PoliticsRe: Senate Condemns UK Travel Ban On Nigerians Over Omicron by Fernandeswagger(m): 11:24am On Dec 08, 2021
Nnamdinaija:
Nigeria is their office/shop while UK, U.S and Switzerland is their home.

Most people make their money here but their home is in European and U.S countries. Same thing applies to our leaders and that is why they don't care about Nigeria because they go to office (that is Nigeria) only to make the money, after they gather the money from the office, they spend the money arranging and tidying their homes in UK. Many people will keep on using one chair in their office for years even after it is worn out BUT will quickly mend or replace the chairs in their home immediately it is dainty.

So in the case of our leaders, Nigeria is their office while UK, U.S, Switzerland, etc is their home. Same applies to many wealthy Nigerians in this country. That is why all their children are home outside Nigeria while they themselves are in the office (Nigeria) making the money to send home.

SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM:
It should be provided in the Nigeria constitution that a certain number of years should be attached to every political seat in the country from the Federal government level (Executive, Legislature and Judiciary), to the state level (Executive, Legislature and Judiciary) down to the Local government level (Executive, Legislature and Judiciary) during which the person on seat will not be allowed to leave the country for any reason whatsoever after his or her tenure.

It is not infringement of the person's freedom of movement because soldiers in the Army go through same during their service period. Soldiers go only where they are permitted to go and when a soldier goes otherwise, it is seen as sabotage or treason which at times if such otherwise movement looks suspicious warrants the death penalty on the faulting soldier.

FEDERAL LEVEL
The Executive-----10 years
The Legislature----7 years
The Judiciary-----5 years

STATE LEVEL
The Executive-----10 years
The Legislature----7 years
The Judiciary-----5 years

LOCAL GOVERNMENT LEVEL
The Executive-----7 years
The Legislature----5 years
The Judiciary-----3 years

When the person on seat knows that he will not be allowed to travel outside the country for certain number of years for him not to utilize the quality medical facilities in those countries, he will be forced to provide them in his own country because he won't want to gamble on his own life.

HealthRe: Boss Mustapha: Lagos Got N10bn, Kano N5bn To combat COVID-19 by Fernandeswagger(m): 10:38pm On Dec 06, 2021
What hurts about the Nigerian system is the fact that the masses know these guys in government are deceitful. This cash as huge as it is will not be used for the purpose it's meant for.

The current guys running the government will loot everything and yet the masses just complain and grumble. Nothing's done to change the disgusting narrative.

We need to change the narrative. We need to make politicians know there will be a consequence for stealing public funds. Until then the rot continues.

Good luck to the thieves cashing out. One day people in power will be held accountable.
CareerRe: Do Students With Aeronautic Degree Get Jobs In Nigeria? by Fernandeswagger(m): 2:53pm On Dec 04, 2021
Omoniyidarasimi:
Do students with aeronautic degree get job in nigeria
Nigeria is not yet ripe for aeronautical engineers. I know that because that's what I did in my first degree. But don't despair there's hope. Since we don't manufacture aircraft in Nigeria you'll hardly find a design job which is basically what it's all about. So to fit into the Nigerian system you'll have to become a maintainer of aircraft that's the closest you'll get in Nigeria.
Now to do that you require to get a licence from NCAA. So if your still interested in getting the degree and working in Nigeria that's your best bet. Get your license then you can upgrade from the Nigerian licence to foreign ones like the FAA and EASA licence. With the oversea licence you can work overseas as an aircraft maintenance engineer.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Air: FG To Float IPO, Begins Operations With Three Planes by Fernandeswagger(m): 7:31am On Nov 30, 2021
FreeStuffsNG:
Hmmm. These are funds from investors from everywhere all over the world, not the usual national cake where excellent international service delivery and corporate governance will be sacrificed on the altar of politics and national character which killed the defunct Nigeria Airways.
While it is practical to hire everyone from here, it may not easily convince the international investors that want returns on their investments.

For that kind of vision, it's not even compulsory that the M.D come from Nigeria, especially at the early stages if you truly want to quickly make inroads into the highly capital intensive but competitive aviation industry. The Executive Managing Director/ President of the Emirates Airline is a British citizen Sir Tim Clark KBE https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_Clark_(airline_executive) who was previously managing the Sri Lankan airways and later moved to the Emirates where he has been the President of Emirates since January 2003 (almost 20 years now) and you need to see how infectious his passion is. He literally grew the Emirates Airline to what it is today yet he is British. So if we can get someone like that, for practical purposes, he and the investors will insist on assembling his team of highly experienced crew from all over the world in order to build the brand and culture then in later years, start increasing the number of Nigerians in the company.

Hopefully, before then, he or she would have shown promises of profitability in the company so it can get more investors to fund its future expansion. It becomes a win win to all the stakeholders in the long run; government achieves seeing the National Airway flying in the sky again and creating jobs and capital importation while investors get their dividends.
Incidentally, this was a similar model FG used for setting up NAHCO and even after divesting from NAHCO during Pa Obj's tenure, NAHCO still retained its name yet it's 100% private run and profitably too. In fact, NAHCO appointed an expatriate recently to resume this December,. If you go through the profile of the man NAHCO just hired, you will know that NAHCO took the vacancy to the international audience and didn't restrict it to Nigeria.
During his tenure in NAHCO , there will be knowledge transfer, more efficiency and profitability due to his past experience in that role at different times in different international airports in different countries, and more jobs created as NAHCO grows more to yield more dividends to the shareholders.

