I have a very strong feeling that I know you... Lemme give u a clue
Did u recently gist with someone most likely ur cousin ( my hubby) about ur hospital accommodation and bla bla he was also telling u his wifey(me) is coming over

Now to ur question have u tried Eddy? Heard he responds fast. The other alternative is to apply for d visa urself.
You're absolutely right. Thanks Dr. J. I spoke with hubby yesterday. I will try doing it myself, saw this post on getting a card I could load for baby in Walmart. Would explore that option. On the other hand i'd appreciate if you can send Eddy's details to me via Whatsapp (ask hubby) just as an option. Thanks again.

Hi Guys,

My wife gave birth to our Son at Houston NorthWest Medical Center almost 2 weeks ago. So thankful to everyone here that has helped with information one way or the other. Special thanks to @oresmum and @domrita. God bless you all.

Our Doctor, Glenn Morgan was great and did a wonderful Job. The nurses that tended to my wife were great, and overall I would say it's a hospital I would recommend to anyone. Freebies to get us started like a starter breast pump, belly waist band, similac, baby starter clothes, etc were given.

Currently we are 'free-er' what with tending to baby and trying to chase his documentation. And so far we have his BC and Passport but i'm having a hard time getting through to Tanko.

Can anyone here (maybe you have mentioned before and I missed it) offer an alternative to processing his Nigerian Visa or a better solution like a passport instead without travelling to New York?? Please any advice would be appreciated as we have limited time.

Thanks guys for all the suggestions.I called a particular shipping agent and he said its $4:50 per pound. The crib I'm considering is 125 pounds alone(without the baby walker and others in it).I think that's too expensive for me.Called their customer service line at Amazon and the guy told me that once the order gets accepted then I would definitely get it.They also have an option of waiting till all your orders are ready before they ship or they ship individually as its ready.Im just skeptical cos I haven't heard anyone send that much stuff to Abuja from Amazon.
I used PSI and buy most things from Amazon and send to Abuja (Via Houston of course). I use my work address off Herbert Macaulay in CBD Abuja as delivery address and everything is brought intact. Amazon has good tracking so I know when my items arrive Houston first. Then I place a call (sometimes, esp when I started) to the warehouse in Houston to do an inventory of all my items.

Like someone said here airfreight is 2 weeks, if there are logistics delays due to Naija customs then delivery may get to 3 weeks at best. You can call for them to hold your items so long as they don't need to keep them for too long so that all items get consolidated and sent together.

125 pounds worth of items is roughly N120,000. Is it worth ithuh Hope this helps.

This is what my wife and I like (Baby crib) and its shipping weight is around 62 pounds which is roughly N50,000 to ship down here (minus cost of crib). I don't think it's worth the hassle. I think it's better to pay N70,000 for one in the stores here in Naija.

For about N45,000 one can also get these nice Graco playards with bassinets that babies can use as a crib until they are at least big enough for it to be used as a play yard for them. Others choose to introduce their little ones to cribs from the onset.

Please experienced mammas what are your preferences as na our first be thishuh? Crib immediately or bassinets/sleepers.

Are you saying you don't see what Amazon has sent to you before your shipper ships it to Nigeria? Or are you talking of when you are in Nigeria?

From my experience with Amazon, they don't send all what you buy in one package. Your items are sent to you on different days probably because of the items coming from different sellers. How does one handle this when using a shipper and you would want to get all your things in one package?
Some shippers like mine have a retainer policy and can hold your items for at most 5 - 10 days to allow for all your items to arrive.
In my case though I am an Amazon Prime subscriber which means that most of my items gets delivered to my shipping address within 2 business days. Been using these guys since 2012 and have received every item in good condition. PSI shipping on Westpark drive Houston.

The shipper I use is in Houston. I send from Amazon to their address and they bring nationwide to Nigeria. They charge $4 to a pound of weight for Lagos residents and $4.40 for the rest of naija.
Send a pm if interested.

Ok, you are right its is then La Guardia. How much is the shuttle. That means i have to drag my box out and take the shuttle.
Even though La Guardia is in NY the traffic to get to it na die. Newark is easily accessible. NYC Airporter will take you to and from these airports.

