When Paul gave the advice not to forsake the gathering of the brethren, the Church was still young and needed constant edification.

If you convert someone to Christianity, you will need to stay with them constantly to help them grow in the faith, otherwise, they may backslide and return to their old ways.

Paul did not say that you can't get to heaven by being alone.

Moreover, going to church every Sunday is not the same as the gathering of the brethren that Paul mentioned.

Paul was not referring to a weekly gathering where you will all dress up and go and listen to a man in suit who calls himself pastor.

He was referring to a conversational gathering where you will all come with your individual gifts and contribute these gifts to the service of edification of souls.

How many of you even recognize your gifts, let alone use them in your so-called gatherings of brethrens?

How many Christians even know at least a family in the church they attend? How many of you know the person that sat beside you in church? How many of your church members have you called up with love? How many of the fellow congregants do you have their phone number?

Today's church is far from the gathering that Paul was talking about.

Today's church does not make you grow spiritually. It only makes you grow in the church's tradition and doctrines. It inhibits your spiritual gifts. Only the pastor teaches, only the pastor prophesies, only the pastor is believed to be a man of God.

I could be wrong but Sometimes I feel men will continue to struggle financially because

A. As the world population increases and resources thin out, more and more men will struggle to make ends meet for themselves and thier family.

B. More and more women are entering the workforce, sometimes displacing the oppourtnites that could have been open to men and the women turn around to say the men are not financially responsible.People rarely talk about this, but it's TRUE. Many efforts are made to educate the girl child, when I was In university abroad. Many scholarships and Grant's were open to women only.

While we may argue that it's a good thing women are financially stable, the price some of them would have to pay is that they may not be happy maritally and some of them are ok with it.

A friend in Saudi Arabia told me women there dont work, it makes me think if the women there are happier and fulfilled. In fact to take a 2nd wife, the govt. Vets you to qualify to have more than 1. When a man fails in his duty maybe due ato death or disability, the state and family takes over. Are women designed to even work?

Also we need to think is Polygamy really as bad aaas we are told it is. Before christianity came to Africa, men and women were ok with it until the white mans religion told us it was not ok. Let's even reason together, with the current ratio of sexes, will every woman have 1 man to herself. Sticking to this norm will leave some people lonely.

Well, brother what I must contribute is about the power of the Sub-conscious mind. What you listen to constantly have a strong power to affect your physical life. Whatever the message is contained in the music or movie can affect you indirectly. You may find yourself being indulged I it in thought and your will power towards such either evil or sinful thought will depreciate. If you listen to music that promote illicit sex you may fall into such temptation sooner than you think. If you watch movies with Gay themes you may find yourself being accommodating of such ideas and sympathetic of gay course. But those are created skirmishes. They are subtle ways of getting you, they are "subliminal messages " thus is how whites have sold evils to the blacks without the guns or wars.
They are all means of colonizing the minds of the youth (who will eventually become the fathers and mothers of tomorrow). You can imagine the thoughts of a father who constantly indulge in Pornography.
Why do u see the high rate of sexual misbehaviors? What you see or listen to affects your mind STRONGLY.

To avoid confusion, we have to define what secular music/movies means and types of secular music/movies.

Secular music is a nonreligious music. But it can contain truth that is found in religion. It can contains evil lyrics too. It can contain the good, the bad and the ugly. So a christian that sing a song that contains bible truth is no doing bad. The bad ones are those that contain the bad and the ugly. But if a Creative christian changes the bad and the ugly to godly lyrics, he is doing well.

When it comes to movies, ur remote control shud come in handy. There are many good secular movies with sex or lustful scenes here and there. When u get to such scene, jump and pass them. Don't fool yourself that u are a man or a woman, that u will marry, that u have married etc. LUST is a sin that will lead u to hell. If u don't have the self control to skip immoral scenes, don't watch secular movies. They will only land u in hell.

It is not all about good living. Christian teachings have made nations great. But at a point, they dump it and started practicing abortion, same sex marriage, legal prostitution, legalizing marijuana etc. Are u comfortable with all those things? Nigeria is not great today because many do not practice Christianity. If our politicians were not corrupt, Nigeria will be one of the world powers by now. Many churches today have deviated. I am Anglican, and in our church newspaper, mini skirts and tight, shape-revealing dresses are being advertised in the fashion section. Preachings against popular sins is very rare. So for many churches, it is all about money. Salvation no longer matters.

But all these shud not discourage u from going to church. Go to church and win souls for Christ.
