TIPS!

1. Do not present documents except you’re specifically asked by the VO. Presenting documents you’re not asked is a sign of desperation.
2. Avoid talking too much and stick to the questions being asked. E.g who will be sponsoring your trip? “My assistantship/ scholarship will be covering x-amount and my parents/me/uncle/company will cover the deficit.

Do not start rambling about how much your parents or uncle makes or what they do or where they work except you are specifically asked. Going further to spew such information is a clear sign of desperation.

3. Don’t sound robotic or like someone who crammed the answer to all the questions.
4. Maintain eye contact and answer questions in a succinct concise way.
5. If you are anxious or have anxiety during interview. Coping skill you can use is to hold firm to a pen or key or anything you can fit in your palm.
6. Avoid talking too much at the venue, it would drain you out. A lot of people are filled with negative news that would throw you off.
7. Go through a lot of interview transcripts and craft a compelling concise response to likely interview questions.
8. Be brave and don’t let anything move you or build fear in you. There is nothing extra ordinary about visa officers.

Go and secure your visa. If you don’t make it at first try, go again.

If you have your money you should be fine. Before you applied to the school you know it is a private school located in one of the most expensive cities in America. Not like you’re oblivious of these facts.

If you have proof of funds and you can prove to the visa officer that you are a genuine student who wants to go to America and study and return back to Nigeria after studies you should be fine.

I know most school do not refund the $250 deposit just like MBA program for Georgia State University.

In addition to what others have said, make sure you find out whether your J1 visa will come with or without a two-year home requirement. If it comes with a two-year home requirement, ask your sponsor now (presumably WUSTL) if they are willing to waive this requirement when you apply for a J1 waiver (that is if that is what you want to do later) at the end of your exchange program.

All these back-and-forth insults are unnecessary. It should our prayer that everyone succeeds in this U.S Japa struggle. No need wishing bad on others. Just drop your advice. If the person doesn't heed to the advice and goes ahead to blow their money for visa interview, then it's their choice. I will still wish Mjosh success in his interview even with the $63k deficit (all backed by Mpower loan) and hope he somehow scales through despite the odds against him. If he fails, then he'll learn from his experience and know better to be more realistic/objective next time.

The embassy is tight now. To even get an appointment date is even harder than getting a visa.

Visa approval rate has dropped drastically. The onus lies on him to go and prove himself. But I am very sure he would be denied. It is not a prayer, it is a statement of fact.

These schools will require you to evaluate your transcripts.

Fitchburg state University MBA program full tuition is $13,400 or so for the full program.

University of North Alabama as well.

I got accepted into Weatherhead school of management for MBA and have 34k scholarships. From my calculations I will have a deficit of 32k… do you think it’s an okay deficit for visa purposes? I can afford to pay the 32k even before an I-20 is issued but my challenge is that the visa officer might see that as a red flag (desperation). I have been advised to do study loan but I have read people are also getting rejected with that. Something else is that I was denied visa April last year to study MBA in university of New Haven and my deficit then was even 18k. Your kind advice will be appreciated as I really do not want to waste my time for another rejection.

There are schools in the U.S. you can get MBA for $14,000 for the full program and also $19,000 for the full program.

Why don’t want to go to a school you cannot afford?

And my sponsor has agreed to pay me $44000 annually. Presently my form ds 2019 is in process.
I want to know if one can live a comfortable life on about $3600 monthly salary in Missouri?

And is the financial support okay for me to get a visa without showing extra funding from my end?

St. Louis is not that expensive city to live. I think you should be fine with shared apartments on or off campus.

Are you paying for the exchange program? How much is the fees? Are you going on J-1 visa? Or F-1. J-1 is for exchange program, so I’ll guess it’s J-1.

The amount you have a proof of funds is good. I don’t think you have an issue. Make sure that sponsor is not in the US.

You do not have to email. Let me give you a good advise.

Go for your interview alone. When you’re in the U.S., you can book your wife’s appointment for December so it would look like she is coming to spend the Christmas with you.

You can’t be using the funding given to you as a bandwidth to extend to family. Your funding is not guaranteed as there are requirements you have to meet to keep it. Programs lose funding as well, although rarely, but it happens.

On my New Student Information Form (the form is to be used to generate my i-20), I've an excess of $9564 of funding. Meanwhile, POF per dependant for my school is $7k. I've the opportunity to use my excess funding to sponsor a dependant and I'm thinking of including my wife as a dependant on F2 visa.

My fear, however is that I've three children and a foster daughter. They are not going with us, atleast for now.

From my own small knowledge o giving a false information may affect your visa process, just wait till you get the right proof of funds sorted and apply for your I-20 so unnecessary issues won't arise in future

It is not false information. There is no rule that states that.