Hello people of NL ,

please do we have anyone who has traveled to US through New York Kennedy and to connect through New york Newark for the next flight?
I will like to know how far is the two airport and how can one connect is it a walk over or by train or taxi.
2-3 hours depending on traffic on the day. New York and Newark in the State of New Jersey are very close. There is a shuttle service called NYC Airporter and I'll be using their service on the same route myself to Houston in August.

Price fluctuates between $13 - $30. Last I checked it was $27. Great deal. Check them out here: http://www.nycairporter.com/OurServices/NewarkAirportShuttle.aspx

Thanks for d info. Did u ve to ask him for d letter or paid for it? If yes, will sending him a mail do? Thanks
Hi,

You don't get to speak with the Dr's directly but an assistant or some office personnel. I was given an oral interview over the phone to get specific details. Once those were cleared we agreed on bringing our test results from Nigeria. They seemed to be satisfied with all the data they gathered. Ours will be a first so no previous history.
Anyway within 24 hours the appointment letter was sent for free with the Dr's letterhead typed and scanned. When you call the office try to be audible and clear enough. Not being clear (mostly due to our tribal accents) can deter them from gathering necessary data over the phone.

In that case they will send forms across which you are to fill, scan and return. Until they are sure, an appointment letter will be sent.
Only payment you make is the Dr's fee in full at the first appointment (it's stated in the letter).

I think they are now having their hands full for summer deliveries. Dr. Zimmerman for example couldn't accept any more Aughust deliveries or so I was told. So I think appointments should be made as soon as possible.

Hi guys,

Finally got an appointment for my wife at Houston with Dr. Glenn Morgan

Vaginal delivery: $2000 (An additional $200 for an assistant surgeon if needed mostly for C.S
Caesarean: $2600

The hospital is Houston North West Medical Center. They have a discounted maternity package that includes:

- most lab work needed and they'll accept some standard tests done down here
- Vaginal delivery for 2 day stay is $2000.
- Epidural is $650 extra if needed.
- $100 Circumcision if having a male child.

Paedetrician's fees are different but shouldn't be much. Yet to call for those prices. We now have a July appointment with the Doctor. A typed and scanned letter was sent with the doctor acknowledging acceptance and fees to be paid by first visit.

Someone asked here and these are the details.

When you put up a post like that, you are def discrediting that doctor. Everybody picked that up, even those that have no interest in that doctor.

Bia justwise, 13 oyinbo reviews out of thousands, seriously? What's this all about biko? I hate to bagger words...

How about we put up our own reviews instead?
Remember I said I thought people should be aware of what I found. Again I repeat that reviews are subjective. I didn't shove my opinion down anyone's throat. The opinions there were those of people that used her in the past. So take it easy here. If you don't agree do it politely and as you have already done, given a positive review.
So please, biko be nice as we're all here to learn.

P.S I'm still in need for Houston accommodation near NorthWest Medical Center. I remember someone stated they had an arrangement. Kindly assist with info. Intown Suites close by is it any good?

Oga justwise, there r gud reviews there too. Una no see dat one?
Again, I repeat, I have experienced Dr Huynh's services personally and will def be using her again (if no awoof package like mihs former price gets published).
I did NOT experience ANY of the negative things mentioned in those reviews al all! She was professional, very thorough, kind, answered all my questions and she insisted I do all the tests on her ob-package. She accepted all my naija test results and deciphered things in my ultrasound that my St Nicholas gynae didn't even sniff at all.
I come from a family of doctors so I am not a learner on medical practises.

Cheers!
Hi bloggerina, no one is discrediting her. Reviews are subjective and are meant to give peoples opinion on a subject. I like the fact you're backing her as you've used her services before. I just thought to share info I stumbled upon.

Please I need info on accommodation around cypress in Houston particularly from anyone who's used Houston NorthWest and Dr. Glen Morgan before.

Many Thanks.

Try Dr Jeanie Huynh at West Houston Medical Center. Her fee is 2000 whether vaginal or c section. Her email obgynh@yahoo.com. Be patient cuz they only reply emails on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
