Icon4s:Ok, if that be the case i will replace William Troost-Ekong with either Ndidi or Awaziem. @bolded sounds funny. He is not talented but he played regularly for John Obuh's U17 and U20. You know he was the engine of those teams. He is not talented but he played regularly for 3 good seasons for Panathinaikos-fc with 67 league appearance and 10 league goals. Besides he is an attacking midfielder, centre Midfielder and a LW. He offers more options in the offensive than Ndidi. If at all i have to replace Ajagun, it will not be with a DMF. I will look for an attacking midfielder to deputise for Alex Iwobi. Is Iwobi more Nigerian than Solanke? someone here recently gave a hint that Solanke his ready to play for Nigeria if called. So, what do we have to say about that? But if he's not willing then Victor Moses should take his place. Thanks, that is how it is suppose to be. Hmm! Siasia! However, your list is not bad but the midfield is full of defensive players apart from Iwobi. My 18 man list: Goalies: Emmanuel Daniel Dele Alampasu Defenders: Kingsley Madu (LB) Stanley Amuzie (LB/CB) Kenneth Omeruo (CB/RB) Leon Balogu (CB/RB) Wilfred Ndidi (CB/DMF) Chidozie Awaziem(CB/DMF) Moses Odubanjo(RB/LB/RW) Midfielders: Abdul Ajagun (AM/CMF/LM) Ogenyi Onazi (DMF/CMF) Oghenekaro Etebo (CMF) Azubuike Okechukwu (CMF/DMF) Alexander Iwobi (AM/LWF) Forwards: Dominic Solanke (CF/LWF/RWF/AM) Moses Simon (WF/SS) Kelechi Iheanacho (SS/RWF/CF) Imoh Ezekiel (CF/SS/RWF) Isaac Success( CF/LWF) Modified |
joseph1013:Thanks Bros. Do you think someone who just played 5 matches for a club this season is preferable to someone who had played for three good seasons in the Dutch Eredivisie? In case Madu is injured who will take his place at the LB? Can Ekpolo Elohor play that wing? Is Ndidi an attacking midfielder? You can only replace an attacking midfielder with an attacking midfielder? The last world Cup proved to me Onazi was the engine of the Super Eagles despite Mikel presence in the midfield. Onazi is more versatile than Mikel but if he is chosen, no wahala. Hmmm! Una no just no like the lad but i will only replace him with Victor Moses if he refuses to play for Nigeria. Well, dat one sure pass. Siasia will disappoint many but he should remember naija no dey forget or forgive if you he fumbles. |
TheSuperNerd:You are right. However, sometimes, it is safer to have a blend of experience and inexperience in a team. Remember, Mba had an experienced Mikel in the midfield. |
TheSuperNerd: Hehehe! Solanke deserves to be on list based on his current form. You know na. ![]() If Siasia picks these attackers, be rest assured that we can breakthrough any strong defend. Yes, we have got some fine strong mix of options in the attack but i think these players are ahead. Thanks Can you kindly pinpoint the grey areas? |
tbaba1234:Moses Odubanjo doesn't play in the same position with Ndidi and Awaziem. He is a RB but the other two can both play as CB and DMF. Ajagun has played 12 league matches and scored 2 goals for panathinaikos-fc this season before he was sent on loan in January. And as soon as he got to his new club, he has made them a prospect for next season Europa League. Hmm! I have seen both played before and i can tell you Onazi is more efficient and mobile than Ndidi in the midfield. Although, he hardly gets play time this season but he has seen 613 minutes of football in the league this season minus Coppaitalia and Europa League. If you add it together, he must have seen a least 1000 minutes of soccer this season. Thanks. The attack is surely our strength. |
After painstackinly selecting the Defenders and midfielders. I will now proceed to selecting the attackers 1) Isaac Success; This is the second season of the Granada star in the Spanish laliga and he has not disappointed with 5 goals and 1 assist this season. Success will be joining Watford FC for the start of the 2016/17 season. He can play anywhere across the front line. He is 20 years old. 2) Kelechi Iheanacho; This is his first season in professional club football. However, he proved his worth when giving the chance to play. He has 9 goals and some assist to his credit. Plays as a RW, Second striker and Striker. He is 19 years old. 3) Moses Simon; He was a revelation last season with Genk who he helped to win the league for the first time in their history. These season he has garnered more experience by playing and scoring in the