agaugust:NPO Nash really fooled you including many jurnos for registering kondor E as civilian satellite when it was infact a military spy satellite which was meant to be treated with confidentiality. Bwahahaha… You fell to a trap agaugau. |
agaugust:The wealth of any country cannot be measured in terms of the size of GDP. The source is very unreliable and unscientific. The wealth of any country is measured using GDP per capita to see how much a person is worth in that particular country. That source is really drank. You will fail in varsity should you refer to that source. In fact, the source should have said " countries with the biggest GDP" |

agaugust:Agaugau, the only ATGM that you have is an outdated swingfire. Since, when did you acquire Russian ATGM and please show us a proof. |
Henry120:Yet it is not economically sound. You naira sank to the bottom after you devalued it. Devaluing currency means you accepted defeat. |
The only military which is financially broke is that of Nigeria, proven by many of their commanders including their President Jonathan after he publicly admitted financial crisis within the force. The president even requested approval before the parliament to borrow $1 billion through foreign loans. Nigerian military is marred by many financial troubles of upgrading and replacing outdated equipment and even to pay their soldiers. They don't have money to do all that. No money to do battle exercises and to sharpen the skills of their fighter pilots. Nigerian military is really broke on real terms |
Henry120:Nah, that was until you decided to devalue your naira voluntarily because of the mounting pressure and yet you are expected again to devalue your currency further. Just a remainder, ZAR has more value than naira. Fact!!! SAAF does not have 9 pilots anymore as at today it their number stand safely above 15. That information of 9 pilots was in 2010 when we first received delivery of our gripen C. I proved you wrong with pictures for the new pilots who are expected to pass out in 2015 as qualified gripen pilots. |
@Henry- this is just for information. SANDF budget is expected to climb to a whooping $8-10 billion after the approval of the defence review 2014 by the parliament. mark my word. |
agaugust:Nah, that was until you decided to devalue your naira voluntarily because of the mounting pressure and yet you are expected again to devalue your currency further. Just a remainder, ZAR has more value than naira. Fact!!! |
Henry120:Bwahahahaha… So, you are changing again? Nigerias defence budget is $4.5 billion if we were to count it with today's rates for naira against dollar. You are a pathetic liar, Mr Henry. Your Nigerian defence budget is no better to SANDF. For many years your defence have been allocated a budget worth less than $3 billion, year after year and that of SANDF had always been above $4 billion. Just for the first time in your history competing with SANDF budget, you already feel like you have conquered all. |
Henry120:Mr Henry, you threw yourself under the bus this time. Surely, well see you next year after this embarrassment of being caught lying. Nigeria is broke, they can never afford a budget of $8 billion, that will kill Nigeria financially. However, they could only afford $4.5 billion as at today since your naira has sunk down to the bottom against american dollar. |
patches689:Thank you. My fellow countryman. I estimated the amounts almost correctly. I knew their budget was not above $6 billion. That came after their President wanted to borrow an additional $1 billion from abroad. Thank you very much for correcting him. It must also be noted that their budget is combined with that of the police. Nigeria is one country that also allocate small budget for their defence. It had always been the case for many years. |
Henry120:Nigeria's defence and security budget is not $8 billion, the correct amount is $6 billion correction: $5 billion. Over the years Nigeria's defence budget was always a mere $2.8 billion. SA defence budget is not $3 billion and even in the past 10 years, it had always been above $4 billion. The correct budget for 2014 was $ 4.8 billion. SA security budget is over $10 billion, Thank you. So, tell me who had more money? |
It takes minimum of five years for a pilot to qualify as gripen fighter pilot. In 2010 when SA received their gripen C we had almost 8 pilots and 2 navigators and has since multiplied slowly to 14 pilots and 4 navigators, but now things have changed. The new kids on the blog will add to that number to make it 26 in 2015/16. Just keep on watching this space. We are going forward surely but slowly. I guote : To solo on the Gripen should typically take new pilots five years, 2 Squadron's operations officer, Lt Col Musa “Midnite” Mbhokota told journalists in October. This includes basic military training (three months), officers forming course (a further three months), the Military Academy (one year) and basic pilot training (one year). The latter includes 180 hours on the Pilatus PC7 MkII. Next follows some 390 hours on the Hawk at 85 CFS before posting to 2 Squadron where conversion to the Gripen takes place, starting with six weeks in the classroom followed by 70 hours on the Squadron Level Mission Trainer (a flight simulator) and a further 70 hours on the aircraft. Both periods include 30 hours of conversion training, 20 hours of air warfare training and 20 hours of surface warfare training. It then takes a further six sorties to solo. http://www.defenceweb.co.za/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=11203:saaf-boasts-23-fighter-aircrew&catid=35:Aerospace&Itemid=107 |
move forward, step by step.
|
Moving forward slowly but surely.

