ifeness: Firstly about the brain: The brain is a physical object,the physical symbol that allows consciousness(non physical consciousness) to become physical mentality,or mind. Therefore the brain is only a tool used by consciousness to experience this physical reality. Without the brain consciousness does exist and will always exist. We are still very conscious after dead to the physical reality and are our true self when we stop experiencing this physical for. As a mater of fact, the physical reality is a dead -like state,a dream that when we wake up(die) we become more alive.

I heard about the leaf too. Just like our physical body, we sometimes need events that makes us full of life. The incarnation is about reconnecting the leaf with the electromagnetic field that made it conscious in the first place. That is on the path that Energy is needed for everything.

From your previous post, you stated that it is only 'EXPERIENCE' that exist and the rest physical thing in my environment is illusion.

Could this experience be the case of observing the sun. We think of the sun as being "over there" and we see it from here. But when you're seeing the sun, photons, a little bit of the sun are shooting millions of miles through space into the back of our eyeballs, setting off an electrical reaction with which the brain genuinely brilliant experience. From here, it cannot be deny that an experience is occurring but what we mostly know is that the reflection of sun is white while it originally in red or more other colours. Does it mean the brain subject consciousness or it other way round?

Lot of things are not just clear in yoruba spirituality. I agree that everything in the universe have energies. But I still dont get how something without ear or brain can yield to voice command. Maybe you can help on this too.

plaetton: Well, if you wan to deduce that since humans are self-aware and also part of the universe, therefore the universe is self-aware, you can logically say that, but means that you can also say that because Nigerians are know to be very corrupt, the entire landmass of Nigeria is also corrupt.

No doubts, there is consciousness in the universe, but it evolved from interactions of matter in the universe at a certain point in time.
Now, because consciousness is now present in the universe, the universe is no longer what it was. It is now more dynamic because the consciousness is now an active agent itself in the universe.

So, if consciousness is god, like some would believe, then god evolved in the universe just like everything else, and therefore did not create the universe, as most believe.

Dont you think this degrade your claim as 'pantheist atheist'?. Pantheist sees God as the totality of energies and forces that made up the universe.:

Also we cant say there is no corruption in the world. Nigeria has more corrupt institution compare to other nations. Corruption do not end in politics and it is everywhere. So applying that analogy to consciousness still goes for it.

If the universe was conscious, then it would not have begun with simplicity.

I think that consciousness, much like everything in the universe, evolved out of the ceaseless flux of energy in the universe.

I have argued before that consciousness is a product of evolution when the flux in energy reached a certain and unique electromagnetic threshold.

Same thing applies for awareness, sentience and intelligence.

In fact, everything in the universe shows a tendency to evolve from simplicity to complexity and not the other way round.

Inanimate objects are not conscious because they vibrate below the electromagnetic threshold. Some creatures are alive , but not conscious, some are conscious but not self-aware, some are self-aware but intelligent or sentient simply because their genetic frequencies(for want of a better word) are have not reached the electromagnetic thresholds for these stages of existence.

Think of energy as radio station with many channels or frequencies. If you tune into channel 1, you get consciousness, channel two gets you self-awareness, channel 3 gets you intelligence and channel four gets you sentience.

The higher the octave the more evolutionariy advancement the we see, or Should I say,the greater in evolutionary complexity, the higher octave in the energy streeam.

You are a part of the universe, I’m going to presume. So when you’re out late looking up at the stars from some campsite here on earth, one part of the universe is suddenly acutely aware of another part of it.

It’s fair to say then, that at least in that moment, the universe is conscious of itself.

Well wait a minute… not quite, right?

Something in the universe is aware of something else in it.

But is that really different from the way in which you’re aware of yourself? A chunk of matter in your head is aware of (among other things) some other lengths of matter sprouting from your torso. Is this not a body being aware of itself?

So if a part of something is aware (to some degree, anyway) of the rest of that thing, then you can say that thing is self-aware. Is that not true for the universe?

Also you argue that if the universe is conscious, it wont start from simplicity. Does this explain sperm cell and it development to self aware grown human?

My main shot is stone and plant consciousness....I really need to picture that

ifeness: life and brain are within consciousness. The brain will cease to work if consciousness( pure energy) leaves. Like the Ifa priest correctly said,every thing contains consciousness.Eledumare in Yoruba mean Consciousness,an energy that cannot be created nor destroyed but can change form. When you talk to a stone, you are activating/ giving the stone permission to act as a medium to your higher self. That was the method used by our ancestor which was later twisted by christianity and islam; they put the source in the sky and not the stone this time around.

