"Titus Flavius Josephus, born Yosef ben Matityahu, was a first-century Romano-Jewish historian". Josephus knows nothing about Christ of Nazareth. BassReeves: If you perceive yourself to be a kid, thats your problem, as I believed I was about conversing with one or two matured posters here
Mind you maturity doesnt mean age, it isnt measured by age, meaning, its not the age that makes one mature, its the responsibility and ability to think, act and speak your feelings within the limit of not making disparaging remarks. Maturity starts, where and when drama ends. Not taking contributions, personally, is a super power. Handle posts maturely, as you'll be better off without the '... discussing with some kids' sic etc drama. A sign of maturity, is accepting deferred gratification, postpone gratification and escape the kid categorising trap. I'd long realised that most immature posters often always want to win an argument even at the cost of a relationship.
I did earlier cite 18:063 as the passage
Why dont you get hold of Antiquities of the Jews, Volume Three, Book 18 (i.e. Sedition of the Jews against Pontius Pilate. Concerning Christ. And what befel Paulina, and the Jews at Rome) then go to Chapter 3, to read the below about what you queried
3. Now there was about this time Jesus, a wise man; if it be lawful to call him a man. For he was a doer of wonderful works; a teacher of such men as receive the truth with pleasure. He drew over to him both many of the Jews, and many of the Gentiles. He was [the] Christ. And when Pilate, at the suggestion of the principal men among us, had condemned him to the cross; those that loved him at the first did not forsake him. For he appeared to them alive again, the third day: as the divine prophets had foretold these and ten thousand other wonderful things concerning him. And the tribe of Christians, so named from him, are not extinct at this day. http://penelope.uchicago.edu/josephus/ant-18.html Question again; Can you cite the passage where Josephus mentioned Jesus, no patronym – Condemned to cross by Pilate. Marduk according to the Enuma Elish is the creator of the universe, the creator and saviour of man. A human history was forged for him by possibly Eusebius..

You'd need to provide a source for this please. Its interesting at best. While I wait. Here again is from your own wiki source.
The works of Josephus refer to at least twenty different people with the name Jesus, and in chapter 9 of Book 20, and scholars agree that Jesus the son of Damneus is distinct from the reference to "Jesus called Christ", who is mentioned along with the identification of James. John Painter states that phrase "who was called Christ" is used by Josephus in this passage "by way of distinguishing him from others of the same name such as the high priest Jesus son of Damneus, or Jesus son of Gamaliel" both having been mentioned by Josephus in this context. "In the Antiquities of the Jews (Book 20, Chapter 9) first-century historian Josephus states that Jesus ben Damneus was made high priest after the previous high priest, Ananus son of Ananus, was removed from his position for executing James the brother of Jesus of Nazareth (James the Just)."

So he assembled the sanhedrim of judges, and brought before them the brother of Jesus who was called Christ, whose name was James: and some others; [or, some of his companions.] And when he had formed an accusation against them as breakers of the law, he delivered them to be stoned. (27) But as for those who seemed the most equitable of the citizens, and such as were the most uneasy at the breach of the laws, they disliked what was done. They also sent to the King [Agrippa,] desiring him to send to Ananus that he should act so no more: for that what he had already done was not to be justified. Nay some of them went also to meet Albinus, as he was upon his journey from Alexandria; and informed him, that it was not lawful for Ananus to assemble a sanhedrim without his consent. Whereupon Albinus complyed with what they said; and wrote in anger to Ananus; and threatened that he would bring him to punishment for what he had done. On which account King Agrippa took the High Priesthood from him, when he had ruled but three months; and made Jesus, the son of Damneus High Priest. Apparently, he analysed documents that were achieved and excavated telling a story about situations in the distant past. His analysis of Hans Joachim Schoeps may be examined in the scholar circle and those who disagree can come forward with stronger alternate evidences. This is different from cases of divine inspiration that are summary tagged mystical text. budaatum: Fact is, whether Jesus walked on earth or not, quite a lot of that which it is claimed he taught is beneficial to society if properly understood. If you slap my cheek for instance and I turn the other cheek, your hand will tire of slapping my cheek long before you get to the 7 times seventieth slap, and if you critically analyse your slappings, you're bound to wonder if my cheek was made of iron, and that's if you are too heartless to wonder why you slapped my cheek so much. And there should be no doubt that everything we see before is, our understanding of it at least, was created by the words we read as you've show here. Though believing, which is what I'm finding funny about you, gets in the way of understanding what we read and claim to critically analyse. budaatum: Funny. Here's about the same Bart.
