TravelRe: Nigeria Immigration Officer Please Answer This Question by femijck(m):
Do u really need a new passport now? I may be wrong but you can apply with your current passport, and when it expires, get a new one and apply for transfer of visa label to the new one. Your visa is still valid even when the passport expires. U just need a valid passport to make international travel out of where u stay.

Although I have seen cases where embassy could not issue visa beyond the passport validity. Instead of 1yr, I think they gave the guy 10 months or so but why not check with the country’s immigration first and ask same question.

Hello. I need your inputs. I am in a bit of dilemma. - should I go or should I not??,

With student partner work visa : 8 months for a start with possible 1 year extension

I want to know how easy can one get a job in North Dunedin - could be anywhere in country really buy my preference is Dunedin for personal reasons .

Must one hold a driver's license?

Because I'm not sure if my skills will be acceptavle in NZ or not please, like how much can one make with 'any' job. Need some money to further education.

Cc femijck
The visa category you’ve mentioned is a very good one to come to NZ with. It’s an open work visa which means u can work anywhere in NZ and no restrictions on the number of hours u can work, even though ur student partner can only work 20hrs/w

The choice of which city to stay will depend on your personal research. Dunedin is down the South Island, very cold and jobs might be hard to get. I personally would advise North island.

But if u choose to stay in Dunedin, working on a farm or hospitality might be something to consider. I haven’t been to Dunedin but I believe students of Otago University are those who majorly come to NZ to live there.

When u run out of extension, if ur employer is accredited, then they can sponsor u for another 2-3 yrs essential skill visa.

P.S; remember u have to live with your student partner to qualify for an extension..... if extension is not possible, then it’s not worth it.

Also your situation in Nigeria is something to consider, do u have a good job? What do u stand to loose if u risk leaving? Is it worth it??
When I say good job, I mean a job paying u 400k upward

The letter in a mail was send to me by the agent thru whatapps message .so I can't get the sender mail id.
So have you talk to your agent and what did he say? The kind of visa described to u is called ‘Essential skill visa’ which is granted when employer couldn’t find people to do their job locally or among people who have legal right to work. However the letter sent to u is seriously doubtful. I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of it being genuine but 99% scam.

If u have ur application and passport number, I can share a link here where u can check ur immigration status. It will show approval and date if it’s real

I applied thru an agent and the package states that they will get us a farm job plus feeding and accommodation.
The agent said an invitation letter will be send by the company for the processing of the visa .later he said the type of visa he will do for us is visiting and that after 3 months the company will process our work permit.

I will forward the letter sent by NZ immigration later .
Is this a letter in the email or an email? If it’s an email, can u pm me sender address. But th English in the letter is not NZ English and not INZ letter format. Most of the words in the letter are not in correlation with INZ letter template.

Unfortunately, I can't do without naija food. Call him anything, I don't mind, but oju lo Mo oun to yo nu

Last Sunday, I drove to this car wash along Kudirat Abiola Way in Oregun. Whilst the car was being washed, I bought nkwobi for the first time in my life. The result/outcome was disastrous. My lips got swollen. I do t eat what you guys call sprawn, lobsters, crayfish, crab etc cos of reaction. Make I eat what's good for my body ooo grin
lol.... ur post cracked me up bro..... all good, better stick to ur ewedu o grin grin >: grin

Let me breakdown.
SAA with 44 hours plus journey means I'll travel on Thursday 5/9/2019 and arrive Auckland 8/9/19. Cost is $2,300
Egypt Air 34 hours $2,300
Emirates is LOS DXB AKL total 29 hours $3400

I chose emirates cos of shorter travel hours.

I booked an aparthotel to cook for myself. Would go with ewedu, ata gigun, garri then get some pepper at the super market to cook for myself in my room for 5 days, as we would be offered 3 course meal at the conference from 9-11 September, hence I've to cook for just few days. That's why I budgeted N100,000 (NZL $400)
I know drinks are quite expensive. Saw a coke in the hotel I booked for $3(N750). Same pet bottle coke goes for N100 in Nigeria.

