Italy and AC Milan great, El Capitano has died aged 66.

Baresi joined the AC Milan youth set-up after the Inter Milan youth academy opted to select his older brother, Giuseppe. In 1977/78 season, he made his Serie A debut and formally joined the starting 11 the following season. Alongside his brother Giuseppe, he was selected for the 1980 European Championships where Italy finished fourth.

Following the totonero match-fixing scandal in 1980, AC Milan was demoted to the Serie B with Franco opting to remain with the team. They won the Serie B title in 1981 and returned to the Serie A only to get relegated (following poor outing that season) again in 1982. Despite their poor performances, Franco was amongst the Italian National team that won the FIFA World Cup in 1982, despite not playing in any game.

In 1982, aged 22 - Franco was announced AC Milan captain, and held the armband for 15 seasons, only handing over to Paolo Maldini in 1997 after his retirement. It was always a fierce rivalry with his older brother during the Milan derby, especially as both of them were captains of their respective teams. They both played the same position as sweeper or centre-back. Giuseppe played 16 seasons for Inter and was captain from 1988-1992 winning the Serie A, Coppa Italia and UEFA Cup. Giuseppe was selected ahead of Franco for the Mexico '86 World Cup.where Italy failed to defend their trophy losing to Michel Platini's-inspired France (2-0) in the second round.

In the late 80s-early 90s, with the influx of stars like Jean Pappin, Frank Rijkaard, George Opong Weah, Marcel Desailly, Brian Laudrup, Ruud Gullit, Carlo Ancelotti, Marco Van Basten and others, Milan dominated under coaches Arrigo Sacchi and later Baresi's ex-teammate, Fabio Capello. Milan won the Serie A in 1988 conceding only 14 goals. Milan won the European Cup (now known as UEFA Champions League) in 1989 and defended it in 1990. Baresi finished runner-up to teammate, Van Basten in the 1989 Ballon d'Or race and was named Serie A footballer of the Year in 1990.

In what is still regarded as the World's greatest ever defence, Franco built the "Berlin Wall" alongside Alessandro CostaCurta, Mauro Tassotti and Paolo Maldini. They helped win the Serie A in 1992 (undefeated throughout the season), 1993 and 1994 (conceding only 15 goals). They also won the SuperCoppa Italia in three consecutive seasons in '92, '93 and '94 seasons.
In these times, Milan also reached the UEFA Champions League finals three times in a row, losing to Olympic Marseille in 1993 (1-0), beating Cruyff's Barcelona Dream Team in 1994 (4-0) and losing 1-0 (in 1995) to an Ajax side that had Finidi George, Edwin Van der Saar, Clarence Seedorf, Edgar Davids, etc.

Baresi was one of the stand-out players as Italy picked up Bronze on home soil in the 1990 World Cup, losing the semis to a Maradona-inspired Argentina on penalties. Italy went five games without conceding a goal.

Called up by his former Coach Sacchi, Baresi was Italy captain in the 1994 World Cup, losing one of the penalties that sank Italy against Brazil in the final.

Baresi capped another Serie A title in 1996 (his sixth)

Known as little Baresi in reference to his older brother; Franco who played all his professional games at AC Milan won 6 Serie A titles, 3 European Cups/UEFA Champions League titles, 2 InterContinental cups, 3 European Super Cups, 4 SuperCoppa Italia and 2 Serie B titles.

At International level, he participated in the 1980 Euros, the 1984 Olympics and won a Gold (1982), Silver (1994) and Bronze (1990) medals at three FIFA World Cups. Known for tackling ability, technical vision and mastery of the off-side trap, Baresi's shirt number 6 was retired by Milan in 1997.

He scored 31 goals, 21 coming from the spot.

Romance › Re: "My Husband Got Almost ₦1m From His Side Chick To Pay Our House Rent" — Woman Re by femi4: 4:26pm On Jul 31
"My husband got almost ₦1m from his side chick to pay our house rent" — Woman reveals

A woman has sparked widespread reactions on social media after claiming she discovered that her husband’s alleged side chick contributed almost ₦1 million to help him pay their family house rent during a period of financial hardship.

In a viral video, the woman narrated how she allegedly found WhatsApp messages showing that the woman sold one of her iPhones and one of her wigs to raise money for her husband.

She said the discovery left her shocked and questioning whether side chicks now help married men pay family bills.Magazines

She says they struggled together before life improved

According to the woman, she and her husband had been together for many years and built their lives from nothing.

“When I met this man, he was very, very poor,” she said, adding that they struggled together until “the blessings of God” changed their situation.

She claimed that after her husband became financially successful, his attitude towards their marriage changed.

She said: “As usual now, every African, or should I say 90% of African men will do this. When they start making money, that’s when they start to show you characters that you don’t understand.”

The woman alleged that her husband also began cheating on her after becoming financially comfortable.

Although she admitted she was hurt, she said she accepted that many men cheat and continued with the marriage while remaining cautious.

Financial difficulties returned

According to the woman, things later took a turn for the worse as her husband’s finances declined.

She claimed he began struggling to meet financial responsibilities and initially kept the challenges from her.

However, she said she eventually noticed because she is his wife and could see changes in the family’s finances.

She alleged that he started struggling to pay their children’s school fees despite previously paying them without difficulty.

The woman also claimed that paying their house rent became a major challenge.

She explained that her husband normally settled the rent at least a month before it became due, but this time he could not.

“I didn’t even know that things had gotten so bad for him until it was time to pay our rent and I saw the way he was struggling,” she said.

She refused to help despite having money

The woman admitted that her husband eventually approached her and asked whether she had money to help him pay the rent.

She revealed that she actually had the money but deliberately told him she did not.

