If Dominic Solanke still has England in his mind and will rush into the arms of England if they call him, then there is no need luring him to the Super Eagles. We need those who dream and live the Green White Green. Not those who will play for us but wished England called him.
Iwobi called an English call up but his dream was the Green White Green. If not, we would never get him because the English conditions is far better.
terzurum5: If you were the Coach, would you pick Osimhen over Chikatara? Osimhen is no where near Chikatara. What happens to players like Kayode, Ezekiel. They may not be playing in the best leagues in Europe but you know that they can offer something more than these rising and promising stars. Osimhen and Solanke can go fight for U20 Shirt I beg
There we go again. Chikatara should be considered for selection over Solanke?
Don't worry Solanke and Iheanacho will slug it out to pick a shirt at the U23 level.
Osimhen wey never kick ball for professional football.
Icon4s: Tribalism? Hahaha. We all know who is more guilty of it on this forum.
You compare Sadiq Umar with Kelechi Ijeanacho?
Bros, in terms of development Kelechi is far ahead of Sadiq.
Besides looking at the positionsthe 2 players play, Iheanacho stands a better chances of being invited to the Super Eagles.
Sadiq Umar at best for now can fight for a place at the next U20 where he still has the likes of Victor Osimhen, Chdera Ezeh, Taiwo Awoniyi and some fuure rising players to contend with. The U23 Strikers positions may be far from him for now not to talk of the Super Eagles.
And I know nothing is definite in football as I keeping mentioning that some players progression may be Arithmetic while others can be Geometric. Sadiq Umar rise quickly and over take the other striking options we have in future.
@bolded said it all. Atleast, it is a confession of the guilty one.
Can you define "development" with technical facts?
Which position is Iheanacho playing for his club that makes him stand better chance of being invited to the Super Eagles?
Do you mean Sadiq Umar that is playing at the level of Kelechi Iheanacho can not contend at the Olympics level because of your.... criteria?
But Chidozie Awaziem was already on your list for the Olympics football games.
Icon4s: Talking about Iheanacho, I am always so conservative when Rating young players. Most of them turn out to be "a flash in the pan".
I saw Iheanacho progress from the U17 to U20 and from ManCity academy to the Senior Team. I watched most of his 2 seasons pre-season games.
I knew he was so much talented and held so much promise but I refused to go in the way of peeps here rating him with d likes of Aguero, Silva, Sterling,Nasri. Even saying he was better than Navas and Bony and what have you.
My take was Iheanacho is work in progress he is nt there yet and it was too early to rate him that highly even before he kicks -off his debut season. And after some few 5mins introductions. People thought I had something against him. People often allow sentiments/patriotism to affect there rating of players. It is normal everywhere in the world. As an English man can always tell u David Beckham was the greatest footballer of his era. A Real Madrid Fan will always say Ronaldo is better than Messi.
8months into his new season and I have been able to size him up and know his capabilities and where and how best to utilize him. It took some good club performances before Oliseh considered him for a call up. See another case of Chidozie Awaziem. Some peeps here even said he was our best CB option jst bc he has just been promoted to FC Porto A Team. Always too quick to hype young players.
Sadiq Umar featured in 3 games and scored 2 goals for AS Roma. And the next thing: "O he has replaced Edin Dzeko". Always too quick.
I know the kind of argument I had with peeps on Ramon Azeez prio to 2014 World Cup. The then popular saying that "he was the best natural midfielder in that Super Eagles team". In which Super Eagles Team? A team he had never been invited to play for? How do you know he is the best in that position when he has nt even been featured? You saw his below per outing at that World Cup. Where is Ramon Azeez today?
I take my time to rate young players.
In football condition is never permanent. Today na Vardy, yesterday was Aguero.
If Chidozie Awaziem plays today again for Porto, he will surely get my nod to play for the Super Eagles ahead of the bench warmer Ambrose.
So, you mean Iheanacho deserves to be called to the National team as at that time Oliseh selected him after scoring just 2 league goals?
I see "it took some good club performance before Oliseh considered him for a call up". You mean with just two goals?
While Sadiq Umar who also scored 2 goals in 3 matches is not worthy of invitation into the Olympics(i am not even talking about Super Eagles ooo)?
If you have your way, you will replace any somebody with Chidozie Awaziem to make sure he makes the list of the Olympic team which i am not against but i just want to point out something. You know what I mean.