Did Jesus Exist? The Historical Argument for Jesus of Nazareth is a 2012 book by Bart D. Ehrman, a scholar of the New Testament. In this book, written to counter the idea that there was never such a person as Jesus of Nazareth at all, Ehrman sets out to demonstrate the historical evidence for Jesus' existence, and he aims to state why all experts in the area agree that "whatever else you may think about Jesus, he certainly did exist." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Did_Jesus_Exist%3F_%28Ehrman_book%29?wprov=sfla1
The Gospels may be fiction but that does not mean Jesus is fiction too. Have you personally read the book you are referring to? What are his premises, backup documents, archaeological references and contemporary accounts he cited? I haven't read the book though but I have it in my archive. Here is an excerpt on his thought about Christianity and the gospel. FIVE YEARS LATER, I was a different human being. Everyone changes in those late teenage years, of course, but I’d say my change was more radical than most. Among other things, in the intervening years I had become a born-again Christian, graduated from high school, gone off to a fundamentalist Bible college, Moody Bible Institute, and had two years of serious training in biblical studies and theology under my belt. At Moody we weren’t allowed to smoke (“Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit,” the New Testament teaches, and you don’t want to pollute God’s temple!), drink alcoholic beverages (“Be ye not drunk with wine,” says the Bible; it didn’t occur to me that it might be okay to be drunk with bourbon)—or, well, do lots of other things that most normal human beings at that age do: go to movies, dance, play cards. I didn’t actually agree with the “conduct code” of the school (there was also a dress code, and a hair code for men: no long hair or beards), but my view was that if I decided to go there, it meant playing by the rules. If I wanted other rules, I could go somewhere else. But more than that, I went from being a fourteen-year-old sports-minded, better than average student with little clue about the world or my place in it and no particular commitment to telling the truth to a nineteen-year-old who was an extremely zealous, rigorous, pious (self-righteous), studious, committed evangelical Christian with firm notions about right and wrong and truth and error. We were heavily committed to the truth at Moody Bible Institute. I would argue, even today, that there is no one on the planet more committed to truth than a serious and earnest evangelical Christian. And at Moody we were nothing if not serious and earnest. Truth to us was as important as life itself. We believed in the Truth, with a capital T. We vowed to tell the truth, we expected the truth, we sought the truth, we studied the truth, we preached the truth, we had faith in the truth. “Thy Word is truth,” as Scripture says, and Jesus himself was “the way, the truth, and the life.” No one could “come to the Father” except through him, the true “Word become flesh.” Only unbelievers like Pontius Pilate were confused enough to ask, “What is truth?” As followers of Christ, we were in a different category altogether. As Jesus himself had said, “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” Along with our commitment to truth, we believed in objectivity. Objective truth was all there was. There was no such thing as a “subjective truth.” Something was true or it was false. Personal feelings and opinions had nothing to do with it. Objectivity was real, it was possible, it was attainable, and we had access to it. It was through our objective knowledge of the truth that we knew God and knew what God (and Christ, and the Spirit, and everything else) was. One of the ironies of modern religion is that the absolute commitment to truth in some forms of evangelical and fundamentalist Christianity and the concomitant view that truth is objective and can be verified by any impartial observer have led many faithful souls to follow the truth wherever it leads and where it leads is often away from evangelical or fundamentalist Christianity. So if, in theory, you can verify the “objective” truth of religion, and then it turns out that the religion being examined is verifiably wrong, where does that leave you? If you are an evangelical Christian, it leaves you in the wilderness outside the evangelical camp, but with an unrepentant view of truth. Objective truth, to paraphrase a not so Christian song, has been the ruin of many a poor boy, and God, I know, I’m one.
