Please read again. The pilot chose to do the lift to avoid ramming into the 747...he simply sacrificed his own plans and reduced number of casualties.
Racoon: I still remember this disaster. I was in the University then. It was a news the world watched in horror. It is understandable that air disasters are always catastrophic and fatal.
What a terrible end for the doomed passengers watching themselves helplessly to their own deaths because of pilots errors. Worst is the pilot should have listened to his first Officer and abort the takeoff.
A Concorde that never had any fatality over 20 years of its beautiful existence suddenly had one! And that kill the future prospect & advancement of aviation science in that line. What a sad end for the Concorde.
Abeg let the indomie generation here learn history and the future pilots to be learn a thing or two so that lives will be preserved.
It's indeed unfortunate. Many will be sacrificed home and abroad by a combination of local and international oppressors. If we don't rise, we will be killed anyway. Choose your killing wisely. Die fighting for what is right or die looking for what is right.
Rugaria: Thousands of Nigerians have died so stupidly in many countries of the world. If I tell you of the kind of stories I have heard about young Nigerians disappearing in Asia, you will shout. Many have been locked up to die for simple immigration offences. I remember mentioning this here some time in the past and someone turned it into an ethnic slugfest. Nigerians jumping off high rises just because they're running away from the immigration officers. It's so demoralizing. While most times, our boys are responsible for these sorts of treatments because of their wild behaviors, it has to be stated that in certain cases, racist disdain for the black color, which is very rampant amongst Asian security agencies, motivates some of these actions. Asians are more aggressively open with their racism towards blacks. The whites might try to hide theirs, the Asians will be crude with their displays.
The Nigerian government should be more specific in terms of the way the young ones are educated on this very issue. The dangers associated with these kinds of adventure should be taught in secondary and tertiary institutions, so that graduates trying to travel, should be mentally prepared and alert in these places. Again, stowaway, crossing the desert and all these desperate means of traveling out of Africa, are nothing but suicidal ventures these days. Folks should be educated about these dangers. Many Nigerian girls trying to cross the desert into Libya, have been abducted by very violent men from all these desert tribes! Many men killed for fun! Many have been abandoned in the middle of the Sahara desert and died in the most brutal ways possible. Few years ago, there was also a report in South Africa about some Nigerians dropped off like this into the Ocean by a Spanish ship. Apparently, they were led ashore by some dolphins or so.
you are coming from a totally different perspective. Is it only IT guys in banks that are leaving? What of healthcare guys, other professionals? are they fraudsters too? i say again, don't mislead people with these skewed perspective f yours. speak for yourself. your choice to stay is your choice. don't dish out 'misleading' info.
FreeStuffsNG: Is it really brain drain? It is more of a sweeping purge of fraudulent IT staffers after persistent complaints of Nigerians and NDIC frustration that banks are too scared to report these fraudulent staff to regulators.
Most of them committed the fraud and japa but they are deceiving themselves; they will still be caught eventually. Karma does not rest
The brighter side is that our bank I.T related frauds may now go down. Just few days ago, I read an official notice that Access Bank just brought in an I.T guru as their Executive Director for that segment to keep most of these fraudulent ex-staff away from deposits of innocent Nigerians.
Nigerian Banks are now very conservative in that area and extra careful before hiring IT guys. They may soon be outsourcing it like cash in transit service that comes with insurance or go for foreigners head hunted by reputable global HR coys.
If you are a Nigerian who is upright, smart and patriotic, well known in the industry as smart, honest and faithfully competent, right now, even if they fire you one day, they will come back and beg you to come back; your kind are scarce now and in high demand!
Below is a report by BusinessDay:
According to the NIBSS, fraud-related transactions reportedly cost Nigerian banks on average N14 billion in losses annually. These figures, some within the banking sector, believe are understated.
The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) in 2018 sought to investigate some banks for the inadequate rendition of returns to the Corporation on instances of fraud, forgeries, and cases involving members of their staff who were either dismissed or had their appointments terminated on grounds of fraudulent activities. The NDIC made the decision in the light of the report from its Off-Site Supervision of the banks, which revealed the number of fraud cases attributed to internal abuse by staff of banks increased from 231 in 2016, to 320 in 2017, or 38.53 percent above the figure reported for the previous year.
Today, e-banking frauds have developed into a mega industry where cyber criminals deploy sophisticated tools to steal information and scam account holders. The list of bank frauds perpetrated online is endless.