Champions League. No doubt, he deserves to make the list. Primarily plays as a left winger, and can as well play as a Striker or second striker. He will be 21 years of age this year. 4) Ezekiel Imoh; Ezekiel Imoh wealth of experience can't be dismissed. Having scored 47 goals in the last 4 seasons in one of the Top 10 European leagues in the world and even went to score in the Europa League this season. He can play as a Striker, Rw and second striker. He is 22 years of age 5) Dominic Solanke; He came to limelight last season with the Chelsea youth team when he helped them to win the FA Youth Cup and UEFA youth league. He even became the top scorer of the UEFA youth league tournament with 12 goals, and because of these, Chelsea rewarded him by promoting him to the first team at the age of 17 and later featured him in last year UEFA Champions League last season making him the youngest debutant for Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League. In his first season in the Eredivisie, he scored 7 goals even though he was out due to injury for 3 month. Although Solanke prefers playing as a striker, he can also play as a winger on either side and as an attacking midfielder. He is only, 18 years old. Final list Goalkeepers Emmanuel Daniel Dele Alampasu Defenders Leon Balogun Kenneth Omerue Moses Odubanjo William Troost-Ekong (Ndidi or Awaziem) Kingsley Madu Stanley Amuzie (Ekpolo Elohor or Musa Mohammed) Midfielders Ogenyi-onazi Abdul Ajagun Alex Iwobi Azubuike Okechukwu Etebor Ogehnekaro Attackers Isaac Success Kelechi Iheanach Moses Simon Ezekiel Imoh Dominic Solanke |

AIG07:Haba! Point to the players that doesn't deserve to be on my list. If sentiment is put aside, i don't think there is any striker banging in goals like Kayode Olanrewaju @ U23 level. He scored 13 goals last season in the isreali top league and 11 goals in the Austria league this season. The boy deserves a trial. |
chrisooblog:Yes, it speaks volumes of Siasia's coaching deficiency to have left out Onazi for Etebor Ogehnekaro and Azubuike Okechukwu. Hehehe! Wetin be the results? Well, he will be known as the coach who failed woefully to qualify the Super Eagles to the AFCON twice and sacked twice. Na who lose? ![]() Even with Onazi one leg, he's still far better than Azubuike Okechukwu and Etebor Ogehnekaro. Abi i lie? Hehehe! Atleast, i go still fit do 50 slide power point presentation for Solanke but for some na 0. ![]() |
BlackAlbino6:Hahahaa! You 4 carry all the blue crayon wey dey dis world take clear all the record wey dey for soccerway, Wikipedia, google, goal.com etc before i go take you serious. ![]() Let it be known that no amount of blue ink can erase the records Ajagun had set, is setting and will continue to set. ![]() Playing 28 matches for Panathinaikos-fc and helping them to place 2nd with just 12 points behind Olympiacos_F.C in the 2014/2015 season to you na abin get? ![]() Playing in the 2015/2016 UEFA Champions League for panathinaikos-fc and playing 12 matches with 2 goals for Panathinaikos-fc this season before he was loaned out in January 2016 na abin get for ya eyes? ![]() Continue. But show me who bin get wetin Ajagun get before we go further. Is it I. Mathew, Usman Mohammed, Azubuike Okechukwu, Obinna Nwobodo, Etebor Ogehnekaro etc? hehehe! I yaff ![]() Olaitan is not a midfielder na. Although, he was but not any more. He is now a winger or striker. Check the date of pincture below. ![]()

TheSuperNerd:Your assertion may be based on Iwobi's performance lately and i agree to some extent. However, Ajagun is more versatile than Iwobi and formation will determine who get the nod from the coach to be the starter in every matches. Etebo Oghenekaro, I Mathew, Usman Mohammed, Obinna Nwobodo, Azubuike Okechukwu etc are all novice when it comes to club and international football but i included Etebor and Okechukwu on my list because they single handedly helped us to qualify for the Olympics. That's all. |
TheSuperNerd:You are right. #dozing then |
TheSuperNerd:Is there any player as good as Onazi @U23 level? Maybe i not aware. Pls, kindly tell me. If Siasia does not pick any of them then let us forget about winning anything in that Olympic. The Under 23 teams are not bringing unknown players to the Olympics. They will be coming with their best U23 teams. Players playing regularly for top teams in top European leagues. We should not expect work over because we won it before and came second the last time we participated. As you said, it is all up Siasia to decide. |
