chrisooblog: When some of us say we play like the Dutch we are talking about attacking play from the wings, backed by a creative midfield and fullbacks who overlap occasionally. Dutch style is not necessarily tiki taka but what I would call an attractive direct style making use of skill and creativity to open up your opponents. Whereas tiki taka simply put is passing your adversary to death.
Yes we are physical and rugged but there's a lot of sublime skill and creativity in that mix. Watch Bonfere and Siasia teams then you will understand what I mean. No disputes about it. |

It is the philosophy. The possessive game. The Rondos training and the infusion of the principles into the game.
It has variants but the essential principles stand. Guardiola never abandoned it. Try and watch Manchester City matches and see how much short passes we make. 2 or 3 short passes....volla long balls to tear the defense. My man, Guardiola has moved on from Tiki Taka. |

chrisooblog: By what name again would you call Physicality, ruggedness, power play?
Amokachi had small skill, Amuneke and Siasia too. Plus to balance we had Okocha, Finidi, Kanu, Ikpeba to balance out the attributes you mentioned Physicality in football is not about muscle. Physical (PHY), also knows as Physicality, is a Player Attribute in FIFA that represents the physical and body status of a player. Players with high PHY rating, are able to win the physical battles on the pitch and maintain their fitness throughout a full match. All our players had skills. I remembered the game against Zambia in 1994 AFCON, the Zambians were physical likewise Nigeria. |

What do you mean Guardiola abandoned tiki taka. It remains the foundation of it. There would be other variation to it but the possessive philosophy remains critical.
Look below at our last match below against Everton. Look at the possession of who you said abandoned tiki taka. What philosophy is Klopp? Is it not possessive football? Is Guardiola playing the same way he played in Barcelona? |

Barryseal: Exactly. Our style has never been tiki taka. I laugh when people say we play like the Dutch. I don't understand that scene of illusion. Our game have always been physical, rugged, power play and speed. Europeans and South Americans always dreed playing us because of our physicality.
It's only Nigerians that think we play like the Dutch. South Africa, Ghana and Morroco play the closest system to tiki take or Dutch football not Nigeria. Exactly! We must go with what works for us. Physicality, ruggedness, power play and speed have always been our style of play and we need a coach that can use that to our strength. We no bi Spain. |

Have you watched Sane and Bernardo Silva play on the wings? Have you watched Walker and Cancelo overlap for City? Please, wing play is key for the system. You are talking about Guardiola that has abandoned Tiki Taka after it failed him in his latter years at Barcelona because he realized it can be countered hence went back to the drawing board and invented another style totally different from tiki Taka. Amuneke is not Guardiola. |

Where do you get these irrelevant point from?
It is shocking.
Read again, I believe the system will suit our team. I gave my reasons why. I also believe Amunike is in a good position to get our team playing that way.
Then you come up with the above, is shocking. That’s what I deduced from your reasons. Tiki Taka is not good for our players. We rely more on wing play and that’s why most of our best players are wingers. We need a coach that is direct, plays fast -paced attacking football with high-intense, counter-attacking style of football that suits our players style of play. Not one boring Tiki Taka that will limit their potential. |

I wonder where you get that. I have told you before I used to leave in the same block as Coach Monday Sinclair, who was one of the earliest men that played possession football to its fullest.
We have had a lot of coaches but Amunike played as a professional under the philosophy. His teammates are leaders of the game today. Enrique and Guardiola. He trained as a coach under the system.
Now I also pointed out his scouting ability which has been part of the quality players in the Super Eagles today. So these two qualities are the reason why I pick Amunike.
By the way, Imama played Tiki Taka under Sinclair. Finidi played possession footy under Sinclair and Van Gaal. Siasia even coaches his with an expansion theory to keep the ball moving faster than the opposition.
So I wonder why you feel I am saying Amunike is the only one. I said Amunike is well versed in it.
Keep in mind he is training local coaches in it because he knows it indepth. If it is to write website on it, it is easy for Amunike. If a coach doesn’t/hasn’t played under Barcelona philosophy or trained in Barcelona, he is not a good coach, right? |

I prefer Liverpool(jurgen klopp, or man u(Ferguson era style) aggressive pressing style Very boring style of play. I stopped watching Guardiola’s Barcelona at some point except against Chelsea. Those coaches play direct football and rely much on wing play. This is were you need fast and skillful wingers. Tiki Taka will limit our players that are fast and direct. We don’t need it. |