I support their steps so far and it shows some thinking has gone into it. To start an airline is good o but the ability of the airline to survive and compete profitably over time is more important.

From my experience of how the management and workers of defunct Nigerian Airways were giving their relatives free tickets those days, starting with Nigerian crew who may soon start giving family, friends and associates free tickets can be avoided with a wet lease.
Once the corporate culture is set and more of our compatriots come on board, they will just fall in line and understand that everything they must do must be top-notch international best practices.

May God bless Nigeria.
I like your point of view. Good reason for the wet lease. I pray that was also their reason for it. Time will surely tell. All the best for the country.

My brother leadership is very easy, in Africa we just have leadership that wants all and all.
Once we can get powerful institutions all these nonsense will stop, a country in South America just voted a rural teacher as their President and he insists collecting only his teacher salary.

Hunchogee plz report for us how the leadership structure una de see over there be
See South Korea that Nigeria was far ahead in the 1960s to 70s
Strongly agree with the strong institution theory. It's one of the major challenge we have in Nigeria. Once we get that right. Every other thing will naturally fall in place. Strong institutions will birth selfless leaders who won't see their time in charge as a time for personal aggrandizement and a time to take their share of the 'national cake.' As long as the system continues supporting huge emoluments for political office holders we'll continue having the current breed of leaders.

Abeg which South American country is that? The president is on another level completely.

Ikpe do you know what you are saying?
How close is the ring road to the axis where the state house of assembly, Tropicana, 21st storey, Banks, worship centre....do you know why El Rufai had to destroy so many building in Abuja?
The ring road was planned together with the master plan which Akpabio utterly destroyed
Ordinary event in Ibom Hall, that entire vicinity is hell not to talk of erecting structures not designated inside a master plan
The ring road will do nothing cause the ring road was long planned along with the master plan, which has since been distorted.
Did you know the Tropicana was to sit an international conference center too, in that same vicinity?
Akpabio would have turned Uyo to a modern ghetto
Mehn your last sentence got me in stitches grin

Okay I agree with you it seems Akpabio goofed with the original plan. Looks like Udom is doing the right thing. But you know the town is expanding hopefully more activities will be drawn away from these axis to reduce traffic.

Leadership no be beans sha. Reason we need a combo of technocrats and businessmen in charge.

Udom
Attah
Akpabio

What’s urs?
Attah

Udom

Akpabio

My reasons: Attah was more visionary than the other two guys. Probably because of his profession. Don't forget he had less funds at his disposal before initiating a lot of projects.

Akpabio destroyed the master plan, built a stadium where it shouldn't be.
Built Tropicana in a business district, now Udom is building a worship center in that location don't they know in years to come the traffic in that axis will be hell?
Akpabio built e-library another waste and distortion instead of completing the science park
Oblong Victor Attah was and still remains the greatest
Attah is an architect...the father of modern Akwa Ibom ( that's if there's somfin like that).

But each if them are unique just like someone up there has already said.

Attah's battle with the FG for 13% resource control was necessary in his time. Each day our needs change, you wouldn't expect his predecessors to be exactly like him. I believe each man has made his own mark. These infrastructure can't be uprooted. It's pointless complaining about them.
Hopefully the current and subsequent administrations will follow the master plan. Like this seaport, it was in the plan and Udom is seeing it through.

For the worship center and Tropicana causing gridlock in future, I believe when the ring roads are completed, that would reduce any gridlock.

You want to start Nigeria Air soon. My main concern here is: why start with a wet lease? In a country with a high number of unemployed youths. You are doing wet lease?
For those that might not know, wet leasing means the 3 aircraft will be delivered with a complete crew. For me it's not fair to unemployed Nigerian youths. Speaks volumes about the sincerity of govt to reduce unemployment.

fkj950ax:
It may sound good, but the same politicians in the Federal structure will just go to the regional structure and continue being overloads.
Imagine an El-Rufai as Governor General of NC Region or Ganduje as Governor General of NE or Tinubu Governor General of SW...

We need to first
1. Make public office unattractive financially. Cap total allowances and salaries to civil service sector
2. Establish a strong Judicial arm of government
3. Remove the police from executive control and place under Judicial arm
4. Set term limits on legislative offices (4 terms)
5. Bar ex-Governors from contesting legislative offices

Then we can consider regional system... but I don't think we will have this again as an issue because the current federal system will work
This is a very sound proposal. I wish it could be implemented.

Just like you said in the last sentence. There wouldn't be any need for restructuring if the solutions you proffered were implemented.

Note: I'm not against restructuring.

Everybody talking as if it's a sure bet that PDP will give Atiku or a northerner the presidential ticket.
Yeah it's a possibility not yet the reality.

Politic politics. Reason most people are sure the opposition party is giving it's ticket is probably because they assume Atiku is the strongest PDP member that can defeat Tinubu at the polls.

What if the PDP gives the ticket to Goodluck Jonathan? Between BAT and GEJ who do you think would win?

The 13% derivation should be removed it's so unfair on the guys whose land faces the harsh realities of environmental degradation.

It should be 85% derivation and the bloody heavens won't fall.

Before their takeover, Man U wasn't owing until Malcolm Glazier bought the club and used it as loan collateral. Okay, sell the club to a richer person, they don't want. The prince would have bought Man U and improved the club. But now it's Newcastle's gain. Three hundred million pounds is a bargain considering how much he'll make later. With the Glazers and the clueless Ole on the wheel, it's not looking good for Man U.
