Trut:GOD has NATURALLY blessed Nigeria to the extent that it should be NIGERIANS who should be investing billions of Euro and Dollars. And not the imperialists. Alas, Corruption and now cluelessness(in the last 16 years) have not allowed this God-given purpose to come to pass. Praise God, there is hope..... #March4Buhari |

Wole Soyinka: No One Should Vote For Jonathan-He Has Shown A Total Failure In Leadership Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, declared on Thursday that no one should vote for the continuation of President Goodluck Jonathan’s government, saying that there has been a total failure in leadership. He said he has sixty reasons not to vote for the Jonathan regime. BY SIMON ATEBA/LAGOSFEB 05, 2015 He said he has sixty reasons not to vote for the Jonathan regime. PHOTONEWS: Wole Soyinka At Lagos Black Heritage Festival 2015 “I will not vote and I will not encourage anyone to vote for the continuation of this government, simply because your colleagues numbering over two hundred were kidnapped, ” Soyinka told students at the 2015 edition of Vision of the Child (VOTC), a yearly programme inaugurated in 2012. He said the Chibok girls kidnapped on 14 April of last year were sent on a mission to acquire an education, but ended up being kidnapped. “And the government of this nation failed to show leadership. So anyone who says after that event that I will vote or cast my vote or encourage anyone to vote for this regime must be living in Sambisa forest,” Soyinka said, referring to a forest in Borno State where the Chibok girls are believed to be held by Boko Haram. “There has been a failure of leadership. Our children whom you represent today have been betrayed,” Soyinka said, adding that no appropriate action was taken to retrieve them. Soyinka said it took the Jonathan government ten days to even accept that the Chibok girls were even missing. “After that dereliction of duty, after that failure of leadership, after that betrayal for our future, for anyone to think or to put words in my mouth suggesting that I will vote or encourage anyone to vote for this regime is a travesty of intelligence, ” Soyinka said. Soyinka laughed off those who had claimed on the social media that he was dead, telling journalists at the event that they should not misquote him. If they do, he added, he will rise from the dead to correct them. The 2015 edition of Vision of the Child has for theme “The Road to Sambisa”. This year, a total of 250 student participants from 60 primary and secondary schools within Lagos attended the interview. The age bracket for the participants was 9 to 12 years. Their entries were assessed by a panel of eminent judges comprising teachers, artists, child carers and social workers. The finalists will be invited on the 7 March to the National Conversation Foundation Park. Lekki, and provided with brush, paint and easel, and will be required to illustrate their literary presentation in the complementary medium painting. This year, 60 finalists were drawn from 35 schools within Lagos State, said Foluke George, Festival Secretary and Programme Manager for the Vision of the Child. |

BREAKING: Audit report indicts NNPC, corporation to refund $1.48billion February 5, 2015Bassey Udo UPDATE: How Nigerian Government mismanaged multi-billion Naira special funds – NEITI report The forensic audit conducted by the audit firm of PriceWaterHouseCoopers on behalf of the Federal Government on the operations of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation [NNPC] has indicted the management of the national oil company for various questionable transactions. Part of the recommendations include that the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company, NPDC, the upstream subsidy of the NNPC should refund about $1.48billion to the Federation Account for various unreconciled transactions. More details of report to come. President Goodluck Jonathan had on Monday publicly received the report a day after a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria [CBN], Chukwuma Soludo, wrote a long, acerbic article accusing the managers of the Nigerian economy of misappropriating over N30trillion of public funds, including several billions in oil money. The forensic audit was commissioned following allegation by the immediate past Governor of the CBN, Lamido Sanusi, that about $20 billion oil money was missing from the NNPC. The Presidency had on March 12, 2014 announced, through a statement by the president’s spokesperson, Reuben Abati, that it had authorised the engagement of reputable international firms to carry out the forensic audit of the accounts of the NNPC. The allegation that the huge amount had been stolen was raised in 2013 by a former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Lamido Sanusi, who is now the Emir of Kano. Mr. Sanusi said as much as $49 billion was diverted by state oil company, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC. He later reviewed the amount to $20 billion, and called for investigations after writing to President Goodluck Jonathan. A Senate probe into the allegation yielded no result. Mr. Sanusi was later fired by President Jonathan after he was accused of “financial recklessness”. The government said no money was missing, but promised a forensic investigation of NNPC. In April 2014, the Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, announced the appointment of the accounting firm, PriceWaterHouseCoopers (PwC), to conduct a detailed investigation into the accounts and activities of NNPC. The minister said the investigation, under the supervision of the Office of the Auditor-General of the Federation, would take about 16 weeks. That schedule meant at most by September 2014 ending, the report should have been ready. A two-month delay meant the report should have been ready by November. But the government only publicly received the report on Monday. More to come… |

