Yes we do. Our main revenue stream, oil, has gone down.

Actually that's the period we even had our highest borrowings. We borrowed to fund recurrent consumption, we borrowed to pay salaries, we even borrowed ostensibly to fund the war against BH but ended up being largesse to PDP via Dasuki. And this borrowing was against a backdrop of rising oil revenues.

It was the organized labor and virtually every Nigerian that resisted subsidy removal, mostly because of the duplicity of FG and poor presentation of the deal. Also, subsidy was partially removed by GEJ and the savings seemingly ploughed back into Sure P, only to end up doing absolutely nothing and the funds vanishing into thin air.

Our main source of revenue is dwindling, our income-generating agencies are rife with corruption, our economic system is consumption based, our government structure is bloated and parasitic. Our civil service is vast and unproductive.

Tell me how we can sustain or even develop this system without funds. Where the only option is to borrow, shouldn't we, as long as the will is there to do the right thing?

Let's be optimistic about PMB's intentions. We all hope for a better Nigeria. But we won't get it if we all decide to be armchair cynics and critics hoping it all fails.

If he does fail, then by all means he shall bear our wrath. But until so, we owe Nigeria our hopes and prayers, because win or lose...it affects us all.
I agree with most of what you've stated out. I just hope there is a sincere will to do the right thing. Indeed we all hope for a better Nigeria and pray things work out well.

As developed America is, they still borrow and they have huge debt.
Yaradua borrowed for good reason but Jonathan borrowed to finance Dasuki Spending spree. 2007-2015 borrowed money were squandered on selfish and personal motive and without transparency
Jonathan's issue is a discussion for another day.

America doesn't just rely on oil and as such has the means to service their debt. With dwindled oil prices, can same be said for us?

did u read? Even though the title has misled a lot of fools, reading the article wld av saved u a face.

The guy didn't slam the president, He slammed the bad implementation if the budgetary system in nigeria
I read the article and I know he made the statement even before the president presented the budget to the joint NASS.

I just don't see how implementation of this budget will be different from previous ones.

Where's the truth?

He even indicted his own party when he said as at 2007 Nigeria was debt-free. Between 2007 and 2015 the country has accumulated a massive pile of debt.

Well, buhari just came on board and is yet to borrow a kobo.

All the borrowing was by GEJ.
The truth is we don't need more borrowing to improve the
economy and better the lives of ordinary people as evidenced between 2007 & 2015 and in truth, if the the crop of people that now constitute the FG had allowed fuel subsidy removal, we wouldn't have been deep into this economic mess as we are in now.

For me, it's not about political party or about whose regime we accumulated a massive pile of debt. All I'm interested in is what will be good for us collectively and I think yet more borrowing is not the way forward.

some people will even empty other baskets into theirs & kip others for their relatives at home.

I think once in awhile our churches should do this and not just dish out Bible promises.

DouchessPunkyII:
You're a commitmentphobe. You don't want a close relationship because it requires much more effort than your distant relationships. In a way, you're keeping a part of yourself to yourself, not completely vulnerable & exposed. Also, you could be the type that prefers fantasy over reality. When you're dating someone from afar, it gives you the chance to indulge in daydreaming & fantasy, the pining, etc. I think you've gotten addicted to the fantasy part, on top of being afraid of commitment or getting close to people in the flesh.

Although coming from a man known with much talking, there is an element of truth in what he's saying, laced with facts. Let's just be optimistic that our economy will be diversified and the budget will work.
PoliticsRe: Pat Utomi: '2016 Budget Process Is A Joke' by fasho01(m): 7:27am On Dec 23, 2015
Glad this is coming from an APC chieftain. Its not about trying to appeal to the emotions of the masses but about the feasibility and long term effect of such a proposed budget. Sadly majority of us are just interested in things working, not minding if the process to make it work is the right step in the right direction.

That VC is very insensitive to the plight of the ordinary student, knowing fully well that most of the indegenes sponsor themselves. its rather unfortunate cos he came from a most humble home, had to rely on scholarship to pass through school & is in a perfect situation to understand their plight.. sadly he is a criminal. FG should please intervene

PoliticsRe: Obama Leaves Nigeria Out Of $110m Peacekeeping Fund by fasho01(m): 4:54am On Aug 11, 2014
overhypedsteve: why are you wasting your time trying to educate ignoramoses. Are you not happy that nigeria and its army is not placed under the control of a western sponsored peace keeping initiative. (how much is $110 mil) that we would want to subject our army to a western sponsored peace keeping initiative, remember say na person wey pay musician dey chose song. Our soldiers are not mercenaries and do not need any such money to remind them of their duty in protecting brother nations was nigerian peace keeping role facilitated by any US imperialistic financial project. Those americans who said that nigeria was excluded as a result of the human right abuses of it soldiers are hiding the truth. One can easily see that the US selected african states that can be compelled to pipe along with either sanctiion or foreign aid. Why is it that uganda just revoked its anti gay law and suddenly the US is all friendly with her. Or is it ghana with it band of corrupt dimwits posing as government officers stealing the country dry and still borrowing from IMF to steal more. Is it that country (name witheld) were child soldiers was institutionalised and a brutal civil war that threatened to tear the very fabrics of human right. If nigeria must be added in that group then why dont you ask yourself why isnt Algeria, south africa, egypt, angola, cameroun, kenya and other better placed countries included. Or re we going to go back down the ladder and allow our military men now veseted with the harsh experience of desert welfare, CTCOIN, urban welfare and to waste their time running peace keeping errands for america and its errand boys ( because of 110 million dollars) fact is that america may just be hiding its face, maybe the nigerian government have quietly rejeted the imperialistic offer. How can any country under ecowas with the provisions of ECOMOG , be a member to such a set up. It undermines the essence of ecomog and the african union standby force that is commanded by a nigerian, which may also be another reason why nigeria would not want to be a part and parcel of this colonial set up. As an african giant that ve intervened in so
many regional conflict it would be painful and foolish if nigeria give up all that to sit and hide under an american set up. Mind you a nigerian commander have always being in charge of most of this african missions. So why should we eat crumbs.
GBAM!!!.. Well said.

Case closed. God bless you sir.

freshness2020: Walk not in ignorance my friends !
The spiritual supersedes the physical.
You don't read the bible like you read any other books!
What I know is that, know the truth and be set free!
What I found out about Africans is that, when it comes to Money and religion , that's is when our five senses pops out to counter!
SMH!!!
Its only natural that when you're pushed to the wall, you fight back.
Africans counter money & religion because our preacher's have matced those two so well & made it inseperable.
African preachers dwell mainly on prosperity gospel, no suprises they are the richest in the world.
I have always faulted their style of over magnifying givings to the church.
Now the truth has been highlighted from the scriptures..I just hope it sets those in its bondage free
