Politics / Re: The Rise And Fall Of Nnamdi Kanu By Shaka Momodu by Ezi39: 5:52pm On Oct 13, 2017
Howbeit I didn't read the post to the end I still have points to oppose it.
Nnamdi Kanu is a firebrand, who has got people inspired to start what is now called restructuring Nigeria. Nobody owns that credit.
He gained widespread popularity after he just started a movement that has not lasted long.
Know it also that the firebrand engaged and he is still engaging in sedition that everybody is now afraid of balkanisation of Nigeria.
Also know it that what we are experiencing now is a prolonged deitente. To suppose that Kanu has finally been silenced, is a big joke.
Don't forget that the FG pessimism convinced them that they were losing, which is why they invaded Kanu's home. This is even as he is having some days to appear in the court.
Don't write Kanu off until the prolonged deitente is over. The flaccid support of the ban of IPOB should have told you that paradoxically, Kanu is becoming more popular than before.
When sanctions is lifted outside Nigeria and it is banned in Nigeria, the odd of such ban is that in due solemnity, it will be allowed to cruise through.

Travel / Do You Agree With The Nigerian Geographers? by Ezi39: 3:00pm On Oct 12, 2017
In Nigeria, South south region occupies the most part of the Atlantic ocean, that bounded Nigeria in the south. In fact, every state in the region with the exception of Edo state, lies at the periphery of that ocean.
The South west has only two states that lies at the periphery of that ocean. That is Lagos and Ondo state.

Now, those behind our Geography say that South west has the highest rainfall in Nigeria. This is even as they also say that "the nearer to the sea the more the rain."

My question is: how true is this? I put this post under travel, so that those that have travelled to both region will tell us where it rains most in Nigeria.
South south or South West?
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Interview Mistakes That Make Nigerian Graduates Look Unqualified by Ezi39: 11:34am On Oct 11, 2017
This common interview mistakes Nigerian graduates commit might seem harmless, but they are interview killers. Job interviews are just the best place to show the employer how much of an asset you would be when employed. Even if you have all the skills, ideas and talents, committing any of the listed blunders might see you lose the position to someone else – even if the person is less qualified than you are.

I also shared how I passed my first ever interview. You can check mine Hoq I aced my first ever interview

Here are the common interview mistakes Nigerian graduates make. The aim is to find the right balance when answering the interviewer’s questions so that you don’t give out a wrong impression about yourself. Or at worst look less qualified than you are.

Dressing Non-Professional to an Interview

This is one of the common interview mistakes made by fresh graduates, due to lack of exposure. It has become almost common with Nigerian graduates. It baffles me to see a job seeker wearing a shoe, chinos trouser and a shirt at an interview.

What impression are you passing? Regardless of the position applied, you should always look like a professional. If you have seen most sportsmen during contract signing with top brands, they are always on suits. If they can do such despite their big names, what about you without any?

If there is a Tie between you – who is half dressed and another candidate who is professionally dressed, you would be eliminated on dressing points. So why risk it?

Failure to Link your ability to Company’s Profitability (Pitching your Value)

We know it is very important to share your accomplishments and abilities, but you shouldn’t end there. The hidden curiosity at the mind of every interviewer is “How can you help us improve” (Adding value)

It is not okay to say “I have a certificate in Digital Marketing” to an interviewer. This is one of the mistakes made by fresh graduates, It is making more sense to communicate the value that your certification will give the company.

You can say “I possess a certification in Digital Marketing, and the experience gained has helped me to …” site several achievements you recorded during your training period, and watch how the interviewer would smile at such brilliant answer.

Giving One-word answers to questions

No matter how simple the question to you may sound, always endeavour to elaborate. You should know that every question is an opportunity for you to wow the interviewer.

Explain
Give Instances
Tell Stories
Hype yourself.

You might not know the psychological impressions, but trust me that it works. It won’t just give you the job, it will also position you to negotiate a higher pay for yourself.

Admitting your Nerves and Fears

“Are you scared?”
“Are you nervous?”
“Have you ever at some point made terrible decisions that cost you much?”

Never ever answer positively to questions like this. You might assume that admitting to the above questions shows you out as an honest fellow – it might be so in social gatherings, but it is a bad strategy to gaining the interviewers confidence.

Remember that you are supposed to show yourself as calm-under-pressure, and a cool-headed professional, who knows good decisions to take. If you admit positive to such questions, it gives them the chance to imagine you doing such in the office. Keep calm and fake confidence.

