Food / Baci Hilda: Unemployment And The Disgraceful Ado From Nigerians by Father0fjesus: 8:31pm On May 16, 2023
Firstly, I must congratulate Hilda on her achievement and effort, however I must also let it be known that the record she broke is not relevant enough to make frontpage headlines for 4 days in a saner clime.
Don't get me wrong, she did her thing but the clueless Nigerian society blew it outta proportion because entertainment tickles our fancy a lot. We don't know any other thing in this country than entertainment.

Guinness records are broken everyday, in saner societies only the relevant ones make front page. But Nigeria is not very sane, so we don't know what really matters. We have extreme jobless youths that sleep on social media and like internet cruise and maybe they do yahoo in thr night, so they will help you trend any entertainment content you want them to.

But when it comes to records in innovation, education and science, an average Nigerian youth is not interested in that. Something is wrong with the value Fabrics of our society.

You will still see some of them come under the comment section to justify their foolery. After Hilda has broken this and you trend it for one week, so what's next? How does that improve anybody's life?

We have a Nigerian few months who invented the first solid fluid powered engine, but an average Nigerian youth does not trend that one. It doesn't tickle his fancy, he only like unnecessary cruise in entertainment.

Little wonder they cannot even elect good leaders. People who don't even know what they are doing

CharleyBright:

Hmmm.
I sense you are a newly married man who is uncomfortable with some level of familiarity (which u consider as disrespect) coming from your wife.

Firstly, as a man it is important you marry a woman you love and trust as a friend. When u love and trust your partner, there are no boundaries that can be seen as beyond limits or over familiarities.
As a man who has been married for years, I and my wife are very close. We are truly bonded and understand each other to extent that I cant see or say what my wife can do and I start seeing it as over familiarity. Infact we enjoy the over familiarity because we communicate and understand each other enough not to allow certain trivialities ( as u have) to come between us.

To tell you the truth, the reason why u feel this way so much that u are uncomfortable with your wife's perceived over familiarity with you is because there is a disconnect between both of you. That disconnect stems from lack of / or too little communication between both of you.

My advise to both of you is to communicate more often. Be friend who understands each others limits rather than rivals who are competing for supremacy.
Love, tolerance and communication are what sustains marriage.
Cheers
you guys talk like there's only one formula to a good marriage. It's not a one formula thing

My brother, I am going to tell you the simple truth. Marriage is all about tolerating a person's shit for life.

If you no go fit tolerate shit, no marry. You go dey ignore many things and that's what you gonna do until you or her die.
Above all, if everything isn't blown out of proportion, the benefits outweighs the risk.

When it comes to basic/secondary education in Nigeria and overall healthcare system in Nigeria, leave it for Anambra state. No state comes close and I mean it.
I'm talking from experience because I lived in Ogun state, served in rivers state, currently live in Lagos and worked for 3 years in Anambra state. And data available also supports this.

Health and education in anambra state is privately driven with huge support from government. Anambra state themselves don't own too many hospitals and schools, they thrive by investing in the privately owned institutions.

This works because it makes sure that spending becomes transparent. Any little investment you make into these private institutions will yield massive result because of more financial transparency in the private sector than the public domain.

These are some of the initiatives Peter Obi propelled that changed the fortunes of anambra state and Obiano followed suit. The report card is showing the result of their hardwork.

Peter Obi was immune to wastage, he channeled Anambra state little resource to where it mattered. He evaded the bogus budget that will never be implemented and took the little money Anambra has to the right place.

He may not be the savior but for me, he would have cut a lot of nonsense in this country because he will spend our money rightly. He will manage out scrsr resource rightly in no time, we Wil start seeing results. All these bogus spending and budget will not happen under him.

Anambra state was very poor in education and health before Peter Obi become governor. He created a structure that will warrant state government to bypass public sectors that will embezzle most budget money with impunity and then funded schools and hospitals directly. This foundation is what is paying off today. Anambra state is not as wealthy as rivers, Akwa Ibom or Lagos, but you can see thr results of these little investments.

Well, we made out choice and we Will live by it

Well, you can't fight with data. Data is data whether or not you like it.

It's none of my business if this data hurts you alot ad it's not what you expect. There's no state in Nigeria where we can't find malpractice, I grew up in Ogun state and it's huge here as well. But practices cannot give you excellent results, it only makes you pass

Politics / BHCPF: FCT, Enugu And Anambra Are The Best In Primary Health Care Delivery by Father0fjesus: 9:11am On May 05, 2023
Zamfara, Sokoto, 16 others are Nigeriaā€™s worst performing states in primary health care delivery
ā€œFindings from the report also blame Nigeria's deteriorating health care system on the weak governance structures and operational inefficienciesā€

A new report has shown that Zamfara, a North-western state, is Nigeriaā€™s worst performing state in Primary Health Care (PHC) service delivery.

The report titled; ā€œThe State of Primary Healthcare Service Delivery in Nigeria,ā€ shows that Zamfara and 17 other Nigerian states are weak in healthcare service delivery, especially in public facilities.