I really like it, new fighter pilots on the block. http://www.saairforce.co.za/news-and-events/1326/saaf-gains-ten-new-pilots

sirjerry:Sorry to disappoint you, we've claimed the title three times. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Miss_World_titleholders |
agaugust:Yet you were technically and historically incorrect. You quoted incidences out of context and you failed to also note that Argentinian jets were also shot down on the process. You also failed to note that the naval SAM and Air defence system has revolutionised from 1986 to date. The only advanced SAM in the folklands war could only achieve a range of 3km and were not radar operated. The valour class of today is more sophisticated and advanced that the British frigates that sank in 1982. Sorry!! sir you bounced. |
agaugust:I just wonder how will the base bleed help you in this discussion. Remember, I just only agree with your claim yet without a proof. By the way base bleed shells are not something to boast about, they are very cheap and can be afforded by many militaries across the world. SA manufacture base bleed ammo and VLAP, so it is not something one can make a noise about. I saw BB shells many a times at combat center being fired by gunners from Potchefstroom, the very city where those shells are being manufactured under Denel-Rheinmettal. |
agaugust:Wahahaha.... You have such a good plans to destroy valour class, and unfortunately no fighter can eject free fall bombs at that height. Remember, jets are not helicopters where they can remain stationery in the sky at one point for longer. Ejecting free fall bombs at that height is a waist of energy and time. My advice is just admit that F7 will not defeat valour class. Modern warships with advanced SAM and air defence system can only be defeated from the distance by cruise missile which can be discharged from 100 km away. However, any warship with a good CISW system can also destroy long range cruise missiles. |
agaugust:Agaugust, your F7 will not defeat the valour class, period. |
agaugust:India currently is testing only Bofors guns with 52L barrel. They are looking for a replacement of their 39L with 52L barrel. |
agaugust:Chief, I know and that was only to show you that umkhonto missiles of better range are also still on the way. However, F7 would still not be able to beat that 15 km range. You simply took incidences that happened during the folklands war and completely forgotten that the air defence system of warships has since advanced. in 1982 the only better system that was better was sea wolf with a range of 3kms and still British warships managed to shoot down four of Argentinian fighter jets. Today, the system has since developed by lessons learnt from that war. Warships are more dangerous than ever against any plans or jet that flies above its roof. |
agaugust:Yes, you have a BB but your ordnance of your artillery guns have a 39L barrel. You still need to upgrade it to 52L to achieve a better range of 39-42km. |
agaugust:You are a real dummy. Denel CIWS fire AHEAD ammo against cruise and anti-ship missiles. Finish and Klaar. |
EVarn:Nope, Jonathan cannot go now, we love him so much. He is very good at us. No, you can't say that. |
agaugust:I do not see any importance of an Ahead ammo on the CIWS. An ordinary R4 round will penetrate F7 fighter. Meanwhile, The denel™ CIWS system uses AHEAD ammo particularly to fire at missiles. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denel_35mm_Dual_Purpose_Gun |
agaugust:We can contest over and over if we want and rule on that chair for many years. |
agaugust:That is ludicrous. SA has only 2 million households in informal settlement without electricity as at 2014/12/14. All the towns, villages and townships in SA are electrified and only those households in remote villages which are located on the mountains and where it is virtually impossible to erect poles are without electricity. |
patches689:It is worth more than that. |