Failure to Prepare (What do you know about the company)

“What do you know about us?”

This question is worth a million. If you ever want to increase your chances of getting hired, then you should show the interviewer that you well prepared. You should focus on the following;

Who they are
What they do
Core Values
Mission Statement
Vision Statement
Any related news/recent activities about them online or offline.
Who wouldn’t employ such a brilliant person?

By following the above instructions, believe me, that you have improved your chances of getting hired by 80%.

Other factors include;

Your Experience

Value Added Skills you are bringing to the table.

If all these are in place, then the job is yours for the taking. Till we meet again, I hope you land your dream job with these tips.

Cc: lalasticlala[/quote] Before you jump into the conclusion that some Nigerian graduates are unemployable, you need to also consider the people conducting interview.
They cannot also employ some graduates due to egotistical personality keeping them away. Why shouldn't a graduate seeking job, perform below expectation when only a scarce quantity of mark is given to him by those assessing him, who believed that no one can do it better than them.
You are an interviewer, and you are acting in rude fashion when questioning job candidates about their present salary. I don't know about others, but few things are as annoying as poking ones nose into another person's business.
Today some private school HRs even go as far as asking to know if a job candidate can help school children pass during exam. Those that don't exhibit such machievellian personality will not be landed the job.
Now after all these, this same set of people will come to tell the public that some graduates are unemployable.
Because so many employers of labour, who are not professional, are proprietors these days, we should know that they are out to employ people like them.
I am using private secondary schools as a case study. Those that are certified teachers are finding it hard to get job in these schools. The reason is not because they cannot perform, but their non certified teachers counterparts are preferred just because they pay them peanuts.
I have seen many non certified teachers that got job just because they demanded salary that was lower than the prior.
The employers of labour in the private sectors, that have been going around telling people that most Nigerian graduates are unemployable, should stop it.
It is somewhat presumptuous to assume you know about interview questions than those they are condemning. Stop describing some job candidates conducts in a pejorative way. Some of them are better than you.
We all know that job candidates in Nigeria are facing a catch 22 situation.

Romance / Re: Should A Jobless Guy Go Into A Relationship? by Ezi39: 6:01pm On Oct 06, 2017
COPIED
THIS SHOULD SERVE AS A LESSON TO THOSE WHO DESPISE BROKE GUYS.
A young girl once vowed that she would never marry a poor man. Changing men was akin to throwing out old shoes and buying a new pair.
This continued until she got the right man. The flirtation later blossomed into a permanent relationship.
Luckily to her, the young man became more popular than before that people encouraged him to test his political prowess.
The clarion call was heeded to as the man tried it and won. The lady who inveigled the young man into marrying her was very happy to be called "first lady".
Soon the Governor made an oversea incursion: in order to bring his elder brother, who was involved in illegal migration, home.
Just when the Governor was about to come back, their plane "missed".
A de facto government that saw his ex officio replacement take over government emerged.
The wife was not happy as she was stripped off her position. She did not obey the law of financial dictum and soon she was at the precipice of bankruptcy.
Her lifestyle was such that she abhorred dressing like others. She was the originator of most dresses and never put on what has been hackneyed.
This, coupled with her wacky hairstyle and excessive makeover that had in many times earned her indecent proposal, were the remote cause of her downfall.
In a strange paradox, the beauty she engaged in made her look ugly before causing her to look beautiful.
This made her to spend the entirety of many days at home. When she later saw her aesthetic remark to be fair, she started venturing out like others.
Soon the beauty faded again and she returned to her ugly self. This, coupled with her inability to pay her bills, caused her to sell her husband's house; which was yet to be willed to her.
She was the talk of the day for that singular act. She was publicly vilified by fans and foes.
Just as she used to recoil from any man whose pocket got dried, she soon surprised the populace by sharing an invitation card...inviting guests to her wedding with a Korea-based man.
No sooner that she shared the card than the new lover arrived. She released a bombastic that startled everyone on hearing that her latest lover has arrived.
In order to solicit compliment from the man, she made up herself and headed to the airport.
The Korea-based man who had not seen her before did not hide his surprise on seeing a face that did not match his 'taste.'
The young woman seeing, the perplex in the new lover's face, tried to hypnotise him but to no avail.
The Korea-based man who was angry with her look accused her of faking her beauty. The woman's look was different from the one that moved the Korea-based man in one of the social media (twitter). The man staged a walkout and the young woman, who had used all her feminine wiles to win the man, was helpless. When it dawned on her that what then happened was the finality of her marriage, she released a paroxysm of grief that sounded like that of a wounded animal. This did not fall on a sympathetic ear as the 'run away' lover did not turn back.
The young woman agonised it throughout her life as there was no more marital prospect for her.
The missing husband later returned from Europe and did not marry the gold digger again.