So this is all that matters to you. Shake my head for your generation and the next and the next
laidima88: Muslims in south west are being marginalized at federal politics, u hardly see a northern Christian running for president which might give chance for a southern Muslim as vice, All northern presidential candidate all have Christian southerners as their vice and no complain from Muslims in the south, tinubu has to step down for osinbajo just to satisfy this southern xtains whom are majorly the beneficiary of this system There is no how we can avoid Muslim Muslim ticket cos Muslims are significant it SW, tell ur Christian brothers in the north to be more active in politics. When its is southerners turn u claim a Muslim from the north just finish despite being the vice. And when northerners field in a candidate u have the chance as vice being southern Christians, and if a southern Muslim emerge u claim a Muslim muslim ticket can't work, how do we offend southern Christians southern Muslims too have the right to vice a northern candidate.
nijaomegacode: May more of you pass away untimely inshallah.
Brother, and this is Daawah? Abu Sufyan Khalid Bin Waalid and several sahabas lived long enough to have the opportunity to be better. Your type birthed Boko Haram.
I feel you. Maybe we need to have a new perspective to teaching. What most of us don't understand (especially in our reality in Nigeria) is that teaching is SERVICE TO HUMANITY. You teach because you want to impact people, the young ones and leave a part of you to continue to exist even after you are no more. Teaching is beautiful. This is a guide to being a teacher. 1. Do it as a way of giving back to society. 2. Do it at your convenience; you've probably built yourself as a professional in other more economically rewarding fields; you are 'made', so you choose to give back to society. 3. When you do choose to teach, you can organize private sessions where you teach select learners. Remember, you aren't hungry, just the need to impact. What is more, if you do choose to earn from it, this helps you earn more. 4. Love what you do. 5. Never, never, never cheapen yourself and become a willing tool to slave drivers in the name of PRIVATE SCHOOLS; they will use you (even against your own wish, like in malpractices) and dump you when they think convenient.
chii8: Hmmm........ teaching is a modern day slavery.Yes,the students will encourage you but immediately they graduate from higher institution, they seem to forget you.We just work because we have conscience and not because of the wicked salary we receive. During the lockdown, private school teachers saw hell.Teachers are mostly frustrated and depressed except those ones who have accommodating and lovely family members.
My children by God's grace will never teach.I want to receive my reward here on earth as a teacher, teachers don't even have enough money to take care of their selves when they are sick, they are always managing....
keep doing what you do. It will grow someday. be positive about it. If you can find ways to also do quality videos and content, it will be really helpful.
BinamRex: Teaching is mentally draining, but I have to do it because I have no other options. I recently started a Youtube channel where I teach English. I have 5 subscribers and I hope to grow the channel. God help me. It's not easy bro. I shoot videos with my phone and edit it with Capcut. I just hope that people love my content and not pay too much attention to the poor quality of my videos.
families like this will continue to grow cos they'll always manage their issues well. maybe Nigeria is as failed as it is because of the large number of families who will rather pull themselves down than uplift themselves. i really think it accounts for the state of the country!
Let's these facts speak in no unclear language. This is where APC and Buhari has brought us. Who should rather make recommendations for us? A failed APC government?
OkCornel: A summary of Tinubunomics from 2014 till date.
Nigerians are now swimming in cheap crude oil and fuel.
You can go on and on. The same way Buhari was promoted with uncountable good deeds in 2014. Today, he has completely wrecked our beloved country. Except for individuals like you and others like you, who are direct beneficiaries of the wreckage Nigeria has become. Tinubu is as competent as he's corrupt. The same native intelligence he has for governance is the same he has for criminality.
Please, bro, stop deceiving people. Tinubu has nothing in store to save Nigeria with, except to line the pockets of people like you as he's always done for all his loyalists everywhere. chop I chop government.
You and your household can queue behind him. Your bogus pay checks will come through that means. But please leave Nigerians alone. The wreckage Tinubu and his ilks have done for Nigeria is enough!
PS: I give no hoot about Atiku, Obi or any other presenting himself. They are all crooks. But please don't insult my senses by calling white black!
FreeStuffsNG: This was exactly how they killed Twitter with their bigotry and hatred for Asiwaju Tinubu ( and President Buhari) because he is not from their tribe and religion.
These minority hate him so much and have hated him since 2015 as he keeps defeating them and their sponsors. So they will go to all evil extent including bringing down the labour of others just to blame him for being better than those less competent candidates they support. Yet they will still lose.
