The ATAK is light years more modern, a proven platform and carried a tripple barrel 20 mm.

The army only witnessed a demonstration. The Army's pivot is clearly towards Russian helos.

Surely, you don't know that ATAK is also lightly armoured. It is also proven to be basically a toy.

Cool story, however the fact is the Rooivalk is useless.

It gun is weak and it can't hit it's advertised target range.

First things first, you know how things run in South-Africa. Rooivalk 2.0 won't be available for another 10 years.

The probable solution for the Nigerian army would be a Paramount group upgraded MI-24/35. As an African company, Paramount group understands the tropical conditions of the African climate. However if Nigeria were to go with Paramount for upgraded MI-24/25, the main gun would have to change to a more powerful gun.

Nigerian Army has the options of the MI-35M and MI-28N, both platforms more capable and battle proven than the Rooivalk. Infact the MI-35 proved it's mettle in Syria.

The Z-10 attack helicopter is also another capable asset. Very Modern, and very well armed.

Most likely options for Nigeria would be the MI-17 terminator and MI-35M or MI-28N. 6 units each.

You are reasoning like child. In fact, Rooivalk is the most armoured and powerful machine you can ever find today. You have never even seen it at close distance but already you are calling it names just because it is from SA. Surely, if Rooivalk was made in America you would have been going crazy about it over the net. You mentioned that it misses its advertised target range. Is that not the same as riffles? We are told that they snipe a target at 300km, but is that always the case? A stupppid man like you will always blame it on the weapon, yet failing to take human error to account. Calculators and computers are told to be accurate, but will they always give correct answers even if they used by stupppid like you? Nope, the person (man) using them has to be accurate first as for them to always respond with maximum results.

just wondering what the airforce will use if army is to use Roovialk, will it be ka-50, or MI 28.

Very often, the army's air wing uses powerful gunships than air force.

Your brain is dead. Nigerians run many companies just like mtn but CEO mtn want to make more money and ordered the Nigerian executives to forget about government since they have always being breaking the the law since they entered Nigeria. Tell US why other telecom companies complied? Is it not Nigerians that run them? The simple truth is that the CEOs are not greedy south Africans.

Next time south African try US we will hand over your country back to whites. Tell Zuma that you will go back to apartheid era.

Lol!!! CEO of MTN Nigeria who also happens to be a Nigerian. What a coincidence. Hehehehe…

I cannot believe that was your reasoning. It was indeed poorly structured. Just because they have turned MTN into largest profit making hub does not grant them any right whatsoever to flaunt their own laws. BMW and Mercedes have been making their largest profit in Africa and America through SA and US than in their home country and so are many largest corporations in the world including Coca-Cola. I doubt if Coca-Cola makes more money in its home country than in China but that does not give China any rights to bottle Coke in dirty bottles because that would amount to commercial sabotage as in the case of MTN. Admit that Nigerians are incapable of running any company be it their own or foreign corporations without flaunting the laws.
Be specific, poorly trained Nigerians flauted the law not South Africans. Embarrassment is attached to you particularly MTN Nigeria.
Then if you have sabotaged MTN just because SA confiscated illegal money (money laundering) that was meant to buy weapons illegally, then it will mean that your country does not have morals. That's why its citizens flaunted its laws using South African brand MTN. You are indeed all criminals in Nigeria.

Ouch!!! What a one million dollar reply. I still emphasise and reiterate my point that all potential investors in Nigeria must review their decisions of appointing Nigerians in strategic positions of their corporations. I know the likes of FERRARI, PORCHE, LAMBOGINI, MASERATI, and all other expensive brands of sports cars might be eying the possibility of opening their offices in Nigeria same way as they have done in SA, but the question is "Who are they going to put in the driving seat of their companies?" Nigerians!!! Oops that will be a lot riskier seeing how MTN ended in the wrong hands of the law.

Nigerians can never run anything without colliding with the law and that is evident on the millions of small businesses that they run in South Africa which are often used as a front for drugs selling business. How many of them were caught selling drugs and still have their businesses intact without their stock being confiscated? How many of our children did they kill with their drugs? I think is high time that South Africa should start to toughen their law and in the event that they arrest these thugs they must also take their wealth and give it to the treasury.

