In fulfilment of his pledge to the Super Eagles in Johannesburg, South Africa on Monday, Dr Mike Adenuga Jr, (GCON), chairman, Globacom Limited, on Tuesday night in Abuja presented a cheque for N160 million to the Super Eagles for winning the 29th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations. The event was held at the Banquet Hall of Dr Mike Adenuga’s residence in Maitama, Abuja. Dr Adenuga also announced that a Range Rover SUV and a Toyota Camry car will be presented to the chief coach, Stephen Keshi in addition to paying for his official accommodation. He commended Keshi for his commitment, adding that, “he has done the nation proud, that is why it is important to reward him.” Speaking at the occasion, Dr Adenuga said “we are indeed proud of the achievement of the Nigerian national team at the Africa Cup of Nations. I congratulate the chief coach, Stephen Keshi, the rest of the coaching crew, the players, the Nigeria Football Federation and the Federal Government for this important victory which has rekindled hope among our people.” The Globacom chairman subsequently presented the cheque for N160 million, the equivalent of the sum of $1million he promised the team, to Eagles captain, Joseph Yobo. Responding to Dr Adenuga’s gesture, Yobo said: “I want to thank you very much on behalf of the team. You made a pledge to us just on Monday morning and here we are on Tuesday night for the redemption of the pledge. We thank you for everything you’ve done for Nigerian football; we thank you for being the number one supporter of the Super Eagles. This financial support you have given to us will go a long way to motivate us.” Speaking at the occasion, Alhaji Aminu Maigari, President of the NFF, thanked Dr Adenuga for the money and the cars. He said: “On behalf of the Nigerian football family, I want to thank you most sincerely. This relationship between Globacom and Nigerian football will endure for a long time. You have been very supportive of Nigerian football over the years, sponsoring the league and the national teams.” The elated Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi, thanked Dr. Adenuga for his support for football across Africa, adding that Super Eagles have henceforth become Dr Adenuga ‘s children because of all the massive support he has given Nigerian football. Keshi stated further: “When Abiola was alive, he was the one giving the national team massive support, Dr Adenuga has stepped into that role and we will not disappoint him.” Marketing Consultant to the NFF and chairman of Pamodzi, Mike Itemuagbor, thanked the Globacom chairman for consistently supporting Nigerian football for the past 10 years. He said that Globacom had within the period spent over N9 billion in cash and kind to support the development of Nigerian football. Meanwhile, Henry Nwosu, a former captain of the defunct Green Eagles has expressed excitement that Stephen Keshi, the Super Eagles head coach reversed his decision to resign from the position. Nwosu told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) by phone in Lagos that Keshi had a lot to offer and that it was not the right time to tender resignation. “I am so excited and filled with joy that Keshi had a rethink. He still has a lot to offer and resignation should not come in now. “His purported resignation came in as a shock to me and the country because we were all in joyful mood and were not expecting that at all,” Nwosu said. He said that Keshi was a former player that had coached some African countries and has the experience to know what it entailed to coach his country. “I believe strongly in him and his ability to revamp the Super Eagles because he was a former player and had also coached some other countries,” he said. Keshi coached Togo from 2004 to 2006 and Mali from 2008 to 2010 before being hired for the Eagles. “I hope by rescinding the decision, this will help to strengthen his relationship with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for the good of football in the country.” Nwosu said that Keshi had done his best and deserved to be respected for his achievements. The Super Eagles will represent Africa at the FIFA Confederations Cup to be staged from June 15 to June 30 in Brazil. http://odili.net/news/source/2013/feb/14/623.html |
More men are becoming silly wimp these days. How come a good looking, comfortable young man would "beg" for love from one random, plain female. *shriek in horror!* when there are females of all bodily dimensions yearning to have a piece of him. Smh in disbelieve. |
How convenient. Pull the press back so no one can watch, the cabin “mysteriously” burns, and a dramatic single gunshot is heard. Pretty much as expected, cop killers rarely get brought in alive. We are never going to find out what really went on at that cabin or in the events leading up to Dorner’s rampage. Bringing him in alive would probably have brought damaging information to light on the LAPD and they were not going to let that happen. Now that justice has been served, how about the innocent people that got shot by the police during the manhunt? Do you think we will ever hear anything else about them? |
Nice pics guy! |
THE Nigerian Army Engineers (NAE), last week, witnessed a change of command as new Corps Commander; Major General Funsho Owonibi took over from the former commander, Major General Adebayo Olaniyi.. http://odili.net/news/source/2013/feb/9/1.html |

BEIRUT (AP) — Syria and Iran have threatened to retaliate for an Israeli air raid near the capital Damascus. Syrian Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Abdul-Karim Ali says Damascus has "the option and the surprise to retaliate." He said he cannot predict when the retaliation will be, saying it is up to relevant authorities to prepare for it. In Iran, the semi-official Fars news agency quoted Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian on Thursday as saying the raid on Syria will have significant implications for the Israeli city of Tel Aviv. U.S. officials said Israel launched a rare airstrike inside Syria on Wednesday, targeting a convoy believed to contain anti-aircraft weapons bound for Hezbollah. The Syrian military denied the existence of any such shipment and said a scientific research facility outside Damascus was hit. |
lacasa: The mods can hide my post all they want, but the fact is the inyamiri are like the *gog and magog* of our time. This got me laughing real heard.... Listen to yourself and see how your comment reeks of idiocy. Talk about backwardness and backward people, talk of about your folks. Northern almanjiri! |
Balderdash!!! Why is it that when the Hausa-Fulani are in Power they appoint their kinsmen to head sensitive military positions, but nobody dares complain. Now a South south man is in power and he appoints and approve who ever he seems fit and trusted, and some disgruntle element are whining. Who ever thinks/ believes appointment in Nigerian civil service or military in based on merit is on a very long thing. |
Hmmm...i see why Boko haram are calling for cease fire of recent. |
I think this is worst Eagles ever assembled by any coach. I wish they can prove me wrong though with our next game with the Ivory Coast. What i saw yesterday was an eye sore of a match, i wish I'll never gonna witness such a match again. The players lack commitment, zeal, passion, the match was devoid of tactical nous. It was as if nothing was at stake. |
We really need one, cuz Keshi lacked tactical nous to take us further in this Afcon. It will be a miracle if we get past the Ivory Coast. |
https://www.nairaland.com/1178146/nigeria-eyes-foreign-coach Nairalanders this is just in, leave your comments. This is worst assembled Eagles i have ever seen. |
NFF should look for a good world class foriegn coach after this tornament or should better call back Samson Siasia to take over from this Keshi who doesn't know anything about coaching, because he eventually qualify Togo for world cup everybody thinks that he is a good coach, can you imagine you are going to tornament without reliable right back and ask Efe Ambrose to play in that position. |
