Why not wait till when you get your ITA and apply before getting married? If you marry after AOR, it wont affect your score anymore. However, you need to ensure you have enough POF for family of 2 as you would be required to update your POF since the family composition has now changed.

Direct recharge won't be enough. It's international call. Why will I recharge direct with N500 to N1000 which won't last up to 20minutes when I can opt in for international call bundle of 40 minutes talk time for same N500?

I have already given him what he wants. Information is power.

Hi, nobody will give u chance to talk for long. When I called them,I spent less than 7 minutes.u just have to hit the nail on the head once you call and get your EI ID handy before you call. They are always ready to listen.

Hello All,

Greetings to the stakeholders. cool

Whats the best preparation period for a working class individual?
Three months should not be bad even if your work is very intensive. However,it all boils down to your English proficiency level.

How much is the cost of the exam?Between 51 to 55k.

Which centre is favorable to seat for the exam? I am unaware of that kind of center.Since you are working,I think proximity is paramount.

Thanks

I have written IELTS on 13th of May and had L8 R8 W7 S6.5. I asked a frd to help do the enquiry on results tin to help me remark writing and speaking parts but I was told the time allowed for remark has elapsed due to my dad burial arrangements. I am fed up with PTE as I need 20 points and not claiming experience points. Should I revert to IELTS n work towards getting straight 8s or I should stick to PTE or enrol for TOEFL. Is there any hope? Or what do I need to do to get 20 points. I need your advice pls.

First, accept my sincere condolence for the loss of your dad.i do not know if I am in the best position to proffer solution or advice cos I am yet to hit the 20 points too.Having said that,It is evident that you need improvement in all areas especially speaking and by extension pronunciation. You can download an app called 'check pronunciation ' from playstore. In addition,I advice u watch 'read aloud' e2language video in youtube to be conversant with the 44 sounds of english. When you ascertain the sound(s) that u struggle with, you can use the app to practice. You type a word and click pronounce and it says the word. This app is free and it has been helping me.There are recurrent words in pte like increase, decrease, thing etc u need to be able to pronounce them appropriately.'If u d pronounce am wrongly naso the computer go d complain say which kind pronunciation be this and naso points go d fall yakata'

There are other apps on playstore too.u can also give yourself sometime off and set a blueprint for vigorous study and practice. In read aloud, read with rhythm Just read like a newscaster like my friend advices. If you miss a word,Just 'fire d go',the system detests repetition, hesitation and the likes...

Finally, according to Norman Vincent P 'you can,if you think you can'.

Goodluck

[quote author=nikkyadet post=61671299]I came across this thread recently and it has been informative. A big kudos to everyone.

I have a B.Eng Mech Eng, Age :39 with a family of 4. I am preparing for my ielts exam by next month and I am hoping to get at it as soon as possible because of the age(almost 40).

I am hopeful to be assessed as a professional engineer and I intend to claim work experience as i have 9 years experience in my field.

My questions
1) do I need to pay extra for my work experience to be assessed by EA as well as choosing the fast track option.

Ans -Yes and u also pay extra for fast track.some folks just claim experience from DIBP and not the assessment body in order to reduce cost and other reasons.

2) still a bit confused about the career episode and the CDR.
Ans- u did not mention what you are confused about.Having said that,CDR is an acronym for competency demonstration report. It examines not just your job and what you have done in a particular field but also how you have being able to keep abreast with developments in the engineering field.Career episodes is just a subset of CDR.I advice that u peruse the MSA guide and online booking guide for better understanding.

3) what chances do I have before I get the final response against my next birthday which is in Oct next year. As I am hoping to claim point on the age before I reach the 40yrs mark.

Ans-If you have the right documents and points, this process might not take u up to 9months.Kindly work on accruing as much points as possible.

Good luck

plsss between PTE n ielts which one is easier

Evidence from here has shown that more people make maximum points in pte than ielts. It somewhat shows that for an average individual, the former is easier. In addition,I think PTE has less booby traps when compared to ielts.I have written the two and got lswr as 6.5 7.5 8 and 6.5.However,I got lswr as 79 71 83 and 78 in pte.u can read about the exam structure of both to guide your decision-making.i did ielts because of EA assessment.
All the best.

