Romance › Re: Ladies, What Was Your "Coming-of-age" List Of Qualities In A Man? What Changed? by fablani(m): 6:53am On Dec 12, 2019 |
Ishilove: Sister computergeek, to be sincerely honest...the below was my list when I was younger and still had stars in my eyes.
Tall Dark Handsome Stinkingly rich Muscular Dick_ must be the size of orobo Pepsi bottle (make me walk like a duck, honey) More intelligent than I am. A lover of arts A man on fire for God.
I read romance novels briefly in my teens but I abandoned them because I could not connect with them. Why does the hero always have to be handsome? Is love meant for only handsome people? I would read M&B, and then after reading look round and still see the same strong, sun hardened faces of my Nigerian brothers who didn't have the faintest idea about chivalry. Chivalry is dead. Bleh. Romance novels fill your head with nonsense.
And then I grew up! With maturity comes a more realistic worldview. Many times God doesn't give us want we want but what we need. He works in mysterious ways and he knows what will benefit us, even when we are crying and tearing our hair and demanding...may, begging for the perfect man. He doesn't give us the perfect man; he gives us the man who is perfect for us.
Nature strives for balance, which is why opposites attract. That's why introverts attract extroverts. Garrulous people attract taciturn people, hot tempered folks cope best with cool as ice people. That's why you must always factor the Maker of All Creation itself when choosing a partner, and ultimately, allow Him to select for you. TELL HIM THAT YOU ARE GIVING HIM PERMISSION TO LET HIS PERFECT WILL BE DONE.
With maturity my list evolved to-
God fearing. A man on fire for God.
Comfortable (who stinking rich epp? ) I have a well paying job, Mr Right must have one too.
Intelligent. No compromise on that one. God help you your kids take after your less than intelligent partner. You will spend all your money on private tutors.
Must be a tiger in za oza room. The size of his jabulani didn't seem so important anymore, as long as it worked well and could make me purrrrr like a satisfied pussy...cat
One who complemented me in every way amd would take me as his lover, companion and best friend.
That definitely made more sense than big dicked, muscular fellows who would probably end up losing all those toned muscles, replacing them with Uber flabs, and then become unattractive to me in middle age. Best so far |

seunmsg: Buhari is seriously embarrassing those of us that supported him with the way he’s handling Sowore’s matter. The daylight abduction of Sowore inside the courtroom today is an act of tyranny and I join all Nigerians to condemn the barbaric act. There is no justification whatsoever for the evil act that was perpetrated by DSS today.
Buhari should immediately order the release of Sowore and apologize to Nigerians for desecrating the temple of justice. The next level should be of economic prosperity and not of oppression and barbarism. you and your cohorts are big fool's. both you and Sowore will suffer for your evil |

The lord has been doing a lot of miracles in my life and that of my families. this is the first time am sharing a testimony publicly. Though i have been appreciating him in my own way. After youth service in 2016, i move to abuja to seek for greener, but to be honest it was not easy, nothing was green at all. So I resorted to doing menial job like loading and offloading of vehicles etc. The problem was not the hardship and bankruptcy i was passing through then. Rather it was continuous sickness ranging from, headache, tiredness, malaria and typhoid. reason why i look frail then. besides , the meagre income i get were all spent on drugs which i took without eating properly After two year of that affliction, I met my Parish Priest who prayed for me and I felt instant healing that day. from that day till today. Am free from all the sickness. I am thankful to God and urge anyone whi is still passing through any travail to have faith and hope in God that he will come to his help soon. |

