A very commendable gesture from a quality player, as against bunch of mercenaries known as the 'super chickens'. |
To some Nigerians, the negative effect of backward educational systems have deluded them the ability to reason in a normal. Every political party in Nigeria should be tasked on what their political ideologies and manifestos are, unfortunately they don't have any. Our citizens are more concerned about fighting each other instead of engaging in a proper analysis of our democracy which offers solid accountability across the country. We don't have democracy in Nigeria at all, it's all about 3-square meals. |
I only hope that the re-bound of this boomerang effect does not affect us all in the future. A very bad precedent in democracy is being played out there in some states which is not encouraging. OBJ did his worst for eight years, where is he today in the grand scheme of things in Nigeria? Yes GEJ have every right under the sun to contest in 2015, but let there be a level playing field and not one skewed massively to the ruling party. |
torkaka: You do know that fedora hat man is not going to be president forever? And you do know that those you hate so much (hausa/fulani) will one day be president again?Exactly my thoughts!!! |
brownlords: Nonsense is it a southerner that will made governor? Why are you not asking if nyako is really guilty of the accusation before pointing at Jonathan? GEJ cronies in deedWhy are impeachment proceedings happening in APC controlled states - what about PDP states of Jigawa, Kaduna, Plateau, Akwa Ibom, Benue and Kogi where security of lives is at all time low and where their governors are in breach of massive fund misappropriation. Is it because they are pally of GEJ that they are not troubled? Nyako has stepped on some powerful toes in Adamawa state and he is being punished by GEJ and his cronies. Politics is also only a game where there will be winners and losers. Yes it's all about politics of 2015 and beyond. It's GEJ's turn to be winning, but ceteris paribus, that winning cannot continue forever... Watch this space, the chickens are definetely coming home to roost. |
With all the noises from the political parties - PDP and APC - what meaningful developments have we experienced since 2010 when GEJ has been in government? Let us be truthful to overselves. |
If Nyako and his deputy are impeached for mis-appropriation of funds, then they should be investigated and charged by EFCC. It's begger's belief that some states with PDP governors who are known to be wasting public funds on useless projects are not been impeached. This divide and rule mentality will not work in the long run. GEJ will continue until 2019 and then what.... |
youngmonie: hmmm... Nigerians dnt see the future, remember whether now or 20 years time an hausa man will still be president of this country whether we like it or not. GEJ is laying a bad precedent, it can suit us now , we are ok with it and shouting they should impeach all of them, but when that time comes...............................Exactly my thoughts, GEJ and his cronies are setting a very bad precedent which will surely come back with bigger repercussion. I only feel sorry for those who will be affected then, the northerns are good student of politics and they will surely use it well when its their turn. I hope nobody will complain then. |
What about the powerful messages for married women? |
simplynola: Fools, all those agberos that call themselves lawmakers, no principle, no discipline. All they know is how to share money, nothing tangible they can lay hands on that they've done for their constituencies. The governor is there trying to bring about development and investment to the state but because they are not getting to chop from the lean state funds with their grandmaster Osoba the thief that can never account for any good thing he did when he was governor throughout the military and civilian era. Thats why Nigeria is going backward everyday. Foolish people altogether.True talk. There is no democracy in this country. What will happen if they are voted out in the next election under PDP? Politicians with no principles or ideologies. |
simplynola: .It is obvious that our politicians speak with two sides of their mouth, they can never be trusted at all. They don't have any iota of political ideology what-so-ever, sad. No wonder our so-called democracy is just a mirage. |
This is a serious matter. But when the news first broke out, the information from the Army was that there was no mutiny from the soldiers, that everything is fine and only a minor issue of mis-understanding between the GOC and soldiers. |
I still wonder why the wearing of black dress and robes in the brutal hot weather of the middle east? |
FFK will definetely be given a juicy position very soon...watch this space. |
No wonder children are not interested in going to schools anymore if there is no basic apparatus for learning. Where are the all the budget for education going - national, state and local? Yet some people will be prepared to blame the opposition for the picture. SMH |
@Op..you're doing a good job highlighting a number of issues with us Nigerians. Please keep it up...we need a champion like you and don't let anyone stop you. As simple common sense is not common among us Nigerians. We tend to misbehave as we're the only ones travelling - too much 'notice me syndrome' And their children are always unruly, shouting on top of their voices. Why can't we be like other cultures - Arabs, Chinese, Indians - they are more cultured and definetely richer than us in spending power. Reasons why I don't visit certain shops and outlets in Houston during summer holidays. I prefer to do a 3-hour journey to San Marcos Outlets and other places outside H-town for my shopping. |
