwa Ibom International Airport, Uyo, on Tuesday and was received by Antai, Akpabio, and other top politicians.

In a statement issued on Tuesday evening by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Emmanuel Ekuwem, the government said Antai and Akpabio were sacked from the State Executive Council because of their “reluctance to comply with good governance processes of government”.

The former Akwa Ibom governor, Akpabio who resigned his position as the Senate minority leader Tuesday, was same day, accorded a heroic reception by a crowd of supporters and admirers that gathered at Akwa Ibom Airport to welcome him to the state.

He is expected to be officially received to the ruling All Progressives Congress on Wednesday.