Before moving outside into the wilderness (which, as it turns out, is a lush paradise compared to the barren camp of fundamentalist Christianity), I was intensely interested in “objective proofs” of the faith: proof that Jesus was physically raised from the dead (empty tomb! eyewitnesses!), proof that God was active in the world (miracles!), proof that the Bible was the inerrant word of God, without mistake in any way. As a result, I was devoted to the field of study known as Christian apologetics. The term “apologetics” comes from the Greek word apologia, which does not mean “apology” in the sense of saying you’re sorry for something; it means, instead, to make a “reasoned defense” of the faith. Christian apologetics is devoted to showing not only that faith in Christ is reasonable, but that the Christian message is demonstrably true, as can be seen by anyone willing to suspend disbelief and look objectively at the evidence.
The reason this commitment to evidence, objectivity, and truth has caused so many well-meaning evangelicals problems over the years is that they—at least some of them—really are confident that if something is true, then it necessarily comes from God, and that the worst thing you can do is to believe something that is false. The search for truth takes you where the evidence leads you, even if, at first, you don’t want to go there.
The more I studied the evangelical truth claims about Christianity, especially claims about the Bible, the more I realized that the “truth” was taking me somewhere I very much did not want to go. After I graduated from Moody and went to Wheaton College to complete my bachelor’s degree, I took Greek, so that I could read the New Testament in its original language. From there I went to Princeton Theological Seminary to study with one of the great scholars of the Greek New Testament, Bruce Metzger; I did a master’s thesis under his direction and then a Ph.D. During my years of graduate work I studied the text of the New Testament assiduously, intensely, minutely. I took semester-long graduate seminars on single books of the New Testament, studied in the original language. I wrote papers on difficult passages. I read everything I could get my hands on. I was passionate about my studies and the truth that I could find. But it was not long before I started seeing that the “truth” about the Bible was not at all what I had once thought when I was a committed evangelical Christian at Moody Bible Institute. The more I saw that the New Testament (not to mention the Old Testament, where the problems are even more severe) was chock full of discrepancies, the more troubled I became. At Moody, I thought that all discrepancies could be objectively reconciled. But eventually I saw that in fact they could not be. I wrestled with these problems, I prayed about them, I studied them, I sought spiritual guidance, I read all I could. But as someone who believed that truth was objective and who was unwilling to believe what was false, I came to think that the Bible could not be what I thought it was. The Bible contained errors. And if it contained errors, it was not completely true. This was a problem for me, because I wanted to believe the truth, the divine truth, and I came to see that the Bible was not divine truth without remainder. The Bible was a very human book. But the problems didn’t stop there. Eventually I came to realize that the Bible not only contains untruths or accidental mistakes. It also contains what almost anyone today would call lies. That is what this book is about. If Bart could have a thought that Christianity and the Bible accounts is deceit, how can he believe the Jesus account is any different? Was 'James the Just' a fictional character too then? That question should be directed to Eusebius who invoked the ' discredited' Testimonium Flavianum of Josephus antiquity to prove the existence of historical Jesus. Unknown to him and the church, Josephus was only referring to Jesus ben Damneus the high-priest whose brother - James the Just was reportedly killed by Ananus ben Ananus. It however came out that what Origen, Eusebius, and church fathers hold to their chest as a secular evidence of historical Jesus is forgery. sonmvayina: Let's get some facts about Jesus, as opposed to religious beliefs about Jesus, straight...
There is no contemporary non-biblical evidence to show that Jesus ever existed, certainly not as described in the gospels and other New Testament stories.
The very first reference to Jesus, even in the NT itself, wasn't written until nearly 20 years after his supposed death. This is the First Epistle to the Thessalonians, written by Paul (Saul of Tarsus) in either 50 or 51 CE. The very first non-biblical reference to Jesus was written by the historian Josephus in either 93 or 94 CE. This was Antiquities of the Jews, however, it's known that at least part of the references to Jesus in this work is a later forgery, probably added by a Christian scribe retrospectively trying to authenticate his beliefs. The gospel stories of supposed events in Jesus's life weren't written for several decades after the events they purport to describe, often as supposed eyewitnesses. The earliest gospel, that of Mark, was written around the year 70 CE, whilst the last, that of John wasn’t written until around the end of the 1st century CE. They have no known authors, and they weren't given the names we know them by until the latter half of the 2nd century CE. The gospel stories of supposed events in Jesus's life, including the claimed miracles, are purely mythical and are updated and contemporised versions of supposed miracles performed by several characters described in Jewish and Greek mythology, both of which were well-known to the people of the time. This theological literary technique even had its own name, midrash. The birth stories of Jesus as described in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke, not written for between 80 and 90 years after the supposed event, only agree on one thing; that Jesus was born in Bethlehem. This is, however, nothing more than a supposed fulfilment of an ancient Jewish prophecy in Micah 5:2 describing a "ruler over Israel" being born in Bethlehem.
