Thank you comrades for your input. I just confirmed the recommended means of paying Passport handling fee from VFS website for applicants outside SA who applied online. If you have Domiciliary account with any bank, simply take a printout of the document I attached here along with your cheque book and passport number and walk into your bank. Identify the Funds transfer desk and request for an international funds transfer. Give them a copy of the printed document so they can pick all the necessary bank details of VFS South Africa.

As stated on top of this document, your transaction reference number must be: your passport number, your phone number and your full name as it appears on your passport. If you do not have a DOM account, ask any of your friends to help you with his account. As long as the transaction reference captures your details, you are good to go.

Once the transaction is complete, take a copy of the teller or any evidence of the transaction they will give you and attach it to your passport and send through UPS or any fast courier company. Remember our passports must get to them maximum 20 days after online submission of application.

Good luck comrades.

Femi, hope your kiwi wife sabi cook. We plenty dey come ohhh. Naija must represent. Isee...

Yes, you can show POF for each of your kids, wife, an self. You don't need to send money. Print your statement of account and perhaps your wife statement of account, print a travel itenary, your soa should cover your flight tickets. Get a recommendation letter from your bank. Also, you can apply together as a family no need for separate registration.
Solin is right, no need for separate application. There should be a column for dependents in ur application form which will include partner and Children. Your partner and kids don’t qualify for the visa on their own right. Hence they have to depend on u as the principal applicant.

I haven’t seen the form but if there’s no column for dependents in the form, then it will have to be another “partner of a student visa form” or something similar which you will have to fill and submit with yours. That partnership form will definitely come with column for “dependents child(ren).

Best advice would be to follow the one from the visa centre when it comes to payment. Instructions are always available. If you’re unclear about the instructions, email them.
Reason I can’t give a vivid info is because things may have changed since I last use their service and I won’t want to give a misleading info.
But the info from them is the updated and genuine one.

Before now, handling fee is charged together with the visa fee for paper applications. But now with all this online application, things are changing often.

Nothing is impossible but I find it hard to believe the part where he said he didn’t know until he got to his car. Tellers in developed countries are trained to can’t the notes one by one on the table or on the machine so that the cctv can pick it as evidence or the teller didn’t count in his presencehuh

Is it when I'm contacted to pick up or as soon as I send the passport?

Please advise

How did you send?
Was it through DHL?
Also what's the collection back from SA to Nigeria?
you can send with any courier but u need to negotiate pick up too as the visa centre won’t send it to u.... then I spent 20k+ to send and when it comes to pick up I got a quote of 70k+ From the same courier company so I had to contact one of my Boys in SA who send his gf to help pick up and send to me via SA post. I then spent about 12k in total including Uber fee for the gf.

If u have any mate around Pretoria, u can download a pick up approval form + ur ID and they can help. This is the cheapest way to pick up.

About 5 out of our team has that.
If they have genuine reasons with proper documentation and can prove they are bona fide visitor. No reason why they can’t get their visa. I have seen the INZ procedures and guidelines for immigration officers to decide visa application and there’s nothing like virgin or no virgin passport.

It’s just the same way any employer would prefer to employ someone with experience so they check their previous performance. But that doesn’t mean a fresh graduate who can sell him or herself won’t get the same job.

I personally believe that a virgin passport holder even have better chance than someone with travel experience but has been deported, refused entry or denied visa to several countries in the past. This are massive red flag for any immigration officer than just someone who never leave their country.

But such cant be done for a work visa nah, i got the job late oct 2018 and applied first week in Nov, employer wants me to resume mid Dec 2018, so no much time, my employer equally sent a mail INZ to hasten up the immigration process.

so nothing i could do, on my own part
I have to say that your employer expecting u to resume in less than 2 months is ridiculous. If they’re accredited employer, they would know what’s happening with INZ at the moment.

Work visa or luxury, when u apply for any visa category, ur application join the queue of others who already apply in the same category. INZ is not obligated to speed up or give a preferential treatment to any application except in a very special case and this decision is made by either supervisor, managers or immigration minister but not case officers. However if u have a good relationship and explanation with your case officer then he/ she can escalate something for u . But they not obligated to do that.

Every application is different and are treated differently based on the risk involved and complexity.

Hi femi, thanks alot i appreciate, but what exactly is wrong with INZ, seems they recently recruited some racist or what, i applied for work visa since first week of Nov 2018, only for INZ to get back to me April 2019 that the position has been taken, asking me "to reconfirm with my employer if the job is available".

Is there any serious employer that will leave a position open for 6 months? despite how my employer was begging them to hasten up the whole process that they needed me to resume on the 15th of December.
I can relate to your frustration, but unfortunately there’s nothing anybody can do about the situation with INZ at the moment. You are not the only one going through this. It’s totally crazy, INZ is constantly under fire from many immigration lawyers and the masses.

https://www.radionz.co.nz/news/national/386918/new-zealand-visa-applications-ignored-for-months-as-immigration-struggles-with-targets

The delay with your application has got nothing to do with race or where u from, it’s simply due to the backlog and INZ struggling to meet up with the demand for the past 1yr+. My last work visa took just about 6 months even though I applied onshore.

