No, but it increases the number of schools you can apply too. Some schools like uni seigen, uni Paderborn, Bayreuth, etc accepts English proficiency letter from your university in place of IELTS for certain courses. Although, It's best you send a mail to your schools of interest inquiring if English proficiency letter would be accepted for your desired program.
MrRomanticLover:
Please is IELTS mandatory for masters in german schools? which schools do not require IELTS?

H+/- means some courses/programs may be recognized while others may not be in that particular university or institution. Check the ababin site and filter it properly, you should get more information on the courses recognised and the ones not recognised in the institution
anotherguyonNL:
if a University is categorized as H+/- on Anabin, does this mean certificates from that university are not recognized?

HND qualifies you for only bachelor's adminision in Germany, and Germany don't do or acknowledge WES

Good evening guys.
I truly appreciate y'all.
I just finished my OND and I have applied for HND in surveying and geo-informatics.
I intend rounding up with MSc Geodesy and Geo-informatics at Leibniz University Hannover.
In admission requirements, it states degree or equivalent?
can I use HND or should I use WES?.

Why not send the course coordinator an email, the mail address can be found on the course webpage, that way you get a more reliable answer
charliesyndrom:
Hello! I got an admission for MSc Quantitative Finance at Christian Albrechts University, Kiel. As a result of the lockdown, they would be holding their lectures online till further notice. I'm currently working and also running weekend program and as a result I would not be available for online lectures, hence I would love to defer my admission till winter semester, perhaps, maybe dates would start rolling before then. Does anyone know if CAU, Kiel does accept request to defer admission to a later semester? Cos I heard that not all schools accept deferral of admission. If they do accept, does it include down payment of any sort?.

Sponsorship letter from Nigeria?
Sponsorship letter must be issued by a legal resident or registered legal entity in Germany and the Foreign Office in Germany, is the authority that decides whether the host meets the criteria to become your financial sponsor or not

Guysss, i have sponsorship letter from Nigeria. I want to start applying asap. What's my fate?

Some schools actually accepts proficiency letter for bachelor's degree, but very very few schools. As at 2019 these schools accepted proficiency letter for bsc, you could check them out;
Fulda-- international business and management
Umwelt-campus birkenfeld- sustainable business and technology
Hamm-lipstadt-- electronic engineering I think
deggendorf-- international business.. etc

I would like to apply for an undergraduate course with English as language of instruction but the universities I have checked said I have to present an IELTS. I am an undergraduate in Nigeria, can I use an English proficiency certificate from my University?

If it's via the embassy, whether you mention it or not, they know. If you know the reason for rejection and have rectified it, then you can put it in there. Personally, I don't think it has any effect if you write about it or not. If the vo has any questions about it, he/she would definitely ask you.

mrbrodaman:
Hey guys in the house, I have a quick question and I would appreciate it if you could help me out here. If an application has been denied and someone wants to file a fresh application (new university, new motivation letter, new resume etc), do I need to make reference or mention my previous application that was denied in my motivation letter or do I just file the new motivation letter without making any mention of the previously denied application?

The TestAs is to enable apply for category A, if you score 80 and above.

That's not true. Cost of education is "free" for both masters and bachelor's degree program in public Universities except for schools in Baden-Württemberg that charge as low as 1500€

KahyePubg:

Please this testas is it for applying to a university in Germany or can be used for masters

A friend of mine is advising me to start uni over again in Germany as the cost for masters is much
Besides I plan to study and relocate
Everything just tire me

With HND I doubt you would find any, do a little research on it you might find something

Category A and B booking is the new booking system the embassy adopted last year.. they placed recent graduates(2017) who graduated with 1st class and second class upper going for masters or PhD in category A(priority list) while the rest in B... Go through the embassy website, you would understand better
NEROSKY:

Thanks, i just need a shortcourse, please what's the meaning of category A & B booking I'm always seeing, please enlighten me.

HND can only get you a bachelor's degree admission which would take you like 3-4years to complete.

Their's a summary of the whole process on the first page of this thread(although a few things have changed like the process of booking appointment date). Reading previous parts would also help understand the process better
Best of luck
NEROSKY:
House please,
i have HND pub admin, looking for 1 year course on polical science, international relations or any related course,

Please what do i need to know? Ps; i can take care of the funding/block account by God's grace.

Did the school you are applying to ask you to submit a recommendation letter?
If yes, they would clearly tell you on the admission requirements page which one they need (from work place, from professor, etc) and how many they need.

dxpx:

I finished school more than 5 years now. I don’t even know where my lecturers are. Please is there any alternative to getting the letter of recommendation? Also how many letters? Getting them from my lecturers won’t be possible

Some schools (quite few) accepts English proficiency letter in place of IELTS or TOEFL... You would have to most times send them an email to confirm if it's not stated on their website

For continuous assessment, it's totally dependent on the professor or lecturer taking the course. Some would give you group work, mid term test, project etc for some marks(20-40marks) while exams takes the remaining, for some it's 100% examination, some exams are term paper

Exam pattern is also dependent on the professor/lecturer. For example I'm writing a paper this semester and the professor already told us it's going to be 20 objective questions each questions carrying 5marks.. some exams are like the Nigerian explain, define pattern, sometimes the professor can decide to set subjective questions, sometimes you get objective and theory, sometimes oral exams(one of the toughest to do). The biggest problem with examination here is time, the questions are usually bulky and most time not straight to the point(you know all those questions that starts with stories"if you are the manager of so so company and bla bla happens"wink., you must understand the course content. Some professors are nice enough to provide formulary for you during exams but with bulky questions, some even allow dictionary.