TMG Dissociates Self From Presidential Debates, Accuses Organisers Of Fraud BY ABBAS JIMOHJAN 31, 2015 The Transition Monitoring Group (TMG) has dissociated itself from the presidential election debates organised by the Nigeria Elections Debate Group (NEDG). Audience made up Presidential loyalists at the 2011 debate Chairman TMG Ibrahim Zikirullahi in a protest letter to the NEDG Executive Secretary Eddie Emessiri obtained by our reporter on Saturday in Abuja also accused the organisers of fraudulently using its name to solicit fund without its consent. "For the avoidance of doubt, TMG wants to make it clear that at no time were we invited either verbally or in writing to participate in putting together the 2015 Presidential Election Debates. We are therefore dismayed that our name and corporate identity has been used, including in requests for sponsorship, creating the impression that TMG is officially in the know of these debates. "To say the least, we find the unauthorized use of our corporate identity in canvassing for funding, and in creating the impression that we are an integral part of the project, unacceptable. This runs contrary to the objectives of transparency and probity that an otherwise laudable project like the Presidential Debates would seek to entrench in Nigeria’s democratic space," Zikirullahi said. He said the TMG believes in deepening Nigeria’s democracy and would ordinarily be at the forefront of promoting activities like the debate for candidates but would however not be party to underhand moves that sacrifice due process and good conscience on the altar of expediency. |
Obanikoro slammed for circulating fake ‘Buhari stoning’ incident Jan 30 2015 - 8:12pm Kayode Ogundamisi, a Nigerian based in London, promptly tweeted back: “Sorry Musilu the only STONE you saw was in yah dream”. Obanikoro had acted on a false news report to condemn the alleged stoning of the APC candidate in the Idumagbo area of Lagos. But all witnesses to the APC rally in Teslim Balogun Stadium, the pre-rally visit to the Oba of Lagos and the procession to the stadium denied the report. In a statement the All Progressives Congress (APC) said the story by former MInister of State for Defence Musiliu Obanikoro was a brazen a lie and that a lie has never worn a bolder face. Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party’s national publicity secretary said Gen. Buhari and other top leaders of the APC rode in an open bus from the Palace of the Oba of Lagos to the Teslim Balogun Stadium venue of the rally, to great cheers from Lagosians who lined the route. ”Not once was he pelted with stone during the almost two-hour ride. It is obvious that those who were paid by Mr. Obanikoro to stone the General failed to deliver. We therefore urge him to seek a refund of whatever money he paid to his hired hands to pelt Gen. Buhari with stones,” it said. APC said Obanikoro’s statement on an imaginary attack on Gen. Buhari in Lagos must be his own way of saying ‘thank you’ to his masters for nominating him as Minister on Friday, as his reward for ceding the gubernatorial ticket he claimed to have won to Jimi Agbaje. The party thanked the good people of Lagos for turning out in unprecedented numbers to welcome Gen. Buhari to Lagos, saying the Centre of Excellence has never witnessed such a huge and cheery crowd. |
[b]BREAKING: Jonathan nominates Obanikoro, six others as ministers January 30, 2015Premium Times President Goodluck Jonathan has forwarded the names of seven new ministers to the Senate for confirmation, African Independent Television [AIT] is reporting. Among the nominees are a former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, Kenneth Kobani, a former National Treasurer of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria [ACN], who recently defected to the Peoples Democratic Party, and a former Senator, Patricia Akwashiki. More to come… Mr. Obanikoro was one of the biggest casualties of the gubernatorial primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP], after resigning his ministerial position on October 15 to vie for the party’s ticket in Lagos for the 2015 election. He lost to Jimi Agbaje, a relatively less known candidate, who had the backing of the party’s most powerful leaders in Lagos. Alongside Mr. Obanikoro, former ministers Emeka Wogu, Labaran Maku, Onyebuchi Chukwu, and Samuel Ortom, also lost their bids after leaving their posts to contest in their respective states. Mr. Obanikoro rejected the Lagos results and filed a legal challenge against the declaration of Mr. Agbaje as winner, kicking off a row that has the potential to ruin any chances the party may have in snatching Lagos from All Progressives Congress, APC in 2015. The logjam was finally been resolved amicably after President Goodluck Jonathan assured Mr. Obanikoro he would reappoint him to cabinet as part of a deal personally brokered by the President to get him to discontinue his legal challenge of the PDP governorship primary result for Lagos State. Mr. Obanikoro later withdrew his court case, at the same time promising to fully support Mr. Agbaje as the PDP candidate.[/b][color=#550000][/color] |

I cut this from a face book comment. It's hilarious, to say the least. Hear President Goodluck Jonathan at the Campaign Rally in Port-Harcourt: “I should be congratulated and commended for not developing Rivers and Bayelsa states to avoid being accused of being biased in allocating developments to the two States but if we are re-elected we will now concentrate development in these two states" This guy (GEJ) is the kind of guy that gets paid end of month wages; on his way home, he waits to catch molue at Idumota; he will place the envelope containing his salary under his armpit, afraid that thieves may cut his pockets. This kind of Goodluck guy will, on sighting the molue, raise both hands to catch the door handles. Guess where the wages landed? …The Canary Nation |
“ If I’m voted into power within the next four years, the issue of power will become a thing of the past. Four years is enough for anyone in power to make significant improvement and if I can’t improve on power within this period, it then means I cannot do anything even if I'm there for the next{for another} four years.” “I would have loved that the Nigerians in Diaspora vote this year. But to be frank with you, that is going to be difficult now. Presently, the law does not allow the voting outside Nigeria and so this year Nigerians in Diaspora will not vote but I will work towards it by 2015 even though I WILL NOT BE RUNNING FOR ELECTION (emphasis mine).” JEG 2011 |
