Ricky Rozay: I think you will have to deposit the money into the airlines Bank account or so... Wait for Bigfrancis, he will explain further to you because he has used Flyemirate and he has even paid since 3 months ago.... So he knows much about how their payment process goes....
Ok. But the booking says:

Dear Flynbird

Thank you for making your booking on-line with Emirates.com. Below are the details of your itinerary.
Important information about your tickets for this booking.
You have opted to hold the reservation and pay later. Your tickets must be paid for and collected before 08:00 hrs on 12 Aug, local time in Murtala Muhammed Airport. Failure to do so will mean that the booking is automatically cancelled on expiry of the time limit............

From their email I don't think they accept bank deposit but cash payment at their office. Not sure. I'll just wait for Bigfrancis

I just got Emirates for $1,206.8USD which is N193,184. It's got a stop over at Dubai. I'm asking my brother to pay but how do emirates accept payments cos the booking says I have to make payments at MMA latest today. Has anyone booked with emirates and how did you make payments?
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part4 by flynbird(f): 9:31am On Aug 09, 2013
Ricky Rozay: Someone got me their booking staff phone number in V.I. So I called the woman on phone and she got me 16th of August two days ago. Which is on Wednessday.

It took her time before she got the date for me.. because I called her every 30 minutes like about 10 times and she was busy working on it with her system checking for seat for me because seats were already filled up... Then she finnaly got a seat for me for the 16th of August for #199,000.
Ok thanks
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part4 by flynbird(f): 7:33am On Aug 09, 2013
Ms Nas: Why don't you chill a bit before you book? When I went to get my tickets, the guys actually told me that the high prices will drop by August Ending. My opinion sha smiley

Additionally, I just checked Emirates' site and I got a price of 209,000NGN for a flight to JFK on the 31st of August and 176,000NGN for a September 1st Flight. See the price drop?
Wow. Nice. But my school resumes sep 3rd. Dunno how the stop overs could be plus I'll need time to settle and gget a place to rent before resumption

Ricky Rozay: I got the Royal air yesterday for #199,000 for the 16th of August
Wow! Please how did you get it? Was it through www.wakanow.com or through RoyalAir website? Did you book just yesterday and got N199,000 for 16th?

worry 359: YOU could have looked this up yourself on Google!!!!

US Food Restrictions

When entering the United States from Mexico or Canada, travelers may bring bakery items and some types of cheese across the border without worrying about being inspected. Other items that are generally accepted include packaged coffee, tea, condiments and spices, among others. Refrain from bringing rice across the border; according to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's border patrol website, rice can harbor unwanted insects. Other banned items include meat products; some exceptions do apply. In many cases, you cannot bring foreign fruits and vegetables.

Ricky Rozay: When is your School resuming? Hope u can still meet up.. Why not go with Royal air Maroc.. I think dey are the cheapest u can get for now.. They fly to Morrocco first and then to JFK NewYork...

And you don't need any transit visa when you get to Morrocco.

I got 16th of August yesterday for Royal Air maroc. But didn't bother booking anymore because I got other plans....
My school resumes september. I just want to have time to settle do before resumption
webstradamus: You shouldn't need a transit visa but I would confirm from the airline. I once flew BA from Abuja - New York via London Heathrow and didn't require a transit visa.
I hope I wouldn't need one

Mystiqme: Getting a relatively cheap flight taking off two weeks from now is a little difficult, and you might have to make the sacrifice of prolonged layovers in order to get cheaper prices.
I found this though.......
There's a stop at Manchester on QuatarAir. Wouldn't I need a transit visa for stopping there? JW

Ms Nas: Flynbrd....
Babes, did you make a copy of your passport? If so, please take it there. That was what I used for mine (that was exactly what they asked for)
As for getting to the DHL office. Get a bus to Oshodi..and alight anywhere at Oshodi. Get another bus going to mile 2 and tell the conductor you're going to Toyota Bustop. Immediately they drop you, the DHL office is directly beside you (to your left). Just cross the service lane and walk 50metres or so to their gate. smiley
I don't have a photocopy my passport. I have just my National ID card. Would they accept it?
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part4 by flynbird(f): 9:27pm On Jul 29, 2013
Ms Nas: Flynbird deariecheesy, its not a must you receive a text message. I received an email just like yours the day after my interview and I picked up my passport the day after that. Up till date, I haven't gotten any sms (I filled a valid mobile number btw). So, if you got a mail indicating that your passport is ready, then indeed it ready. Go pick it up
Thank you dear smiley
Ms Nas: Bros ooh. They've stopped using Billings Way o. Now its Oshodi or Lekki. They've even removed Billings from their site. I had to log in, change the address and reprint my confirmation page as the first one read Billings Way.
What do I need to take along when going to pick up the visa?
Ricky Rozay: @Flynbird, you can call GSS Document collection centre at this No - 094601748.

Call them and confirm if your passport is ready for pick up..

Ms Nas might be right, it might be ready and some peeps case can be different, so u might not receive a text message from them.

Call them first or you can go to their office at DHL House, New airport road junction, apapa Oshodi Express Way, Isolo Lagos....
Seems I know that DHL office. But how do I get there from Oshodi cos I'll be taking a bus from Ibadan to Oshodi

Ricky Rozay: Then I must say your Visa is not yet ready... I did my interview on Monday 22nd of July and I received a text message on my phone and an email too at the same time on the 24th of July, Wednessday evening.. So I went to pick up my Visa on the 25th of July, Thursday..