Explaining her decision, she said: “I have the money but I told him I don’t have because I don’t see any reason why I should be paying rent for our house when my husband is unfaithful.”

She continued: “Call me whatever you want to call me… Judge me if you want.”

According to her, she believed it was no longer her responsibility to rescue him after years of alleged infidelity.

She said she watched him repeatedly negotiate with their landlord and beg for additional time to avoid eviction.

During that period, she said she had already prepared herself mentally for the possibility that they might lose the house.

“If at the end of the day this man cannot pay this rent, I’ll just take me and my kids to my parents’ house and start living with my parents,” she said.

She added that her husband’s alleged cheating had destroyed the love she once had for him.

“The love died,” she said.

She explained that if the same situation had happened years earlier, she would have willingly supported him financially because she still loved him then.

Months of struggle before the rent was paid
The woman said her husband spent months trying to persuade the landlord to give him more time.

She clarified that although money was tight, the family still had food to eat.

She said: “Although we’re still eating though. It’s not like there was no food to eat.”

Eventually, after months of struggling, her husband succeeded in paying the rent.

She recalled seeing how relieved and happy he looked after finally settling the debt.

WhatsApp message exposed alleged secret
According to the woman, a few weeks after the rent was paid, she picked up her husband’s phone because her own phone was having issues.

She insisted she was not searching through his phone to monitor his activities.

Instead, she said she wanted to use his phone to sort out an internet-sharing issue.

While using the device, she claimed a WhatsApp notification suddenly appeared.

The message was allegedly from one of her husband’s side chicks.

She said she initially ignored it because she already believed her husband was cheating.

However, curiosity got the better of her.

“I just wanted to be curious,” she explained.

She opened the chat and began scrolling through earlier conversations.

She claims side chick financed most of the rent

According to the woman, the messages showed the alleged side chick comforting her husband during his financial difficulties.

She claimed the woman repeatedly encouraged him not to lose hope and promised to help him raise money for the rent.

As she continued reading, she said she discovered messages showing that the woman eventually contributed about 70 per cent of the rent.

She claimed the woman sold one of her iPhones and one of her wigs to raise money.

According to her, the total amount allegedly given to her husband was close to ₦1 million.

She said: “Apparently, the money that my husband got to pay our rent, it was the side chick that gave my husband about 70% of it.”

She added: “This girl sold one of her iPhones and sold one of her wigs and gave it to my husband.”

The woman claimed her husband assured the alleged side chick that he would repay the money.

Wife says she could only laugh

The woman said the discovery left her stunned.

Instead of reacting with anger, she said she simply laughed while reading the conversations.

She questioned whether side chicks had begun taking on responsibilities she never expected.

She said: “I thought side chicks were just there for the benefit. I thought side chicks were just there to enjoy.”

She also wondered whether the woman had genuinely fallen in love with her husband.

According to her, the level of sacrifice suggested there might have been promises made behind the scenes.

She said: “Except maybe my husband has promised her marriage. That’s what I’m thinking.”

She asks married women and side chicks to share experiences

Concluding the video, the woman asked viewers whether they had ever experienced a similar situation.

She specifically asked married women whether they had ever discovered that a bill paid by their husbands was actually financed by a side chick.

She also directed a question at women involved in relationships with married men.Magazines

“Those of you that are side chicks, do you used to help your sugar daddies pay their bills?” she asked.

The woman added that she personally could never imagine helping a married boyfriend settle his financial responsibilities.

She ended the video by asking viewers whether they believed the alleged side chick acted out of genuine love or because she had allegedly been promised marriage.

Yes, Lexus and Acura are luxury brands of Toyota and Honda. Hyundai is not a luxury brand. Hyundai's luxury brand is called Genesis.

Hyundai Sonata is equivalent of Toyota's Camry or Honda's Accord. And I think the older versions of Sonata is relatively very reliable. Not so sure of recent ones.

Tension has heightened in Osun State following the arrest of the Secretary to the State Government, Teslim Igbalaye, and five others by the police over alleged vote-buying and possession of electoral materials.

The development has triggered a fresh confrontation between the Osun State Government and security authorities as political activities intensify ahead of the state's governorship election.

The police reportedly arrested Igbalaye during an operation linked to allegations of electoral malpractice. The authorities said the investigation was connected to suspected vote-buying and the possession of materials allegedly intended for use in the electoral process.

The arrest has, however, drawn a strong reaction from Governor Ademola Adeleke, who rejected what he described as attempts to intimidate members of his administration and supporters.

Adeleke said his administration would not bow to intimidation, insisting that the people of Osun State must be allowed to participate in the democratic process without fear.

The governor's position has added a political dimension to the arrest, with his administration questioning the circumstances surrounding the police operation.

The state government has reportedly raised concerns about the manner in which security operatives carried out the operation and alleged that the actions could undermine the democratic process in the state.

The police, on the other hand, maintain that their actions are connected to the enforcement of electoral laws and the investigation of alleged offences.

The development comes at a sensitive period for Osun, where political parties and their supporters are stepping up preparations for the governorship election.

The central issue now is whether the arrest represents a legitimate law-enforcement operation against suspected electoral offences or whether, as Adeleke's camp alleges, security agencies are being used in a manner that could intimidate political actors.

For voters and observers, the unfolding dispute also raises broader questions about the neutrality of security agencies and the need to ensure a credible and peaceful electoral process.

The allegations against those arrested remain subject to investigation, and any determination of criminal responsibility will depend on the outcome of due legal processes.

With the election drawing closer, the latest development is likely to keep the political atmosphere in Osun tense, while increasing scrutiny on the conduct of security agencies and political actors.

All eyes will now be on the police investigation, the response of the Adeleke administration and whether the dispute will have any wider impact on the state's electoral process.