Sports / Share Your Experience Of "Atlanta 96" by Ezi39: 6:13pm On Oct 05, 2017
When it was about ten minutes to end the match, discontent viewers began to leave in where I watched it. Soon the the shout of goooooooal rented the air. Not knowing who scored, the discontent viewers ignored it.
Soon they discovered that it was in Nigeria's favour. The once seething compatriots became wild with exultation upon hearing the triumphant cries emanating from the mouths of those that watched it to the end. They stormed back with a sense of schadenfreude.

The goal only tied us with the Brazilians, but there was hope as the Bonfre Joe-led team has caught fire. No sooner the referee actuated the first fifteen minutes of the extra time than the Nigerian lanky forward, Kanu Nwankwo, scored the winning goal.
This was when the highest ever 'it is a goooooooal!'vwas shouted in Nigeria. Many did not know that it signalled the end of the match. The goalkeeper, Joseph Dosu, did not also know that the match was over because of golden goal rule.
In my place, it was a night that people woke to celebrate the seven-goal thriller match. First we heard firework displays, then the real jubilation ensued. A salvo salute and the extraneous noise kept people awake throughout that night.
After a moment of realisation, it dawned on those people that did not understand the meaning of golden goal that Nigeria had won the match. This was when they joined and the whole village agog that night.
It was such that the rowdy noises interfered with people's nightly slumbers. Those who did not join had no choice than to adjure themselves to stay awake, despite not planning it.
That was the night I saw what riveted Nigerians irrespective of their ethnic groups, religious affiliation, etc. as everybody joined to celebrate that victory.
As if that was not enough, another neighbouring village's fans soon joined us, and the whole place agog again. It was already at the wee hours of the day.

Education / OPINION: Why Home Schooling Should Be Embraced By Nigerians. by Ezi39: 5:36pm On Oct 04, 2017
There is no doubt that both public and private schools have failed to take Nigerian children to where they belong. Because I am concerned about our education, I am a fervid supporter of home schooling, which has been tested and trusted in the Western world.
I have watched in exasperation as those responsible for our education have neglected it over the years. The private owners have not also done better, as their predatory nature has made them to put gain first.
Now the main thrust of this piece. A home teacher will definitely use a sound pedagogy that will help these children.
When it comes to justifying the 'killer' school fees some of these private schools are collecting, there is no type of perfidy in which proprietors will not engage. Teachers are used to help those children pass. As we all know those that police the exam are not immune from bribery.
So instead of parents to continue paying big only for their children to be assisted to pass exam, they should engage the service of home teachers, who will use reciprocal teaching which is an interactive instructional practice that aims to improve students. Home teachers are always constantly looking for positive ways to goad their students into reading more.
Queen Elizabeth was home schooled. Currently, the Great Britain is being directed through a matriarchy overseen by her. She is just an example of the product of home schooling. Away from Great Britain, she is also the head of commonwealth organisation that is made up of fifty-two countries.
The earlier Nigerians embrace this the better for them. For those that are interested, drop your contact number so you will be contacted for immediate teaching of your children.
Business / I'm Also A Nigerian Like You: Between A Nairalander And A Flea Market Vendor. by Ezi39: 6:21am On Oct 04, 2017
As usual, the boy came swarming around me like a bee. When the realisation hits me that he was out for inflation, I became careful and complied with him. This I did for him not to notice my plan.
Soon we entered a shop and he asked the dealer how much he was selling the goods I wanted to buy. The moment the dealer quoted the price, the flea market vendor asked me to bargain it. I knowingly came down in order to upset the dealer. At that juncture, the flea market vendor favoured me with a sign.
We walked out only for him to persuade me to buy the goods. Knowing that he was out for inflation in order for him to collect whatever that added to the the marked price, I staged a walkout and he followed me.
At a stage, I dislodged him and went to another shop that was just very close to the one he led me to. Guess what! I bought the same goods at exactly what I bargained!
The realisation shocked me into silence when I figured out that the flea market vendor would have made a cool N1,000 from me!
This is a boy that accosted me on the pretence of helping me. He told me all kinds of stories about fake goods in that market and how some dealers are selling some fake goods. He assured me that he would help me get a better goods.
What really surprised me was how the dealer let me walked out even after bargaining to the marked price. Is this not causing 'bad market' for him? How can a dealer let his customer leave just because a flea market vendor wanted to make money. This is foolishness.

