Konquest: @Folake, the pleasure is mine.
I had some prior engagements too, that's why I'm responding to this now.
Hmmh, I can now see one of the major reasons why you gravitated towards becoming a lawyer... "Acts of service." I love that aspect of your LLanguage. However, "A fine woman who is self-motivated, intellectual and a good conversationalist would be a better turn on for me to start with."
Tbh, Jamaican jerk chicken, bunny chow from South Africa, asun OR boli and grilled fish, both from Nigeria, etc, are some of the classic street foods that can be tasted by tourists and locals alike. Street foods reflect the SOUL of a people and can be got from designated clean environs.
You can check out the Website link below to get a flavor of global street foods and see if you're inspired to try any of these food niches when next you travel internationally or domestically for leisure OR maybe even use the idea to complement your source of income down the road (in addition to your law profession as a young lawyer).

Alright then, we'll chat later.
Take care.
Ciao. That is no problem. Hahahaha yeah, Acts of Service is the koko. About good conversationalist? That is non-negotiable for me. I can't involve myself with men who can't hold good conversations. All those "How are you?" "I'm fine" "Okay" "Bye" and the convo ends there is NOT FOR ME. If peradventure I give someone my number and the tone of our convo is already like that, I'd be turned off by Day 1 and ignore the person. I won't proceed further. Let me know what tickles your fancy, were you a thief in your former life? What are your plans and aspirations? What are your thoughts towards Japa? Do you patronize prostitutes? Does your family have letterhead paper? Where do you see yourself in 5 years time? (I like ambitious and disciplined men. That too is non-negotiable). However with all these I mentioned, I am not Sapiosexual. I'm Demisexual. I can have great conversations and all with someone but if I CANNOT connect to you emotionally, then it is a wasted cause. It's the main reason I have so many male friends that are fine and all of that. People always ask me "You have fine male friends na, hook up with one and be in a relationship". It is really not that simple for me. I need that BOND of close friendship. It is after such bond is created, I MAY now develop sexual attraction to such person. It is not a guarantee though, hence I said MAY. I'm very picky when it comes to Men too. Na why my heart strong. I like suya, puff puff, boli and grilled fish/groundnut, asun. These are classic Nigerian street foods. Here in Lagos, I get them in clean environs and so far, haven't regretted it or purged yet. That's why I'm careful where I buy stuffs. Thank you very much Konquest. I'd check the link. Gracias! (Hehehe I hope to travel internationally soon oh, preferably for my birthday. From my mouth to God's ears. Living in delulu is the solulu ) Alright, have a lovely day ahead, Ma'am/Sir. |

Konquest: Ah! Absorbent paper towel and little oil... That's a great way to get minimal oil in the plantain.
You like wheat bread with peanut butter too? I guess great minds "eat alike."
In my travels around some countries, I always like to taste the street foods and cuisines of the different cultures and it's been a fantastic way of appreciating the skills that go into developing these foods.
Lol... That cracked me up. So, "YOUR EYES eat first." Folake, It seems you're a "very visual person" as well. A significant part of your love language must be embedded in visual aesthetics.
You seem to have grown up knowing only the Amala made from unripe plantains in your city or State of residence based on your mum's culinary preferences.
Last but not least, I suppose you're referring to wheat swallow made from whole wheat flour in your last paragraph. Whole wheat is actually made from wheat bran and germ combo.
Amala however isn't made from whole wheat flour. Just as I stated in the last post, Amala comes ONLY in 3 major swallow varieties among Yoruba folks namely:
1. Amala ogede is made from ELUBO OGEDE (unripe plantain flour) which is a shade of brown color. 2. Amala isu is made from ELUBO ISU (yam flour) which is brown in color. 3. Amala lafun is made from ELUBO LAFUN (cassava flour) which is white in color. Sorry. I slept off early last night. Yes, the greatest way. If I ever crave fried plantain, I have to eat it hot straight from the fire. Otherwise, it'd be soggy for me and I'd lose interest. I also microwave fried plantain when it's warm or cold. Yes yes. You have great taste. Wheat bread is the truth. Oh that's nice. I'm very careful of street foods cos I have sensitive stomach. Yeah. My eyes eat first. My main love language is Acts of Service/Gifting. That alone is visual. Seeing is believing right? I also like fine things, fine men etc. Yes. I know amala made from only unripe plantain. My folks used to buy lots of unripe plantain, sun dry and do the plantain flour thingy. You're right. Wheat swallow. I ate a bit of wheat swallow in my childhood. I haven't eaten it since then. Thank you for explaining that. Appreciate it. |

Konquest: Oh, wow! @Folake4u, those are interesting takes from you.
Yeah, wheat bread is very healthy but some folks don't like it. I love taking mine with avocados and peanut butter. It's one of the best ways to "bring out" the flavor of wheat bread.
Isn't the unripe plantain going to soak in oil while you're frying it? How do you manage to keep the vegetable oil out of the plantains? I'm a sucker for fried plantains too, with especially the smell of fried plantains wafting through the kitchen.
The key is to eat in moderation though.
Last but not least, what is it about Amala and other foods in your list that you don't like... is it the relative carbs content or the bland taste for some of them?
Did you know that there are 3 types of Amala?: 1. Amala ogede made from unripe plantain flour. 2. Amala isu made from yam flour. 3. Amala lafun, made from cassava flour. Thank you. I wonder why people don't like wheat bread really. It's super healthy and filling. Omgggggg you know this. Give me wheat bread and peanut butter and I'm in heaven. Yummy goodness!!! I use little oil when frying anything I eat, even frying unripe plantain. I use absorbent paper towel to drain excessive oil. I'm not a fan of ripe plantain actually. Just once in a while I eat it. I prefer unripe plantain for chips cos it's crispy. Yeah. Moderation is key. Bland taste and also my eyes eat first and just genera dislike. I'm a picky eater and not keen in trying new cuisine. Ohhh. Never knew amala is made from yam flour and cassava flour. Only know of unripe plantain actually. Quick question. Amala is different from wheat right? |
