I think the argument makes a lot of sense. But that would only be at the beginning of the RLship if it succeeds. In a little while they both should level up and sort of stand on equal footing.
If one partner continues to feel like he/she has had to shortchange his/herself, condescension results, resentment builds up and issues will arise naturally. It will become a case of 'you should thank your stars you have me' and that will be the beginning of the end.

yea i totally agree with you, although another theory i see is, girls always think they re the settlers, you know with the guy doing the toasting and all, but after they've settled, status rapidly changes especially if the guy is still young and still's got wild oats to sow.

Some people are not happy with themselves so they are constantly reaching in relationships even though they are not at a disadvantage. Just as some people always feel the need to "date down" because they are trying to over compensate for a perceived weakness.

yea, its mostly perception based, but the perception itself is based on physical facts, like i have seen situations were the guy is clearly more handsome and hotter than the girl, and the girl might be short. It definitely makes the girl the reacher cos she would be always jealous and insecure.
