1. You can be admitted in the US for data analytics masters. You will just have to take 3 to 5 undergraduate pre-requisite depending on your school and background experience.

2. You can't have problem at the embassy as long as you can defend the career switch.

3.for full scholarships, you can get a cgpa based funding or non-academic graduate assistant. Reason is because you are switching to a new field different from your undergraduate, you won't be able to get teaching assistant or research assistant because these requires you to have UG related experience

So my lack of experience and undergraduate degree won't be a problem?

Yeah, having a work experience can be an advantage, but that doesn't mean people without work experience won't do well or contribute well in business school as you claimed.

The best 5 students of accounting and human behaviour in my class last semester were all from none MBA background including me. Mine was even worse because I was non-business background (chemistry) with just 1 year banking experience from naija.

What did I do?, when planning to go to business school, I simply enrolled for short online business, finance and management courses on udemy to prepare myself ahead, read several books and watched several videos on YouTube as well to get myself grounded in the task ahead of me. The way I "dey yarn for class ehn" you will wonder if was from a business background.

On recruitment part, Alot of us were able to secure summer internship with the likes of AXA, VISA, and several others before the covid pandemic even with our non business background/experiences.


I'm not disputing your point that work experience boost chances in business school, but just clearing it out that it's not a sole requirement of excelling in business school.

Anyone who has a clear MBA goal is adviced to try with or without business background or experiences.

The problem is I don't desire to further in Chemistry anymore but rather in data analysis. I have started trying myself in this field but I have no real field experience.

For the single father aspect, I really don't understand the correlation but anyways, for you not to be a single father includes you choosing the right wife, which is why you need to know your net worth among other things.

I love your ambition and it’s achievable! Your background shouldn’t affect your aspirations in life. What’s your CGPA?

Try to do the following during your NYSC:

1. Write GRE and IELTS during your NYSC.

2. Build your research skills by writing research papers and publish them in a good Journal.

3. Develop a viable research proposal.

4. Get your transcript and certificates.

5. Get your international passport.

6. Try to participate in one or two community service.


For Australia, you could get research scholarship for masters then you move onward to PhD. Kindly note that it’s difficult to get full scholarship for coursework masters but it’s very possible with research scholarships.

As advised earlier, try to be on look out for Commonwealth scholarships and Chevening.

Lemme elaborate more on research scholarships. You’ll need to check the school department web page for lecturers that have interest in your proposed research.

In preparing the proposal, you need to do an extensive literature review and identify a gap you want to work on.

Organize the proposal according to the following headings as it would help your prospective supervisor understand your work:

• the background

• study problem,

• an overview of the literature on the topic,

• the gap in knowledge,

• research question,

• the specific objectives,

• study methodology and theories to underpin the study

• potential contribution to knowledge and practice and the Significance of the study.


In terms of schools, you can consider the following schools because they have lot of research based scholarships:

RMIT
QUT
Unimelb
Others �


Lastly, don’t limit yourself to Australia alone, check other countries like New Zealand, Ireland, UK, etc.