Why is NZL that expensive?
ok I gat that now..... bros u no try o...... so u can’t do without Naija food for one week...Lol

I haven’t taste Naija food since I moved here....

u can buy a whole box of the coke and keep in ur fridge. Might only cost around $10 and will save u heaps. Always buy ur stuff in bulk from big stores.

For instance a Box of 15 bottles of Heineken cost me $30 at west liquor yesterday but each bottle will cost me around 7-8$ each at the pub.

NZL is expensive, may be because it’s the second safest country in the world I don’t have any idea
TravelRe: 8 Things You Need To Know About New Zealand by femijck(op): 7:28pm On Dec 27, 2018
I think your airfare is too high. How many stops?

your miscellaneous abit low for 6 days as you will be buying foods or do u plan to make your food.....
Even small bottle of beer can cost upto $8 or more depending on the pub
davodyguy:
Na dem sabi.

I just want to visit Auckland in September, if not I wouldn't have minded.

Already fixed the traveling expenses

Ticket via Emirates N1,264,000
Conference fee N360,000
Visa logistics and passport renewal N100,000
Hotel in Auckland N200,000
Miscellaneous N100,000
Total N1,904,000

For 6 nights only

Till now, they don't have VAC like AU? I'm asking.

Also, since they don't stamp passport, why request for it physically, after seeing the data pages?
They have VAC all around the world but decided to shut down most of them last year due to staff exploitation and maltreatment in some of the VACs. Also the fact that they see your data page doesn’t mean it’s a legitimate passport. They have the right to request for the real passport if they have concerns or needs to verify. If you are onshore, it might be different because you can take a copy for certification by a Justice of Peace available at most Citizen’s advice bureau.

No, on what ground would u qualify for a resident visa.......your friend can only sponsor his immediate family like his spouse or kids.....apart from his spouse and dependent kids, no other person can’t get a resident visa through him.
For the spouse to qualify, they don’t even have to be married, but must have been living together for a minimum of 12 months with solid evidence of partnership and public recognition of them as couple
iwanvisityankee:
for resident visa
he can also sponsor a close relative like siblings for visit visa and if they meet the requirements of a bonafide visitor. And have a very genuine reason to wanna visit. Still that doesn’t guarantee d visa

iwanvisityankee:
@femijck; from this link https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-zealand-visas/apply-for-a-visa/tools-and-information/general-information/acceptable-sponsors it says an individual NZ citizen can sponsor someone; Does it mean that a friend of mine over there can sponsor me? Thanks

Thanks alot for sharing your experience @Femijck. There's no email yet. Please note that the Pretoria VAC is still operational.

https://www.immigration.govt.nz/about-us/media-centre/news-notifications/pretoria-visa-application-centre

I will just wait for their email. Thanks once again for your time.
yeap wait for the email it might not come in until mid or late January as some part of INZ is closed for Xmas. When did u apply and has ur account been debited with d visa fee yet?
TravelRe: 8 Things You Need To Know About New Zealand by femijck(op): 5:00am On Dec 27, 2018
People who have applied online should contribute please. When I did mine,it was a paper application so I sent everything to Pretoria including my passport via FedEx express and also UPS at some point.... If your passport was not requested for in the email, I don’t think you have to. when ur application is approved, and they need to see ur pp, it might show “approved in principle” and then they will request for the real pp and any other documents before issuing d visa.
I haven’t done any online application before as I prefer to send all hard copy of my documents. And I’m wondering, if the Pretoria office is still open. According to the local news I read, I thought it’s been closed.

lantrenzo:
Thank you for your quick response. I have checked that link earlier. It is sort of not straight forward.

Have you heard of anyone who applied for VV from Nigeria and was asked to send his or her passport to SA VAC?

If yes, what courier service was used?

Otherwise, what is the next step after an online application?

Thank you so much my
p.s if your pp is needed, you will be notify and be given a deadline. I believe that’s how it works.
Cheers
