Wickedfact:Nobody is disputing the fact that " sin taxes" are mainly levied on dangerous goods like alcohol, tobacco and even sugary products, as a form of control by the government. Most airlines still considers the high tax rates imposed on airfares as "punitive" and still refers it as " sin taxes ", as government considers it a luxury goods. The same applies to importation of some luxurious goods where the tax elements are more than the base costs. That the airlines fares from one EU country to another is lower than local flights in Nigeria is not the issue of the topic. The issue is the tax components of the airfare costs, irrespective of the location. If you book round trip, Lagos to Toronto, you will notice that the fare from Lagos to Toronto is higher than from Toronto to Lagos. It is because of the tax elements imposed by the government, where the flights are departing from. EU is an economic area, of which Brussels usually has a hand in setting tax and tariff rates, making flights within member states to be cheaper. |
omoredia:Do not be surprise if she is unable to speak Yoruba. Children born to middle class and rich Nigerians do not speak their native languages and don't know how to speak them. |
The taxes you see there are called " Sin taxes" This is usually imposed on goods and services considered to be luxury or imposed to curb the consumption of certain goods or services. Worldwide, flight services is considered as a luxury services and government around the world imposes higher taxes on flights departing from their territories. |
Nice and mid range exotic car but it would be hard for you to sell it when you want to upgrade to something higher. The second hand value is next to nothing. Except if you want to sell at a force sale value |
This one is looking for content. People have already started trending because of Trump's thoughts on Nigeria. Unilateral strike by foreign powers within Nigerian territory is not the best solution. Any help should be in consultation with the government to avoid going the Libyan way. I hope the target is just the terrorists and not unilateral strike on Nigeria. For POTUS to refer to Nigeria as a "disgraced country" is a source of concern Something must have gone wrong somewhere. |
Many of them like that, after serving years in prison abroad would come back to Nigeria to constitute nuisance. You will see them dressed up like abroadians , moving up and down, doing nothing and looking for one illegal business to do. Many of them are like that here and I am sure greater percentage of them were deportees from abroad after serving their jail terms. |
He even called the guy "clown", in his characteristics pompous and arrogant nature. Respond straight to what the guy raised and he started with insults. ![]() |
PDP: Death by Installment! The final burial will be in 2027 |
I hope JD Vance will not embarrase Tinubu because the US vice president is fond of throwing "punches" at visiting heads of state with no-hold-bared questions in front of the camera. He will never agree to a private meeting with BAT. He would hold the meeting in full glare of the press, throwing punches at Tinubu, which may even exposed the president to more ridicule. They are waiting for him. This may be the opportunity the white house is waiting for. |
I hope say US no go get hand for the coup, sha. I wonder what could have given the "coupist " the moral courage to think of a coup in the current Nigeria's political set up. Let me still believed that the whole thing is a hoax as government has not said that there was an attempted coup. |
He should come and live with us here in Nigeria. I hate it when some privileged, government - paid Nigerians living abroad would be telling us how Nigeria is doing well in all indicators but they dare not come to live in Nigeria. As people usually say, it is better to love Nigeria while living abroad |
I think there is more to this than meets the eyes. Trump cannot be threatening Nigeria if he has not fallen out of favour with Abuja. There may have been broken down negotiations on something very strategic. Trump knows how to use his strength to his advantage in negotiations. Imagine how he described Nigeria, " that disgraced country." People are not even commenting on this strong comment from Trump. Nigeria will soon be classified in the categories of Yemen, Iran, Sudan, Afghanistan and Zimbabwe. Even Syria is becoming a darling of the West, as the new regime cowers towards the dictates of the West. |
Soludo is lucky!!!. Just imagine that Ifeanyi Ubah was the candidate of APC, with the full chest of APC power brokers backing him. The current APC candidate is no match to Soludo. So, there is not going to be any challenge to him in the next election. Ifeanyi Ubah would have electrified this gubernatorial campaign more with his typical grass roots mobilisation. |
I stopped eating bread when I clocked 40. Sadly, Bokku brought me back to bread. I usually buy their bread when I am in their supermarket and the bread is just just coming out from the oven. ![]() I don't take bread if its not coming directly from the oven. Once it settles and gets to the shelves, my appetite drops. So, OP, I will not take any slice except if it is hot and soft. |