Now, moving to Ramon-azeez, so, do you mean he has never rising before?
Because i know he played regularly for his club in the la liga prior to the World Cup. Now, tell me, who should have replaced him then?
Besides, Keshi no know em work? Playing Ramon Azeez as an attacking midfielder and not his favourite CMF or DMF proved he knows nothing.
TheGoodJoe: I checked all the games because of you. Solanke played as a point man in every game he played for Vitesse this season. He never played as a winger. Even the games he came in as a substitute, he replaced the point man.
Surely, you have not seen him play but i have.
Now, tell me from where he played in this YouTube.
TheGoodJoe: From my study, Dominic Solanke plays as a point man for Vitesse. It says a lot that he is a bright talent for the future. I hope he grows and makes a big impact in the game.
With respect to the Olympics team, he does not fit in with his stats. 7 goals in 17 starts is poor for the team. Coach Siasia will not take him. If Solanke played on the wings, he would have stood a chance. As a point man, regularly, he does not meet up.
My advice to Solanke is to team up with the U20 boys and slug it out with Osimhen for the U20 No.9 shirt. (I don't think he will beat Osimhen but it will be a healthy battle for the team).
He is young and still has time to make a solid imp
You sure don't know where he plays. I have told you before that he has played everywhere on the front line this season.
How many goals did Tijani Babangida score prior to the Olympics?
Who is the highest goal scorer on that list Icon4s released?
From the technical facts made available, Solanke pass Iheanacho for class room. I am sorry but that is the fact.
Sentiments will not let you see a talented player even if it is right at your noise.
TheGoodJoe: I did not know jack about Iwobi. It Icon4s, Arsetalks and some gunner fans that were talking Iwobi is good, Iwobi is this and that. I did not give a da.. until I watched him play against Hull City.
That pass to Theo Walcott was like.. WHOA. Every doubt in me vanished. He took me from a doubter to a fan with that pass.
Then go and watch Solanke play so that every doubt in you be vanished and he takes you away from a big time doubter to a passionate fan(if the eyes ofsentiment is removed) with his breathtaking skills.
You did not answer the question. I said what role does he play for Vitesse. Is he a regular upfront. If you do not know, just say you do not know.
Do not throw stats to make it look like if Solanke and Nacho are operating on the same level.
Everyone can testify the Eredivisie is easier to perform than the Premier League.
John Guidetti who could not get games at Man City, went to Feyenoord and scored 20 goals in 23 appearances. He could not break through into City and Pellegrini rates Iheanacho ahead of Guidetti.
Solanke started 17 games this season in the Eredivisie and scored 7 goals and 1 assist. That is very poor.
Iheanacho started 3 games and scored 3 goals with 1 assist in the Premier League.
TheGoodJoe: It is good to have someone like forgiveness on this thread (even though he annoys me sometimes), someone who looks out for those without popular demand.
I doubt we would discuss Solanke as a prospect of the country without someone like forgiveness.
To the attack discussion. I doubt Coach Siasia will be impressed enough to call a striker with 7 goals in 21 games.
forgiveness, does Solanke play upfront or does he play on the wings for Vitesse. Unless he plays on the wings, I do not see Coach Siasia giving him a call up.
I feel Coach Siasia has a lot of faith in Osimhen and I see him making it over the likes of Chikatara and Solanke.
(Note, Ronaldo De Lima was Seventeen years old when Carlos Alberto Parreira selected him for the World Cup. Although he did not play)
[quote]Will coach Siasia be impressed enough to call up a striker(kelechi Iheanacho) with 9 goals out of 26 matches?
Of course, only those who don't know European youth football will not discuss Dominic Solanke as a prospect but thank God the name now rings bell in the ears of millions of Naija. Thanks to Nairaland.
How come you could comfortably discuss about the prospect of Alex Iwobi who Dominic Solanke outshined in the youth stages?
Let it be known that Dominic Solanke can play anywhere in the front line. [\quote]
BascoVanVeli: I would have respected it if u stuck to ur original arguement about them becoming stars because if u talk about just getting a job then for starters we have a league and at least 4 teams i know will get their pay on time. Then the rest of Africa, Asia, North America name a league that doesn't have a Nigerian. All these players are getting paid without being exposed by u-17 so what is ur point? U-17 is for the best, it is not a market to sell children. We are to develope the nation not the rich or the poor. We have to be blind to backgrounds and treat these children equally. After all they didn't request to be based overseas so how can u penalise them.