Two things may have contributed to the delay with your application. One is the current workload and the other is due to the period of the year at which you applied.
From 1st week of December to early February, staffs take their annual leave and most INZ offices are left with skeletal staffs . they can only do whatever they can do. So because of the last Xmas holiday, u definitely would have been pushed forward atleast a month.

I will advise u check with your employer if the position is still open. If not, look around for other similar openings and if u can get another offer, then u can Update and explain your situation to INZ. Any employer recruiting from overseas knew u will need some time for immigration before offering u the job.

For INZ to ask u to check for the job availability,it means your application has been assessed initially but need to be sure the job is still available before issuing any visa.

Yes, but I'm looking at it from our view of participating in the conference.

AU denied many of my colleagues visas for the last conference. I'm wondering if NZL can do same
All visa applicant must meet the requirements for the category they’re applying for, and also be able to demonstrate that they are genuine and bona fide visitor or tourist before a visa can be granted.

Paying for a conference doesn’t guarantee a visa. It’s all about meeting the standard and requirements before being considered bona fide.

thanks for your reply.. I think there is waiver for countries with English as official language or someone that obtained b.sc with English as learning language.
yes that’s correct, I have a Nigerian friend who had been offered Nursing without Ielts. But for M.sc, it may be different. But I can confirm from someone later.

I will advise you check with the school you’re applying to.

Example of this is the requirement for Otago University. Input your country and the requirements comes up.

This is not surprising as most of those coming from the Muslim dominated countries are coming to support their families who were affected in the last terrorist attack in CHC. Immigration has prioritised their application. But mind you most them are general visitor visa. Which means they can only stay for few months.

Thanks for the clarification jare. I am single and have nobody coming with me. As for course of study, my options are very flexible, as long as the career is in demand and exciting.

Life is an adventure, hence I will have nothing to lose if I do the right thing and leave the rest to God. We must take risks in life to exploit our full potentials. I will go ahead.

Best regards.
Make the move, you won’t regret it but don’t expect a smooth ride. Since you’re single, I believe u can navigate every avenue possible.

Stay subject to ur visa and entry conditions n respect the law. NZ is a beautiful place. Best of luck

Thanks for the insight and the information you are providing here. I'm applying to University of Auckland for PhD and may be considered for tuition and stipend scholarship. I would be coming with family (husband and 3kids, 2 are of school age). Can my husband work based on my student visa? How easy would it be for my husband to get a job? He is a systems analyst. How are there primary schools? Do we have to pay fees for the kids?
Your husband as a dependent will qualify for a open work visa which means he can work for any employer anywhere in NZ. There’s no restrictions on the hours he can work.

He will get a job if his qualifications meet the required standard. If not, he can always start from somewhere.

Your kids can go to school for free. But sometimes they ask for donations which is voluntary.

Hopefully this answers ur questions

Comrade Femi, I more than agree with those who have identified you as one of the best on Nairaland. You have really done great on this thread. I admire your humility and the zeal to help fellow countrymen without shades.

My bros, I just got an unconditional offer to study Graduate Diploma at Manukau Institute of Technology, Otara NZ. It has not been easy for me to take the final decision to proceed with visa application because of fear of uncertainty in a new country.

I am in my late 30s and in a full time employment in Naija earning above 200k. But in life, we always strive for the best.

From your experience living and working in New Zealand, how can you assess my chances of succeeding through the student Visa route especially considering my age. I plan to switch career to a skill in demand especially in tourism and hospitality. Are there chances that I will get full time employment in an area in demand with a New Zealand qualification at my age. Or do graduates end up doing menial jobs just like in UK and most European countries. What are my chances of getting a PR looking at statistics from other African students.

Thanks for your input in advance. Remain blessed
It’s normal for anyone to feel what you’re feeling right now especially since there’s so much to loose if it doesn’t work out. After your study, u will definitely get a post study visa. This is the link for for what you will qualify for.
https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-zealand-visas/apply-for-a-visa/tools-and-information/work-and-employment/how-long-you-can-work-on-a-post-study-work-visa

Do you have a family? If u do, are they coming with u? this is very important.

About your age, NZ doesn’t descriminate about age or gender as it’s unlawful to do that here. I don’t think getting a job will be an issue if your course of study is in high demand.

I will encourage you to do more research about your course of study since u don’t wanna work outside that. In NZ, I can guarantee u will get a job in no time if you have the attitude and willingness...... I don’t know what kind of menial job is done in the UK, but u can easily get a job in production & manufacturing , retail, construction, warehousing and agriculture depending on where you live.

Tourism is a booming part of NZ economy, and you should check what the pay rate is and also the employment opportunities as these will be crucial in qualifying for a further visa or residence if u choose the job route.

If you fall in the low skill after your study, u will have to leave NZ for a year of stand down when u exhaust ur post study visa. But I think you can also get an employer assisted visa if u work for an accredited employer even when ur post study runs out if I’m right.
