Chanbaby: thanks dear for ur prompt response My final destination is houston but the agent adviced I enter from jfk to avoid houston poe wahala. Then hubby is concern about the flight duration for going and coming with a baby on Turkish air. I went and came bak wit baby + toddler too so that's not a big deal. You will have a bassinet for baby. Truth is baby will be asleep most of the times and the flight pressure hs little or no effect on them. Ensure to put d baby to breast during take off and landing. I've flown with newborns twice of 2 and 3wks respectively. |

Chanbaby: Pls my own family I have come again with my ticket wahala. Pls help me put this two airline in a scale of preference (turkish and ArikAirline). Considering the waiting time, the flight duration, adding infant ticket and comfort for preggy woman and also comfort for baby on the return leg. The agent said if I go with Arik she will refund us some money. Pls I need to make a decision cos hubby has given me within now and tomorrow to decide. Pls help me. I would advise Turkish. Arik does not have inflight entertainment and if NY is not ur final destination, then you av to consider hotel and local flight. Turkish will take you to your final destination. Don't stress about infant ticket, you can do dat at the airport. |

loistee: My dear sis I love ur reply exclusive is not a do or die affair. My hubby is a medical doctor and I don't do exclusive pole just over flog did exclusive of a thing. Is as if na me and u dey stay i give formula 3 times a day and breastfeed in between. Pls d only thing I want to clarify is how often should I give water. And also my boy takes like 180ml is too much he is just 3 month. My dear, I don't give room for anybody that feels his/her advise is wat I must follow. There is no competition in parenthood. Do what works for you and helps you maintain your sanity. For water, I don't have any particular time bt most times I check wen she's thirsty. How I know is that her spit becomes thick so I offer water. 180mls at 3mths is ok. Attached is a feeding guide from aptamil that I follow

comtem2011: Don't mind them, so those babies that lost their mother during child birth should not eat or they will bury them with their mother for EBF.
I tire for people's opinion over someone else baby as if they love him/her more than the mother. Aproko pple everywia o as if they love your baby more than you...lol |

sugarcanebaby: My able captain fedd..y27 how are you and baby Fedora. Tell her my olaolu says hi.
I'm currently doing mixed feeding ie breastfeeding and formula because I wasn't producing enough milk at first and then my son eats a lot,. He can suck for hours and still won't get filled so I augment with formula. Sometimes I feel bad or less of a mother that I didnt do exclusive breast feeding. So my question is how do I combine the two to achieve maximum input? I would also like if mothers who have done or are doing mixed feeding like me to share their experience with first time moms like me. My darling teamie, good to hear from you. Fedora is fine, my love to olaolu. Sweetie, don't beat urself or feel less of a mother cos of EBF. I'm also doin mixed feeding and dat has been my decision for both babies. There is no medal for EBF! For combination, I feed formula at least 3xs a day. In the morning, after bathtime I give formula so she can sleep for long. Inbetween it's breastfeeding. Around 2-3, I give formula again, inbetween breastfeeding. Around 8-9pm b4 bedtime, I give formula. All tru the night, I do breastfeeding. The important thing is that baby is well fed. |

Good morning mamas!
Just thought to share this and emphasise on the importance of immunizations.
I went to a shop 2days ago and the owner told me hw she lost her infant to tuberculosis. After birth, he had not received the BCG yet and they went home. Someone with tuberculosis came visiting and carried the child. She didn't know the person had tuberculosis. That was where trouble started for her baby. He eventually died.
Hubby's friend and wife came visiting and she was narrating how they have been in and out of hospital treating their infant of pneumonia. I simply asked if he was given the pneumococcal vaccine, she said no.
My neighbour's toddler had chicken pox. 2wks now and they are still battling with it. The child is extremely sick now. I asked if she received the 2 doses of chicken pox vaccine, they said no. My son also had chicken pox early this year but then he had taken 1st dose of vaccine but was not old enough for 2nd dose. The effect was very mild with no single scars left on his body.
Lessons learnt: 1. Immunizations are very important for children.
2. Don't try to cut cost and leave out the important ones not given free of charge eg Rota, Pneumococcal, IPV, etc. It is cheaper to prevent an illness than to treat it. Besides, the stress of managing a sick child is something else. My son is 19 months old, he has never had any episode of stooling and vomiting. Even teething never gave issues, we wake up and find a new tooth.
3. The life of these children are worth more than any money we are saving. Be Wise! |

valeriechima: Hello mamas, My baby has not been given the BIG vaccine and he is two months now....he was born in the US. Is it still necessary to have the vaccine. BCG you mean. Yes, it's necessary. Let him take it. That should be the first thing to do once you arrive in naija b4 people start carrying him. |

Chanbaby, your agent is trying to play a fast one by telling you lies!
I used Turkish. The airline can't work on a ticket you bought frm an agent until you've used one leg of the ticket.
As for infant ticket, don't sweat it. You can pay at the airport. Bought my baby's own for $79 tho' I paid in naira to their abuja office. The lady in front of me during check in paid at the counter there. |

Favouredmom: I don't know who this question might help so I'll just ask. Experienced mums that had a Vaginal birth, please can you explain the technique of how to push out a baby during delivery. I've read many birth stories where women said they couldn't push properly. It might help some of the FTMs here. Thanks
Cc alphahand.,maiden, ozyc..y, feddy..27 There is really no 'exact' way of doing it. Normally you are told to hold ur knees, look towards your navel and push with the contraction. The success of vaginal birth is achieved when you listen to ur medical team and follow instructions. Stop when asked to, push wen told to. Dats the way to achieve success else you would end up with bad tears |

AbbynHummy: He'll be 2yrs by december Ok. Easy does it! You have to be patient. Get a fanciful potty like the one attached (dats more of a urinal, u can get a fancy potty lik dat), reward him each time he uses the potty. Also, continue wit ur diapers wen needed else ur house will always av urine odor. If u ask me, I would say continue with pull ups at night instead of waking up often to help use the bathroom. Dats too much work for a pregnant mom.