Bros, forget Bros. He can change gear in the course of debate. star don become to become men lol
After painstackinly selecting the Defenders and midfielders. I will now proceed to selecting the attackers
1) Isaac Success; This is the second season of the Granada star in the Spanish laliga and he has not disappointed with 5 goals and 1 assist this season. Success will be joining Watford FC for the start of the 2016/17 season. He can play anywhere across the front line. He is 20 years old.
2) Kelechi Iheanacho; This is his first season in professional club football. However, he proved his worth when giving the chance to play. He has 9 goals and some assist to his credit. Plays as a RW, Second striker and Striker. He is 19 years old.
3) Moses Simon; He was a revelation last season with Genk who he helped to win the league for the first time in their history. These season he has garnered more experience by playing and scoring in the Champions League. No doubt, he deserves to make the list. Primarily plays as a left winger, and can as well play as a Striker or second striker. He will be 21 years of age this year.
4) Ezekiel Imoh; Ezekiel Imoh wealth of experience can't be dismissed. Having scored 47 goals in the last 4 seasons in one of the Top 10 European leagues in the world and even went to score in the Europa League this season. He can play as a Striker, Rw and second striker. He is 22 years of age
5) Dominic Solanke; He came to limelight last season with the Chelsea youth team when he helped them to win the FA Youth Cup and UEFA youth league. He even became the top scorer of the UEFA youth league tournament with 12 goals, and because of these, Chelsea rewarded him by promoting him to the first team at the age of 17 and later featured him in last year UEFA Champions League last season making him the youngest debutant for Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League. In his first season in the Eredivisie, he scored 7 goals even though he was out due to injury for 3 month. Although Solanke prefers playing as a striker, he can also play as a winger on either side and as an attacking midfielder. He is only, 18 years old.
Final list
Goalkeepers Emmanuel Daniel Dele Alampasu
Defenders Leon Balogun Kenneth Omerue Moses Odubanjo William Troost-Ekong Kingsley Madu Ekpolo Elohor
Midfielders Ogenyi-onazi Abdul Ajagun Alex Iwobi Azubuike Okechukwu Etebor Ogehnekaro
Attackers Isaac Success Kelechi Iheanach Moses Simon Ezekiel Imoh Dominic Solanke
TheGoodJoe: It is good to have someone like forgiveness on this thread (even though he annoys me sometimes), someone who looks out for those without popular demand.

Icon4s: He has learnt to shift grounds. "We are not there yet". We are getting there. He has removed Uche Agbo. Next would be Dominic Solanke and finally Abdul Forgiveness Ajagun.
Learn kwa! In a society, reasoning supercedes emotions, hope supercedes reasoning but above is the mind.
I have chosen to deal with the society with the mind.
If the list will allow 23 players. Be rest assured Uche Agbo will make my list.
Dominic Solanke and Abdul Ajagun don't bite. So, you don't need to be insecured about the chances of some players.
I will like to talk about why I feel there is something big in Kelechi Nwakali.
First, I trust and believe in the choice of Coach Amunike. He is a man who was trained in the famous La Masia Academy as a coach and he saw a lot of brilliant talents in his days there.
Coach Amunike chose Kelechi Nwakali as the leader of his U17 winning team. Kelechi Nwakali also trained with Iheanacho's U17 team at a very young age. It showed the coaches already knew they had a special talent in their hands.
The boy did not only have a good tournament. He came out as the best player of the competition. That showed that the U17 Coaches led by Coach Manu Garba were right when they believed they had a star in their hands.
He is now with Arsenal, a ground where a lot of technical training and sound development takes place. I have no shred of doubt that another fine gem will emerge from Arsenal after the training and development of Kelechi Nwakali.
So far, Kelechi Nwakali proved those who believed in his talent right and I do not see him disappointing the coaching crew at Arsenal.
terzurum5: Good list Sir Forgiveness. Congratulations too. This will be the first time friends here have to some extent come to agree with you on such an important issue. I was almost asking what has this Forg..... done to deserve this king of opposition? cc: Safarigirl
Thanks Bros.
The list to me is best because it is glaring they are the best.