There is no non-biblical evidence to show that Jesus as portrayed in the Bible ever existed, let alone that he was whom the New Testament claims he was. Neither do any records exist to show who the person on whom the biblical Jesus was probably based, was.
The biblical claims and stories about Jesus, and his family, were for one purpose and one purpose alone, that of convincing the naïve, superstitious people of the 1st and 2nd centuries CE to follow the new religion of Christianity. Brilliant input. |

He is a personification of Jewish resistance movement, fashioned around The Egyptian, a zealot revolutionary leader; Jesus ben Sephat, second temple high priest; Jesus ben Ananus, second temple high priest; Jesus damneus, the brother of James; and so many other revolutionary leaders. His birth is personified weaved around Judas the Galilean birth of the Zealot movement. This is why the Gospel writters fixated Jesus birth in 4BC. Apostle Paul was an instrument in establishing Gentile Christianity, whitewashing Jewish community and killing James known as Stephen in Acts of Apostle. Herod Agrippa I and II had a hand in this. Vespasian saw the simultaneous uprising and escalating war in 66ADb and decided to create pacifist Jesus to counter the awakening Messiah motivational belief in Jewish community. He took Seraphis worship from Alexandra and coined Jesus with it. Get James the Brother of Jesus written by Robert Einsmen, he elaborated the Jesus movement and how Paul, a Roman citizen hijacked it, creating what we know today as Christianity. |

She only brought this thread to embarrass and smear my person. oloriadekunle21: No 2: I blamed d lady for dropping her account number her, u guys once begged NL for help which dey gladly did and some re seeing ur story from d beginning as a format to beg and u re nw making it look like it's true. Hmmm oloriadekunle21: Pls DNT judge her she's really going Tru HELL presently. She definitely knows what possible thing to do to change her situation. |

Lizzyangel: Hello everyone. To God be the glory, schools resumed in Ondo state yesterday, I had to go back home on Sunday Evening to check if I can get Diye's uniforms and Kiishi's needs, the door is locked but I could find my way in through the exit door, resuming coupled with my current restlessness led to my tiredness and inability to update this last night.
I've searched round Ore looking for a room for my kids and I to live,as we're still living and being fed in a stranger's house for the past six days without a single call from foly to ask about his kid's welfare,(I guess it's a dream come through for him, victory at last!). So, I'm not comfortable living here, I don't like being a burden on others, though our host ain't complaining, but I shouldn't over-stay my welcome, they've really tried feeding, housing and clothing us for the past 6days, I pray that God almighty will continue to enrich their pockets and answer their prayers IJN.
The houses have been seeing are 1-2bedroom flats, which ranges 80-100k, I can't afford this cos whatever loan the school would be giving me, I'm to compulsorily pay back before the end of the term(3months) the minimum loan I was able to get is 50k,to be gradually deducted monthly, coupled with my kids tuition fees, my basic salary is 30k (extra lessons-exclusive)after the tax and compulsory savings reductions.
Restructuring may be hard and tasky ,but I'm surely moving on, if not for the urgency in my predicament, I'd have Done a thrift with my colleagues to enable me meet up my budget, but alas! I've been in a dilemma. I so much wish I could leave this my host's house before the end of this week.
This brings me to doing this again, I know many people will insult me again, and call me name, while few others that God will use will surely help us, for the sake of this innocent kids, please MAs/ Sirs, whatever God laid in your heart to help us with, it will go a long way in getting them an abode, their welfare is Paramount to me, right now I'm having the 50k loan gotten from school with me,we'd be needing more for the rents, little consumables, foodstuffs, diapers and others,(I've got loan to repay monthly, salary may not be enough for now), no little amount from your side that will go un-appreciated ma/sir.