Getting those jobs will never be easy. If you intend to go abroad to study with the best chance of landing a job, just focus on: 1. Nursing 2. Support Worker 3. Human and Social Services 4. Mental health 5. Psychology and Psychotherapy 6. Early Childhood Education 7. Mathematical Science 8. Health Care Support Roles All those big courses mentioned by the OP are quite saturated and competitive. Lots of immigrants that studied "fancy " and "big" courses are still job hunting while those that studied simple health and allied courses have gotten themselves something. Don't be deceived by fancy courses. Focus on courses that the Services are required by people, on a larger scale |
SMH ![]() Nothing wey single ladies and mothers no go see for Nigerian pastors hand. |
See who is talking about Federal Character? The term, " Federal Character" should not be in the same sentence with any major northern politician. Even though the present government has not done enough in terms of federal character, Nigerians should all rise together to condemn injustices in whatever form. I have noticed that most people in Nigeria feel alright if things do not affect them but cry foul when the tides turns. Under Buhari, we witnessed the worst form of nepotism and favoritism, with recklessness without caring at all. Nigeria's leaders would continue to be the bane of Nigeria's underdevelopment. Read Professor Chinua Achebe's book, "The Trouble With Nigeria". You would understand how successive leaderships of the country have all worked together to derail the unity and progress of this nation/ |
Gabrokpara001:Show other parts of this design, including the side views |
Nigerian barracks are another sodom and gomorrah. I saw things in the barracks when I did my NYSC. NCO's wives are something else, including their randy husbands. |
"Congratulations " to Tinubu and APC. 2027 is a done deal. Opposition knows that the game is over. In Nigeria's elections, its the elite, represented by the presidency and the governors that calls the shot. The masses just make up the numbers |
BrickDevo:Where is the entrance to the house in plan? How many bedrooms? |
See the man that the West projected that year and coerced ECOWAS to reject and fight Laurent Gbagbo, the then incumbent just to install the western puppet, Quattara. The man has remained sit tight. There was time he wanted to resign but his hand-picked successor died before the general elections. He resigned his decision to quit and contested the election, which he "won". Thiam Djam, the former credit suisse CEO would have been a better option. But Africa has a way a way of running its own brand of democracy. |
UAC would finally bury the "Chi". Can they sustain the operation and profitability of chivita? Coca-Cola deployed their huge economy of scale to run chivita and company. I doubt if UAC has the same logistical capacity and economy of scale power to run the show. Just as someone rightly pointed out above, Coca-Cola may have deliberately bought chivita and company to "kill" it off and claim some tax benefits. FIRS should not agree to that impairment loss. It should be added back to Coca-Cola's profit and taxed appropriately. Coca-Cola deliberately over valued chivita and company to evade capital gains tax at disposal. They have already claimed that proceeds from sale to UAC was far below their purchase and carrying value. They want to avoid CGT. Make FIRS no gree for them o. |
He may not even see anything to do within a year. The Swedish job market has tanked and international students are struggling, big time. Those that have finished school are leaving the place and seeking opportunities elsewhere. If you don't have money for US, Canada, Australia or New Zealand, just stay back in Nigeria and find what to do with the little money you have. However, if you are going to Sweden and other non English-speaking countries on scholarships, no problem. Once you are done, with outstanding results, you can source for scholarships for a PHD level study in the countries I mentioned above. |
Just look at his response. He acquired the French citizenship to make things easier for his children that were studying in France. Everything about African leaders is about themselves and their families. |
That AstroTurf would be pulled off later after the commissioning of the stadium and sold. |
I033:Go to Ado Road, Badore, Ajah. Ask for Mr. Kazeem. He would replicate it for you. ![]() |
When you consider per capita, then, it should be Senegal. Nigeria is 12 times bigger than Senegal in population but they have pretty number of representation in the league |
"Sharing our vision for a better world " as in what naa, Davido? |
I sorry for travellers on that road this Christmas. See one of the busiest federal roads in the county. Lagos-Benin-Asaba-Onitsha highway should be prioritised but Umahi seems to be preoccupied with other matters. |
So sad! This almost happened to me in 2016 when I left my three year old daughter in the car to pick up something inside the house and my phone ranged. I started answering the call. and I completely forgot that I had a three year old daughter in the car |
