Another chance gone begging. It's evident that Fed cannot win d French as long as Nadal stays healthy. |
@Lordy, he just won a game, u mean? Nadal just took the third set. He won the tiebreaker 7-3. Nadal awaits Federer in the final, i wish. |
Simply put, "No contest". Nadal is teaching the Djoker some clay lessons. |
My 'pretty' chic, Kuz got to the SF after easing past Kanepi. She will meet Safina, who dismissed Demtieva 4-6, 7-6, 6-0. https://img107.imageshack.us/img107/7421/safina02dd6.jpg https://img372.imageshack.us/img372/5986/kuznetsova03kr6.jpg Federer edged Gonzo 2-6, 6-2, 6-3, 6-4 . He will meet Monfils who beat Ferrer 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, 6-1. https://img399.imageshack.us/img399/6162/fed02xn0.jpg https://img380.imageshack.us/img380/6097/monfils09js4.jpg Djokovic tries his luck against thrice defending champ, Nadal in the other SF, that would be played on Friday. |
It shows how mentally tough she is at the moment. She was a game away from crashing out at 3-5 in the second set. I'm rooting for Jankovic all the way. My fav men's player will face Gonzo, who beat him the group stage of the Masters Cup last year in the QF. |

Cougar:Huh? |
Guess what! Serena, the favourite, a former champ has been ousted by 27th seeded Slovenian Katarina Srebotnik in the third round. She lost in straight sets (6-4, 6-4). Ivanovic is through to the fourth round. |
I tip Fed to find a way to end this endless drought. Djokovic may not even reach the semi. |
It's being discussed on the tennis thread here. |
Tributes pour in for retired Henin ROGER FEDERER (Switzerland), men's world number one: "It's obviously a shock for the tennis world. It's a particular surprise before Roland Garros and Wimbledon, which she's never won. "It's quite surprising and unfortunate that she's out of the game but she will have her reasons. "She is a special player because she can play on any surface and it's remarkable that she's won so many tournaments because she is small and the tall players coming in now have an advantage. "I couldn't imagine deciding out of the blue to retire, especially if I was number one. I would prefer to take a year off if it was all getting too much for me, rather than saying straight out that I'm not going to go on." MARIA SHARAPOVA (Russia), women's world number two behind Henin: "She's 25 years old and she's achieved so much in her career. If I was 25 and I'd won so many grand slams I'd quit too. "Without being the strongest or the biggest, she's won so much. She's an inspiration. There's so many things to life and I'm sure she wants to explore them. I definitely don't blame her for retiring." VENUS WILLIAMS (U.S.): "She was a great opponent. She always challenged herself to play her best tennis, no matter what the circumstances. A real fighter." SERENA WILLIAMS (U.S.): "She was a great champion and she gave me a world of trouble, so I hope the best for her. What can you say about such a great champion? I don't think we have enough time." JELENA JANKOVIC (Serbia): "I was very surprised by her retirement because she's doing very well and she's still young. She's great for the game. "It can sometimes be very difficult, many years playing and travelling around the world. Being there, being at the top, can be very difficult. We will miss her." ANA IVANOVIC (Serbia): "(Tennis loses) another champion, a great player who brought a lot to the women's game. She had a different game to any other woman on the tour. I'm sorry to hear this." BILLIE JEAN KING (U.S): "Pound for pound Justine is the best player of her generation. I trust she has not come to this decision quickly or easily and I wish her the very best. Justine is an extraordinary player, a special person and a true champion in both tennis and in life." CARLOS RODRIGUEZ (Henin's coach): "Technically and tactically she has it all. But I think she will be remembered for the way in which she won and lost and the way she never gave up no matter what was going on in her life. "She never craved fame and money. All she wanted to do was play and win." LARRY SCOTT (WTA Tour chief executive): "Justine Henin will be remembered as one of the all-time great champions in women's tennis, and a woman who made up for her lack of size with a will to win and fighting spirit that was second to none. "It is rare that an athlete leaves at the very top of her game in this day and age but Justine has always played by her own rules. "History will remember Justine for not only her seven grand slam titles and three years finishing as the WTA Tour's world number one but for one of the most graceful backhands the sport has ever seen and an ability to overcome any and all obstacles placed in her way on the tennis court and off." FRANCESCO RICCI BITTI (ITF president): "Justine Henin has been an outstanding athlete of her generation, and had a grace and style on court that distinguished her from other players. She has always been one of my favourite players to watch. "Her victory at the 2004 Athens Olympics was Belgium's only gold medal at the Games and we are sorry that she won't be able to defend her title in Beijing. She has made a huge contribution to the sport." Source |
Zenit have completed the job - they beat Rangers 2 - 0 to lift the title. I'm impressed with their sexy but direct game. Who faces them in the super cup? |
viee:Last season Arsenal beat Man Utd when they met. But this just-concluded season, Man Utd had the upper hand. Now compare this with Henin and Serena. |
The other players play alike, thus making it boring without her. IMO, Mauresmo is still in it just for the money, because I see no reason why she's still going about embarassing herself. Who could have imagined she'd be in this state two years ago. Perhaps, that's one of the reasons Henin quit so early. |
viee:Their rivalry was more like Man Utd n Arsenal. It's a pity the most skillful, talented, enjoyable female player to watch has retired. She said she wasn't feeling the game anymore since her career is being driven by emotion, she decided to quit. Who else will I watch? . I hope she comes back in the nearest future when she finds that "emotion".I just hope Fed does follow that line. |

Barca are leaving it late. All these goals would have rescued their season. P.S: Igwe just scored the third goal in the 14th minute. |

Bayern crashed out of the UEFA CUP SF 5 - 1 on aggregate, so Zenit are through to their first ever european final. Rangers also went through on penalties. The final takes place on the 14th of May. |
Ibime, erm . . . how about Shevchenko? ![]() Good game - it was a better display than yesterday's one-sided affair. Welldone Grant. Can you take it a step further? I mean do a double against the scummies? |
Just want to know if Peter Cech has ever saved a penalty kick. |
The game was a comedy. Earnshaw celebrating his goal like he just equalized. Adebayor is just too playful, little wonder he 'plays' in front of goal - he's too wasteful. At least we saw some exchanges today between him and Bendtner, who was also hesitant at some points in the game. Did u see Le Prof give fragile V. Persie thumbs up? |
. . . and the Djoker had to take the easy way out. What a pity! Anyways, it's another Nadal - Federer final on clay!!! It's been along time we had something like this. |

. I hope she comes back in the nearest future when she finds that "emotion".