Anas09: Let me share one out of so many in my life.
Someone years ago, I was involved in an accident which threatened to either take my life or amputate my leg.
I had to choose either to amputate my leg and live or die with my legs. I chose to stay alive with my legs complete. I was informed by my doctor that I wld die if the leg was not severed from my body because of the infection which set in.
And that if I managed to live, I wld never use the leg to walk again in my life. But, I told them that I will not only live but wld walk with the leg. Funny enough, I was less than a yr old believer in Christ then. I can't tell where that faith and confidence came from. I didn't even have a Bible.
All I knew about the Bible were Bible stories from 'My Book of Bible Stories'. But two stories became alive to me. I didn't know where they found in the Bible, but I knew they were there.
The story of the women with Issue of Blood and the leperous man who came and said to Jesus "Master, if you are willing, you can make me whole', and Jesus said 'I am willing'". I believed in that Jesus they believed in, and I knew what He did for them. He was willing to do for me too. How old was I, a little above a teenager.
Well, I was discharged from the Hospital and I went home. Long story short, it took 10yrs before I could walk with the leg again. I went through 8 surgical operations fixing and removing mentals from inside my body. Both soft tissue surgeries and hard tissue surgeries.
Now, I changed doctors three times. The last hospital I went to, a metal was placed inside of me.
I did Skin grafting twice, Bone grafting twice also. One of the times that bone grafting was done, they forgot to remove a lump of gauze from inside of my body. The place they borrowed a bone from to patch my leg had 12 sutures on my pelvics region. Two days after the surgery it broke open and won't close no matter what we did.
They didn't know that they had left an external antibody inside of me. Hmmm. I was kept in the hospital for three montha after which I was discharged with the wound yet to heal. I was prepared on how to dress the wound and Keep it free from any infection.
Intervally, I went for checkups, they didn't understand why that wound wasn't healing. I carried that open wound for 1yr and some months. By this time I was on daily Antibiotics in short I was on drugs for the 10 yrs that these lasted to keep infection away. If you know any antibiotics, I have taken it.
One day, my Church then (Not winners Chapel) had a program. Rev. Una Ukpai came. I was still on crutches then, for I used Crutches for 10yrs too. In the program Anointing oil was blessed for us and it was tagged, 'Weapon of Mass destruction'. As my Faith is, I believed it. I told myself that anything that oil touches shall go down.
I got home that night and decided enough was enough with the wound on my waist. I decided to go off the Antibiotics and face it with that Anointing oil. That night, I cleaned the wound, packed it with that oil instead of the procaine I had always used.
I slept. The next morning i woke up my waist was on fire. I was feeling like a robe was tight around my waist and was being pulled on. When I checked the wound, it had swollen up like an abscess.
I saw some whitish robby particles on the surface of the wound. I used my forcep to pull it out, it won't come out, then I discovered there was somethig inside of me. I became scared. I wanted to call the doctor to let him know, but on another thought, if he knows he wld ask me to go in and I wld be admitted and taken to the theatre and make a big deal out of it. So, I summoned courage and pulled it out.
Gushhhhh, the kind of accumulated bad blood that gushed out was so much. It smelled so bad I was very light hearted. But, it came out. I wondered where all that blood was? Inside of me all these time? My God!!!!
I washed it clean and dried it. I first went to church and gave a testimony before going to the hospital to see the Doctor. They tried to make a fuss, I told them my God did it already.
Somefolk said 'Sue the hospital'. I laughed. God was merciful on me to keep that think inside of me for a year and months. I could have died of infection and no one wld ve known what killed me. Why not give Him glory and move on. So I did.
So brethren that was how anointing oil pushed out a foreign body that was inside of me for more than a year. Under one week, that wound healed till today.
Today, I am completely healed. I walk with the leg. I wear heels. I walk without a limp. You won't believe I wld ever walk if you knew me then. But God honoured my Faith in Him and healed me.
And forgiveness helped me too. I forgave the man who caused the accident. Everyone wanted me to use police against him. He didn't have any money, the car wasn't even his. So, I let him go.
Today, this accident to me is the best thing that has ever happened to me because I wld not have known Christ the way I do now. I now have the patience to study the word and meditate on it.
My faith is like a mountain now. I don't have one single fear for satan now because I now know him because I know Jesus and I know who I am.
My testimony is that Jesus is real to me now. He talks and I hear. Before anything happens to me, He shows me first. My life has direction now. I know my assignment on earth and I'm pursuing it. I for dey run around like every fine babe dey shoot blanks.
Our love strong, me and Jesus. our lord is good |

ovadozes: Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara, has donated some parts of the enclave of the Boko Haram, Sambisa forest, for the controversial Rural Grazing Area (RUGA) programme.
The governor also mobilised the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Agro Rangers and hunters to secure the large expanse of the forest and make it safe for the scheme.
The allocated area (forest) covers six council areas of Konduga, Bama, Gwoza, Chibok, Damboa and Askira/Uba.
The governor made the decision public last Monday when he hosted the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Garbai El-Kanemi, who paid him Sallah homage.
He said the deployment of agro rangers, vigilantes and hunters are to protect farmers and herders in their respective communities.
Umara told the monarch that the state government would also deploy an Emergency Rapid Response Team (ERRT), comprising of security personnel, to protect commuters and rural dwellers against Boko Haram insurgents and bandits.
According to the governor, “This administration is determined to strengthen the security architecture to encourage farming and herding activities across the state.
“We’re also distributing 80 patrol vehicles to the response team so that farmers, herders and commuters could move as well as travel within a radius of 30-40 kilometres of Maiduguri metropolis.”
Umaru said the security response team, comprises 500 troops and hunters that know the terrain of the forest.
On RUGA implementation, he said: “About 75 trained agro rangers and 300 hunters will also be mobilised next week to enable farmers cultivate their farmlands that were prevented by terrorists’ activities.
“The state government is determined to address the root causes of insurgency through improved security; fight against drug abuse and enhance food security with increased job creation among unemployed youths.”
He revealed that the state government had also embarked on vegetation and bush clearance of 187-kilometre Maiduguri-Damboa-Biu road, noting that the exercise would ensure safety of travelers and motorists to ease movements of goods and services in the state.
The governor also directed the immediate demolition of illegal structures in the metropolis, adding that the structures are suspected to be used by prostitutes and illicit drug dealers, and must be checked to sanitise the state capital.
In his response, the monarch, who commended the governor, called for an effective security measures along with the demolition of illegal hotels in Maiduguri.

Nigeria education system; Idealism vs realism
As a pupil, my Dad always sing it like to our ear how unable to go to school was the reason he he was suffering to provide and train us in school. He painted the picture of how going to school and acquiring good grades will make us live in an Eldorado in Nigeria. This motivational words of my Dad made me not to play with my academics from my primary school till I graduated. Hence why I never repeat any class or carry any course over as an undergraduate. As the first child cum first graduate of the house, I was ignorant of the "what is " obtainable in Nigeria labour market. Due to the fact that I relied on the earlier orientation that my Dad gave me about going to university and graduating with a good grade as a prerequisite for good life. This led to frustration after searching for jobs for over a year all to no avail. That was when I understood that certificate is no longer a guarantee to meal ticket and hence my interest in freelance business. Thanks
