Marco Asensio could miss the entirety of the 2019/20 season, after suffering a torn ACL in the pre-season friendly against Arsenal.

Early reports suggest Asensio has torn his cruciate knee ligaments and, if confirmed, it would rule him out for between six and nine months.

A tearful Asensio was taken off on a stretcher and immediately driven to hospital, leaving boss Zinedine Zidane to admit his worry for the 23-year-old.

The NYSC has taken to social media to mourn the death of Precious Owolabi, who was killed during a clash by the police and Shiites in Abuja.

During the shooting a corps member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Precious Owolabi – who was serving with Channels TV – was shot in the stomach.

Taking to Facebook earlier today, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), posted a picture of the late corps member.

The management of the scheme, revealed that Precious Owolabi was a graduate of Performing Arts from the University of Ilorin.

Leon Balogun has taken to Twitter to apologize for his error which led to a goal in the final AFCON Group B match against Madagascar.

The Super Eagles defender committed a “school boy error”, that saw Nigeria trailing 1-0 inside the opening 13 minutes of the game.

After the game, Balogun drew more fury from fans after he told brila.net that he has moved on from that mistake, while insisting that he is human.

The statement didn't go down well with fans, but he seems to have now backtracked on that as he has taken to Twitter to apologize to fans. He also promised that he was going to bounce back.

A Futsal referee has died after he suffered a fatal heart attack on the pitch. The 44-year-old identified as, Isildo Fabiano Bianchi da Silva collapsed during a match between Sao Carlos and Taubate in Sao Carlos, Brazil.

In the video, Isildo Fabiano Bianchi da Silva can be seen bending over with his hands on his knees before falling to the ground.

This led to pandemonium as players from both teams rushed to his side and some even took off their tops and tried to fan him.

The referee was later put onto a stretcher and carried off by Medical staff who then rushed him in an ambulance to the emergency unit in Vila Prado.

John Obi Mikel has confirmed his return to the Super Eagles squad ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of nations (AFCON) in Egypt.

The captain whose return to the squad was in doubt, told AOIFootball that he had a private meeting with the Franco-German and has decided to feature at the continent’s biggest soccer fiesta when it kicks off in Egypt next month. He said;

Russian president Vladimir Putin, fell on his face as he waved to supporters after an exhibition ice hockey game with former National Hockey League players.

The 66-year-old president who is a sport regular, took a face-first spill while waving to the crowd during a post-game victory lap at Sochi’s Bolshoy Ice Dome.

PSG star Neymar has been handed a three match ban after punching a fan following his club's Coupe de France final defeat.

This means the world's most expensive player will not play again this season and will now turn his attention to the Copa America in Brazil.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has nabbed an airport cartel which specializes in planting drugs in passengers’ luggage.

According to the Chairman of the NDLEA, Col. Abdallah (rtd), THe cartel was uncovered after detectives embarked on investigation of a Nigerian lady identified as Zainab Aliyu, who was accused of entering Saudi Arabia with tramadol.

Zainab was arrested by Saudi Arabia Police on December 26, 2018, shortly after arriving for Lesser Hajj, over allegations that a luggage, bearing her name tag, contained the unlawful substance.

However, while in detention, the NDLEA received a petition from her father, seeking a probe of his daughter’s ordeal.

Consequently, the NDLEA Commander in charge of MAKIA launched an investigation, which culminated in the arrest and arraignment of seven staff of the airport.

The accused are Idris Umar Shehu, Sanni Suleiman, Nuhu Adamu, Rhoda Adetunji, Udosen Itoro Henry and Sanni Hamisu. The cartel had planted the tramadol-bearing luggage on Zainab.

It was further established that Zainab, who had only a luggage, was not aware that a second bag had been labelled in her name.

The implication of this discovery by NDLEA is that many Nigerians arrested and executed for drug trafficking in Saudi Arabia might be innocent.

A former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, has replied Chris Ngige after the minister said doctors are free to leave Nigeria.

Speaking on Channels TV Sunrise Daily, Ngige said;

“I’m Not Worried, We Have Surplus (Doctors), if we have a surplus, we export. I was taught Biology and Chemistry by Indian teachers in my secondary school days.

“They are surplus in their country. We have a surplus in the medical profession in our country. I can tell you this. It is my area, we have excess. We have enough, more than enough, quote me.”

In reaction, Reno Omokri tagged the statement as a show of arrogance, he wrote on Twitter;

Aisha Buhari has revealed her plan to establish a private university to be known as “Muhammadu Buhari University”.

The wife of the President Buhari, disclosed this on Saturday during a town hall meeting in Yola organized by her in collaboration with concern indigenes of Adamawa.

She explained that the university would be established in collaboration with partners from Sudan and Qatar, though she didn't state the location where it would be sited. She said;

“I cannot conclude without suggesting how we can complement the efforts of government in achieving some of its developmental goals.

“On this note, I would like to advocate for the establishment of Adamawa Development Trust Fund through which prioritized developmental projects can be financed and implemented.”

Nigerian singer and songwriter, Sean Tizzle, has denied quitting music, while also explaining why many people think he has taken the step.

Its been a while since Sean Tizzle released a track, featured in one or held a show. This has led many Nigerians to believe that the singer, originally named, Morihanfen Oluwaseun Oluwabamidele, has quit music.

In a chat with Showtime, he explained why it seemed like he had quit music, while also stating that he has plans to return fully into the music scene. He said;

“A huge number of people tend to think I relocated or moved abroad; this was the mindset of a lot of people about me. I traveled for months on my US tour and also spent time working with other artistes and producers. As an artiste I believe change of environment is sometimes helpful for a creative person. I worked with Grammy award winning producers and I was the first Nigerian artiste to meet and work with Tory Lanez back in 2016. To avoid irregularities one has to keep working and allow the music speak for itself,”

“I have always been in Nigeria; people just like to think I’m not in town. And I can’t blame them because of a lot of these people don’t know me on a personal level or know my schedule. I try to make myself available when I can and let out only what I want the public to know about.”