TheSuperNerd:Tomorrow will be the day. |
TheSuperNerd:Atleast, for the world to see and judge. So, that they will know he is far ahead of Mathew and Etebor whom some suggest to be on the list. If Onazi is not picked then we are going to the Olympics just to have fun. We saw what happened at the U20 world cup when we met stiff oppositions our midfield collapsed and we were dominated through out. We need a better and experience midfielders and not the novice paraded on this forum. Mikel Obi is surely not on my list. |
TheSuperNerd:Who else but God? |
TheSuperNerd:Technical facts proved Solanke and Iheanacho both participated in FA youth cup and UEFA youth league. And at the end of both competitions Solanke's Chelsea came top. We can't erase records to suit People's ego. So, as long as this discussion is brought up, Iheanacho name will surely resurface and there is nothing anyone can do about it. Kindly, deal with it. For ya information. I need no mortal's forgiveness because i have it already with the Almighty. #comparisoncontinua |
Badosqi:No! Is there anyone better than Ajagun in that position? Pls, let us discuss it. |
Midfielders; this is the most important part of any successful team in the world. So, i will select players based on their utility, talent and experience. I will choose only 5 midfielders. 1) Ogenyi-onazi; He is the most experienced and versatile among the lots. We saw what happened at the world cup when he was substituted, the midfield collapsed immediately and the French had their way. He can play as CM, DMF, AM and RB. With the Lazio man in the midfield, be rest assured he will dominate the middle of the park. He is 23 years. Overaged 2) Alex Iwobi; This lad had his breakthrough this season with Arsenal and he has been a revelation. He is a sure banker to lead the attacking midfielder. Iwobi can also play as a winger. He is 19 years. 3) Azubuike Okechukwu; He was the enginee of the 23 winning team and he was rewarded with the best player of the tournament. However, he's playing regularly for his team in the second tier of Turkish league. He is a DMF and can as well play CM. He is 19 years. 4) Abdul Ajagun; Without any contradiction, he is the most experienced and versatile player behind Onazi in the midfield. A winner of NPFL with Dolphins_F.C 2010/2011, winner of Africa under 20 Champion in 2011 and third place in 2013. Participated twice in the U20 World Cup and once in the U17 where he helped to reach the finals in 2009. He scored 12 goals in his 22 appearance for the U20. Later moved to UEFA Champions League finalist and second most Successful club in Superleague Panathinaikos-fc where he helped the club to place second twice behind Olympiacos_F.C(UEFA Champions League last 16 for 6 years) 2013/2014 and 2014/2015 and finally single handedly won the Greece cup in 2013/2014. He has played in the UEFA Champions League in 2015/2016. Ajagun is a natural attacking midfielder who can play as a CMF, RW or LW. He is currently on loan to Levadiakos-fc where he plays regularly as an AM. The team he left in the second position has dropped points and placed third in the Superleague. He is 23 years. 5) Etebor Ogehnekaro; He was very outstanding during the Olympics qualifiers. He plays in the NPFL and he is currently CAF most promising talent of the year. Plays as an attacking midfielder, second striker, striker and CMF. He is 20 years. I decided to pick 2 natural attacking midfielder, 2 natural defensive midfielders and a central midfielder. Yawa go gas. ![]() |

GUEN ACCEPTS EAGLES JOB by Ade Ojeikere, April 02, 2016 at 12:00 am Sportinglife can reveal exclusively today that Frenchman Paul Le Guen has tacitly accepted to coach Nigeria’s senior team, the Super Eagles in a two-year deal that is renewable based on the team’s performance. SportingLife scooped further that the Frenchman demanded that the NFF gets him a house in Abuja where he hopes to stay and monitor the domestic league players plying their trade weekly. Indeed, Le Guen will get a house in Lagos where he would go to watch the league matches in the two stadia in Lagos and also the games in the South South, South East and South West areas of the country. Interestingly, SportingLife reported yesterday that NFF chieftains have offered the new helmsman a whooping 40,000 Euros monthly and