Opposition? they say great men think alike but i will say a great man will always have a different mind.
chrisooblog: guy i was ignoring all this ajagun arguments but this recent claim you have decided to dish out is too much for me to stomach
ramon azeez went to world cup played in la liga.
omeruo afcon winner, top world cup performer chelsea player
guy nawa for this your double speak onazi sits on the bench yet you want him to go to olympics? ok continuu
nwofor went to world cup plays for boavista a top rated club in portugal
kingsley madu plays for senior national team yet your hero who plays in a ''better league'' hasn't been called up eyaa! oma se ooo
shehu abdullahi (see above)
wilfred ndidi (again see above)
S. moses mainstay in super eagles
etebo about to sign for a club in portugal already showing his worth in super eagles
as for your superhero plays in greece of all countries for a supposed top team whose coach couldn't wait to get rid of him. if na say coach dey beef am why wasn't he deemed valuable enough to be sold?
When you weight those clubs they(Ramon, Omeruo, Nwofor, Madu, Shehu, Ndidi, Simon and Etebor) have ever played for in the UEFA balance they will be found wanting. Decipher?
Panathinaikos-fc no be there mate. If they ever wear the jersey then you know say them be star.
Ask Omeruo why Chelsea no deem am valuable enough to be sold.
About playing for the Super Eagles, it's no longer news that a clubless player wore the 10 Jersey of the Super Eagles.
Icon4s: Baba Ajagun I dnt mention any player as falling. You did.
I only said Ajagun's mates have reason faster than he has done. That's all.
Forgiveness: False. Ramon Azeez is languishing in the third tier of Spanish football.
Omeruo is also playing for one obscure league in Turkey. From Eredivisie to Championship, from Championship to Turkey. Decipher grin
Onazi has been relegated to the bench this season.
Uche Nwofor. Nowhere to be found.
Kingsley Madu ; plays in an obscure league in Europe.
Shehu Abdullahi; so so
Wilfred Ndidi; lost for years before he found his footing this season after Ajagun don win trophy for Europe.
Ahmed Musa don rise even before he left the shores of Nigeria.
Moses Simon grin
Etebor Ogehnekaro : clubless
See your rising stars falling. grin
Your definition of "rising faster" is based on selection into the national team which is only based on sentiments. Fact!
It is therefore null and void to be used as one of the criteria because merit had been sacrificed on the altar of Nepotism. Fact!
You claimed, Ajagun had been stagnant and those you listed had risen faster than him. False! You are just trying to give a dog a bad name just to slaughter it but he no go work for where me i dey.
I will list the names of some the players you listed and analysis them one by one based on only club performance because national duty is never based on merit. Maybe that is what those coaches are doing to....
Kenneth Omeruo, Ramon Azeez, Ogenyi-onazi, Simon Moses, Uche Nwofor, Kingsley Madu, Shehu Abdullahi, Etebor Ogehnekaro, Wilfred Ndidi
Now emphasis on the words "rising faster"
Where was Wilfred Ndidi in 2013/2014 season when Abdul Ajagun had already played and won the Greek Cup for UEFA Champions finalists?
Where is Uche Nwofor playing and what has he won at his club? As a striker, how many goals has he scored in all the clubs he played for?
Where was Kingsley Madu in 2013/2015 when Abdul Ajagun had already won club laurel in 2013/2014 season?
Which club did Shehu Abdullahi play for in 2013/2014 season when Abdul don already become Champion?
You mean Etebor Ogehnekaro who could not even help his club in the NPFL win chi chi, and is recently clubless, is rising faster than a player on the book of former UEFA Champions league finalists?
Do you think the world rates Ramon Azeez's Almeria higher than UEFA Champions League finalist Panathinaikos-fc?
Abdul Ajagun has already rising ahead of Moses Simon in 2013/2014 season. Na lie?
Let us leave the rest on the list.
Answer these question.
Please, Next time show us technical facts before you deceive people here.
Icon4s: Simple fact. 70% of players Ajagun has played with either at U17 or U20 have progressed into playing for the Super Eagles. Ajagun still dey bare ex-junior international.
You mean played for the Super Eagles based on sentiments, nepotism, na my brother?
Ndidi wey no play regularly football until recently had already played for the national team. Wetin we go call that one? Even Olaitan wey featured for UEFA Champions League was overlooked by our coach
Imoh Ezekiel wey score goals kor?
Abi na Ajagun go invite himself come national team.
That one no be rising criteria because even clubless player don wear the number 10 Jersey of the national team. Abi i lie? Hehehe.
