Vinnie2000:

An Clothing Organization that sells Baggy Jeans, (One for N20000), Increased price to N35000, due to the Harsh Economic situation of the Tinibu Govt.

Most Clients complained but later Adjusted when the company explained things with them.

Now a Dubious Client still wanted to buy 1 Jean @the N20000 Old Price and gave the amount to a Staff
(Who is her Family friend) to pay and Hoodwink the secretary to write Receipt for her.

The Staff agreed in this Plan and Tried to carry it out but FAILED.

So Question is, What is the appropriate Punishment for the Staff?
*SACK?
*SUSPENSION?
*Or QUERY?
This is a case of fraudulent action, appropriate punishment by Company is outright dismissal(sack). query, followed by outright sack without compensation.

I don't think there is anyone who doesn't know this.......I would be surprised if there is
A lot of ppl don't know or may be they don't just care, they just want to name a certain figure. i do indirectly help candidates during interview by asking if the figures quoted is Gross or Net. it's at that moment they will now come to their senses, some will then ask for d diff btw gross n net, some will now state clearly that it's net or gross. some actually know d difference but won't be specific during d interview, they just give a certain desired figure without considering d statutory deductions etc, only to be disappointed when d net hit them on d pay day.
so be more specific when negotiating salary when next u go for that interview.

Who told you the company has no process.

The reason why this happened is probably because the Head of Operations put a lot of pressure on the accountant because he is of a higher rank
Lol, if there was process in place, there wouldn't have been need for pressure in d first place. The HoO can merely give payment instruction while d accountant INITIATE(not pay) d payment then follows d payment approval processes which may include(not limited to) signing by: 1. the accountant, 2. the HoO himself, 3. the HIC(Head of internal control) & 4. the E.D(or the MD) before d disbursement.
on the other hand, are you saying d accountant has absolute power to make ANY payment without anyone checking or approving such? how did he even make d payment? was it:
1. via instruction to d bank? which the E.D or the M.D has to sign the payment instruction before the bank could honour it or
2. via direct uploading to d bank online platform? which he can only INITIATE while the E.D or the M.D would have to approve online before the money is disbursed?
3. or any other method. i like to know how he singlehandedly make d payment.

In as much as the accountant became a victim of circumstance, I blame him for adhering to such an instruction when it didn't come directly from the MD. However, I trust karma to visit the Operation head for denying the instruction he gave out on behalf of the company.
even if it comes directly from d MD it has to be in writing or d MD signs off on the payment voucher or d payment instruction. even a whatsapp msg(confirmation/instruction from d MD wld help too). u don't act on verbal instruction especially when it comes to money, knowing-fully-well that once it goes out it may be difficult to recover.
