I finally visited cars45 lot at Secretariat today.

Truth be told, every car needs one serious fix or another, after purchase.
The cars weren't used right by previous owners (just my opinion).
The only advantage is that cars45's reports will let you know what fix is needed, before purchase.

I was told the good ones are usually sold almost immediately they are brought in, so I would need to check regularly for recent availabilities.

SO in my opinion THESE CARS ARE REALLY NOT RISK-FREE.
THEY SIMPLY HAVE KNOWN RISKS.

I appreciate your comments. When I said "Risk free" It means, vehicles already checked whether it's stolen, vehicle checked whether it has customs or not etc.

I finally met someone who purchased his car from cars45.

Report is that they are real. A first venture of its kind. Cars are allowed to be test driven (but I can't say how well this is done).
The vehicle history report is always pasted on the car. Study it carefully, not in a hurry.

There are also touts trying to make brisk business within the yard.
When going to check or buy a car, try to locate an original cars45 agent and ignore the touts.
Agents can be identified by their ID cards.

That said, I will find the time to go check out cars45 personally.

OP, it's probably these touts that are giving you guys bad repute.

I have been getting a couple of phone calls from people who ask about the authenticity of Cars45. They ask questions like: Will they pay me? Will my car be safe? Will they buy at a good price? Are they genuine? A man from Ibadan even asked if they would not elope with his car.

So I decided to write this review about Cars45 for those who would like to know a little about the Company.

Cars45 was founded in 2016 by Etop Ikpe (Former commercial director of Konga and former CEO of DealDey) with Iyamu Mohammed, Sujay Tyle and Peter Lindholm as co-founders. The company was established to help Nigerian car users reduce difficulties of selling their used cars and they have been doing a good job at that. They even got a N1.8 billion ($5million) funding last year.. so they probably won’t run away with your N2million car.

Their head office is located at Agidingbi, Lagos with 23 branches in Lagos, 5 in Abuja and 1 office in Port Harcourt. They are obviously the foremost car selling and auctioning platform for Nigerian used cars.

At the moment, Cars45 is the most reliable and quickest way to sell your Nigerian used car. Some of the advantages they offer are:

1) You don’t have to park your car on the road side with a “For Sale” Jerrycan on it for 3 months, all in the name of “I want to sell my car”

2) Car sellers are usually scared that prospective buyers can driver away in their car or even plant a tracking device and come steal the car in the middle of the night.

3) You get your entire sales proceed as soon as all the vehicle documents are verified. There is no “please let me pay 70% now and pay the balance next month”.

4) No buyer will come wage war against you that they shouldn’t have bought your car in the first place because they are now having problems with it. Cars45 would have done a thorough check before buying your car.

5) The company links you and your car with several buyers (mostly car dealers) through their car auction platform.. just like Copart and IAAI car auctions in USA.

Despite the company’s robust profile as well as the benefits they offer, the most valid question that runs through the mind of an average car seller is, will they buy my car at a good price? Well, the answer to the question is determined by many variables, which may be revealed during the inspection process. These include:

1) The car has been involved in a major accident in the past. Sadly, many cars on Nigerian roads fall in this category as they were imported as salvaged cars from USA auctions.

2) Incomplete documentation especially if the car does not have genuine import duty papers.

3) Poor maintenance.

4) Some high-end cars with low demand might be grossly undervalued. Note that the price they will pay for your car is largely determined by forces of demand and supply.

5) Don’t even think of selling your unregistered tokunbo car through them. It’s not Berger car market so you’ll hardly get a good price.

After selling some cars through Cars45 and sampling the opinion of some of their clients, it was easy to conclude that their prices are moderate and fair. Note, their prices are usually not meant for people who want to cash in big time when selling their cars. For example, I sold a 3-year-old 2012 Toyota Camry through Car45 in December 2017. I was compelled to patronize the company because I wasn’t getting any good offer after putting the car on the market for a month. I had posted the car advert on 4 different car sale websites, I also pasted a “For Sale” sticker on it and even parked it at a friend’s car lot in Victoria Island but no serious leads came forth. I was willing to sell for N3.2m but no buyer. I got on Cars45’s website, checked the car's proposed valuation, booked an appointment and dashed to their office to inspect the vehicle. Sadly, the inspection and processing took longer than the advertised 45 minutes, but I was pacified with a N3million offer after my 2 hours ordeal. A reasonable price to pay to end my month long search for a buyer.

In conclusion, Car45 will buy your car at a moderate and fair price, which will not make you an instant millionaire as most of us would have wanted. They also buy or help you sell your car within the fastest time in Nigeria but is it actually in 45 minutes as they’ve always advertised? I doubt because the 1 or 2 vehicle inspectors at their branches can easily get overwhelmed causing delay and the branch office also have slow internet to contend with as bulk of their processes are transmitted online to and from their head office.

Such a lovely write up.... you have said all that is needed for someone to understand how Car45 operates. This is a company that has come to stay in Nigeria saving you all the stress and troubles of buying Nigerian used cars.

The agent advised us to deposit to at least secure the car, so that it will not be sold when we come after the holiday (newyear). We deposited 6h and went home feeling fly
We arrived after the holiday completed payment and collected the papers. The battery was dead the car was jump started and we drove home
And then the nightmare started

The car now home we proceed to make it ready for business. All four tyres were changed, we got a new battery, the broken light was changed , documents was done. And then got an uber driver to take it up for rental. He was happy he liked the car

I'm sorry I have not been online for quite sometime now. I've gone through your post and I must say I understand your disappointment about the car u bought. I want to ask when did u purchase this very car and also if u can remember the name of the dealer that sold that particular car to u? My brother, those saying they were not allowed to test are not saying the truth, u have every right to test drive the car and if not satisfy u back out. Request to test drive the car not just seeing the report.

Run away as fast as you can when you hear cars45. They are out to deceive you. My experience with them is terrible.
I bought a corolla 2009 @ 1.7m from them in January, 2018. Before purchase they refuse to present the true state of the car. You are only allow to move the car forward and back. You can't detect any defect in Gear, the legs of the car or the true state of whole drive train.

Current the car is still at the mechanic shop, complete drive train is bad costing over N180,000.00, AC systems costing N95,000.00, Electrical and gear systems still awaiting bill.

If I had been permitted to test drive the car. When I complained to them, their excuse was that I came with my mechanic for inspection.
Mechanic can't detect if gear is shifting without driving, neither will he detect a bad drive train.

Be warn. Run away. I am seriously regretting now

I'm so sorry for what u are passing through. The truth is this, our cars have car reports which will tell u about the actual conditions of the car before purchase and it is mandated for the dealer to show u the report or better still ask for the car report. I want to clear one thing here sir, I believe u are not aware that u have every right to ask for the car report and if not given, it is now the fault of the dealer that sold the car to u to take responsibility. And again, these are Nigeria used cars that people sell to us and we resell the same car without any repair done but must have proper conducted our check by our reputable and professional Technicians that give a near 100% details about the conditions of the cars. Theses we have to show any potential buyer and prepare his/her mind about what to fix in the car.
There is no where in the country when u want to buy a car that a comprehensive car report is shown to u that tells u about the present condition of the car, it is only our company that does so. So my brother I'm so sorry about the situation.
PLEASE, take a look up and see instructions asking u to request for car report & also for u to come along with yr mechanic/Technician to double check the car before purchase.
