Olulong: Gernot Rohr bids his senior players farewell
Gernot Rohr bids his senior players farewell Fisayo Dairo November 19, 2021
The soon-to-be-disengaged head coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr has apparently said his farewell to his senior players, www.aclsports.com can report.
The future of the 68-year old German coach is up in the air after a series of lacklustre performances by his players in the past couple of months.
This reached a crescendo on Tuesday night when Nigeria narrowly avoided defeat against Cape Verde in their final group game in the race to qualifying for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Since the end of that 1-1 draw in Lagos, there have been reports indicating that Rohr’s reign as Nigeria head coach might be over and in spite of the Federation half-heartedly denying the news on Thursday, another dimension came into it that evening.
www.aclsports.com has authoritatively scooped that Rohr has bade farewell to his valued key players, informing them of the stance by Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to relieve him of his duties.
Although the process is not yet complete according to the former Gabon national team head coach, it was now safe for him to thank “his boys” for their support and cooperation while he was in charge of the Super Eagles.
Rohr and his employers are expected to officially confirm the parting of ways in the coming days once all legal details are sorted. A replacement is also expected to be named by the Federation as soon as the news is made official.
Nigeria is among twenty-four African countries that will participate at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted by Cameroon in January and have been drawn against Egypt, Sudan and Guinea-Bissau in Group D.
The Eagles will also know their foes in the final round of qualification for Qatar 2022 when the draws are conducted on December 18, 2021. All his coaching crew should be sacked. We need fresh ideas. |

nelszx: That's your problem, assess the players and not league they play in. Pick whoever will suit your tactics and/or formation.
Amuneke was playing in Zamalek or so but he was benching a European based prince of Monaco in Ikpeba. Sunday Mbah that won us the AFCON was playing for Rangers but benched Nosa Igiebor who was playing in Israel or so. Oboabona in sunshine stars was benching Yobo in fernabahce.
You can only get the best out of a player by checking if they'd suit your style of play not because they play in a 'better league'. Are they starting games in these better leagues? Everything is the style the coach wants to deploy and the best fit players that can help execute those tactics not 'better league'. Moses Simon, Iwobi, Ekong who all play in a better league are they not pulling out poor strings with the super eagles?
If Onyedika and Alhassan are good players, invite and assess them regardless of who plays in a more fanciful league. Same way I'd say if Amoo is that good he should get a call up and assess to know how good he is. Not to invite them and keep them on the bench like Rohr had been doing.
Change this your mentality bro, you're no different from Rohr with your way of thinking. Yes! We can can as well pick players from Agege or Ajegunle because we might see players that can suit our tactics since Osimhen keeps missing goals, and co are not living up to expectations. |

Permesso: I have never heard of any yoruba state governor's patronising Innoson product, cars or Coastal bus. But they will be quick to rush to Japanese Toyota products to grow their economy, but will expect Vat from Federal Government collected from Innosons and Co that are indigenous manufactures. This is very Bad of the so called one Nigeria. Lagos government can encouraged him by chattering buses and Vans instead of patronising, empowering and growing foreign G.D.P. Innoson is not the only indigenous car in Nigeria. We have Nord Automobile in Lagos here. |

He plays for Midtjylland and he has replaced Onyeka very well. We even have Alhassan Yusuf.
Rohr doesn't invite quality to his squad that's why Okay. I think Alhassan should be considered ahead of him because he plays in a better league. |

TheGoodJoe:
So Bielsa is out of the discussion.
I have always made my point and understanding of the game clear. I will give you an instant.
I stopped supporting Manchester United in 2010. At that time, they have played the Champions League finals with Chelsea and won. Played the Champions League finals with Barcelona and lost. They had won the English Premier League and on top of the table.
Despite the trophy success, I was not satisfied with the direction of the club and I stopped supporting them for a growing Manchester City.
I supported City because I believed in the direction of the club. One was signing Roberto Mancini. I knew in the near future, there would be drastic successful changes.
So I have never been a fan of immediate success. Na money you see wey you take follow Man Ciy. Na play I Dey oooo. |

Danielnino00: Mourinho is defensive minded not conservative... Mou can get his team to play tantalizing attacking football when he can ..He just tend to switch on the defensive aspect quite often.. Conservative football is when you restrict your team from play to their strength because you are scared of losing...it also extends to players selection...
Conte,Tuchel, Mou and Simeone are examples of defensive coaches... Rohr and Claude Le Puel are examples of conservative coaches
Brendan Rodgers is an example of a coach that plays attacking football with reckless abandon
Biesla and Klopp are example of coaches that high pressing football. Pep plays possessive football.. Tuchel defensive coach? Really!? |