Burundi's lower house of parliament has passed a bill intended to curb the country's "proliferation of churches". A government survey last year found there were 557 denominations practising in the small Central African state. New regulations would require churches to have at least 500 members and a proper building. Evangelical churches mushroomed during and after the long ethnic-based civil war, which officially ended in 2005 after some 300,000 people had died. The BBC's Prime Ndikumagenge in the capital, Bujumbura, says the bill received the unanimous support of MPs in the National Assembly and is unlikely to face much opposition in the Senate. If no changes are made to the draft legislation, it must be signed by the president within 30 days or sent back to parliament for a second reading. Once signed into law, churches would have a year to comply with the new regulations. For a foreign church to be allowed to register, it would have to show that it had 1,000 followers. Abuse scandals Our correspondent says it is common to see makeshift tents where worshippers gather by the side of the road on Sundays. Anyone can set themselves up as a preacher and there have been a few scandals over the years involving some of the smaller churches, he says Some preachers have been accused of manipulating or abusing their followers. One reported case involved a preacher who said that barren women wanting to conceive should sleep with him. Most of Burundi's nine million inhabitants are Christian, and some also follow traditional beliefs. During the parliamentary debate on Wednesday, MP Jean Minani asked for those following these animist beliefs to be given the right to worship as they wanted. Animist worshippers pray and perform rituals in the open to communicate with their ancestors or their god Imana. But Interior Minister Edouard Nduwimana dismissed such practices as "backward". President Pierre Nkurunziza - a former rebel who was first elected president in 2005 - is a born-again Christian and his wife is a preacher in an evangelical church. It's all our women-folk causing unnecessary problems in the family life - wives, sisters-in-law, mothers-in-law. When will there be peace within our marriages - most marital issues are started by the bolded above. |
How will he perform between now and 2015? Wike will now have enough time to terrorise Amaechi. |
This shows that majority of our politicians are criminals with nothing to offer. Little wonder our democracy is only a 'demonstration of craziness'. |
They are there to partake in the monthly sharing formula. Nothing concrete will come out of the meeting. |
For once I thought IBB is the president. |
candidbabe: Boko haram was introduced to Nigeria by the hausas and Apc supporters of APC in order to fulfill their promise to Gej of making the country ungovernable. But Boko Haram has been in existence before the formation of APC, how can the party be sponsoring Boko Haram ? |
shymexx: Stop chatting shyte. Canary Wharf is where all the naija fraudsters live now...and he more or less killed himself by spamming useless pictures everywhere, trying to show he has arrived, when he has no source of income. Unemployed - yet he lives in Canary Wharf - how does he pay his rent? And don't tell me the council gave him that flat.Correct words...the Asians are the biggest fraudsters in UK..they are well-coded and keep a low profile. |
Who will get the blame for the collapsed building? |
Everyone knows FIFA is a corrupt organisation. |
“All I am telling is that Oyinlola in the face of the law remains the authentic secretary of the PDP.” Perhaps buoyed by its performance in the Ekiti governorship election, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has begun moves to resolve the crisis in its Osun chapter with a view to winning the coming governorship election in the state. As part of the strategy, President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday held a closed-door meeting with a former Osun State governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. Although the agenda of the meeting was not disclosed, PREMIUM TIMES learnt that it is part of efforts by Nigeria’s ruling PDP to win the August 9 governorship election in Osun. The PDP’s candidate in the election, Iyiola Omisore, is the major challenger to the incumbent governor, Rauf Aregbesola, of the All Progressives Congress, APC. Mr. Oyinlola was accompanied to Tuesday’s meeting by the National Chairman of the PDP, Adamu Muazu. The former governor, who was controversially removed as National Secretary of the PDP, and is challenging his removal and eventual replacement in court, is believed to wield a major influence in Osun. Mr. Oyinlola was a member of the New PDP which was formed when some PDP governors fell out with the former party chairman, Bamanga Tukur. When the New PDP eventually merged with the APC, Mr. Oyinlola decided to remain in the PDP but to fight for his position. Mr. Oyinlola, a known loyalist of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, is believed to have also been courted by the incumbent Osun governor. While addressing journalists after Tuesday’s meeting, the Okuku-born politician and retired Brigadier General would not disclose details of his discussion with Mr. Jonathan, but said he was determined to reclaim his position as National Secretary of the PDP. He said anyone occupying the office of the Secretary of the PDP is a pretender. Mr. Oyinlola had after a PDP meeting on Monday said he was a rallying point to record victory for the party during the Osun governorship election and the 2015 general election. “I was taken to the villa by the chairman of the party PDP, and we had some discussions as to how to move the fortunes of the party forward,” he said on Tuesday. “All I am telling is that Oyinlola in the face of the law remains the authentic secretary of the PDP. Anybody in that office for now, is a pretender.” Source: http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/164215-%E2%80%8Eosun-election-jonathan-oyinlola-in-closed-door-meeting.html I know eventually GEJ will start to beg all those people he has annoyed previously, next is OBJ. It's all about the 2015 election. |
Politics of 'guguru'..lol |
He's just the scape goat. Why not arrest the main guys who provide finance and other resources. |
Sorry, our president can't read. |