The website obviously does not own the documents it purportedly uploads. It must have been catfished. They are going down.
They are welcome to ipob terrorists and their co-conspirator's brand of badluck.
The website owners will watch their descent into badluck after badluck in the same way these same set of losers afflicted Twitter with badluck upon badluck.
Before their very own eyes, they will see how everything they have built will be wrecked with badluck. They do not know how to build o but they know how to destroy the platforms others have built.
To my fellow patriotic Nigerians, please ignore the naysayers, bigots and hate-filled terrorists losers and their sympathizers and vote for Asiwaju Tinubu.
Asiwaju Tinubu is the most capable and the most competent among all the Presidential candidates. Vote for Asiwaju Tinubu.
All the enemies of Nigeria and all the enemies of Asiwaju Tinubu will lose las las. They always lose. May God bless Nigeria for ever.
Why do I want you to vote for Asiwaju Tinubu?
Please vote for Asiwaju-Shettima if you want the best and most competent pair to take Nigeria to greater heights.
Asiwaju Tinubu deserves your vote because he is the best among them.
Asiwaju Tinubu towers over all of them in terms of competency and illustrous records of feats in public service Please vote for Asiwaju Tinubu.
Asiwaju Tinubu is extremely competent and capable to lead Nigeria to greater heights. He is an excellent experienced public administrator and a Patriot to the core.
Asiwaju Tinubu is a brilliant visionary leader who will keep his promise to take Nigeria to greater heights.
I may need to take you down memory lane of his account of stewardship in public office in case you do not know or trying to ignore the significance of Asiwaju's sterling performance in office as a reason he is being rewarded with support today.
As the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Tinubu recovered what is now called Eko Atlantic from the raging Atlantic ocean Lagos Bar beach coast line flooding (for decades that problem even some of the more developed nations explain away as climate change problems) defied all solutions by FG and the highbrow strategic Victoria Island was deteriorating fast with businesses, embassies, hotels etc exiting VI in droves. During that time, the Atlantic ocean flooding reach the fringes of Ozumba after the flood completely take over Adetokunbo Ademola. Lagos State Government under the brilliant , resourceful and hardworking Asiwaju Tinubu solved that herculean challenge and today, VI is back to its glory.
It was Asiwaju Tinubu that brought back the Lagos Central Business District and Broad street commercial nerve centre of Nigeria back to life after it was abandoned, it's Asiwaju Tinubu who built major roads from Oregun to Lawanson to Igando LASU to as far as Badagry etc.
Asiwaju Tinubu is the one who fixed the horrible waste problem we had in Lagos and that LASTMA and BRT you see were created by Asiwaju. Asiwaju Tinubu was the one who got Lagos State to be part of the owners of Econet and unlike Delta State where the shares were sold and funds pocketed, Lagos State Shares were warehoused with professional investors in the state investment agency called Ibile holdings.
Asiwaju Tinubu increased bursaries to students of Lagos State origin (NULASS) and made public schools free for all Lagosians regardless of your tribe, religion or political party affiliation after his administration had successfully returned missionary schools to their original owners( other states later copied Lagos) . It was during his tenure that Ikeja General Hospital became a teaching Hospital, upgraded most of the clinics to General Hospitals giving free health to the 5 years and below and Lagosians of 65 years and above age group. .
The fund that BRF used to quickly build infrastructures were the LGA funds withheld by Pa Obasanjo and despite that Asiwaju Tinubu never owed salaries. When the purchase of FG refineries by Alhaji Dangote was cancelled by HE Yardua, Alhaji Aliko Dangote ran to Asiwaju Tinubu after most state governments and governors in the SS gave Dangote a cold shoulder. Today, through the assistance Asiwaju Tinubu gave Aliko Dangote, Dangote Refinery is taking off to help us stop the petrol subsidy killing our naira and public finances.
Asiwaju Tinubu is loyal to those who paid the ultimate price for our democracy and today heroes like Bagauda Kalto, Pa Alfred Rewane, Pa Abraham Adesanya etc are immortalized in Lagos . One of the most memorable achievements of Asiwaju Tinubu for me was helping to stop the blood letting and recurring Hausa-Yoruba/OPC war in Idi Araba and Agege. Those hellish period of unrest defied even the effort of past military state administrators of Lagos but Asiwaju Tinubu was able to solve it.