So I think you should be a little patient so you don't go for nothing and waste transport fare...

Just count 3 working days from the day of your interview, then you can head straight to the DHL location I provided above and pick up your Visa...

You might even receive a text message b4 then self... But I hope you filled in a VALID phone number....
Ok I'll be patient. Thank you

imperiouxx: My flynbird don start again oooo.

You filled Ikeja, then you go to billing in Ikeja, Oregun side. If your resumption is fast approaching you can be called quicker than someone whose resumption is still like a month from when the visa was approved. So, individual case is different.
Oh ok
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part4 by flynbird(f): 5:20pm On Jul 29, 2013
Ricky Rozay: If you received a text message on your phone as well from Visa Services which states; "Document ready for pick up"

Then I wil say your passport is ready.. Did you receive a text message on your mobile phone?

Because Passports are being processed in 3 working days after the day of your interview.

I received the same email with you as well and I also received a text message as well too.

I chose ikeja as my pick up location but you will have to go to their New location for pick up..

They don't use the ikeja location anymore..

So you will need to go to DHL office at Oshodi apapa Isolo, New airport road.. Lagos...

That's where I picked up my Visa..
I haven't received a text message yet. Just this email which I got the next day after my interview around 5pm. When did you receive your email and text message?
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part4 by flynbird(f): 4:46pm On Jul 29, 2013
Pls where am I to pick up my visa? Can't really remember where the VO said I should pick it up from but I guess VI or something was what she said. When filling my appointment I requested for Ikeja as pick up location. I got this email the next day after my interview. Does this mean its ready yet? And I can go pick it up? How do I get to this location in the email?

Please which airline is presently the cheapest to New York (JFK). I don't mind stop overs like dubai. I've tried emirates but its not giving me my desired search result. How do you guys get it done? Besides what I saw on their web, I don't understand. Saw something like tax which is equivalent to the cost. What's that all abouthuh?

In between is $300 a month too much for a room with bathroom/toilet, utilities inclusive? I saw one I like on craiglist

During my preparations I read through the 2nd, 3rd and 4th part of this thread up till now. I advice every one preparing to do the same.
On my notepad i copied and saved interview experiences both approvals and delays from the 2nd, 3rd and 4th part of this thread. They were very helpful towards my preparation. I'm not sure if the mods will allow a new thread(read only) so I could post them and others could learn from them.(If neecessary)

Ok. smiley. First I'll like to say a big thank you to God! And I thank him for leading me to such a lovely family here on Nairaland. Without you guys I wouldn't have much information.. From Bigfrancis to imperioxx to Misnas, kpoli, yveett. misstoyo, findout, Gboyega, vivysparkles,..... The list is endless. smiley. You guys encouraged me when I felt like giving up!
So I got my sevis fee receipt updated around 4pm. Printed it out and got on the next bus from Iwo road to Ajah. Woke up the next morning and got to the embassy. Did all security check/biometrics. Sat down then my number came up. I was interviewed by the Chinco lady at the extreme edge close to the entrance. Here's how it went...

Me: Good morning
VO: Morning pass me your documents
Me: (passed them)
VO: Where in the US are you going?
Me: (Told her)
VO: So I see you're going for your masters
Me: Yes, Masters in Human resources management.
VO: How did you find this school?
Me: I searched online for schools that offer my course and during the process I came across an article by Professor Stephine Taylor. She's the Chair human resources management program in the university. Her article was one about the challenges human resources managers face in companies where she talked about analysis in decision making. She brought real life experiences into the classroom.. (VO nods head then cuts in)
VO: So what will this course do for you?
Me: I have a basic understanding of Human Resources management and having a masters will add to my skills at work and this in turn will make me excel professionally (VO nods head)
VO: ...... Ok did so did you take GRE ?
Me: No I took just TOEFL. I have 4yrs work experience so I was exempted from taking GRE or GMAT (Was reaching for my file to show her my toefl scores but she said I shouldn't worry)
VO: When did you graduate?
Me: 2008
VO: And what have you been doing since then?
Me: I went for my NYSC and I was retained in the same company and worked there till January this year. Then I took over managing my brothers company.
VO: So who is sponsoring you?
Me: My brother
VO: What does he do?
Me: He owns a company, He's a contractor.
VO: Do you have his bank statement?
Me: (Passed it to her)
VO: (Looks at it briefly then passes it back to me) Ok so your Visa has been approved. Take this and pick up your visa at bla bla bla....
Me: Thank you and have a nice day (Smiling)

I'll say it was Gods favour after all what I went through before the interview. I wish everyone going for their interview success and please be Bold, Never take your eyes off the VO and demonstrate with your hands.... In between that chinco guy is kinda strict. He kept denying everyone that went to his window... And why didn't anyone tell me phones aren't allowed in the embassy? I had to pay a mobile policman 1,000naira to keep my phone. cry lol

misstoyo: +13144251809 call DHS. I had to call them when they didnt upload my receipt
Thank you very much!
Edman2012: @flynbird..

Please dont cancell your appointment because your sevis receipt is not available online yet. Go to the embassy and do your interview and explain to the VO that u have paid but still unable to print out your receipt online. If your visa is approve that day, they will ask u to go and come back with your sevis receipt and intl passport. They will give u letter that allow u come back to embassy at any time soon. Dont be let down by the sevis receipt, go for interview and get da visa.
Ok I'll do that if I still don't get the receipt online.. In between has anyone ever gone for the interview without the receipt? Would the security allow me in without the receipt? I have no other prove that I've paid except the MTCN number