Just as the grading system looks scary, the marking system is actually favourable, hmm well depends on the professor taking the course too.

IMustWin:

Hmmm! This grading system na die ooo.
Plz do they have Continuous Assessment (CA)?
How is it like?
Generally, how is their exams like? Obj, German questions, Practicals or Theory?
Plz enlighten the house!

The steps are clearly explained on the certification page via the embassy website. Go through it
First you book an appointment, you also need the school application form, you have to present the original documents too...
Aizenosa:
Please has anyone certified documents at the embassy before, can you enlighten me on how to go about it, the school i wish to apply to requires it. Thank you

I actually haven't seen someone using this certification. But yea any state ministry would be recognized.
High court, notary public and the embassy are the recognized institutions for certification I know of. N/b-- pay attention to the institution specified by the University. Though every University accepts certification from the German embassy.

IMustWin:
Plz house,
I hope my documents will still be well recognized if I prefer certifying them at the State Ministry of Education and Foreign Affairs in my state, instead of going to the Federal Ministries in Abuja?

Then it means you missed my point. I agree with your friend, there are more opportunities in some Field than others doesn't in mean "others" have no opportunites at all. My disagreement with him is saying people in some particular field shouldn't bother traveling to Germany, you don't come out generalizing negatively because you know someone in such case with a bad story, their are also people that pass through such case with a good ending. Now imagine the guy I said working with claas read such post and decided to do something he has no interest in because people said it's lucrative and ends up being sent out because he couldn't cope. (or do you think everyone in the said lucrative field succeds here, I know some computer science, material science, graudates in paderborn University doing a second degree because of inability to secure a job immediately after graduating)

Bottom line is if you have strong passion in your field STEM or not, Pursue it, get yourself very equiped, you would be alright.. if you know you don't have passion for it then think about starting afresh in the "lucrative fields" but be sure you can cope there or you have yourself to blame (A friend doing Economics in paderborn University too has just one trial in one compulsory course and would be exmatriculated if he fails this time again, he studied Marketing** in Ghana and heard Economics has one of the highest prospect in socal science Field after graduating in Germany which is true, he didn't listen when they told him it's also one of the most difficult)

Ma ya look away now smiley, exams in few weeks. Peace man
IceColdVeins:
Okay. Mr Omniknowest, so you even know why my friend left Dresden. grin
For your info....he had student jobs in Dresden that are not so different from the one he gets in Soest now. I already said his reasons are tantamount to what that guy has been saying. You are the one not getting princejck 's point, he only implied that if your purpose in Germany is to pursue a career, there are far more opportunities in some certain fields than others, since you are not ready to face the reality...Bro kindly look away

Please if you are told it's not lucrative, seat back home and not pursue your dreams ok! smiley
Nobody will tell you about that friend that got a job studying a non STEM course, it's always about that friend that got rejected because her/his hair is short.

I'm studying a non STEM course and the OGs that graduated from my program, a good number of them are doing well. Get yourself properly equiped and you are good to go, if Germany doesn't work for you, your degree is very much valuable in other countries. Don't let anyone tell you to stay back just because one of there friends wasn't successful.
#PeaceOut

Ist semester is first year
GreatSage:

I actually meant if they will begin from 2nd year or 3rd year?
Travel / Re: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by Fabcol(m): 1:49pm On Jan 29, 2020
I can bet with you the major reason your friend left Dresden is because of "students job" opportunities. Dresden is quite dry and he's definitely among the people that entered Germany with any admission not minding if they have interest in the course or not.. I also know someone that studied international Agriculture management living the life here, he works with CLAAS group. It didn't work out for your friend doesn't mean there are no opportunities there. SOEST isn't far from me, I know a graduate of that same course doing a second masters because he couldn't secure a job.
Like what's your point exactly, people that are in other field and have the passion to continue shouldnt come to study in Germany or should end up studying what they don't have passion for?, Who said you must even work in Germany and not other countries?...
IceColdVeins:
I don't know why and how you have the time to be arguing with these people...Let them keep basking in their delussion
My friend got in during 2018 winter for Masters in Tropical forestry, Dresden.....He is now in Soest running a fresh B Sc. Business management and informatics......He didn't even complete 2 semesters in Dresden. When I asked him why, he said many things not different from all you've written above. You have spoken well, so will you retire from arguments already?

Good! I just wanted you to correct the notion directly or indirectly that other fields shouldn't bother applying or coming to Germany, which you just did.

I agree with you, you might get job easier in these fields compared to others but you still need to be good at what you do, like very good! Cause the competition in these fields aint joke
princejck:

There always competition in every field and but you can’t compare engineering or IT to other field cuz u get job offer faster the only problem is if they will pay u well

Did you say you studied in Germany??
So if you study politics, the only place yon can work or apply for a job is Bundesrat
Do you know the competition now in the IT and engineering field, can you tell me everyone you know that studied engineering or IT has a job now?
Yes IT, engeering, medicine, STEM generally has more job openings but that doesn't mean other fields doesn't. If like study a STEM course and not know the language or a skill in that field, you would still struggle

princejck:

There’s a black man in Bundesrat doesn’t mean if u study politic here u go find job there...and am sure no one wants to finish school and struggle so hard to find job...
