Grammar school is a system where the best students that pass 11 plus exams, are admitted into Grammar Schools.

Grammar schools are the next best thing to private secondary schools. Standards are very high, discipline is very high etc etc etc

And the beauty of it all, it's free............. Uniforms and materials are not cheap, but it's a better trade off......

Great. Duly noted. Need to start coaching the little ones to be brilliant be dt.

Hello guys. Happy holidays. Still trying to find our bearing and settle in, seems living in a country like this requires lots of paper works and online research. It can be exciting but tiring.

I have been hearing quite often now on ow rent money is dead money and getting mortgage as quick as possile is the best, so opinions and suggestions on how to go about this, and getting the best deals because all the accounting terms have been dealt with its just flying over my head biko sad

Something funny I just remembered:

Lagos airport the guy at the counter helped with my box for it to be weighed and tagged and actually asked for tips and told him I didn't have change. He even went further to offer to fill my immigration card and I was like durrrh... no be my details u wan put there.

Train from high wycombe to birmingham
Immediately the guy saw me with a baby strapped on and luggage he told me to wait once the train comes for him to help me on the train then the amazing thing happened, as I disembarked the train another security guy approached me that he was notified that I would be needing assistance from the other station.

I was shook kiss. Just kept saying thank you and at a point I was sounding odd

Both are being paid but one doesn't ask for bribe to render assistance.

On opening account, seems to be quite challenging for me because we are yet to settle and proof of address is key, so in my research for better banks friendly to immigrants I stumbled on one called Monese.

Pls anyone ever heard of them or use them? Seems attractive though, easy to open from your phone et al but you need a monthly sub fees of about 5 pounds.

Oya my UK pple come answer ooo before i enter one chance

Another Tip for picking up BRP,

If you have a minor and your name isnt on the vignette provided, you will need to be nominated to pick up via email.

However, if its a family pick up that wont be necessary.
Though I applied for mine and it was approved after 5 days, but on getting there I learnt it was not necessary.

P.S the BRP now comes with the NI number so no need to apply again. Thats what is called constant review of processes. (Its still shacking me ni smiley

Planning a trip in the UK is one of the easiest things u can do online. Starting from booking your train via trainline.com ( you can search with your postcode to know closest station)

Book your hotel in advance on booking.com at no cost except with ur card details.

Don't travel with much luggage because transiting from one train to another can be quite tough.

Though I was lucky I got people to assist me for the most part but it wasn't easy.

People were ready to assist me and eager to do so when I asked questions because you don't want to miss your stop.

Travel with easy to feed babies food to make it easy at any point.

Research your mode of transportation well because cabs here are pretty expensive. A trip of 5mins cost as much as 5pounds

A big kudos to the UK transportation system, it is lit

As usual in this winter time for money grin I booked medview airline due to obvious reason like short period of flight and ofcourse affordable.

Review of the flight:
A. Changes was communicated early via mail from 1.30pm to 11.30am cos of winter, only for us to check in and all and we didn't take off until 1.15pm. Rightly pissed off embarassed

B. No bassinet for baby, infact no provisions at all the hostess had to ask me if they knew I was bringing a bay on board after I was charged for him. Mscheww

C. In flight entertainment and charging port made the trip easy but not much movies at least let's manage them for now. They are getting dre.

D. Food was alright got jollof rice, chicken, bread, tea, juice etc and even gave us another pack for snacks close to the end of the trip.

E. Smooth flight and good landing overall I will rate dem 60 taking into consideration d hours and money.

Tips:
1. Always book ur flight early to avoid high cost it's not going to be cheaper
2. Prepare your documents well and know ur rights and what you need on any particular trip. one lady at d check in counter wanted to collect bribe because I have a different surname from my baby and thought I won't have the birth certificate handy
3. Prepare for d cold by getting stuffs from naija well well or else d cold will grab u in ways u never experred.

More will be added as I remember

NL has been interesting for years. Damn! Just stumbled on this link. So hilarious when people can be so blinded with the lies despite all numerous attempt to wake dem up for there gullible slumber.

One of the major reasons why we are still behind in this century is because majority are educated illiterates and the sad part is the scam still continues in different format till today with all this "agent" schemes here and there.

Good job to justwise and all dt has been preventing some wise ones from falling victims for a long time.

No be small work.

Lol, ielts is now breaking pples back oo with 0.5 difference, and to an extent that pple even challenge there result and get an higher score.

The challenge is the specific board requirement. However it's still easy to pass but pls don't underestimate it as an English exam. Prepare hard and know the tactics !!!

All the best.

claremont:
A friend of mine did the PLAB exams ages ago, and he is currently working as an A and E locum doctor in the NHS. He gets paid £500-£600 per day shift. I will advice you to focus on passing your PLAB and getting your UK licence to practice, the UK needs doctors and pays well. I didn't study medicine, but I also had to pass the ielts exams in order to undertake my conversion. It's easy to smash it, and I'm yet to meet any Nigerian who studied any of the medical sciences struggle to pass ielts. Ielts exam is nothing compared to what we went through in Nigeria burning the midnight oil in university.

Good luck.

@OP permit to derail slightly. Thank you grin

@Twoods, I would have let this slide but for posterity sake I need to comment.

I really do not appreciate being quoted in such a manner and I think the post i even referred to as been deleted otherwise I would have shown you a more detailed analysis.

If you understand my post very well, you will see i was trying to offer the best immigration route for someone dt said He/She has a masters degree from the UK and relatively young.

So addressing your message to me is not fair and merited and your last part of shame is not tasteful. Do not be quick to judge and erode the major message of my post.

N.B:- a quick search of my moniker will show you that I do not in any way support fraud.

Thank you.

TWoods:
No, just no. Lionlee gave options on how to cheat and circumvent US law. The only reason the US is what it is today is because citizens obey the law to the letter... your country is what it is today because you think laws should not apply to you. Shame.