Politics / Opinion: Why Nnamdi Kanu And His Sureties Has No Case To Answer. by Ezi39: 3:09pm On Oct 02, 2017
The Nigerian Army has a fussilade of questions to answer. This is because there was no evidence to prove that Nnamdi Kanu, whose whereabouts is not known, will not have made it to court.
By invading his Umuahia home, the NA has now case to answer. Under the act of forbearance, nobody has the right to talk about or act against case in court or speculate on it, as it can be subjected to contempt of court.
Where the soldiers would have got it right was if Nnamdi Kanu refused to appear in court. This would have justified their invasion of Kanu's home, that is if the court approved it.
The NA must accept some blames for their invasion of Kanu's home. While there may be extenuating circumstances, there is no excuse for violating the sanctity of a man's home, especially if he has a date to appear in court.
Let's see how they will battle it with some firebrands, who have hijacked the case. One thing I know is that the real case now is to call on the NA to produce Kanu.

As a teacher that had taught in private school before, I prefer public school. Many private secondary schools that are paying well are forcing teachers to cheat during external exams.
If only an unobtrusive camera can be engaged, the whole world will see that there is no justification for the 'killer' school fees.
Give me a public school that is paying N80k for a start and I will dump any private secondary school paying N200K for it.
Reason being that I will not be compelled to help exam candidates cheat during external exams.

Family / Mother And Daughter Gives Birth The Same Day by Ezi39: 6:04pm On Sep 30, 2017
Fatma Birinci, 42, gave birth to her child earlier today at the same time as her daughter Gade Birinci, 21, in the Turkish city of Konya.

The pair fled their native country three years ago because of the devastating civil war and found out they were pregnant in the same week.

The two new-born boys have been named Recep and Tayyip, the first two names of the current Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, according to Turkish news outlet Ensonhaber.

Erkan Ataş, the chief physician of the hospital, visited the family in the hospital room after the successful birth.

He said: ‘This is an event that I have never heard of. They have escaped from the war into our country and have taken refuge in Turkey for three years.’

Doctor of Gynecology and Obstetrics Naim Unsal called the birth a ‘miracle.’

Unsal said the mother’s previous births were all cesareans.

I later went back for it during my final year. Then I was writing my final year project and I used the experience I have gathered to clear it. Though it was coeval as I wrote it simultaneously with one of my department courses, I still made it.

I went ahead to sit for the subject because of the experience I had while schooling in the East.

During my O'level days, I was twice a lone candidate in the hall. The subjects were History and Igbo language. That of History, no other candidate registered it, but I shared hall with others in that of Igbo language whilst separated from those writing Yoruba.
It was a nice experience and the person that policed the exam was friendly. One thing that surprised me was how I made the later. I did not read the story book aspect of it. In fact, I went to the hall with the preposterous that I would pass and it happened!
I thought about it, and concluded that the person that marked it just gave me a free mark. The last time that I learnt Igbo language in the school was almost two decades ago.
History was also cleared. Folks, have you ever sat for any exam that you were a lone candidate in the hall? Share your experience.

They are doing it to those in big cities. I was shocked that in my village, our whole bungalow is billed N400 despite supplying power to two other buildings that do not have post-paid meter.
Here in Lagos, I am living in one room, where I pay N2,500 monthly! If you compare this to what my people are paying in the village, the difference is immense. Though there is no stable light in the village, they can never try it there because those village women will vent their anger on them.
My solution to this is for Nigerians to rise and bring an end to the monopoly of discos. They are out to cause people to go bankrupt. Many are already at the precipice of bankruptcy because of their charges.
I was paying N600 before they came and increased it to N4,000 shortly before reducing it to N2,500. They did not even bill us according to our building sizes. Each building is paying N5,000 in my area. So those of us that stay in a small building of two rooms are the ones that are at the receiving end. Those who stay in large buildings are not feeling it in my area.