I might not be able to reply mentions during the day cos, we ain't allowed to use phones in the classroom, but I'd definitely reply in the evening/@night.
I'd gladly accept every insult coming to me for begging for my kid's sake, I'm not going back,I've come this far, please HELP US!!! And here we go, begging on public forum for a rescue from the mess you put yourself in. Don't you have families? Is your granddad property not in Ore? What about those that kept encouraging you to leave, can't they give you money? They cannot play the tune in the background and leave you dance publicly naked. Afterall they have divorced more than twice and wanted you in the party, but you are only dumb not to have backup before leaping out. In Ajegunle, you were known as serial begger. In Canaanland, you've begged almost everyone one way or the other for stipends. How many times are we going to talk about this? Madam, please do not drag me into your embarrassment. I have had enough of this madness. These kids were your only cards but please you've raised it too many times. Remember you said you wanted out. I gave you all the chance to prepare shey! And I promised to pay for your rent, Alhaji only advised me against that. In the whole Ore, you couldn't find a single room, na bedroom flat you dey see, na craze dey worry you. My Dad have been calling you since like forever. You stubbornly refused to answer his calls, meaning you have no regards for him or whatsoever. But you can give my number to your proprietor to speak with me. Ogbeni, I knew you would come to pick one or two things, that is why I haven't changed the lock since you left. I only pity those that would send you money which you will soonest exhaust. I bet you will come again cuz it's in the blood. It's your show, but please do not drag me into it. No mention me again shameless dolt. Im out. |

I am not good at telling stories. Would have become a writer if I were. mandysmum: To think you even frequent the religion section! All these winchy winchy church hoodrats. Quoting bible upandan, yet banging a woman whom you haven't paid her brideprice for nine years. Typical toxic Nigerian hoodrat. I wasn't even religious all along. Herrick: Seriously guy, why did you have to wait till 1am to counter her claims, why not give your view earlier? I'm not trying to be a judge, but is really true you lock out your wife and your kid, in the middle of the night? I was at work and couldn't type from there.... I didn't lock her out. She asked for separation two months ago. And we agreed she leave during school holiday. Well the window closes this night. So she is out. Goodnight |

mandysmum: You are a very very stupid and useless creature. I can't even call you a man cuz you are less than an animal. Thanks for the tags greenie77: In your old age, you will choose to intentionally forget you were flexing rubbish muscle now because you believe your children are powerless and cannot confront you for having them sleep outside tonight going by what their mother posted, just know someday you would be helpless as they are today, depending on them in their adulthood becsause power must change hard.
If in the future they have nothing good to say about you on Fathers Day, God is their witness!
Whatever ish you have with the mother of your children, your children should not be punished for it or you think your older child's mind is not recording what you are making them feel. I bear all the responsibilities for my actions. Thanks |

As hard as this is, I just have to put out this response to the allegations against me here. Seeing this happening now is heartbreaking, I never wished for it, but when relationship becomes more a prison, situation like this is inevitable. Unfortunately, we hooked up, and certainly breaking up online.
When we met back then, it wasn't that I manipulated her mind or took advantage of her young age, she had previous relationships that didn't work. So I don't know where the idea that I fooled her is coming from. Was she coerced, absolutely no!
Into the relationship, she got pregnant and moved into what she called uncompleted building. This very apartment is where my parents and myself lived. Though not a duplex or mansion, it is what we call home. She consented to live in the house. The room wasn't conducive enough, we cohabit in there, happily. We both weathered the conditions till she delivered and also had admission. I had a job that helped us patched up our livelihood. From this job, I was earning very little but managed to foot all necessary bills for her schooling, accommodation, her well-being and that of my baby. I also renovated that uncompleted building into a tasting simple apartment. During this period I was the best husband and best daddy. Yes, she had it all.
