Ndidi scores wonder goal in Genk win By: Sammy Wejinya | 20 Apr | 22:58 Wilfred Ndidi scored for Genk in their Belgian playoff win over Club Brugge on Wednesday. The midfielder scored a stupendous goal to set Genk on the way to a 4-0 win over Club Brugge at the Cristal Arena. His effort in the 15th minute will be replayed on international television stations for years to come, and for all the right reasons too. The 19-year-old smashed an incredible volley from about 35 yards out that left the Club Brugge goalkeeper, Ludovic Butelle, with zero chance. Ndidi’s effort, which was hit with so much venom and power, was measured at 111 kilometre per hour and it is hard to imagine a goalkeeper who would have successfully kept out the swerving effort, hit with pin-point accuracy. It was only his second league goal of the season following his strike against Zulte-Waregem on January 16. http://ng.supersport.mobi/football/nigeria/news/160420/Ndidi_scores_wonder_goal_in_Genk_win |

Other players that Siasia will monitor at the training camp include, but not limited to, K.V. Oostende striker Godwin Saviour and Barcelona defender Godswill Ekpolo. The retired Nigeria international has shown his compassionate side as he plans to recall CS Sfaxien star Kingsley Sokari and Enyimba midfielder Daniel Etor, having omitted both players from his recent squads for leaving the Dream Team VI camp without permission just before the 2015 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations. The Nigeria U23s will trade tackles with Sweden, Japan and Colombia in the group stage of the Olympic Games. http://allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=18739 |

dozai:I was also suprised that the goal was accredited as an own goal because the ball already crossed the goal line before it bounced back and hit Ikeme's back to finally enter into the net. Well, soccerway also wrote the same thing allnigeriasoccer.com wrote. They probably must have gotten the information from one of those sports site. On the other hand, i was impressed with Dominic Iorfa performance at the center back which was his first time in that position. I think he is more comfortable in that position though i read he caused the first goal. Moses Odubanjo will flourish in a team that allows the wing backs to move forward provided there is a trustable cover up for him. |

U23 TEAM MUST WATCH OLSON – HASSAN FC Midtjylland of Denmark winger, Riliwan Hassan has raised warning bells about the quality of his Swedish teammate, Kristoffer Olsson, who is expected to be in his country’s squad to battle Nigeria at this year’s Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. With Nigeria drawn alongside Sweden, Colombia and Japan in Group B of August’s soccer tournament, Hassan and former Midtjylland compatriot, Sylvester Emeka Igbonu have both warned under-23 national team, Naija Eagles coach, Samson Yebowei Siasia that Olsson will be a major threat in Rio. Sisia’s squad will face Sweden on Sunday, 7th August at Amazônia Arena in their second Group B fixture at Rio 2016, ahead of which Hassan and Igbonu have both explicitly warned that the Nigerian gaffer and his players must be wary of Olssson. The lad under focus was part of the Sweden’s squad that won the European U-21 Championship in Czech Republic last summer and played a key role in Midtjylland’s Europa League exploits against Manchester United of England. Olsson, who was on the books of Arsenal prior to his move to Denmark, is regarded as one of the top talents in his homeland and has drawn comparisons with Mesut Ozil as well as former Gunners’ hero, Fredrik Ljungberg. “It is a good draw for Nigeria and I believe we can qualify for the quarterfinals. Wolves Boss Hints Enobakhare Will Get More First Team Action Published: April 15, 2016 Wolves Boss Hints Enobakhare Will Get More First Team Action Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Kenny Jackett has hinted that Nigerian forward Bright Enobakhare will be getting more first team action at the business end of the season. After only five minutes of game time from a possible 1,170 minutes, the teenager was called into action for the last 32 minutes of the Championship clash with Blackburn Rovers last weekend and the manager was impressed with his contribution. “The young players and the players in the Academy have to earn that and have to be good enough to earn their place, and I was pleased last week with what Connor Hunte and Bright Enobakhare gave me,” Jackett told wolves.co.uk. “They deserved their chance, and they’ll be looking for more opportunities. “When you get quality young players through and that is the key to it, it breeds the type of competition in your squad that then produces success.” Bright Enobakhare has not featured for Wolves U21s since March 21 when he stepped out onto the pitch against Blackburn. http://allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=18677 |