Please house am new to this thread and i have read the first page of this thread but am having some issues....Checking d SOL and CSOL, I found my skill which is Telecommunications network engineer (ANZSCO Code 263312).
Telecommunications network engineer is assessed by Engineers Australia. It is eligible for 189 subclass . My issue is how do i apply for the assessment i dont know my way around the australia engineer website..Am seeing stage 1 and stage 2 competency assessment including fees but i have not seen required documents and all that..Please gurus in the house i need proper advice on how to go about it. Thank you

Download the online application guide from the site and read it comprehensively. If your degree is in Nigeria or any other place that are not signatory to various educational accord like Sydney and Washington accord etc.then u will need a competency demonstration report before you can be assessed.I was a bit sceptical about writing the stuff until I read the Msa guide that I downloaded from ea site.Trust me it is easy to write.
All the best

Good morning house

I wrote my first pte last month 8th sept and got R s w l as 78 71 83 and 79.A day before that,I took the mock test and got r s w l as 72 60 73 and 70.other stuff increased substantially in the enabling skills except pronunciation which was 49 on both occasions.i hope it helps people that want to write later.I did not do much thing different except that I spoke on a faster pace and more careful when reading and listening.i need at least 79 in each of the communicative skills.e2language videos helped me to understand the test.It was just regrettable that I did not prepare so much for the test.i just need to work harder especially on pronunciation

Electrical/Electronic Engineering grad.
Work experience: 2years IT sector
IELTS score : 7.0

Electrical engineer is usually less than electronics in terms of the points they need.u need 20points in English language proficiency and it also depends on your age.at least 3years experience can fetch u additional 5points.i advice that u check the preliminary pages again.

lalaazo:

Congratulations on your +ve assessment; however pertaining to your question; Australia PR is a skilled migration program.
1.You can submit more than 1 EOI and withdraw same before ITA is issued and you have 60 days to apply for your visa after ITA, else you go back to the pool list and wait till you are selected again.
1i. You can submit more than 1 visa application for different Subclasses (eg.190 and 189) but immediately you receive a grant for a particular application, ensure you cancel the other which is of lesser value to you. Else event would override your grant.
For instance you got 189 grant ( the ultimate) and still have a 190 application still active on your immiaccount. My advise withdraw the 190 visa app before a decision is made on the 190.
2. You should aim at 20points in English test and depending on your age, you may just have at least 60points which is good enough for EOI without state or regional nomination.
*** Submit you application once you have ITA and funding and you can proceed to marry you spouse before or after application has been lodged. if you didn't specify you were married during your app; just file a change of circumstance form 1022 and include your spouse in your application before a decision is made on your case. Don't forget to upload all necessary documents for your claims(Medicals, PCC et'al).
http://www.border.gov.au/Search/Pages/Results.aspx?k=form 1022
http://www.border.gov.au/about/access-accountability/service-standards/visa-once-you-have-lodged-your-application
FYI registry/court wedding would suffice.

Thank you so much for the critical analysis.20 points in PTE will land me 65 points. That is the only reason I am thinking about 190.I appreciate once more...gracias

Hi everyone, I have a couple of questions please.I have been assessed by EA as a professional Engineer(Mechanical Engineering).First, I have a skilled experience of 20 months(1 year and 8 months) in Nigeria and most of the regions that I want require you to have 2 years. However, I do not know if it is just for skilled experience. This is because I have a lot of unskilled experience in the UK.Again, I want to know at what point can one cease to modify application(after EOI or ITA).I intend to get married before the second half of next year.I am scheduled for PTE next month before returning home,so I do not know if I should halt the PR process till two become one.Thank you in advance.

For listening YouTube is all you need. Practice at least 20 test samples and aim above 36.

For reading, google ielts reading sample questions. Ieltsbuddy, ieltsliz etc they are so many just google it.

The trick in reading is time management and use of keywords to search for answers.

Please use Capital letters to answer both test.

Success!!
Thanks so much