One fateful day, a year after she graduated, I found her personal diary. In it, she record all the expenses she incurred while in school. There she stated I only gave her N50,000 financial support in her first year, and afterward did nothing. Though infuriated, I confronted her peacefully about what I saw and what she meant. She stood by her words that I did nothing and that was it. I let it slide though. Days later, she informed me she is about to start processing her degree, and that she will need my support. There I told her, Madam, you have a job already and should bear the responsibility in issue like this, not that I couldn't support but the previous ones I gave were never acknowledged or appreciated. This became the genesis of our misunderstandings. She flared up, told me she would do it all herself, and maybe with support from her family. But till date, that ambition remain a pipe dream. Yes it was a good vision, however, I can never afford to contribute into a project my effort would be worthless.
Many months while she works, she never spend a dime from her earnings. All her money were saved, but mine was meant to be spent to the last penny. She never wanted to bear any financial responsibilities. I took up every necessary bills, even though when it entails monitoring and controlling every damn expenses. This include that of the kid and her own well-being. I systematically stopped footing her bills; clothing, hair making, among others, when I observed that her spending culture was becoming wild. During my maternal granddad burial ceremony, she requested for N5000 for her hair making. I told her I can only afford to pay N2000 as I have already spent more than N400,000 on the burial. Hearing this, she not only threatened to call all her families not to attend to ceremony, but acted accordingly. On that very day, I stopped investing on her personal expenses.
Aside that, she was disrespecting my Parents. At a point, she called my Mum a witch, not only to her face but went out telling people on the street. Those she told personally that my Mum is a witch who allegedly killed out late son, informed me of this. She kept grudges with my mum till her death. This is the woman who never killed her own son or grandchild. This is the woman who fed you during your first years in Ore.
Considering the unreliable job security in the nation, I decided to learn a trade. Cocoa Merchant to be precise. Told her about my plans. And since I wouldn't be earning enough, told her to take care of the kid school fees and also some miscellaneous. Since the apprenticeship would take a year, we both agree that she will bear those expenses for a year. Unfortunately, I lost my formal Boss, and was reassigned to another Boss. I was supposed to complete this apprenticeship in December but this Boss shifted it to March this year. Much of the running of things in the house come from her. I appreciated her for that, but I did contributed somethings. She painted a scenario that she had all the bulk on her shoulder. I have personally called her in April that I will take back school fees of our son and some expenses esp feeding of our daughter. All these I have done within two months that I am free. She is here calling me Lazy and over pampered.
Some years back, my Dad saw me helping her to fetch water. I was only trying to help her but my Dad saw the other sides of my actions. He asked me to stop because I have given her an Inch and would likely go for miles in the future. She wouldn't wash my clothes, sweep the house, and take days before she wash plates. She is here on this forum, and can answer when last she washed my clothes. Its more than 10months. I raised this issie many times but she was adamant, unwilling to bend. Worst still, she deliberately cook bad food, some she cannot eat herself.
Two months ago, she called me at the middle of the night, and informed, out of the blue, me that she want a seperation. I told her, this is fine by me. And I enquired when she would be leaving. She said December this year. Leaving separately for 10 months is unreasonable. I halted her and gave her grace until June Holiday. Days later, I often inquired from her when the holiday would be. She was curious though. I gave my words and will stand by it.
The window grace was opened wide, she stubbornly decided to stay on the other side. On Monday, I almost lost my life when the boat we boarded from Ese-Odo to Irele capsized. I arrived home drenched at some mins past 10. This is the Lazy me struggling in the wild, ocean and forest looking for daily meal. She saw me drenched and do not even care to welcome me home. She was busy watching movie, while I was dying away. I told her point-blank, she is in, this week. I gave her money to prepare food the following day. Even until Wednesday, we were cool until I surprisingly saw this thread blackmailing me.
Well, I believe strongly she is been influenced and wrongly advised. This is not her. But I cannot help it anymore. She just have to go away. I have informed her family and they seem contented with my decision. I wish her well |

Lizzyangel: And to you FOLY that had been her viewing and reading the thread to make me look like and idiot and take notes of my next line of action, I leave you to KARMA, but whatever karma will do to you I pray with the days of my pregnancy and delivery of this kids that your sins will not come to them in Jesus name.
The ridicule and shame you've subjected me to online and offline, the pains and misfortunes I've gone through for the sake of being there I leave you and your dad to karma.
View as much as you like, I'm no longer posting my actions and decisions, I only did that to counter the trolls calling me a fake, beggar and sort.