I don't believe Nigerians are still this stupidd. MTN Nigeria employs Nigerians and is Nigerians who violated the law not South Africans. Nigerians are always lawless objects everywhere they go. What happened is a proof that you can never take any Nigerian in the driving seat particularly those other than Igbos. He is letting his people down not South Africans because we as South Africans we excel in business particularly when we are heading foreign corporations in our own country. Look what are they doing with the English brand of beer, Guiness stout? They don't wash bottles and distribute beers in those very same dirty bottle which some have cockroaches inside. Who are doing that? Is it not Nigerians? Why do you blame the English? Why do you blame South Africans? They themselves tarnish the name of the FDIs which invest in their own country where after blame foreigners for flaunting their laws. Stipidddity of the highest order. They are misrepresenting them big time.
What message does it send to the foreign investors? If you are planning on investing in Nigeria please bring your own staff with and allocate only cleaning jobs to Nigerians. If you are Nissan, Toyota, Microsoft, etc, please bring your staff with from own country or you will be hurt.
The world come and see how stupidddd are law makers of Nigeria ooooh.

Ouch!!!! They do not see that is a weapon of self-destruction. Nigerian lawmakers all suffer from poor judgement. They are truly sending a message to the world that never put Nigerians in strategic positions in any company. Wonder why SA is today a gateway of FDIs in Africa? That is because they have confidence in us. For many years TOYOTA, NISSAN, COCACOLA, etc know that we have been running their brands safely away from being slammed with heavy fines. That's why when Nigeria contacted Japan for a NISSAN deal they were sent straight to SOUTH AFRICA to ask whether we agree or not. That is because JAPAN has confidence in South Africans.

Now you get this stu-pid Buhari who goes around blaming MTN for the death of 10 000 Nigerians as if MTN was carrying guns literally killing people. Nigerian federal government has responsibility for protecting its citizens by employing best security measures and they have failed to deliver in that respect, that's why they are now shifting the blames. We all know how all the North-Eastern Nigeria was reduced to the stone age by having its network cut from the national coverage and the only telecommunication device that could work was a satellite phone or radio. Let these fools stop blaming other people for their own woes which they invited to themselves. If they are cash stripped they could have just nicely asked for financial help from MTN other than concocting lies. MTN which is today paying for thousands of their students who are studying here in South Africa.

Denel’s Casspir now comes with firepower options

That it can now be fitted with 81mm mortar systems‚ anti-tank and anti-aircraft weapons makes the Casspir the “most cost-effective vehicle in its class in the world”.

That’s according to arms manufacturer Denel‚ which on Monday said the “versatility and range of Denel’s Casspir mine-protected vehicles has been expanded to accommodate the firepower requirements of different clients”.

“This will attract the interest of defence clients looking for a versatile and cost-effective family of mine-resistant vehicles.”

And‚ not only can “clients…select the type and range of firepower required to be fitted‚ the new variants of the Casspi 2000 can be fitted with the Plofadder mine-clearing system.

Ashley Williams‚ general manager of Mechem – Denel’s mine-clearing division – said this is a reponse to “opportunities in defence markets where clients need a single platform with a number of variants to meet operational requirements”.

Denel said it “is now able to produce a tailor-made Casspir according to the requirements of the client”‚ by fiiting “different modules…onto the standard platform system and then modified according to client specifications”.

“Our clients can now use the same family of vehicles that offer superior levels of protection and mobility‚ but in different roles‚” said Williams.

http://www.timeslive.co.za/local/2016/02/29/Denel’s-Casspir-now-comes-with-firepower-options

Oh!!! That's a great news. So, casspir can now fire mortars, anti tank missiles, anti aircraft, artillery, etc.

Casspir is a killer.

She should[sup][/sup] offer transfer of technology of Rooivalk to Sweden in exchange for Gripen's and Swedish goverment would be all over that.

The french will gladly license/tot of their tech with right price, Dassault Rafale engine.

Yes, that is possible. The minister only awaits approval, that's why she told the parliament straight to their faces that you leave me with no choice. I will continue sending them to other parts of the world because when I request money to buy necessary assets, you make noise. I think now they have heard, particularly EFF. What is now left is for EFF to be convinced that aircrafts which are already in the museum cannot be recovered as they are already resting on their graves. I am pleased that minister managed to sway them and now they can see that indeed there is a pressing need. Now is the time for Airbus and many companies to start flocking once again in Pretoria. The fat cheque is on the way.

With regard to Rooivalk, if Sweden or France can come in with the possible exchange of TOT of their fighters, that will indeed be a killer blow that will help stimulate the economy of SA.