Icon4s: Ajagun has never even risen at all and as long the youngers ones like Etebo, Iheanacho and Iwobi are already ahead of him his chances of ever rising are very slim .
And very soon the likes of K. Nwakali and Samuel Chukwueze would be dusting him
These are high potential fliers no be slow progress player like Ajagun.
@bolded funny. You be God?
Now, highlight and pove the rising profile of all the players you listed with technical facts. Afterall, Na claim say technical facts na em bi the koko.
Icon4s: You shot your self on the foot by mentioning the guys he played U20 with.
He played with Omeruo, Ramon Azeez and Onazi at U17.
He played with Ahmed Musa, Ramon Azeez, Uche Nwofor, at U20 in 2011
He played with Moses Simon, Wilfred Ndidi, Shehu Abdullahi and Kingsley Madu at 2013 U20.
The guys he played with have progressed faster than him. True or False?
That is my point. He has not progressed well.
Coaches look at players with high potentials. I prefer players that are on the quick rise not players with stunted progress.
As long as we would have super rising talents like Etebo, Iwobi and Iheanacho in that team. Sorry Abdul Forgiveness Ajagun would be a surplus requirement.
False. Ramon Azeez is languishing in the third tier of Spanish football.
Omeruo is also playing for one obscure league in Turkey. From Eredivisie to Championship, from Championship to Turkey. Decipher
Icon4s: Bros u no sabi Abdul Ajagun pass me. I have followed his progress since 2009 FIFA U17 hosted in Nigeria. He even played U20 twice in 2011 and 2013. When it comes to talent he is nt in the class of Iwobi, Iheanacho, Solanke, Simon and Success. Why I may nt include him him in my 18 man list is we have 3 players that can also play the AM in addition to their other roles. These players are: Iwobi, Iheanacho and Etebo. These 3 players to me are ahead of Ajagun in the AM role.
Saying that my defensive line up is too defensive is nt true. What I have in my midfield are midfielders with defensive capabilities. Onazi and Okechukwu can function as central midfielders in addition to their DMF role while Ndidi is a DMF that provides a CB back-up. Having only 2 natural CB for such a competition may be too risky especially knowing that Omeruo and Balogun are too injury prone.
As for Solanke, UNTIL HIS NATIONALITY ISSUE IS SORTED-OUT, he will nt make my list. I dnt count my eggs before they are hatched.
Bros, i sure, you no sabi am pass me. Now, let us analyse their efficiency in the age groups stages.
@ U17 Level
Ajagun was a constant starter and engine of the U17 team until they got to the finals. Na lie?
Iheanacho was the star of the U17 winning team. No question.
@U20 Level
Ajagun was no doubt the engine of that 2011 set until they were eliminated in the quarter finals. Abi i lie?
He came again as the number 10 and captained the 2013 set to the round of 16 which they narrowly lost due to John Obuh's inability to make quick changes when his team was playing 9 against 11. Remember, he dominated the team despite having Ndidi, Madu, Simon, Shehu etc in the team. Confirm. I dey lie?
Iheanacho only started in a match they were thrashed against Brazil and came in as a substitute in 82 minutes in the third match against the already defeated Hungary. In fact, the Brazilian dominated the midfield even in the match Iheanacho played.
Talent is important but what good does it do to the team if you are not able to showcase or impact it in the team.
Besides, Ajagun doesn't play in the same position with Simon, Success, Solanke and Iheanacho. So, no need of comparing them.
Etebo better pass Ajagun for only Nairaland na but Technical facts proved otherwise.
On my list i have Ndidi as a natural defender even Stanley Amuzie na natural defender. So, you are wrong. I have four natural CB on my list already.
Solanke will be invited soon. I trust Siasia for that one.
gcode123: Very true. I am a witness. I met some in Maiduguri....
I remember one who walked inot the airport one time i was going back to lagos. I swear, every man in the hall turned to look at this tall light beautiful girl, she walkied in with one old alhaji though...... Those chics are fine for real.
How do you get them though? I heard number one criteria is you must be a muslim...... if you are a muslim you can stand a chance.
No one can sleep on Igbo girls though, anywhere in the world, igbo girls represent, and im not even igbo, Im yoruba.... As for my yoruba sisters..... it is well ...... All my close pals are dating igbos though, strangely enough
Do you mean Yoruba girls are ugly?
Well, I think they make up for the most Handsome men in Nigeria.