That Lagos State Government civil service is regarded as the best in Nigeria is due to the hardwork Asiwaju Tinubu did to reform it, created Tutors-Generals offices, improved harmonized pay structure, best pension scheme for civil servants etc. I can go on and on to educate you on the legacies of Asiwaju Tinubu still standing till today as my reasons for my confidence in Asiwaju Tinubu sir/ma
That's why my appeal goes to you my fellow patriotic Nigerians to please vote for Asiwaju Tinubu. Please vote for Asiwaju Tinubu. -Sunkanmi Vaughan If you want free business ideas and directory of money sources, please check my signature. Cheers.
No doubt, Buhari has been a disappointment. That he won a 2nd term in 2019 confirms something is very wrong in Nigeria. As at then, it was clear he failed. Atiku's 'massive' votes, at nearly 12 M (despite allegations of corruption hanging round his neck)was a testimony to Buhari's failure.
If people learn at all, then his chosen successor (BAT) should stand no chance. ... Unfortunately, this is Nigeria where we fall in the same hole, over and over again.
aRE YOU A TEacHER? IF You've been iN tHIS Sector, I guess you'll understand a loT. the QUoTA for 350k SALARY is TOO TINY...ITS NEGLIGIBLE. available space is highly booked. ASiDE QUALIFICATioNS, TOO MANY fActors are involved. if you've been here (teacher sector), you'll understand. MeanwhiLE AT LEAST (TO BE MODEST) 85% OF SCHOOLS FALL IN THE 30K CATEGORY. THERE'S A HIGHER CHANCE a teacher WILL FALL in This CATEGORY THAN NOT. PROBABILITY - MATH TOPIC HERE. reality, it's either you are in or nOT. CHOOSE TO BE A tEACHER oR nOT.
Romanoff: As much as we say teachers earn peanuts, there are some amongst them that earn as decent enough pay.
So would teachers not aspire to a level where they can earn good wages?
Is there a price to pay? Of course.
It's the same reason and inexperienced graduate of accounting won't earn the same with someone with ICAN, ACCA, MBA and years of experience.
Romanoff: Depends on the location and other teaching certification you have.
I know teachers earning way above 300k monthly.
wE DECEIVE OURSELVES WITH ARGUMENTS LIKE THIS! is this the norm? What % of teachers earn this? For those that do, what guarantees are there on the job? The education sector is a failed sector already. Meanwhile, a school needs Science/Math, English, Social sciences teachers. Salary negotiable. Accommodation available. Days of work negotiable. Qualifications NCE, Bsc Faith any, Muslim prefarable Location: Agbara, Lagos/Ogun States If interested or know people interested, please send cv to folusojimoh@gmail.com
People will have varying reasons to rejoice at this news and subsequently throw in arms and legs to get BAT in power in 2023.
For the average supporting folk they are either doing so for their self interests which understandably they'll protect or just simply foolish - thinking that the change that didn't come since 1999 (23 years ago) will now happen in 2023. The same foolishness they've lived with all these years.
Please know that BAT will only strengthen all the corrupt institutions and individuals he has created in the last 25 years. He gives you egg to collect a cow.
So when you vote this corrupt despot know you are helping in strengthening Agbérós, touts, thieves and all that is associated with his empire who have taken properties, lives and our future from you and I for a significant part of our lives.
You are also a big part of Nigeria's problems and you contributed significantly to why it will never be great.
Enjoy your loot and success under a corrupt soul-less regime to be like BATs' but know your children and their children to come will pay the price some how some day.
When they say Nigeria can never be good, this is the meaning. They will force themselves into power even when they have nothing to offer. Nigerian youth be wiser! 8 years from now, you'll be 8 years older and would have lost substantial opportunities.
All Tinubu supporters are simply fanning the fire cooking their meals. if you know you have no benefit to gain from the man, in your best interest be wiser!
My summary 1. The management at Dana Air (if they still exist) are criminals who should be charged to court based on the findings of the report; and this can still be done. 2. The Regulatory agency guys (NCAA) should have been prosecuted, not lobbying to retain the top man. 3. Dana Air, after prosecution, should have been expelled as a company in Nigeria. 4. All MD-83 planes should have been swept out of Nigeria while others should be monitored by trustworthy regulators (if any). 5. Be wary of Indian companies. 6. My heart goes out to the family of those involved. It could have been anybody!