I have never made such submission. All I am saying is that even pirates know that from Angola down to the far South, the water is infested with Sharks(submarines) and Crocodiles(Frigates) and that's why when they hijack ships anywhere near Angola, they would always head towards the North. If they head towards at least they are rest assured that they stand 80% chances to succeed and towards the South the success rate is zero. They wouldn't just take the risk of falling prey to sharks and crocodiles, rather would go the route where there are plenty of dolphins in the North.

#JustPassingAgain

What an excellent speech by the minister. She is using a strategy to convince the opposition that new assets are needed. The problem is that when SAAF wants to buy new planes, the opposition always opposed it by asserting that it was wasteful expenditure. Now, she is using a clever strategy that "since you do not want government to buy new aircrafts, then we will continue sending our pupil pilots to Russia and Cuba to get their wings". In this case the opposition will have no choice but to go with the flow and allow the government to buy new aircrafts, I mean brand new aircrafts. The aircrafts she is referring to are those that were used by old apartheid air force and now are in the museum because they were actioned to the public by apartheid government. They can never be recovered because they are old and belong to the museum. Soon, opposition will give in and SAAF will announce a new arms deal of procuring new aircrafts. Among them will be maritime, transporters, etc. The mission has just began. Good luck Madam Minister by putting it straight to their faces that you cannot complain about pupil pilots being sent to other countries while you always oppose Air Force from going shopping. They will just have to give the minister a fat cheque to go on shopping and bring us brand new assets and not hand outs. They will just have to allow among others for the new Rooivalks, transporters, Maritime aircrafts, etc.

1. The European ship hijacked in Angolan waters was in your backyard SADC region, the deadness and uselessness of SANF navy allowed it to escape from SADC to ECOWAS where Nigeria intercepted the pirates after Angola cried to Nigerian navy for help. Valour corvettes and Heroine submarines could not catch just one pirate ship in your own backyard of Angolan waters.

2. CITATION NEEDED !!!

Your SAN does not train with India every year, they invited you for a one week training this year NOT every year you liar !!! Nigerian navy SF are training with Indian navy SF and our navy has been asked to make our big ships, air drones, and incoming sea drones available to help India when they call us for many years ahead. Long term joint agreement is what we have, but one week visiting visa is all that India gave you, because that is all SAN is worth.

SAN does not work in Angola but in Cape town. If the ship is hijacked in Angola and the pirates head towards your direction do you mean someone as far as SA should be called to come to rescue when the pirates have headed towards your direction.

Pirates do not want to play this side because they know that here is a stop station, you just don't pass. That's why we say that wherever there are sharks nobody would dare to swim.

I guess the Indians know better that Southern Africa is safe and the only troubled region is west Africa where pirates walk in the park for as long they like. A stupidd man is the one that thinks missiles cannot miss a target. Human have their own weaknesses even though the missile were created to be perfect by following the laser. Remember, how long can you hold on the laser beam tightly locked to the target the size of a pin? Surely you wouldn't do it longer.

American Apache, Hind and every gunship out there have been missing targets like hell. So what do you say? Mokopa is not a problem and will always go to where is directed by the laser and it is evident that somehow the person that was aiming the target with a laser slightly missed. Mokopa yes, can shoot up to 10Km. Whether it misses the target or not, the problem will be squarely blamed on the one who positioned the laser in to the target. If the rifle bullet range is 500m, it does not mean at 500m it will surely hit the target. It means at that distance it can hit the target depending on the accuracy of the shooter.

Nigeria surely but slowly becomes a home capital of the greatest foolish people. No wonder you are importing toothpicks and toothbrushes.

Unless you are a witchdoctor you can see submarines down there. The man is not speaking about anti-submarine warfare equipments or else he could have told that submarine could be detected by using ASW equipments but also submarines have own self defence mechanism not to give away its position by using passive sonar.

So is 50/50, you can search for submarine and still not find it and you can search and luckily find it. Submarines are stealth and do not give their positions easily. You can search for days with nothing to find.

South Africa=Europe=America. Same.

The bottom line is that weapons might be somehow close to perfection but human error is always a factor. You must know that it is not easy at all to keep a laser beam tightly locked onto a target the size of a pin. Many militaries in the world have been missing targets many a times throughout their history and if you are part of military that will not even scare you at all. Russia recently missed four targets in Syria with their most trusted missiles but we understand because we are in the military.

Civilians like Agaugust and Henry won't understand at all. They would expect 100% done job. They will rule out the reality that God never created us to be perfect like machines. Remember, it is us humans who control those machines and it is us who cause them to be ineffective because of our limited sight.