The brain is an antenna that transmit consciousness. When a baby is born,colours has no inbuilt meaning to it,then gradually it starts interpreting meaning into it. Everything we experience are not real. The only thing real is EXPERIENCE itself. They are all the creation of the brain. If the brain receives wrong information,it will recreate wrong experiences which could lead to the creation of negative realities. That is why one should filter informations before giving the brain the go ahead to duplicate them.

I think the only thing intelligent is you.

How about when part of the brain is damaged or altered, can there be consciousness again?

Are we still conscious when dead and the brain stop functioning completely?

I once heard the Yoruba people saying leaf sleep so they cant make use of it for herb. If the leaf is needed at must at that particular time, there are form of incantations they use for that. I dont know much on that.

There is nothing like reincarnation in Yoruba spirituality. I think the western influence has corrupted most of the philoshical meaning in African spirituality.

Note: we have Abiku.

Abiku literally mean 'born to die' which isn't reincarnation of physical person but the rebirth of the evolving consciousness. In Yoruba spirituality, when people die, it is not in the sense of physical death as depicted by westerners but we believe when person die in one form, the person is born in another form. Thanks to science for knowing that the star particles is what made us up. Spirituality have understand this thousands of years back. So in Yoruba metaphysics, dead ancestors are also part of the world even when they are dead physically. It is believed that the ancestors form a bridge between the physical world of the living and the world of the dead. Dead in this sense are conscious. This is the reason why dead ancestors are referred to as 'living dead'.

Rebirth is the cycle of consciousness. The concept of Abiku or rebirth describes the cycle of death and birth in the context of consciousness rather than the birth and death of the body. It said 'ma jele, ma je ekolo, oun ti won ba n je lajule orun ni ko ba won je'......Abiku implies that "me-ness" reborn. The observation Yoruba people have is that only habits and imprints are found in the new person.

Adding, our physical body compose trait from our ancestors. So we are born-again and again, and again.

So if you are going to ask why they die at young age. Well my idea about this is that the metaphysic 'me-ness' configuration on physical 'me-ness' aint proper which cause disorder both physically in the gene and spiritually. Science call this sickle cell. It more like a website that have script and php coding among others. The proper arrangement of this code and format is what brings about reflect perfection which we use and easily understand. When errors occur in this codes, the website break down or imputed character wont respond as expected.

So our ancestors spiritually discover this and make remedy through sacrifices. Science still cant provide remedy for now. Despite.....we must die at a point to be born at another form.

Also can the study of Ogun (Metallurgical Science) via IFA enables your to create a ROBOT (or a kinda Artificial Intelligence Machine) ?

ifeness: Consciousness is what you are. Movement,death,physical reality are all illusion. If you look at Television,you can tune to different channels which are happening at the same time. Tuning is the shift to experience a different reality.

Talking about inanimate object, what you are is what you will experience. Just like limitation is a state of experience,freedom,expansion opportunities,abundance are on a different level. The mountains, stars we see are as a result of collective consciousness. These are things all the people on this planet/physical reality have agreed to experience together. Some people chose to experience the tsunami,911 and other natural disasters together . Those who decide to change will experience different reality. That is why those who change their ways of thinking in a different way most people do today will not experience what the others do. Some people are already seeing beings in the 4th and 5th dimension.....the list goes on.

I asked an Ifa priest why people worship Idols like stone and other non-living things and what is the basis of animal sacrifices. This man is illiterate and cant explain things vividly to me. He made me realise that it is the view of Ifa that all things on earth, and in our entire universe, are conscious and alive. Everything possesses its own awareness and ase (energy). These infinite, natural energies that comprise the universe are called Eledumare......the infinity consciousness.

I have been trying to break things down to my mentality level but seem im having headache or something. I just dont get the picture.

So pls let me learn from you.
- Dont you think consciousness have to do with life and brain?
- How is stone that isn't living or with brain aware of it environment?
- I agree atoms and energies are intelligently made into inanimate objects but does this make them conscious?
- Dont you think the properties of inanimate object randomly occured and nothing intelligent about it?

