TheGoodJoe: You are missing the point. It is not playing Uche but how he wanted to use him. When it comes to hitmen, Keshi used and liked Shola Ameobi, Bright Dike, Ideye, Emenike to some extent, Anichebe, Aaron Samuel and Osaguona. They were important for his long ball approach and keeping the ball in the offensive end when attacking.
He could use them just as he used Musa but they were not the direction of play and were not priority to his attack. How come with all those giant hit men, Ike scored more goals than them in the AFCON qualifiers with the same so called long balls you said Martins can't fit into? |

TheGoodJoe: Between me and you, who watched Martins playing for Inter? Na wa. My team in Italy is Inter Milan because of Kanu. I watched Martins well at Inter.
By the way, I wonder the person that said Martins and Emenike are the same height. I just checked.
Martins is 1.7m and Emenike is 1.82m. You didn't watch. Because if you did, you wouldn't have talked about Marrins not suitable for long balls. Gbam |

TheGoodJoe: Did I say they can't. I am we already had Onazi, Babatunde and Azeez. We had a big option in Mikel and needed another big option. That was why Ruben was carried along. He was not the preferred choice for the sub but had to come in for the physicality. You mean we needed physicality because it was wrestling hence ability, fitness, agility, skills, etc were not needed? No wonder when he entered, we were one man down. |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by forgiveness: 10:45pm On Nov 24, 2019 |
TheGoodJoe: Instead of running helter skelter, get the point. The French were not playing fair. I think a player was injured by them in a game before our match. They had injured Onazi and Ambrose. Azeez winning ballon d'or would not in any way help when the opposition was not playing fair. The solution was to try to match them in physical strength which Azeez offers none in that respect.
It would have been a slaughter and Mikel was right stopping it. We lost the game as soon as we lost the legs of Ambrose and Onazi. Not as soon as Ruben came on. At the end of the day, the kwatankwa tactics was not the solution. Perhaps, tell us how we controlled the game with smallish Onazi. Was he also physical? Keshi messed up big time for playing Reuben who was match rustic. As soon as he entered, we were bombarded left right center. EOD |

You sure you no get comprehension problem? Because the ineffective Simon was one of the reason we qualified for the world cup. How come you are unable to know and acknowledged that? OMANBALA1: And those clubs were some of the best clubs in Europe ? No. No Super Eagles coach ever invited them because they were below required standards. I think it was Oliseh that once invited Haruna or one of those your blodas...lol. Those guys have been assessed by different Super Eagles coaches and the verdict was not good for them.
If they were any good why aren't they painting Europe red with scintillating performances ? They have all fizzled out abi is Keshi you Yorubas accused of tribalism and corruption still the Super Eagles coach ? Leave matter for Matthias. At that time, they were among the best we had. How come you're too slow to understand? Perhaps, your ethnocentric nature is at work. |

TheGoodJoe: Emenike is far big in stature. Martins does not play by receiving long balls, something Emenike did repeatedly under Keshi.
Osaze apologised before Keshi took him but still went on to play off the team tactics. Go and watch Martins in inter Milan before you come here with false information. Thanks |

Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by forgiveness: 6:53pm On Nov 24, 2019 |
TheGoodJoe: Keshi played with big strong strikers because he relied a lot on long balls. So Martins did not fit into the system. That was why when he tried Martins, he flopped.
Osaze when he got the chance refused to play to instructions. Uche also Blatantly told Keshi that he would not play the way Keshi wanted. There was no way Keshi was going to deal with their ego. Imagine Osimhen telling Rohr he will not play the way Rohr wants... Can you remind me the highest goalscorer for Nigeria during the 2013 AFCON? How come this debunked your 'big striker' theory? Abi, is Ike Uche taller than Martins with 10 inches? Keshi never wanted Martins in the first place.

TheGoodJoe: Was Rohr owed Seven months? Was Rohr in a position where during the Afcon, NFF were preparing his sack letter?
Was Rohr in a position where his technical adviser got sacked despite Keshi's plea that his assistant was a big part of his coaching team?
Rohr is in heaven while Keshi worked in hell, with little quality young players at his disposal and was able to give us some impressive results.
Continue insulting him. SE performance at the beginning of AFCON were nothing to write home about. The game changer was Moses else we would had been disgraced. |

TheGoodJoe: To reply is not by force. We were not going to win bringing Azeez. Neither would Haruna or Ajagun help win. We lost the battle when the French chose to take out the running of Onazi.
The French had to rely on injuring Onazi and to an extent Ambrose to stop the man you call mediocre. We lost the battle as soon as Ruben came on instead of Ramon Azeez who was Almeria player of the year that same season in the la Liga. What position did he play in the la Liga for Almeria? CM/AMF. You don't have a point. Gbam |

TheGoodJoe: Can you make any point than saying you have no point. You that have a point, make it.
Keshi has done so much for the Super Eagles for you to open your mouth and say mediocrity.
He was a blessing to us and deserves at least understanding.
Can you counter a point I made? Than to write no point, mediocrity, as if that is making a point.
We already had Ramon Azeez. We could not go with Ajagun and Haruna when we had Onazi also who could play that role. We needed a big defensive/central Midfielder.
After that, Keshi drafted Hope Akpan.
You are free to write no point. Haruna and Ajagun can play anywhere in the mildfield. |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by forgiveness: 6:19pm On Nov 24, 2019 |
TheGoodJoe: You people keep making this statement. Keshi wanted a big player who could play in the midfield, after going with another lightweight player in Ramon Azeez.
In the game against France, we were up against a highly physical French team. When it was time for a substitution to replace Onazi, Keshi called Ramon and I exclaimed, "No O! They will kill him on that pitch. Luckily, Mikel signalled to Keshi not to try it and then replaced Onazi with Gabriel.
So, Haruna and Ajagun would not have come in for the extra big man. It was due to strategy he brought in Ruben Gabriel to match the players at his disposal. What happened after the physical Ruben came in for short and smallish Onazi? France overan the mildfield. |