I read how he (agaugust) claimed that a missile with a maximum range of 8KM would have to be launched at that range. That is a child mentality and what he claims is virtually impossible. That man recently reasons like a child, a baby for that matter.

Once a fool, always a fool. It is very impossible for a missile to hit a target using another platforms (gripen) laser beam and launch a missile at a long range of over 8km and still narrowly missed the target. It is not an easy task. Currently, there is no any gunship that can do that, not even Apache AH-64.

I quote:

The first firing involved the Rooivalk successfully firing the missile at a target that was laser designated from the ground. The second firing the following day was not quite as smooth - the target was laser designated by a Gripen flying overhead. The Rooivalk launched the missile at a range of 8 km, which followed the laser beam from the Gripen, but narrowly missed the target Quote closed.

That means the mighty ROOIVALK can do what other gunships cannot do by demolishing targets using other platforms laser beams and not its own laser designators. grin

HENRY DOES NOT UNDERSTAND THIS AND NEITHER IS AGAUGUST.

Those are the capabilities of Rooivalk, meaning Gripen and other platforms can as well laser guide weapons lauched by Rooivalk to take out Air defence systems.

What those two fools don't know is that Mokopa is a long range precision guided munition that requires great deal of training to master. It has a 10 km range and most powerful attack helicopters in the world do not use weapons of that calibre. They will have to know that at that distance gunships barely see the target and at times will depend on secondary platforms like ground laser beams and other fighter jets laser beams. That was why SANDF firstly dragged their feet to acquire Mokopa because it would require further costs for training in order to use such a long range ATGM. Those two guys still have a lot to learn about military hardwares.

● 100 IPVs all brand new purchased 2016 Jan-Feb-Mar."

Bhahahahahahaja… you are the biggest joke of the century.

Tell us why would your navy want to buy only 49 ships in ten years when they already have 500 ships?

Go and tell those tales to your ancestors.

grin

May I remind you that your navy is still US Navy's charity case.

Denel has subsidiaries some of which are privately owned companies that have private individual shareholders, Matthys Jacons can own shares in those smaller companies that Denel acquired controlling shares in, and the joint business venture makes him an indirect shareholder in Denel, that is world standard company law of direct and indirect equity and the global law of minority interest shareholdings, which is the principle of commercial law, logic and law that a South African brain cannot understand.

"LMT Holdings is a privately-owned engineering and manufacturing company established in 1999. It adds to the Denel Group a capacity for mine-protected vehicles, hulls and cabs as well as product testing, simulations, maintenance and support of products."

LOL, same Matthys guy that ALL you Southies were praising here for speaking military facts against Augustine on Angolan Su-30 jets Vs SAAF Gripens, now you ALL call him a liar because he said A-Darter has 40% imported foreign manufactured components, he is now fake military analyst, a liar, and a bad South African grin grin

....the guy claims to be an SANDF officer who meets pilots of other African air forces in their homeland air force bases, yo need to prove he works in a bank, HSBC bank.

"I've actually visited both countries and I've seen their aircraft as well and met some of their pilots. They do have some capable pilots however they still make use of Ukrainian and Russia Pilots for various reasons.

In theory they are the only two sub Saharan African countries that have engaged in BVR aerial combat. However it's moot as to whether they continued their training after the war ended. Ethiopia perhaps but Eritrea much like Angola failed to work on the momentum it had."

Bwahahahahahaa…

Agaugau nobody can claim to have shares in denel. Denel is 100% owned by the state and if it decides to acquire majority shares of a certain company named AGAUGUST. that will mean the state will control 51% of the company AGAUGUST and private people will own 49% and none of those people can ever claim to have shares in Denel. The will have shares in AGAUGUST company and not denel. You claim to have studied business but you are just mogo. That venture will best be described as PPP, public-private partnership. Nobody has shares on denel. Denel can be on a joont venture with private people or companies, locally and abroad but that will not meab that those people or companies have shares on DENEL. That guy is telling lies.

Since you have confessed that there is no proof of who is who on internet, how do you keep insisting that the Augustine on beegeagles blog is the same person as auaugust on Nairaland, how did you confirm that, you have reliable proof?

THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE DOING.

Meanwhile, A-Darter missile of DENEL is ONLY 30% South African.

40% imported parts from Europe, the remaining 60% parts shared by Brazil and South Africa at 30% each.

A-Darter missile is proudly European-South African-Brazilian made product grin grin grin

I know that you don't have money and because of your poor background you must go and see a free government psychiatrist to treat your mental problem.