I used a different sponsor to get my i-20 and a used a different sponsor for my interview. You can have more than one sponsor.

I have been unable to apply for Form I-20 because I am still solving my proof of funds problem with my employer. I'm not sure how long this will take. But I'll like to apply for Form I-20 as soon as possible.

Can I apply for Form I-20 with a proof of funds that is different from the one I will eventually use to apply for a student visa?

To rephrase: must the proof of funds I present to the school for Form I-20 be the same as the one I present to the embassy?

Yes you can. It must not be the same. You can present a different sponsor to collect your i-20 and a different sponsor for visa.

I don't think your mother needs any documentation from you to be able to get her visa. But I would advise that you send her your I-20 and intent to graduate form if you have it.

Like i said, initially i was hoping to get a scholarship offer, but since it didn't come through and the tuition fee in Sweden was too high that was why i declined the offers in Sweden.

Then regarding my opting for the BSc nursing in the US, is because the tuition fee is RELATIVELY affordable for my sponsor (MY BROTHER)

Thirdly, the goal is not to japa but to earn a degree that is immediately relevant in the shortest possible time.

I can always continue with an Msc later if I choose to.

I am not working with an agent. I have been doing all this by myself and that is why i am here seeking more enlightenment.

You are a pathetic liar. Accelerated BSN is more expensive than a regular BSN and schools in Sweden are relatively cheaper than schools in US.

Nursing credit in Oakland state starts at >$700 per credit for non-resident = >$2100 per class.

I am not here to massage your lying ego. What is relatively cheap to someone who cannot afford a masters degree in Sweden but willing to pay >$25,000 for a BSN.

1. You scaled through being labelled a correspondence degree (NOUN) holder by a reputable University in the USA and got admitted to full MSc Public health and decline
it for a lesser course of study .

2. Why are you in a haste ? Do you want to disappear and appear in the USA just like that ? Accelerated nursing programs allow you to earn a BSN degree quickly and you thought the University might decline your Public Health and went for the lesser one .

3. My friend , no matter how far you have gone on a wrong way turn back now . If it's possible change back to Public Health . It's not about just receiving form I 20 and memorize possible answers to questions .

4. MSc Public Health is your way . Scholarship is not 100% compulsory for MSc applicants if your family can show the embassy that they will fund your study . Don't go there and waste your SEVIS fee and MRV in a twinkle of an eye.

FOR CONTEXT -
I graduated from the national open university of Nigeria with a 3.52 CGPA - Bsc Environmental science and resource mgmt. in 2016 and i have been a private home tutor since then. Although i have tried other businesses over the years as well.

i initially intended to apply for Msc in public health, which i did and i got admitted into 2 universities in Sweden, but because i didn't get a scholarship offers, i declined the admission offers and started seeking for admissions in the US AND Canada, also with hopes of getting a scholarship.

Long story short, i came across a Twitter(X) thread about Universities in the US with tuition waivers and that's how I heard about OAKLAND STATE UNIVERSITY, MI.

I applied and got admission for MSC PUBLIC HEALTH, but while waiting for my I-20 to be sent to me, i was going through the university's undergrad courses and realized there is a NURSING COURSE called ACCELERATED SECOND DEGREE BSN, 15MONTHS duration and which am qualified to apply for, so long as i have a Bsc in a science related field already. So, i applied and also got admitted.

The university then contacted me asking me which course i would want to carry on with because i cannot be admitted to both the Graduate and Undergraduate school. i told them i want to go for the Accelerated Bsn course at the undergraduate school. I was supposed to resume this summer on 2nd of May but because of a late visa interview date i had to defer to the Fall semester.

Now to my question, during the interview, when asked what i have been doing since my first degree and also if asked why i am switching to Nursing, how do i go about that? Also, when asked about my career goals after the nursing school how do i go about that?

P.S - I am the lastborn of four siblings and my elder brother who works in an international oil company is my sponsor.

I doubt that you got an MS PH admission.

You have a 90% chance of being denied with that bachelors degree you are going for.

1. You’re looking for scholarship and you are going for a program that offers no reasonable scholarship and is expensive. Where do you want to get the money to fund the program? Like make it make sense. You turned down masters admission in Sweden because it came with no funding, but you are going for a BS program in US with no funding. You must think people are potato head on here.

2. The agent that is pushing you will land you in so many denial.

I'm having an issue currently. I used 3 lecturers as my recommenders. Currently 2 of them has been helpful by sending their recommendations, but the last person is showing nonchallant attitude. I don't know if I can remove him and use a friend as my 3rd recommender.

Also can anyone please share with my an example or template of a recommendation letter for admission?

Remove him and use someone else. Go to your application page and change it.

You don’t have to use 3 academic reference. You can use one from your supervisor.
