No wonder children are not interested in going to schools anymore if there is no basic apparatus for learning.
Where are the all the budget for education going - national, state and local?

Yet some people will be prepared to blame the opposition for the picture. SMH

@Op..you're doing a good job highlighting a number of issues with us Nigerians.
Please keep it up...we need a champion like you and don't let anyone stop you.
As simple common sense is not common among us Nigerians.
We tend to misbehave as we're the only ones travelling - too much 'notice me syndrome'
And their children are always unruly, shouting on top of their voices.

Why can't we be like other cultures - Arabs, Chinese, Indians - they are more cultured and definetely richer than us in spending power.

Reasons why I don't visit certain shops and outlets in Houston during summer holidays.
I prefer to do a 3-hour journey to San Marcos Outlets and other places outside H-town for my shopping.
Christianity EtcNews: Burundi Law To Limit Church Numbers by feedthenation(op): 2:10pm On Jul 10, 2014
Burundi's lower house of parliament has passed a bill intended to curb the country's "proliferation of churches".
A government survey last year found there were 557 denominations practising in the small Central African state.
New regulations would require churches to have at least 500 members and a proper building.
Evangelical churches mushroomed during and after the long ethnic-based civil war, which officially ended in 2005 after some 300,000 people had died.
The BBC's Prime Ndikumagenge in the capital, Bujumbura, says the bill received the unanimous support of MPs in the National Assembly and is unlikely to face much opposition in the Senate.
If no changes are made to the draft legislation, it must be signed by the president within 30 days or sent back to parliament for a second reading.
Once signed into law, churches would have a year to comply with the new regulations.
For a foreign church to be allowed to register, it would have to show that it had 1,000 followers.

Abuse scandals
Our correspondent says it is common to see makeshift tents where worshippers gather by the side of the road on Sundays.
Anyone can set themselves up as a preacher and there have been a few scandals over the years involving some of the smaller churches, he says
Some preachers have been accused of manipulating or abusing their followers.
One reported case involved a preacher who said that barren women wanting to conceive should sleep with him.
Most of Burundi's nine million inhabitants are Christian, and some also follow traditional beliefs.
During the parliamentary debate on Wednesday, MP Jean Minani asked for those following these animist beliefs to be given the right to worship as they wanted.
Animist worshippers pray and perform rituals in the open to communicate with their ancestors or their god Imana.
But Interior Minister Edouard Nduwimana dismissed such practices as "backward".
President Pierre Nkurunziza - a former rebel who was first elected president in 2005 - is a born-again Christian and his wife is a preacher in an evangelical church.

shymexx: Stop chatting shyte. Canary Wharf is where all the naija fraudsters live now...and he more or less killed himself by spamming useless pictures everywhere, trying to show he has arrived, when he has no source of income. Unemployed - yet he lives in Canary Wharf - how does he pay his rent? And don't tell me the council gave him that flat.

Asians make millions off fraud, but you never see them make noise. Ditto Eastern Europeans. And when they buy flashy things, they always make sure they have a thriving legit business for cover-up. Go to west midlands, and see young Asian boys driving Ferrari's, Rolls Royce, Bentleys etc. everywhere. But they all have legit businesses for cover-up. You don't see them in Canary Wharf like the lousy Nigerians.

I was at Mile-End/Epping on Monday evening, and you need to come see what these Asian guys are pushing on the roads this summer. But most of them have companies, and businesses - paying taxes. And I'm darn sure those businesses/companies didn't buy those cars because the average Asian is a fraudster.
Correct words...the Asians are the biggest fraudsters in UK..they are well-coded and keep a low profile.

PoliticsOsun Election: Jonathan, Oyinlola In Closed-door Meeting by feedthenation(op): 5:31pm On Jul 01, 2014
“All I am telling is that Oyinlola in the face of the law remains the authentic secretary of the PDP.”

Perhaps buoyed by its performance in the Ekiti governorship election, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has begun moves to resolve the crisis in its Osun chapter with a view to winning the coming governorship election in the state.

As part of the strategy, President Goodluck Jonathan on ‎Tuesday held a closed-door meeting with a former Osun State governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Although the agenda of the meeting was not disclosed, PREMIUM TIMES learnt that it is part of efforts by Nigeria’s ruling PDP to win the August 9 governorship election in Osun.

The PDP’s candidate in the election, Iyiola‎ Omisore, is the major challenger to the incumbent governor, Rauf Aregbesola, of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Mr. Oyinlola was accompanied to Tuesday’s meeting by the National Chairman of the PDP, Adamu Muazu.

The former governor, who was controversially removed as National Secretary of the PDP, and is challenging his removal and eventual replacement in court, is believed to wield a major influence in Osun.

Mr. Oyinlola was a member of the New PDP which was formed when some PDP governors fell out with the former party chairman, Bamanga Tukur.

When the New PDP eventually merged with the APC, Mr. Oyinlola decided to remain in the PDP but to fight for his position.

Mr. Oyinlola, a known loyalist of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, is believed to have also been courted by the incumbent Osun governor.

While addressing journalists after Tuesday’s meeting, the Okuku-born politician and retired Brigadier General would not disclose details of his discussion with Mr. Jonathan, but said he was determined to reclaim his position as National Secretary of the PDP.

‎He said anyone occupying the office of the Secretary of the PDP is a pretender.

Mr. Oyinlola had after a PDP meeting on Monday said he was a rallying point to record victory for the party during the Osun governorship election and the 2015 general election.

“I was taken to the villa by the chairman of the party PDP, and we had some discussions as to how to move the fortunes of the party forward,” he said on Tuesday.

“All I am telling is that Oyinlola in the face of the law remains the authentic secretary of the PDP. Anybody in that office for now, is a pretender.”

I know eventually GEJ will start to beg all those people he has annoyed previously, next is OBJ.

FamilyRe: Love Or Submission...which Should Come First In Marriage? by feedthenation(m): 4:04pm On Jun 30, 2014
Crystalline: A man says...I don't love my wife because she is not submissive perhaps if she were submissive, i'd have loved her.

A woman says...I am not submissive to my husband because he doesn't love me, if he had shown me love, i'd have been submissive.

Ephesians 5:22...wives be submissive to your husbands as unto the LORD

Ephesians 5:25...husbands love your wives just as CHRIST loves the church.

Now my question is "which should come first...LOVE or SUBMISSION?"

Your honest views are welcome.
Male headship is a very controversial issue in our modern society, this can be for the following reasons:

1. We don't understand the concept of servant-leadership;
2. We don't like patriachial societies because of our modern ways of valuing the worth of the individual;
3. We're confused by the bible's paradoxical way of asserting male headship in some passages and equality in others.

In relation to your question, male headship should address a kind of leadership which serves the needs of others in a self-giving way.
Our modern society rejects authority, yet seeks power.

The husband is to act in sacrificial, self-giving love toward his wife, who then voluntarily submit, just as the example set by Jesus of true headship in relationship to the church and true servanthood (submission) to God the Father.

The husband should at all times set the spiritual atmosphere inthe home by continuing to love his wife as Christ loved the church. This was a radically positive statement in its day, but unfortunately in our day the whole passage seems negative because it reflects the theological concept of male headship in home (Gen 3.16; 1Cor 11.3; 2 Tim 2.13). However, christian husbands are servant-leaders, not bosses.