Imagine u don't have eyes, ears, legs, brain.. you don't have physical body,
That state of existence is what I believe stones possess.
They don't see or feel pain, but they are an intelligent collection of atoms, just like you are.

The bold is perfectly put. But can inanimated object realise it state of existence?

My personal definition of consciousness is:
"To know that you are" To be able to think about thinking.
I think scholars call it Metacognition.

Going by your definition, inanimate objects are not fit in. Or is it me thats not seeing it?

Consciousness is a state of awareness. Physical reality is within consciousness,death is also within consciousness. Plant,stones,mountains are all within consciousness because none of them are real but an experience in the matrix of physical reality. It is like looking into the mirror, what ever you see in it is not real,only you(consciousness) who is looking into the mirror. That is why when you change,they change.

I think he is trying to say If consciousness arose from matter, and matter arose from the universe, consciousness arose from the universe. If that consciousness is aware of the universe, in whole or in part, then the universe is conscious of itself, in whole or in part, just like you are aware of yourself.

Ifa is personal thang. Not necessary you join cult. But from what I learnt, within the discipline of Ifa, there is a body of wisdom called “awo”, which attempts to preserve the rituals that create direct communication with Forces in Nature. Awo is a Yoruba word that is usually translated to mean “secret”.
Unfortunately, there is no real English equivalent to the word awo, because the word carries strong cultural and esoteric associations. In traditional Yoruba culture, awo refers to the hidden principles that explain the Mystery of Creation and Evolution. Awo is the esoteric understanding of the invisible forces that sustain dynamics and form within Nature.
The essence of these forces are not considered secret because they are devious, they are secret because they remain elusive, awesome in their power to transform and not readily apparent. As such they can only be grasped through direct interaction and participation.
Anything which can be known by the intellect alone ceases to be awo.

You got where im heading to. I have been trying to explain Ifa to atheist on this forum but most of them are just close minded 'professional atheist' who are hard bent hating religion.

Also, some still think Ifa is religion and worshipping of demons, spirit and casting charm.

I believe Africa can rise up again if and only we live in our way of live, path, philosophy, science and culture. I dont see reason African will say his motherland is doom while he is heading toward western colonizing tract. The change of our land and better future is in our hand. When we know ourselves, our history and embrace what belong to us, then we will be free from every form of slavery and oppression. Thats the picture im trying to show rational folks on this forum.

Our brains are just a very complicated series of chemical reactions which in turn produce yet more chemical reactions. If we are acting as a result of response to stimuli are we separate and conscious or are we just a reaction and in illusion?

These complicated chemical reactions are not limited to life or to Earth. All of the chemicals in the universe have different charge and properties based upon how that charge is arranged. There are planets with volcanos of liquid nitrogen and there are rocks that have never had life on them yet chemicals bound together by countless impacts and reactions to produce amino acids which are the basis of all known carbon based life.

Going by all this reactions, can we say the Universe is Conscious?
If truely human mind/soul is part of the infinite consciousness, can we also say plants, stone, water and other particles in the universe are conscious too?
What exactly is consciousness to your own view?

You know, Definitions of terms in Human system depend on their Functionality and in defining some abstract elements, one could either exagerrated the definition or limited it, it all depends on some personal experience and research !!

Definition of Mind and Soul differs across some philosophic discipline while some has equated the two concept into meaning the same-thing !!

Personally, I believed MIND has to deal with the whole system of Human which enables thinking,conciosness,Judgement et c therefore, Soul is a Department in the MIND which can mean a term used to describe the general system of consciousness and mental evaluations !!! I may be wrong anyway and I'm Opened to learning and better information,to me, Knowledge in such Faculty is only important in knowing one's system ,nothingmore !!

We may say, The Soul + other bodily faculties equals the mind and not just soul alone .........

Therefore, U can either Opened your MIND to better your soul in the longrun or close-up your mind and get your soul condemned !!!

The Soul bears the consequence of all actions in Human system therefore, Soul + other body systems =MIND !!

Yes, I held Soul as an abstract shapeless Algorithm=Programmic Language embedded in the physical tissues in the Head which is called Brain ... The Soul is primarily You while The Mind is you + other systems that aids you in becoming whatever you desires to become i.e Good/Bad !!! !!!

Yoruba spirituality view that everything in the universe is conscious and alive with there own ase (energy). Have been trying to find if stone and plant were conscious but just making my head go hot.
