gaaaa: First, accept my sincere condolence for the loss of your dad.i do not know if I am in the best position to proffer solution or advice cos I am yet to hit the 20 points too.Having said that,It is evident that you need improvement in all areas especially speaking and by extension pronunciation. You can download an app called 'check pronunciation ' from playstore. In addition,I advice u watch 'read aloud' e2language video in youtube to be conversant with the 44 sounds of english. When you ascertain the sound(s) that u struggle with, you can use the app to practice. You type a word and click pronounce and it says the word. This app is free and it has been helping me.There are recurrent words in pte like increase, decrease, thing etc u need to be able to pronounce them appropriately.'If u d pronounce am wrongly naso the computer go d complain say which kind pronunciation be this and naso points go d fall yakata' There are other apps on playstore too.u can also give yourself sometime off and set a blueprint for vigorous study and practice. In read aloud, read with rhythm Just read like a newscaster like my friend advices. If you miss a word,Just 'fire d go',the system detests repetition, hesitation and the likes... Finally, according to Norman Vincent P 'you can,if you think you can'. Goodluck 4 Likes |

[quote author=nikkyadet post=61671299]I came across this thread recently and it has been informative. A big kudos to everyone. I have a B.Eng Mech Eng, Age :39 with a family of 4. I am preparing for my ielts exam by next month and I am hoping to get at it as soon as possible because of the age(almost 40). I am hopeful to be assessed as a professional engineer and I intend to claim work experience as i have 9 years experience in my field. My questions 1) do I need to pay extra for my work experience to be assessed by EA as well as choosing the fast track option. Ans -Yes and u also pay extra for fast track.some folks just claim experience from DIBP and not the assessment body in order to reduce cost and other reasons. 2) still a bit confused about the career episode and the CDR. Ans- u did not mention what you are confused about.Having said that,CDR is an acronym for competency demonstration report. It examines not just your job and what you have done in a particular field but also how you have being able to keep abreast with developments in the engineering field.Career episodes is just a subset of CDR.I advice that u peruse the MSA guide and online booking guide for better understanding. 3) what chances do I have before I get the final response against my next birthday which is in Oct next year. As I am hoping to claim point on the age before I reach the 40yrs mark. Ans-If you have the right documents and points, this process might not take u up to 9months.Kindly work on accruing as much points as possible. Good luck |

stickaman04: Evidence from here has shown that more people make maximum points in pte than ielts. It somewhat shows that for an average individual, the former is easier. In addition,I think PTE has less booby traps when compared to ielts.I have written the two and got lswr as 6.5 7.5 8 and 6.5.However,I got lswr as 79 71 83 and 78 in pte.u can read about the exam structure of both to guide your decision-making.i did ielts because of EA assessment. All the best. |

Good morning house I wrote my first pte last month 8th sept and got R s w l as 78 71 83 and 79.A day before that,I took the mock test and got r s w l as 72 60 73 and 70.other stuff increased substantially in the enabling skills except pronunciation which was 49 on both occasions.i hope it helps people that want to write later.I did not do much thing different except that I spoke on a faster pace and more careful when reading and listening.i need at least 79 in each of the communicative skills.e2language videos helped me to understand the test.It was just regrettable that I did not prepare so much for the test.i just need to work harder especially on pronunciation |

Geedhey: Electrical engineer is usually less than electronics in terms of the points they need.u need 20points in English language proficiency and it also depends on your age.at least 3years experience can fetch u additional 5points.i advice that u check the preliminary pages again. |

Hi everyone, I have a couple of questions please.I have been assessed by EA as a professional Engineer(Mechanical Engineering).First, I have a skilled experience of 20 months(1 year and 8 months) in Nigeria and most of the regions that I want require you to have 2 years. However, I do not know if it is just for skilled experience. This is because I have a lot of unskilled experience in the UK.Again, I want to know at what point can one cease to modify application(after EOI or ITA).I intend to get married before the second half of next year.I am scheduled for PTE next month before returning home,so I do not know if I should halt the PR process till two become one.Thank you in advance. |