that the new tactician would pay for the services of his assistant and a trainer from the monthly 40,000 euros which he has accepted to earn during his three-year tenure. Le Guen, who was born 1 March 1964, is a French football manager and a former player. His last role was as manager of the Oman national football team, from which he was relieved in November 2015. Interestingly, NFF chiefs have decided to allow the technical crew that prosecuted the two-legged ties against Egypt in Kaduna on March 25 and in Alexandria on March 29 in tact, given the remarkable manner in which they worked as a team for the games. Indeed, on Tuesday, NFF hierarchy would meet with the sports minister, Solomon Dalung where the issue of Le Guen’s employment would be exhuastibly discussed, just the NFF’s plans for the Russia 2018 World Cup competition with draws of the competition slated to hold in June. NFF men are also toying with other options principal of which is the urgent need to fill the void that would arise in the squad when Samson Siasia head for the Rio’ 2016 Olympic Games, in the event that the minister isn’t persuaded to employ a foreign coach for the Super Eagles after the Tuesday’s meeting in Abuja. Already, the NFF have contacted renowned agents to shop for international friendly games meant to keep the Eagles busy now that the draws for the Russia 2018 World Cup would be held later in June. http://c.newsnow.co.uk/A/2/823865882?-21310:8643:t Behold our "new coach". |
Chad Withdrawal: NFF Have No Case Against CAF By Dare Esan: The Nigeria Football Federation's claim that the Confederation of African Football changed their qualification rules for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations midway has shown that the FA are ignorant of CAF rules on the tournament, Complete Sports can report. The NFF had last week through a media release by Ademola Olajire and posted on their website said they were considering contesting the "sudden change of rules" after the withdrawal of Chad and had already put their lawyers to work on how they can seek legal redress against CAF. “…our legal unit is looking at the propriety of changing the rules midstream,” the statement read in part. Complete Sports' checks however reveal otherwise. According to Article 61 in Chapter 27 – Forfeit, Withdrawals, Refusal to Play, Replacement of CAF's Regulations of the Africa Cup of Nations: ''If a team withdraws from the qualifying phase organised in groups, all its results shall be annulled (points, scored and conceded goals)." Complete Sports further checks also reveal that the NFF may have based their argument on a totally different Chapter of the regulation which dealt with the Final Tournament of the competition, that is the 31st edition of the Africa Cup of Nations which will be held in Gabon between January and February 2017. Article 87 in Chapter 35 of the Regulation states thus: "If a team withdraws at the start of the Final Tournament without playing all the matches of its group, it shall be considered loser of all the remaining matches it was scheduled to play by the score of three to nil." Therefore, as things stand, the NFF have no case against CAF and should start strategising for the 2019 qualifiers. http://c.newsnow.co.uk/A/2/823887506?-21310:8643 |
TheGoodJoe:For a defender, it is allowed? And doing it without getting a card is bravo. But Amuzie did his to get a card. ![]() |
tbaba1234:He bi like say this boy good oo. but who will he displace? |
tbaba1234:Make the boy go BVB because of British permit wahala. |
TheGoodJoe:Because we were in search of goal. That is football. With all the gragra Salah did, he was not able to beat Echiejile one on one. I saw the re-play again. |
![]() TheSuperNerd:I will add one defender to make it six. Siasia formation is always 4-3-2-1 or 4-3-3 |
TheGoodJoe:When i saw Echijiele coming into the game, my heart was at peace because it afforded Moses to forget about defensive duties and concentrate on attacking. And you saw what happened, we had shots at goal. |
terzurum5:I am still watching that boy because he seems to be feigning injury prior to Super Eagles matches like Boateng but i hope he is not. However, i think we need him. |
TheGoodJoe:He impressed you but not me. |
TheGoodJoer:One start from how many games? You can believe what you want. It's a free world. |
TheGoodJoe:He is never a starter in his club. So, it is understandable. |