The other states include Sokoto, Taraba, Kebbi, Katsina, Borno, Yobe, Kogi, Jigawa, Rivers, Gombe, Cross River, Edo, Bayelsa, Akwa-Ibom, Plateau, Imo, and Kaduna.

The research for the report, released recently at an event in Abuja, was carried out by ONE Campaign, in partnership with National Advocates for Health, Nigeria Health Watch, Public and Private Development Centre (PPDC), and other partners.

The report
According to a statement issued by ONE campaign, apart from ranking health system performance across 36 states, the report also provides an in-depth and systemic review of the implementation of the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) and the compliance of the states with the National Health Act and National Health Policy.

The research also includes recommendations for how state governments should strengthen their fragile health systems, enhance the existing implementation of the BHCPF, and raise strategic and operational planning for health in order to promote access to and utilisation of primary healthcare services.

The statement indicates that the reportā€™s findings expose the precarious state of healthcare in Nigeria, where access to and utilisation of health services continues to be marred by systemic challenges across the states.

It also shows that public health facilities in all 36 states and the FCT are deficient, and the experiences of community members seeking health care at public facilities are consistently awful.

Findings from the report also blame Nigeriaā€™s deteriorating health care system on the weak governance structures and operational inefficiencies.

The Managing Director of Nigeria Health Watch, Vivianne Ihekweazu, said the report ā€œhelps us understand where we are, the opportunities and gaps in state-level healthcare delivery.ā€

Ms Ihekweazu said the parties involved are determined to disseminate the findings widely and use them to hold policymakers, especially at the subnational level, accountable for improvements in healthcare delivery for all Nigerians.

Top performing states
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Enugu, and Anambra are some of the top performing states in primary healthcare service delivery, according to the report.

Others are Ekiti, Delta, Abia, Lagos, Nassarawa, Adamawa, Kwara, Benue, Ebonyi, Oyo, Bauchi, Ogun, Ondo, Kano, Niger and Osun states.

Speaking at the launch, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Health, Ibrahim Oloriegbe, noted the need for continuous oversight checks to ensure the BHCPF works for Nigerians.

Mr Oloriegbe said the country has recorded successes at the federal level because of the independence and the interdependence between the executive and the legislative arms of government and because the National Assembly has been able to perform its oversight functions.

Dangote adbanner 728x90_2 (1)
He said this must be replicated across the different state houses of assembly to achieve great success.

Henry Nwawuba, Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Niger Delta; and Edwin Ikhuoria, Executive Director for Africa at The ONE Campaign, during the unveiling of The State of Primary Healthcare Service Delivery in Nigeria report
ā€œIt is also important for citizens to join in this advocacy and call on their state governments to release appropriate funds and ensure adequate monitoring of the funds to improve public health facilities, especially at the primary health centres,ā€ he said.

Mr Oloriegbe said state governments must ensure medical supplies and the required human resources are available in health facilities.

Weak Governance
In his remarks, ONE Campaignā€™s Nigeria Director, Stanley Achonu, said weak governance continues to pose a major obstacle to improved healthcare delivery in the country.

Mr Achonu said this hampers efficiency and effectiveness and results in weak infrastructure, poor user experiences, and poor health outcomes.

He explained that the burden of strengthening the healthcare systems and services lies heavily on governance and leadership.

ā€œAt all levels, the government needs to take responsibility as a building block of the health system, especially in system design, policy guidance, oversight, regulation, accountability, coalition building, monitoring, and enforcement,ā€ he said.

Mr Achonu said the success recorded with polio eradication, containment of Ebola, and the COVID-19 pandemic has shown that Nigeria can deliver on critical health issues given the required political will and leadership commitment.

ā€œWe have to act quickly to avert primary healthcare collapse,ā€ he said.

PHCs are meant to provide services to the majority of people based on need, without geographical, social, or financial barriers.

Unfortunately, only about 20 per cent of PHC facilities across Nigeria are functional. The rest cannot provide essential healthcare services.

PREMIUM TIMES, in a series of reports, showed how some PHCs are faced with a lot of problems, including poor distribution of health workers, poor quality of health care services, poor infrastructure, and lack of supply of essential drugs.

Improved leadership
The Chairman of National Advocates for Health Group, Muhammad Usman, urged the government to provide the required leadership to ensure the improvement of PHCs across the country.

Mr Usman said the federal government must ensure timely release of funds allocated for the BHCPF and effective utilisation of the same at the sub-national level to improve PHC performance nationwide.

About BHCPF
In 2014, the National Health Act established the BHCPF to address funding gaps hampering effective primary health care delivery across the country.

The BHCPF includes one per cent of the federal government Consolidated Revenue Fund (CRF) and additional contributions from other funding sources.

It is designed to support the effective delivery of PHC services, provision of a Basic Minimum Package of Health Services (BMPHS), and Emergency Medical Treatment (EMT) to all Nigerians.
